Completely and utterly incompetent. Placed an online order for 18# bag of dog food, received "your order is ready"at 10:53am, arrived at Joliet, IL store at about 12:50pm, store associate checks, checks again, uses handheld to lookup order number, tries to lookup by last name, used different device, state "your order doesn't exist"despite showing her emails and receipt (yes it was the correct store I was at for pickup). Has me just buy one off the shelf (the whole point was to be quick in and out), tells me she can't cancel the order, call online number. After leaving the store calls my wife whom placed the order and says oh we found your order it was just in a shopping cart in the aisle (b.s. then why couldn't you look it up and why did I see no such thing as I walked the store?) I get home and call the number, which I could barely hear or understand that person, they place me on a long hold only to tell me that no one is answering at the local store I just came from and that's who would have to cancel the order and to just wait and order will cancel after 3 days and then in another 3-5 days I can be refunded..... ARE YOU PAYING ME INTEREST TO HOLD/USE MY MONEY THAT MANY DAYS?! ARE YOU USING A CARRIER PIGEON TO GET TO AND FROM THE BANKS? IS IT NOT 2026? DID PETSMART HAVE ZERO ISSUE WITH TAKING MY MONEY IMMEDIATELY FROM MY BANK? The grooming staff in the morning is rude, they don't know how to talk to people...constant put downs for no reason to customers. They don't know how to diffuse any situation and the manager Reba or Renee whatever her name is, is a joke!! We were told there wasn't a manager in duty and then all of a sudden one appeared..weird. Tried to talk to that person to get our questions answered but needless to say none of our dreams are coming true. No answers, more rudeness..what is going on in this place????? Tried one more time to talk to the manager at the actual store..also a joke. I think her name was Jara, or something. I told her how we were treated and how unprofessional the staff was hoping she would go coach them and re-train them - thought that would be the end of it.. However..that was not the case..instead Jara said "if" this is true then I will talk to them. If?!?!? What??? If??? Who says that?? I am leaving this review for the PetSmart location after a very disappointing experience. I usually go to the Chicago location where the staff is kind and professional, but this time it was completely different. The manager, Madison C., was rude and unprofessional. Every previous groomer has told me my puppy behaves very well, especially for his breed -- and let me repeat, he is a puppy. Groomers should have patience when working with young dogs. They returned Coco still wet, and we had to finish drying him at home in the cold Chicago weather. Afterward, he started sneezing, and now only three days after his bath he has a strong damp "wet dog" smell, as if he was not properly dried. When I called, I was told my puppy tried to bite her, but in person she changed the story and said he hit her in the face, which is inconsistent and concerning. It felt like the issue began when I declined the extra deshedding charge, which was presented as a recommendation, not a requirement. Leaving a puppy wet and refusing to issue a refund is unacceptable. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend bringing your baby (puppy) here due to the poor treatment and lack of professionalism read more

We came in to buy superworms for our adult bearded dragon. Long story short, we noticed 3 baby bearded dragons at different ages in the same tank. The smallest beardie was clearly being bullied by the older beardies. The biggest one stepping on his head and putting his body weigh on the smallest one. The baby looked depressed and we noticed by where they sell crickets, there was a note saying "keep an eye on small beardie, might have to separate". Why would they sit and wait to see the abuse play out...the poor baby honestly didn't look like he was going to make it through the night with the way the older ones were treating him and how exhausted he already looked. My girlfriend and I only rescue animals. We don't buy from pet stores, especially petsmart or petco, but he was clearly being neglected. I couldn't bring myself to leave him there. So we adopted him and brought him home. They wouldn't allow us to handle him at the store, but he allowed us to handle him the moment we got home and my girlfriend noticed right away that his tail and one of his toes had bite marks on them. It looked like it was rotting. It's been six days since we've had him. By the fifth day his tail and toe had fallen off. Now we have to take him to the vet to get him looked at. I don't understand the companies policy on holding reptiles. But I do know Pet Supply separates every bearded dragon, no matter how young. Shame on this particular store and shame on the company for allowing bearded dragons to live in the same enclosure knowing ones already being mistreated. Worst of all, from the moment we adopted him to this day, there are two empty tanks next the the bearded dragons that now that four in one tiny tank. You guys are a pet store. Do better. For love of your pets... don't use this place for gromming! I had schedule Bath & Brush for both my Goldens today! When I arrived they have a note in the computer from previous appointment saying my dog had some comportament issues in the last gromming (who we did in WV)! I'm thought this is weird because normally, he is really ok during