Dog Injured At Pet Smart Boarding We took our sweet puppies Princess and Sparkle to be boarded at Pet Smart over the weekend. At or about Sunday, October 17, 2021, Pet Smart began bombarding my wife with calls from morning to afternoon. We learned that something happened to Sparkle's leg, but mysteriously no one knew what happened. At first we were told that there was an injury to Princess, but we were then told that it was Sparkle. We were told that Sparkle would be taken to a Vet. When Princess and Sparkle were picked up this afternoon, she came home with a dog cone around her neck and a STAPLE in her CUT leg. I don't care if we were not charged for boarding and the Vet fee was free as a result, this is downright negligence. I would really like to know what the hell happened to my dog's CUT leg, because I have a hard time believing that no one knows. The question becomes, what would the very likely trail of blood tell you on the floor near wherever the mysterious injury occurred. There had to be blood near where the injury occurred. My issue is, just be honest and tell the truth. Don't make stuff up, especially when my dog comes home with a STAPLE in her CUT leg. It's dishonest and I will not be taking my dogs back here again. I recommend that no one brings their dogs to board here. I would give this place 0 starts for the experience if I could. My dog is traumatized! read more

This review is for doggy day camp. We were on vacation and spending the day in Memphis so decided to send my 13.5 year old dog to day camp. I called ahead to ask all of my questions as I had never sent my dog to day came before. Over the phone and when I arrived, I was helped by a male employee (friendly). But halfway through my interaction with him, Michaelee took over. She was not very personable and really left me with the wrong impression and actually had me worried and emotional before sending my dog to day camp. When I called over the phone, I was informed that there were enough small dogs to have a camp session with similar size dogs. We were only sending my dog for a half day session and arrived between 11:30-12:00. Michaelee told me that there weren't and pointed at the only visible camp room, which had a full house of large dogs. Since my dog is older and his vision isn't all that great, it really didn't seem realistic that he'd fend well with the larger dogs let alone not be clobbered by their giant dog legs. Well you really shouldn't tell customers false information let alone a pregnant woman information that will make her emotional and upset... and apparently for no reason. When she took my dog back there to socialize with the "big dogs" she ended up informing us that that WAS in fact a group for small dog camp that he'd be in. Their set up is strange because you can only see ONE group of dog camp (big dogs in this case). This didn't help me feel better initially as their video footage of the other camp rooms were on a small tv screen split into four different rooms and the footage kept cutting in and out. When I came to pick up my dog, Michaelee proceeded to say "see you had nothing to worry about". Well if you hadn't initially told me false information, this pregnant lady wouldn't have been upset and emotional on the first place. Within a few hours of leaving, I received an email from Persmart asking about how my experience was at day camp. I submitted my feedback and asked for a call back, but to this day (two months later) have not received a call back. I wouldn't recommend this store or day camp. Run, run far away from this store. read more

My toy poodle is a house dog so I just asked for a bath and trim his nails. They did not rinse him well so his fur still had shampoo residue in it making his coat look dry with a lot of flakes. They sanded the padding of his paws and cut his hair (which neither was asked for). The padding was no longer brown, it was pink and the lady found it funny that he cried the entire time of the sanding. A professional should know whether to sand or not judging by the roughness. A person with feelings should understand if someone or something is crying, something is not right. Not satisfied at all! read more

Most of the workers in the pet salon are very good, but there's one who ruined the whole experience. Whenever Jennifer is assigned to bathe our dogs, they seem to come back worse than when we took them. She seems incapable of washing and drying dogs. We've heard other customers saying the same thing. She also seems to treat other employees like crap. I don't understand why Petsmart management puts up with lousy employees. If you take your dogs to this Petsmart, be sure to request that Jennifer NOT be assigned. You and your dogs will be much happier. read more

