The classes went okay at first until the end of them when the trainer said we're going to work on "socializing". The other dog was much much larger and quickly came over to ours and overpowering, literally pinning our dog to the ground. The trainer stated that our dog would "bite or bark when they don't feel safe" but instead, our little dog simply lied down and peed himself because he was so scared... The groomer SHAVED my dog's beautiful long hair (she's a Goldendoodle). In some parts, down to the skin. She left my dogs tail long, but shaved the base and some of her tail so it looks ridiculous. The groomer also said that when my dog moved she accidentally cut her, and just snuggling with her today she yelped in pain from me touching her stomach. This is unacceptable from a groomer. Words can not express how awful my pup looks. Not to mention the mats still in her ears!!! Will never be using this service again. Even my neighbor was appalled when she came and saw what they did.

From the boutique and high quality toys, homemade treats, and even outfits this store blows any of the "big box" pet stores out of the water. The selection of things range from the necessary to the completely ridiculously unnecessary which is hilarious and I loved seeing some of the items they carried. However, with this kind of high quality often comes a high price. While the prices are not outrageous they will be slightly higher than your average pet store and that fortunately for us isn't a consideration as our little girl is treated as most parents treat their children. You can expect about a 10-15% difference in price with a much higher quality than you'd typically experience (especially in the treats case). The owner was a pleasure to chat with and shared all of his stories of past and current dogs which was awesome to hear about. He also told us about the history of the shop and what drove them to open it. These are good people just trying to fill a niche that wasn't covered previously when they opened their doors, and all three of us will gladly walk through those doors again and again whenever we find ourselves in the Portsmouth area :) Thanks again for the great conversation and Ruby says the treats were delicious!

Updated to add that I spoke with the new owners. They reached out after seeing my experience and…read moreseemed genuinely upset about what happened, and how it was handled. They have offered to reimburse me for medical expenses. The comment below from the new owners is accurate, and it was a relief to hear the changes they are making when they called me. It's been an about a month, I've thought long and hard about this post. On Monday, June 17th I dropped my dog off at daycare. A place he has been going (and loved) for years. At 1pm I got a call from the employee there, saying that my dog was attacked, and that I needed to get him immediately, and bring him to the vet. They thought he had 1 wound.. he had 3 (3 bad ones, but I keep finding scabs from others). He ended up with 10 staples, an oral antibiotic, and injection antibiotics for 21 days. This happened on a Monday, by Thursday I knew something was very wrong and took him back to my Amazing Vet. The wound that they didn't staple (they try not to close dog bites because their mouths are gross) was infected beyond what the oral antibiotics could handle, and had become much worse. They were considering surgery to remove the infection and close the wound... Thankfully they tried another route first, and the injection antibiotics did the trick. He is still wearing a shirt to protect the wounds, he is still on anti inflammation medication, he is still recovering. Playtime Pet Resort (formerly Play All Day) in Exeter, does not have a bite policy. And, because my baby tried to run away from the dogs attacking him, they do not have clear video footage of the attack. They say they can't identify the dogs that attacked him (the vet confirmed it was more than 1). They attempted to placate me by saying "it happened right at the feet of the employee"... unfortunately, the other DOGS (plural), were not expelled. Those dogs that attacked mine are still there and there is nothing I can do about it. Please be aware. My boy loved it there for the last 4 years (split between Hampton and Exeter). I loved the convenience of them being in town, and picking up a tired dog at the end of the day. However, he will never go back. It is no longer a safe space for him. Please read all reviews for this business AND Play All Day (Exeter),before choosing the best place for your dog. I hope this will prevent any other families from experiencing an "incident" like this.