shower and dry time ( we never have this kind of problem in another Grooming space used here in the US or in Brazil)! I let my dogs at 2pm and when is 3:30pm i received a call saying I need go pick up Buddy because he was bitting (weird, but I arrived in less then 5 min to pick up.) When I arrive, the lady at front desk told me he is trying to eat the cage, and I tought he is already showerd and is just waiting for my another dog be done.But when they bring him, he is the way I let him... after 1 hour and 30 minutes waiting, I receive my dog dirty like i let him and with his belly and foots wet (probably for stay in a wet area waiting). Is obvious the dog will start eating the cage, since is a stressful enviroment. When I questionate the crew about why he is not showered yet, and the girl who I think is the manager ask the guy - Gabriel G - who was responsible for his bath who only said: "yes, I don't start yet"... without extra explanations or appologies.Worst service EVER. I ask they about my other dog, and they answer: "Ah, we already give her a shower, but now we will let her rest a little"... and my question is WHY? She need rest or the people who work at this place is lazy and tired? I ask they for bring her and I return to my home with one dog with belly and foots wet (without bath) and one dog "washed" and smelling like a dead fish. I need finished ttheir bath in home, and wash my car completely, just because they are not able to do the job they are paid for do. If for us, humans is stressful stay in a place waiting for one thing you was suppose to be attend on time, imagine for one dog. SECOND: If you are not happy with the kind of job you do, PLEASE find another Job. For work with animals, old people and in hospital.... YOU NEED TO HAVE THE GIFT to do this. Is not a position you can do just for the money. THIRD: The team working in this place, in busy days, like near to holidays, need be prepare to work fast, organized and under stress. Thing this people definetily don't have. OBSERVATION: I use grooming since I have my dogs (almost 8 years). Normally in good places, my dogs expend around 1-2 hours for shower, dry and brush. I am writing this so that other customers and their pets might be treated better. We have two golden doodles and have used PetSmart Joliet for grooming approximately 2+ years and doggy daycamp, plus training for over 6 years. Our dogs are almost 7 now. We have never written or voiced a complaint about Petsmart or the Grooming Center until now, though I personally have witnessed questionable customer service issues with the grooming staff. This is the one area of the store where I've heard the staff speak rudely or say inappropriate things. I have witnessed at least 2 of them speaking poorly about the daycamp personnel and about paying customers. Our one dog (male) suddenly began experiencing anxiety when being left with the groomer - shaking, diarrhea, panting, etc. We discussed it with the groomer and it was suggested that we schedule him early mornings when other dogs were not present. However, while making a doggycamp reservation, the phone rep offered to schedule their next grooming with the person who always grooms them. The first available time was late in the day on a Sunday. I thought that maybe a Sunday with the groomer might be better than a busy weekday. I later received a call from the groomer to reschedule. She said "I can't possibly do two dogs in a 3 hour time slot". She told me that the call center "does not know how to schedule grooming and that in the future I should schedule online or call the groomers directly". I was frustrated by her tone but but still I scheduled them for a 7 am appointment, a few days out. I arrived at 6:50 and the shampoo person was rude. She said that I was too early and she couldn't check the dogs in herself. She also said that the groomer would not arrive until 7:05. I told her our appointme was for 7 am and she said "7, 7:05, not a big difference". I walked the store to wait for the groomer and checked the dogs in at 7:05. My dogs were groomed and sent to doggy daycamp for pick up. I arrived shortly after receiving word that they were ready. My male dog was still skiddish and anxious even after we returned home. I thought this was strange since I chose to have them go to doggie daycamp after the groomer to provide him with some balance, since they love the staff there. When we got home I noticed that he had two abrasions around his genital area. I took a photo. I also called PetSmart to speak with the daycamp manager. The conversation was not helpful. I called back and asked for the store manager who was on vacation and was told that I should call back. I then called the customer support number and shared this recent grooming issue plus other concerns surrounding customer service from the grooming personnel. They assured me that they would investigate and get back to me with 48 hours. I didn't hear back so I emailed them a week later. Again they assured me of follow up within 48 hours. I didn't hear back so I emailed again. Two more days later I heard from the store manager. She basically said that my dog's abrasions didn't happen with the groomer. We spend alot of money and time at Petsmart. We understand that skirming, or anxious pets can cause an abrasion or two to occur, by accident. Still, simple customer service means to to be polite, follow up when concerns promptly and most importantly - to let dog parents know when an accident occurs. We entrusted Petsmart with our beloved pets and of course, they cannot speak up for themselves. As their parents, we do what we must to keep them safe. At this point, even lodging this complaint, concerns us on how they (and we) will be treated. We still have the prepaid visits for them at doggy daycamp and will finish those out. We are finding a new groomer and will no longer utilize petsmart products or services. Sad, but angry. read more

