My wife and I had the pleasure of staying in New Braunfels last week to watch our grandson while his parents were out of town for a friend's wedding. We had plans to do lots of things, including going to the San Antonio Zoo, but all three of us were viciously attacked by cedar (ash juniper) allergies and really didn't have the energy to deal with I-35. I suggested that we visit PetSmart and let him see the fish, birds, hamsters, etc. So that is what we did. We put him in a shopping cart and pushed him around the store. He loved it. Words can not Describe the hair cut or complete buzz that my son's dog received . I have seen bad hair cuts but this topped the cake ! DO NOT !!! Bring your dog to this location for a hair cut , Maverick was here for hours , in a crate until it was his turn . They fell behind this day , just like the other reviews say . He does get a little anxious but would never hurt a fly ! They blamed the dog also for being aggressive, they called to say they couldn't finish cutting his hair not bathe him because he's not cooperative! He has been groomed before , elsewhere and never , ever looked this bad ! My son was so upset, he went in , they said he didn't have to pay this day and they would try to have the head groomer fix it . When my son sent me this picture I about cried , who in their right mind trained these people ? It worse then Edward's Scissor hands ! You should all be fired , go back to school and learn how to groom a dog ! He is a Golden Doodle who was so cute and so sweet! No he looks awful ! I get it , hair grows back but this is the absolute worst! Who does this ? Clearly the reviews all blame the dogs for being aggressive, clearly, it's the people grooming the dogs that are in the wrong profession. Please, do yourself a favor and do not bring your dog to this location unless you want to have this happen ! He also had bald spots on his body , could it get any worse than this ! I love getting new pets from this store, but I wish I took a picture because the Beta section was HORRIBLE!!! There was dead betas, betas with water that resembled apple cider vinegar, and it looked like the betas haven't been cared for, for weeks! Took my 2yo Yorkie that we've only had for a year for his first grooming since being with us. About 2 hours into the grooming I get a call back stating they were unable to complete it due to his aggression and a safety for the employees. I noted he gets aggressive with his nails being cut and they stated that's when they were having the issues. The manager (I'm assuming) told me over the phone they would have called animal control on him if they had continued with the grooming. Out of everything I've read about their services I never saw ANYTHING stating animal control would ever be called. I just don't even understand why that was needed to be said. The animal control threat shocked me and left a horrible taste in my mouth. I understand wanting your employees safe but obviously it's common sense to stop when a dog is having ongoing issues. After leaving a review I was sent, the manager reached out to me via email claiming they will try again with him. Although I appreciate the offer, the animal control threat is what did it for me. We will never go back there for his grooming. Why would I even want to chance it? Fast forward 3 weeks since the grooming and we've noticed such a huge increase in his aggression. Especially when putting a leash on him. A dog who would be jumping and excited for walks is now biting us in ways he never has. Unfortunately it took us this long to put 2 and 2 together to realize his change in behavior has started ever since the grooming. Now we're scared to even take him to another groomer because we don't know what his reactions are going to be. I requested a round face cut like a teddy bear. When I told Rebecca (a manager) that I was disappointed she completely ignored me. When I called & spoke to Mark to tel him how disappointed we were he said I had been offered my money back but I refused which was a total lie. Then he went on to tell me that I was not specific enough. Then he went further on to say my dog doesn't have the type of hair to have a teddy bear cut and that the cut doesn't exist. If that were the case they could have told me that beforehand or just rounded out his face anyway but they didn't do either. Nor did they apologize or even take any responsibility. They did refund my money but the reason I wrote the review is for how I was treated after speaking up. This is the reason I will not return or recommend this place. Pretty annoyed no one offered to help me while I was there. First off there were two tanks where a majority of the fish were dead and being sucked into filters which is messed up. Secondly, I had my hands full with my toddler and trying to get a 50lb bag of dog food, I was obviously struggling and three employees walked by me and none of them offered to help. We had an appointment at 1130 for grooming. We dropped him off around 1120. We left and took care of some things around the area for 3 hours as they said that it would be 3 hours. We didn't receive a call so we went to check up on our baby boy. At 230pm (3 hours after appointment) they said they hadn't even started on him yet because "they got slammed". Then it took another hour to finish him. While I was driving home wife noticed they didn't even clean his ears as they said they were going to and when I picked him up the groomer (I didn't catch her name) said that she did his nails for free because we waited so long yet we had already paid for it when we dropped him off. When we got home (30 minute drive) wife called and spoke to the manager Dan to complain about it and he apologized and said next time to set up appointment with Mark (the grooming manager) as he does a really good job and said he was going to talk to the groomers to put in the system that our next grooming appointment is to be free of charge. Her nails have gotten to a place I needed help and since I live nearby and saw there is a walk-in option for nail trim. I decided to take advantage and load her into the car (no easy feat!) I am a single mom that works full time so as most my time is limited. I bring her to the back and the sign on the door (as online) said Sunday 8-6. The door was open but no one is around. I left my kid with her in the grooming area because she moved very slowly and getting about is not easy. I tracked down one employee, I asked about the grooming and they radioed someone. Then she said "the grooming is closed for the day" without even looking at me and immediately turned and walked off. I found someone else and tried to ask how to know the grooming hours of operation. She said "I think it's on the door" and I said "yes it says 8-6 and no one is there" she said "well if they don't have a lot of appointments they leave for the day". This is advertised online as a WALK-IN option. Do not advertise there is a walk-in option if you are going to randomly close! Petsmart needs to do something about this store and their jaded employees. read more

