We came to the 43rd st store to find a goldfish for my grandson's little pond and couldn't believe how filthy and disgusting the store was, from the dog pee all over the column outside to the mats of fur in the entry. The floors were nasty and not one employee seemed to notice, or if they did they didn't care. The fish tanks were equally disgusting; the goldfish tank had dead fish on the bottom of the tank with fuzzy rotting carcasses that no one bothered to remove. The other tanks were filthy with sick fish barely swimming. Needless to say, we turned around and walked out. This store should not be allowed to sell fish; they may not be fuzzy little creatures, but they are still living beings and should be taken care of as such. We will never go in that nasty place again. read more

Yesterday was an exciting day for Zoe. She put on her new Christmas dress, sprayed on her puppy perfume, and wore her Prada dog leash that her Uncle Bobby G. bought her last Christmas. The holiday spirit had her wrapped around its little finger. Now...most of you know about my precious bundle of joy. Her inner b*tch face was not playing when she witnessed this turnt up Santa Claus sitting in front to the camera looking a hot mess. I was able to snap this picture of her giving me the side eye for not screening St. Nick before her session. How smart is Petsmart? Pretty smart. You should see its IQ. The question is, is your Pet Smart? This is a decent pet store in an area that I don't like very much, too many somewhat mean people up here in Northwest Houston, but it's a good pet store nevertheless although it's very expensive. We come here when we're visiting the fam and need stuff for the babies. Some of Barbie's fam lives less than a mile from this store. read more

I'm done with PetSmart. I took my dog to get groomed. The groomer was late. I get a call about 20 minutes later saying my dog has too much anxiety and she can't brush him with the Furminator tool. I drive back out there to see my "anxiety" ridden dog laying down in the crate. They still had the nerve to charge me $30.00 to give him a bath!! She couldn't do the part that I really wanted done. I should have read the reviews before booking an appointment. I've learned my lesson. We're going to a real dog groomer now. This place is a joke. read more

I come to this location quite often when I visit Houston and find the store mostly adequate, meaning they have the food supplies that I am needing to pick up. That being said, the store seems to be short staffed and the employees that are working seem a bit clueless. I asked for doggie nail clippers and the response was, somewhere over there. Really? Just give me an aisle number or something. It's not as if there were tons of people in the store shopping, it was sparse of shoppers during my visit. I made an appointment yesterday my groomer name is Jennifer she was nice when I came in she explain everything to me, she did say because it was my dos first time she might no be able to do a full cut. She did how ever say she need to charge me extra because she had to use the scissors a lot with her to which I said it was fine. On their website it tell you grooming Can las from1-3 hr when I ask how log it would be she said 5hr and if wanted it faster I had to pay an extra fee to which I was willing to pay but she said it was Sunday that she would be done faster. I gave them the five hr she requested and them gave them a call she said my dog would be ready in 15 min. I show up to pick up my dog and yet again she is trying to sell me some packages to get free grooming to which I said NO because I had not seen my dog, please note when I drop off my dog I was very specific to what I wanted done and I did tell her like 3 time and she type it on her computer that I did Not want her to cut the top of dogs hair and I showed her. Well when I was paying she came out with my puppy and she cut exactly where I said not to cut her she did not use scissors but to trim around my puppy's feet. That 1 star actually means ZERO STARS! Jewel in grooming is very unprofessional when it comes to properly communicating with customers. My first encounter with Jewel was being greeted with an attitude, which is very unprofessional. Even when i called to get an update on my dogs grooming process because it had already been 4 hours; Jewel responded in an unpleasant tone of voice as though my calling was a disturbance. And then after I went up there to speak with the manager and complain about Ms. Jewels unprofressionalism, she sent my dog home looking like this....***inserts pictures*** not even finishing her job...I highly recommend Jewel goes back to school to get some basic customer service training/professional courses. He didn't go outside or do anything differently in the house. Very unimpressed by this location. It's small and seems to be a bit run down. That in combination with the workers just standing around make going to this location unnecessarily time consuming. My last visit, I wanted to get my dog's nails trimmed. The groomer made a fuss because I didn't have an appointment and said they didn't have time, however I've tried to make appointments for this service in the past at different locations and have always been told to just walk in. After reading some of the other reviews regarding grooming, I see a dodged a bullet. If you need grooming services, I suggest going to the location on Sawyer. read more