This place is a total mess. The management is a joke, and they make it clear they do not care about customers. I waited in line behind 7 other people while 2 cashers stood at one register. When I said " why is your manager not helping out" I was ignored. I then called the store to speak to the manager and she said that i should be concerned that they were training someone!! This manager's attitude was atrocious, and she made it clear that she does not care about her customers. When I told her she just lost a customer because of her attitude she said ok we don't need customers that call and complain to management when we are busty. I told her I will have a conversation with her manager and the DM, and she said OK because they will tell them first a story and they will not believe you. I have been bringing my dog here for OVER a decade! She has never gotten hurt or mistreated. I actually train my dog and work with her so she's use to being bathed and her nails touched. I've priced out small shops and they might be 10$ cheaper but they have no one to answer to if they mistreat a dog. NOT EVER AGAIN!! We left our silky terrier at the pets hotel in Joliet on Plainfield Road for five nights over the Memorial Day weekend. Picked him up Tuesday morning and everything seemed fine until we got him to the car. I was holding him in the passenger seat and my husband was driving. Immediately we smelled an odor but couldn't tell where it was coming from. I leaned over to smell our dog and was shocked when I realized the odor was coming from him. He smelled of feces and it was so bad I had to open a window. We got him home and I immediately gave him a bath. After bathing him I could still smell the odor. It took me a couple of minutes before I realized the odor had clung to my shirt while I was holding him in the car. We believe most of his time there was spent in a cage because his legs seemed wobbly when we set him down. My husband took him on a walk and he said our dog had gone number two like he hadn't gone in days. He probably hadn't. We had also sent a new bag of his favorite treats with him to the hotel only to find out the bag was never even opened for him. This place sounds great online, but it's a dump! These people do not care. We will NEVER leave our dog here again and we would not ever recommend it to anyone. We feel so guilty and angry we trusted these people with our little guy. I bought a gerbil and a 10 gallon tank for him. He was acting very shy, he wouldn't come out of his house, and when he did come out to get food he would grab food and run back in. I later found out that they are usually supposed to be in pairs. Nobody told me this. I went there today to talk to somebody about it and I was told that my tank (10 gallons) was too small. That it should be about 20 gallons PER gerbil. So now I have a gerbil with too small of a living space and no friends. The girl told me that they don't tell people that gerbils are supposed to be in pairs because people buy small tanks. Maybe don't let people buy too small of tanks for multiple gerbils or even one gerbil?? I only gave 2 stars because they are letting me bring him back because I feel terrible that I'm making him live in very unideal conditions. read more

Went to the salon to get my dogs nails trimmed a few Saturdays ago. They were really busy to the point many of us were waiting outside the salon. Once I finally made it in the salon I seen the workers doing their best to help everyone and their dogs. After waiting for 20 minutes I decided to leave and not have my dogs nails done. While I seen everyone working as hard as they could I also seen the salon manager with a dog on her table while on her cell phone having what sounded to be a personal conversation. I have a Newfoundland that needed a groom. When I got there the groomers were too inexperienced to do a difficult groom of this type. They tried to tell me a vet needed to groom her. I have gone back and forth bothering to write this but I just want to share my experience here . While I have frequented the other location in Mokena and loved it , this location seems very unorganized . The last time I dropped my dog off was chaos . Too many dogs coming and going at the same time . My dogs anxiety was already through the roof . When the employee changed leashes I was watching my dogs eyes bulge out of her head bc the lady was basically choking her . To the point I had to lean over the door and put my three fingers between the leash and her neck so she could breath and asked her to let go so she could breathe . Literally gasping for breath !!! In that moment I started to tear up as the lady took her back to get a wash and brush . I called my husband crying and wanted to go back in but didn't want to make a scene . I should have followed my gut . I mentioned she doesn't like the drier so much so if it comes and she's there longer than 3 hours I want a call to come pick her up . 4 hours later I'm calling to find that she's not liking the drier. LIKE I SAID !! and they have her a their crate drier. Another hour goes by no phone call . So I went to pick her up and she was still wet . I have been going to the other location for years and only has taken two hours tops . 