Tried to make an appointment to get my dog groomed while he will be there for 8 hours for a drop off appointment getting his vet comprehensive exam. Asked Banfield if they would accommodate my dog having a grooming appointment within the vet appointment and they were more than willing to help take care of his needs. Called over to the grooming department to make his appointment and was told that they could not see my dog and accommodate his grooming within the 8 hours that my dog will already be in their store. Why?! My dog will literally be sitting in a kennel patiently waiting his turn to see the vet, why can he not be taken care of during that time? Why can't the 8 hours be utilized and take care of all of my dogs needs?! Not efficient or convenient. This review is not towards Banfield, they always go above and beyond for my dog. read more

Next this PetSmart location has some of the most snobby, officious, and snarky employees, they say they welcome price matches off their website but when you bring it up they act like it's the end of the world, and even when you don't have a price match, their prices are never right, they're totally different on shelf then they are on the register screen so make sure you take a picture of the product you're buying so when you go up it's correct, because if not they will make you run back and forth a few times to get a picture of the price and then make you wait another few minutes verifying it's the right product. So needless to say I would definitely drive the few extra minutes to the PetSmart across town!! read more

I have 2 cats that needed to be groomed and my baby girl Xena isn't the nicest kitty around. Finding a groomer that is willing to do difficult cats is hard to find for a decent price. Jess is absolutely phenomenal with my cats. She agreed to try and she was able to to get it done and make her look good! She was so patient with Xena gave her breaks when needed and the groomers who help assist are just as great, I can definitely put my trust in them. Affordable prices too! I highly recommend giving this petsmart grooming a try to anyone looking for a regular groomer. read more

Took our dog in 3 weeks ago the girl said he had worms couldn't groom him. We took him to vet and he wormed him got a clean bill of health. We went back to pet smart, the same girl scratched his head said he still had fleas so he still had worms and would not groom him. What a retard what is a flea bath good for if they have no fleas when you live in the country and your dog goes outside to do his business. And to assume since he has fleas he also has worms. Never had a problem with this in the previous year we went there but that is the last time drove a long way from canyon lake to get there and then get a call to come pickup your dog we refuse to work on him. I used to get great service here, but it has declined significantly recently. Yesterday, when I went, they automatically signed my dog up for a follow up appointment (that I didn't want), but they encouraged me to keep the appointment because I would receive a $3 discount when I checked out. Well, I just went back over the price and my receipt and realized that I didn't get the $3 discount (I know - I should have checked!). Also, they used to give me a written report of how my dog did but they haven't done that the last two times I've been there. I still get the brochure, but it only lists what services my dog received. No note about how she behaved. The cashier yesterday was stumped when the customer in front of my owed $14.06 and handed her $20.06. Unfortunately, the cashier had already entered $20.00 as the amount paid, not seeing that the customer was trying to give her the 6 cents, too. The cashier was completely confused about how much change to give the customer and had to get help. I tried to buy 4 dog toys yesterday, as well. There was a section of dog toys marked down with stickers showing the original price and the markdown price. So I selected several. They rang up for full price, so I told the cashier (same cashier that was confused about the change...) that these were all marked as being on sale. She told me that they were Ellen DeGeneres toys and they don't put those on sale. She made me look like I was trying to shoplift (there was a long line of customers behind me). So I told her I didn't want the toys and after I paid my bill, I asked for an employee to accompany me to the toy area so I could show them the signs. An employee followed me to the area, saw the signs, agreed I was correct about the sign placement and simply took the signs down!!!! Needless to say, we will be looking for a new place to shop. read more