My first time using a groomer for my fawn pug. I usually bathe her myself but thought I'd try this place. Bad idea. My dog required the "express" service. $45 for a bath to help with shedding and she was returned to me in 40 minutes still damp, and her belly still black with dirt. I emailed corporate and they want me to return to get the "problem" fixed because they guarantee their work. Um......no! You didn't do it right the first time so I am supposed to go back, complain and then trust you to do it right the second time and not mistreat my dog... no thanks. I came here with a friend and out of curiosity I went to go look at the fish on display. I was shocked to see that almost half of the fish on display were dead. Not to mention their tanks were gross and had evidently not been cleaned. One tank in particular that really disturbed me was their tank of baby koi fish. Almost all were dead floating at the top of the tank, and one was half dead at the bottom floating on its side. It was just really disturbing and gross. The beta fish they had weren't even in tanks, but in small cups no bigger than a large mug. It's just bad upkeep and barbaric at this point. Don't recommend at all unless you like that kind of stuff. read more

My dog has been groomed here a couple of times & multiple times at the Taylor St. Location. I dropped her off today to get the same cut she always gets: 7 on her body and a teddy bear face. I picked her up and they SHAVED HER DOWN COMPLETELY. No length in her face whatsoever. She's almost 10 and I've never had anyone groom her like this. I'm only giving 2 stars because I got a no hassle refund on the groom which is indicative of a job NOT well done. I cried when I got into the car. Do not recommend. I want to like this store because it's the closest store to my home but everyone is so rude and unhappy. The store is clean and kept. Usually empty so it's easy to get in and out. My grooming appointment was canceled due to the salon closing for two weeks due to the coronavirus and no one ever called to reschedule appointment once grooming salon opened up. Took my dog to get groomed and it took 6 hours. No one called to say "hey we are running behind or anything. After 5 hours getting worried I called and spoke with the manager and he said someone would call once my dog was ready and after I told him it had been 5 hours already he then told me that they were running behind. Absolutely awful customer service. Petsmart has always taken printable coupons for products sold in their stores. The cashier insisted they do not take online (printable) coupons. I've taken my dog to grooming three times and each time his records were not on file so I had to retake his vaccination records. I was pleased the first time, but the second time was horrendous. I asked for him to be trimmed a little extra and he got completely shaved. I went back a few days ago and asked for him to be groomed just as he was the previous time. I showed the groomer a picture of how he looked the previous time and told her that was how I wanted him. I picked up my dog with hardly any hair, he was shaved with a shorter razor. The groomer did not bother grooming his tail at all, I had to come back 15 minutes later because I needed them to at least trim his tail. His whiskers were cut off. I showed up to ask how much longer because I had not been called for pick up yet, and he had already been ready. 100% unsatisfactory read more

This place sucks!!! I wish I could give NO stars! My son has taken his cat to Jada here numerous times. Before she did an excellent job. We were very pleased. But this last time was an entirely different! My son recd the text that his cat was ready for pick up around 11 am, but he wasn't able to go until around 2:30 pm. He brought him home and I picked him up and was completely covered in cat hair and couldn't stand the smell of him. He smelled like he had been rubbed down with air freshener!! My son goes to his room and returns with the cat just a little bit later to show me where his paw has blood all over it!!! They cut him while clipping his claw. I called to complain (my son is a minor) and no one seemed to even care! No apologies, no remorse....NOTHING!! And quite rude. No one bothered to tell my son that it had happened or apologize or anything! And he obviously did not receive a bath. He was also supposed to be shaved on his belly and butt. That was not done either! When it was obvious I would be getting no where with the person on the phone, who claimed to be a manager, I asked for a corporate number. I called it, filed a complaint, and recd a call back the next day. The man offered to schedule an appt for the cat to be seen by their vet to ensure his claw was ok. He said he would call me right back.....never did!! I called him back and all he had were excuses. I finally interrupted him and just told him to refund my son's money. Do not take your dog here. I took my dog to get his nails trimmed. Then went shopping in the store and heard multiple yelps. I went back to the area where my dog was and he was yelping. Then the groomer forces my dog in a cone and keeps making the dog cry while just clipping away at his nails. I had to yell and wave at her to give my dog back. The groomer says "well his nails are just too short." He never had any issue with trimming his nails before and now won't even let us touch his back paws. read more

I opened a Yelp account just so I could post this review detailing how incompetent and RUDE the grooming department is at this location. Would give this place zero stars if I could. Took my two dogs to each get a premium groom, was told that my small dog was aggressive and misbehaved and that they could only complete some of the services they were charging me for. Was charged a $7 "special handling fee" with no advance warning. They charged $40 for a "premium groom" despite not performing half of the services listed as part of the grooming package. Had to demand to speak to a manager to received a refund of the difference in price. Heard the grooming staff badmouthing us and claiming we were "banned" as we left, as if we would ever come back and get scammed again by Chandra.