5 and 1/2 hours later she was still damp and overwhelmed when I picked her up . When we got home I noticed she was limping . I called PetSmart right when I noticed to see if the girl noticed when she was there or what may have happened ..... shocking . No call back . I ordered dog food and ear wash online for store pickup. I get an email saying my order was changed to only have the dog food and my credit card was charged. I specifically ordered from the joliet store because they had the ear wash. Now I'm stuck having to go to two different stores. When I pick up the dog food there is a line of people at the cashier. I get in line but two different people then cut in front of me. Maybe because I had no merchandise but the cashier see it and doesn't say anything. When I finally get up to the cashier she says if you are in a hurry then I can't help you.. All this time to retrieve a product I was already charged for online. I will never shop at petsmart again. What a disrespectful cashier. How can a store have a person who treats customers this way. The online pick up at the joliet store is an awful time wasting process. I got the top dog plus grooming for my miniture schnauzer and the service was horrible. They missed spots everywhere. They did not cut between his paw pads so he is sliding everywhere in my house. We asked for the Burberry facial. They did not do that. His nails were just cut not filed. Jagged at that.. there was no teeth brushing or paw balm applied. I will never take my little guy back there and recommend that you do not either. read more

I took my rescue dog here for a nail trim. I normally trim all my dogs nails myself, but my new rescue is skittish and doesn't sit still, and I could not do it alone. My dog is especially sensitive to loud sounds and absolutely hates nail grinders. I told the girl trimming her nails I do not want her to use the nail grinder. After like 25 min, I get called to come get my dog. The groomer said she started on her back feet with the nail grinder!! I asked her why the grinder was used and she said because her back nails were fairly short. I would have preferred she just left the back nails alone then...I specifically said no grinder. Then she told me she needed to have another groomer hold my dog's face and distract her because she started trying to lunge off the table! Well no duh..it's because she terrified my dog with the grinder! She said she did what she could to trim the front but did not get much and to come back in a week or two to get my dog used to it. And still charged me full price for the nail trim. I wanted to argue, but I felt like I just needed to get my poor dog out of there, so I paid and left. Will never go back for grooming services. We got the BEST ever hair cut for our miniature poodle, Buddy yesterday from your PetSmart! I believe our groomers name was Natalie! From the beginning she was so sweet and attentive to us. I explained to her that Buddy's last hair cut, (from Petco) was an awful experience, including them shaving off his poodle tail! I showed Natalie pictures of what type of style and haircut we were looking for and she actually took her own personal phone and snapped a picture of it! I was so grateful.... When we picked up Buddy I was shocked! I couldn't believe what a great job she did! It was way better than we expected! She nailed the poodle haircut! He actually looks like a real poodle now! Took my dog to petsmart on Sunday morning for grooming. First of all the groomer Tammy H. wanted to debate about my dogs breed. Second my dog had to be taken to the vet today for a paw infection possible paw fracture. His nail appeared to be detached he had a fever. My vet was very stunned at the service that was performed on my pet. I took him to be groomed at this location two months prior. They shaved him to look like a bull dog. I thought I would give them another chance, but after this incident This grooming service cost me a vet bill way over 100 dollars. I will never use their grooming services again. read more

I usually groom at home but every once in a great while, I like to treat her to the whole shabang, ears, nails and all. The lady was nice. The price was almost the same a the boutique groomer down the street. If it wouldn't have been for it being closed, I would have gone there. She did an ok job. There were still tufts of hair between my dog's toes. That was what was most important on my list, so to see that hair still there was disappointing. I was in there to buy my first snake.. being excited as I am 27 years old pretty sure I have my life together... seen a milk snake .. did some research at home for a month prior to getting a snake .. it was a toss up between ball python or milk snake... All 4 of my dogs got deathly ill and are still recovering. After noticing the BEST BY date on the bag it said JAN 2016. Called the store immediately. This review is strictly for the grooming services that Ryno had. All I asked was for a bath, a condition, and a brush out and for the fur on this pads to be trimmed. I dropped him off at 3:30, and didn't even get a call by 6. It took me calling twice, and showing up unexpectedly to retrieve my dog to get him back. While he was fully bathed, it was obvious that he was kennel dried, in a kennel that was too small as his fur on his behind was all matted and rough, and Ryno was acting a little nervous towards things after getting out of the kennel.