I have given the grooming salon chance after chance. I have two very small dogs that get very furry. The grooming staff for one isn't the nicest people. I have told them on the phone and in person directions on how I want my dogs hair cuts. Not once have they done it right. Each time I tried with someone new, and the same results happen. When I pick up my dogs and I see them not do what I ask, I ask them to cut more off the tail or ear, they give attitude. I am thrilled with the grooming job Ms Megan gave my dog Trudy. I had never gotten Trudy's fur cut and was really nervous about it, not to mention that she gets nervous when she's away from home without me. But Megan and the other groomers were so kind and gentle with her. And Trudy looks fantastic now and still feels soft as ever! I chose to get her groomed along with the defurminator service, and it seems to have reduced her shedding so much! We will be back. read more

They would not do what I wanted and they would still charge me for it. I would ask for them to grind his nails and they did not do it. Not only did they not grind his nails but when it came to clipping them, all his nails were split. I had upgraded his bath because the last time I took him he didn't smell as clean. I had made an appointment for my two labs to get baths. They had their booster Rabies at the vet this morning. Petsmart groomers refused to take them stating they had to wait 48 hours for the vaccine to take effect. Had the known this, I would have brought in their old Rabies vaccine certificate, which is still good for a few months.. Either way, this should be a disclosure when making appointments so we don't waste pet owner time and appointments. Ridiculous, seriously... I will be going to a locally owned groomer next time. Everyone up front at Petsmart and Banfield are just amazing. They are so helpful and knowledgeable about the products they sell and the staff at Banfield is always so friendly and will answer any questions I have until I fully understand. Y'all are great!! I would give 5 stars if it weren't for their in-store grooming salon. I take my dog there on a regular basis for baths and touch up services. Although recently, we've just had the worst experiences. I was just there today get him the "Touch Up" service listed on their menu and this was pretty much the last straw... First complaint: One of the ladies (a little bit older, she seemed like she might've been the shift manager or something) there literally started arguing with me as to the correct package I was asking for, even though their menu clearly states what is included in each. I would like to think I am competent enough to be able to follow a simple menu. I finally just told her fine, as long as what I need for my dog gets done, I could care less about what it's called. Second complaint: When I was leaving the store, I called the grooming salon and spoke to a different person (a male) there to let them know I would be a few stores down and asked if they would call me when my dog was ready (I've done this multiple times in the past with no problem). "No problem at all, we'll give you a call as soon as he's ready" ....an hour goes by... I figured they might have been busy seeing today is Saturday and I'm sure they had to tend to a lot of customers. I finally call and ask is he's ready. Yes, he's ready. No, no call to let me know. So I go back in to the store to pick him up. The same woman that gave me such a hard time about which package I was ordering was at the front desk of the salon. I told her I was here to pick up my dog, and gave her his name. She proceeded to rudely tell me that I was actually "not allowed" to leave the store when my dog gets a small service like that as it doesn't take much time. I explained to her that I called right when I left and the gentleman I spoke to said it was fine and that they would call me when my dog was ready. She replied with "Well, I don't know who you spoke to but that's not right. You're not allowed to leave the store. We called you over the intercom multiple times and we can't just keep your dog here until you're done with your other shopping." I told her that this has never been an issue in the past and she just ignored me and walked off. I normally get a progress report to see what all services were done on my dog and how he was with all of them. Today, nothing. For all I know, they could've just put a bandana on him and said he was ready. Basically, the lack of communication within the salon is now made to be my fault. And due to her horrible attitude and lack of basic customer service, I am now seriously considering taking my business elsewhere. read more