If possible wouldn't give any stars. Would not recommend bringing your animal to Petsmart on Germantown Pkwy for grooming. Took my 13 pound maltipoo, to have a trim and her nails clipped. They called and said they are unable to cut her. When I picked up, they told me it is no charge because only parts of her got cut. This review is for the petshotel. My dog stayed for 7 nights, with 3 days of doggie day camp. I drop my baby off with her bed and toys. When I pick her up, she is noticeably thinner and her bed and her fur smell of urine. I am perplexed. I have taken her to petshotel locations up north in New Jersey multiple times when we lived there. She never came back to me like this. She does not go to the bathroom in her crate and she is not shy to eat. While I do not have proof, the evidence suggests that my dog was not taken for her designated walks or they were not long enough. I also question if she was given all of her meals or if she was even given her doggie day camp time. I also never received the usual pawgress reports outlining her play, potty, and eating habits. I remember the counter clerk when I checked her in telling me that they are understaffed and have several dogs this weekend. This all adds to my assumption that nobody took care of my baby like they were supposed to. I think back to this moment and cringe. I feel guilty for putting her in this situation and I no longer trust petsmart. We no longer shop at the chain or use any of their services. And I share this store with all of my coworkers at one of the major employers in the Memphis region. This is tantamount to animal cruelty and if I had a nanny cam on my dog for proof, I would most definitely press charges. I highly urge you to never take your dog here. Fortunately, my baby quickly recovered after a nice bath and lots of food. She did lose 2.5 lbs (7% of her body weight) during that week. She is back up to her pre-petshotel weight and will be boarded at a pet-loving facility. read more

This review is for grooming. I wish I would have read the other reviews before my wife took in our standard poodle. She has taken him for trims in the past, but took him for a full cut most recently. She asked for a 1" teddy bear cut, and provided pictures. The groomer, Amber, assured she could handle it. When I picked him up, it was not what I expected; however, I wasn't there when she explained what she wanted. My dog's face had been trimmed, his tail had not been touched, and he had basically been shaved down to about 1/4", with random long spots as well as scalped spots. I took him home, and my wife confirmed this was not what she asked for. My wife called and asked to speak with a manager. She was told there was not a manager and to call back the next day. She called back the next day, but was told the manager was not available. She called multiple times, but was told the same thing every time. It was bad enough that they totally messed up a $100 grooming, but the customer service has proven to be just as bad as their grooming skills. We will not be returning with our pup. Lucy in the pet salon is very patient and nice to me and my dog whenever we visit. She even tried to help me stya on track with grooming appointments by scheduling them in advance. I'd recommend her and the salon to anyone. The vet's office well the only reason I go is because my dog has insurance with Banfield, if not for that I'd pick some place else. The front desk staff has high turnover and often seem like they don't want to be there. I never feel welcomed, as for the docs I try to stick to one, but that's kind of hard when schedules change. read more

I actually had the absolute worst experience at this particular store. I have been a member for 5 years now and I hate that this is the closest store to me. My husband is military and I am constantly moving so with that being said I'm usually very reluctant to shop at PetSmart. Dave the Assistant Manager has given me the worst service on two different occasions. I don't understand why someone that would even do the things he has done would be considered for any managerial position ! The first visit doesn't equate to the last visit. I went to make a return I had 3 items. He took all three items , rang up 3 items, told me the total of 29.37, told me to sign the pen pad which I did...... but the pen pad read 42.63. So he went and deleted my signature took off one of the items and told me to sign again! This time the pen pad read 29.37. I signed, he handed me my money fold up like a drug transaction with no receipt . When I asked for a receipt (HE TOOK 2 PEOPLE IN LINE!) then Dave instructed for someone else to give me a receipt. Once she did, I noticed that Dave rang up 2 items not 3 ON PURPOSE ! I'm baffled, I'm disgusted at my treatment and I wish to never see this man or visit this store again. Thumbs Down ! This is the only place in the area that carries the Blue Buffalo brand mature cat food that my ancient kitty will eat. So, kudos for finally finding a brand that he won't turn his nose up at. Petsmart tends to carry a healthy selection of birds, gerbils, hamsters, and guinea pigs, the occasional cats/kittens for adoption and they offer pet grooming as well. They also have local pet shelters come for adoption days on Saturdays, which is nice. I find that they do some pretty high mark-ups on things like citronella collars. And, I don't like that they don't carry specialty foods like Innova, which my dogs eat. read more

I'm not one for writing reviews- but read this if your furbaby is kinda new to being groomed. I've taken my dog to Petco for most of her life, but they were booked so we decided to give this a shot. On arrival the receptionist/technician in training was slightly cold to me and my grandmother, but I'm understanding so I decided to continue as she might not have been having a good day. I returned in the expected amount of time, TWICE to being told my dog was being difficult, to give it more time. When I returned the last time I looked through the window to a different technician struggling with my dog to get her head trimmed. That was enough. It had been 4 hours. When I walked in the grooming room I apologized heavily for her behavior, only for them to call her a "bad dog". She was SCARED. In no way is my dog a bad dog! I feel so disrespected, I'm shocked I didn't shoot my mouth off there. I gave them a smile, agreed, and took my baby on her merry way, because they're not going to take the smile off her face! Took my little shih tzu in for a groom at Petsmart on Friday. We had been there before with great results. This time it was the worst grooming my dog had ever gotten. Uneven all over and the groomer had cut her long pretty ears completely off. Her ears were about 4 inches long when we dropped her off and when we picked her up her ears had been completely clipped off. She doesn't even resemble a shih tzu. My fiancé dropped out 9 month old husky for his appointment, he sent me a video And the lady looked very annoyed trimming his nails and pulled his back paw pretty hard. After THREE minutes of my fiancé getting in the car I get a call from them... saying THEY WERE DONE WITH HIS NAILS.... mind you THREE minutes after our dog being dropped off, and I'm sure of the time because I have the calls registered on my phone, so I was told they were done with his nails that he "flipped out" as soon as they tried to shower him. Once my fiancé go back to pick him up he was WET... they didn't even mind drying him.... and i came come to my poor dogs nails chopped like if the bit them off with they own teeth.... Now my baby is not eating if either of us is there with him, and he is not the energetic friendly fur ball he usually is.... if I could give 0 stars I WOULD! Mind you online the regular bath said to be $45, and after my fiancé pick our boy up they him we wouldn't be charged for the $78 for the appointment... DONT TAKE TOU BABIES HERE!!! read more

This review is only for their pet grooming and not for the rest of the store. Not only did I not get a reminder call, I didn't even get a call when my dog was ready. Apparently they thought I was a mind reader. In addition, they asked if I wanted what I got last time and named what I got which sounded like a basic package -- bath, haircut, ear plucked -- so I said yes. They failed to mention that I got the premium + add-on package last time (a year ago). Keep in mind that it's been a year bc I found other places and I decided to go back to petsmart only bc I was able to get my dog in the soonest there. There's a lot of other places that offer the same services for a more reasonable prices. Had I not complained I would've been charged $70. It would've only cost $50 anywhere else for the same package. I still got charged $62 with a 10% off discount. The only saving grace was that they did give out a "pawgress" report. But if I wanted to pay an extra $20 for a report, I'll just ask next time. Will take my dog elsewhere and avoid petsmart. read more

I was very excited to get me a hamster. I saw that the prices were low on them so I decided to go in for one. As soon as I arrived I wasn't greeted by anyone and had to find what aisle I was looking for. I had to go up to an employee who was very rude but somewhat assisted me (she was mexican). When I finally was assisted by someone else I basically wasn't. I asked her specifically for a fatter hamster...she was even about to sell me one that bit someone just the day before. When it came to buying the proper things I needed I basically paid overprice for EVERYTHING. My cage for my hamster is way too small. It is 3:15 am and he is gnawing at his cage as I type this. I found out this is due to stress from his cage being so small! I would NEVER come back for anything unless it's treats or food.. read more

This review is mostly towards the grooming salon. LUCY...THANK GOD FOR LUCY! She is the only one who can control my wild thornberry when it comes to being groomed. Lucy does an outstanding job on my baby especially with Sookie being nervous and spoiled. Lucy is very friendly and patient...but Sookie doesn't care either way because as soon as we turn in by Target she cries for help lol. PetSmart is hit or miss on having all the items we want, but that isn't the store's fault. We came in looking for a sling for our newly disabled dog, who loves the outdoors. We didn't find what we were looking for, so we decided to roam around. We're in town from Des Moines, and the dogs needed their nails trimmed, so we stopped into the salon to see if that was possible. The girls at the salon were great, we told them about our dogs and their past. They found our records online after searching the system, and got them taken care of right away. When they started the nail trim, one tech did the nails while the other pet our first dog's ears, kept him calm and happy. When it came to our smaller, disabled dog, they were very attentive. One held her while the other did the trim. It took them longer to get her comfortable, but they somehow did. They figured out what made her uncomfortable and told us, so that we could let our normal PS groomers know. They were incredibly sweet and loved our dogs, even though they'll likely never meet them again. Clean store, clean cages/enclosures and helpful staff. Can't really go wrong! read more

I boarded my 2 dogs here twice, and the second time they were excited to see the staff again. It's not as cheap as other places, but they get out of their crates and get to play with other dogs and staff. Don't worry, the staff is just as friendly with people as with animals. We have used the hotel several time in the past 2 years and have been happy...until yesterday. I boarded my 2 older furbabies for 2 nights over thanksgiving. They stay in the same kennel to keep each other company. They had blankets and toys with them. When I picked them up, I was given their blankets in a trash bag and was told they were a little wey and would need to be washed. When I got home and opened the bag, the blankets were still folded and were so soaked with urine that they were dripping and heavy. So,it appears to me that the blankets I sent with my babies were not even unfolded for them. One of my babies is only able to sleep if she's under a blanket.STRIKE ONE... As soon as we walked in the door they both headed straight to the water bowl and drank it dry. I filled it up again, and they drank that dry too. STRIKE TWO... This morning, one of my babies is so hoarse, that he can barely bark. I feel like they were put in the kennel and ignored until I picked them up. STRIKE THREE....I paid $150 for my babies to have sub par care and it infuriates me and hurts my heart. I won't be going back there and will make sure none of my friends take their babies there either. "For the love of pets"...what a crock!! read more

This review is for the salon. I have been taking my Shitzu here for the past 2 years for grooming. Last week we dropped him off for his appointment, we received a call a few hours later stating that he would not allow them to cut his hair. Not a problem we made another appointment for today. 10 minutes before the appointment began we got a call stating that since he wouldn't allow them to cut his hair last week they would no longer complete this service for him. What they fail to understand is the reason he was so worked up was when we were checking him in last week there was a labradoodle raising all kinds of issues which got mine all worked up. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else. I live 30 minutes away so wasted over an hour back and forth. read more

So I brought my dog here about 2 weeks ago and paid for the visit and a short 5 minute exam that included a vaccine shot. And today I walk in asking about buying worm medicine for my pet not wanting to pay for another back to back appointment and I get turned away. The lady at the desk walked in the back twice asking about my situation and I could see the veterinary and assistants just standing around talking which I think was very unprofessional. If they had nothing better to do maybe one of them could have came and spoke to me about my pet. Needless to say I will not be back to this establishment. read more

Had to go out of town last minute and we were able to get a Petshotel reservation right away. The first time my large breed dog went in, he was terrified of us leaving him there. This time, he couldn't wait to go back there. He gets to play with other dogs his size at the doggy day camp and the Groomers always do a fantastic job. Associates of the hotel always have such positive things to say about him. He always seems like he's been happy the whole time and sleeps really well when he gets home. Also, I absolutely love the "Pawgress reports". Nobody ever seems annoyed when I call to check up on him. I'm so pleased with the care he receives. We will be using this Petshotel and daycamp every time I need to go out of town. I plan on taking him back to the groomer the next time he needs his nails done. They love and spoil my giant mutt, and we're all a little happier because of it. read more

I started buying "kidney care" dog food at Petsmart Wolfchase for my 11 year old , Sick dog in September of 2020 , previously veryfing by phone that No prescription was needed. Two days ago , once again, I went to Petsmart - Wolfchase to buy a bag and 2 cans Of food. At the register, I was asked for a prescription... I was surprised and I replied with basically what I aforementioned. She called the manager and after I explained that I consistently have been buying the food for the last 4 months without prescription, , the only answer I repeatedly got was that " we are not allowed to sell this food without prescription" even after I explained that although they were not allowed I had Been Buying the food for months and over the phone I was told it was not needed. She could not care less ... I offered to bring the prescription on Monday when my vet open the clinic , I told her he was a sick old dog and did not have any more food , I asked her how I was able to get the food over 5 times without it and then on this urgent situation it was not possible . As an owner of a medical clinic dealing with this type of health related situations I expect A store like Petsmart to carefully select the people who would make decisions specially when it comes to the well being of a Pet who is to us - and I am sure most people who owns one - a "furry child". I have used Petsmart Hotel for almost 3 years for day camp for my 2 goldendoodles. They contacted kennel cough from camp on 3/14/13. They had let a dog "with a cold" stay there from 3/7-3/14/13. About a week later my goldendoodles started coughing and vet diagnosed kennel cough. My dogs were vaccinated & healthy upon going to camp. I have 2 other dogs that are now infected ... plus all the dogs MY dogs have come in contact with are now infected. Petsmart should have called Petparents immediately when the little dog was told it had kennel cough. But no, Petsmart has not made a statement or called ...they are just letting parents call one by one. Petsmart is not covering vet bills. All the managers are admitting the little dog was boarded with kennel cough but sorry ... your healthy dog is just now infected. None of those employees have to deal with dogs coughing, throwing up and being lifeless. I entrusted my dogs to their care. The least that pet smart could do ...first was call to warn what had happened and secondly pay vet bills. And if Petsmart couldn't do that ... they should have offered a free groom or free day care sessions. But because of noncaring Managers such as Dan... they will lose my business of 3 years. I will continue using the services of my groomer there but honestly I am afraid of taking my dogs into that store again. read more
