I have boarded my dogs here three times and every time I have had a horrible experience. It just does not cease to amaze me. The people are very nice I will give them that. First time: got yelled at by a customer then harassed by an employee who is supposed to be "kept in the back" Second time: my dogs voided for 10 minutes. Meaning they held their pee and poop in for God knows how long. When I called to complain they said they had no idea what happened. Ok? Maybe try fixing the problem or offering some incentive? Third time: I drove in from out of town to be sure to make it by 12 as instructed. One of my dogs was ready but the other was kept in the back and was still wet. So clearly just left in a kennel all wet and unattended. Had to drive back again to pick her up then her collar and leash go missing!! They said they "have no idea what happened". I am so sick of this line. How about try to fix the problem or don't let things like this happen? You would think paying premium prices and a brand name would get you good service but clearly here it does not. read more

I have been taking my ass sweet boy Leo here for a grooming. Since he was three months and I mean they always do a great job he always smells great and looks so nice. I really appreciate them taking the time and working hard because I know my dog is not the easiest one out there. Thumbs up to the Bunker Hill location they are always so sweet. read more

PetSmart is a chain and they take care of my pets when I go on travel. Can't really complain.

Do a few online orders now and then. The store processes them quickly has them ready for pickup the same day.

Grooming is good but curbside does not work. They don't answer the phone. 3 out of 4 times have had to go in store

On the weekends, this Petsmart has different pet adoption shelters come in here to hope to provide a pet in their forever homes to a family. My hubby and I came in here browsing for a 2nd pet and I wish I can take them all home but none really catch my eye. Then we went to the dog food selections and they have a wide range of dog food which is a plus in my book. The cashier told me that if my dog doesn't like the food, I can return it to them which I was pretty shock that I can do that. See, I have a Westie and she has skin allergies so I've been testing out different foods. So, when she gets allergic - I usually donate her food to a shelter. Great place and a lot friendlier than the one on Shepherd. read more

I have never used the services at this Petsmart (training, boarding, grooming, etc) but I normally come here if I need to stock up on toys for my three canines and I don't normally leave disappointed. My dogs annihilate toys like they were born to do it, so I will occasionally buy them a nice Kong brand toy, but more often then not I run to the sale section to find out-of-season stuff that's priced to move. I do appreciate the sales that Petsmart offers, not just on toys but on beds, food and sometimes they'll circulate coupons for 10-15% your entire purchase. Not too shabby! And this particular Petsmart is large with a great selection of just about anything pet related. More recently my hubby and I were fostering these 5 puppies (eep!) and the shelter wanted us to feed them this really crazy specialty food which we were thankfully able to find in ample quantity at this location. I was worried I was going to have to drive all over town! We also needed cheap, itty bitty collars so the pups could proudly don their new tags and we were able to find that here as well. And, I know they've been doing this for a long time now, but I still really appreciate their effort to support shelters rather than breeders :) Good location, good selection, and CLEAN. I'm a fan! read more

there are numerous problems concerning this company and banfield company. they give out conflicting information and so does banfield company. i am leaving for 1 month but they wont board my cat. if i have to leave my cat behind, she will not be protected. she has all of her required shots. i am a member of peta, aspca, and defenders of wildlife. i will get a lawyer. They need to fix my cat but they would not help me and when I leave her behind, she will get pregnant, and I won't be there to help her and her babies. That is animal cruelty on PET SMART part. read more

Honestly, as far as Petsmarts in the greater Houston go, this is one of the better ones. This is what the store and service use to be like at the Petsmart in my area years ago. It was CLEAN!!! Even the doggy day camp was clean on the day we shopped here. The adoption area is better than the small kennels in most Petsmart adoption areas. The staff was friendly and there was actually a manager out on the floor helping customers! I thought I had entered a tardis for a moment, but then I realized that this one just likely has better management. That said, I never come here for anything other than to shop. I have not used a groomer here and never board my dogs (pet sitters are much better). Because of this I can only judge the store, not the other services. But as far as a Petsmart goes? I don't feel the need to shower after leaving this one. read more

FYI--hours posted online and on the door of the business are incorrect. Both say they open at 7am however the store doesn't open until 9am.

Had great selection of supplies. I bought a gorgeous betta - they had a big selection. However, only one person was working in the fish department and there was a long line. I just wanted to ask few questions but I got tired waiting. read more

Our shih tzu Graci loves to come here with us while we shop for her pet food and products, she runs through the store while I follow close behind. It's comical how she wants nothing to do with the small breeds but let her come across a big dog and she's playful and wants to play, it's so much fun watching her. 3 of my pets are Banfield and PetSmart LOVE because of their employees and services. I got my first puppy 7wks ago and prior to getting her Belinda and Maddie helped me get all her and my nesting ready...make sure you get the coupon book...well worth it and also go to Petsmart online prior to buying something and put in your cart to save as they'll honor it at the counter. THEN...she just passed her first training sessions (I got private, but she has been socializing with other dogs and cats). I cannot say enough about Sue! We LOVE her. Now Banfield has been a lifesaver as it's a monthly fee for all my furbabies shots, general checkups teeth cleaning and discounts if for any reason your pet needs additional care. All the Doctors (Smith & Knight) are phenomenal, then you have all the sweet techs and front desk, Adriana (I'm sorry if I get names wrong...I've got puppy brain) is very calming and just a sweet person. Thank y'all for taking care of all my furbabies! Dolly got her first training certificate...super Fun YaY! read more

I've been taking my puppy to this location for the last few weeks for doggy day camp while my boyfriend and I go to work. He's 6 months old and he has separation anxiety so he barks and bowls when left alone, resulting in noise complaints from my apartment neighbors, so we looked in to Doggy Day Camp and it seemed like the best fit! First week was amazing, he was excited to go and happy when he came home. Week 2: very tired and just seemed sad when we got him home from camp. We figured this was because he was worn out from a full day of play. The past few days, he's been SCARED of sunlight! I take him outside to go potty and he crouches and gets scared of the sunlight. I felt the ground to see if it was hot, it was not. He does it in the grass too. He's terrified to be in direct sunlight. I called my vet and she said that is VERY UNcommon and that I need to do some investigation on the Day camp. Plus, one of the males at the front counter is always very "sketchy". I'll go to pick my baby up and the guy says "oh he's had so much fun, he's played all day" when I saw the guy walking in from the parking lot at the same time as we pulled up. (Maybe he was on lunch break?) So I asked a few questions about my puppy during his stay and the guy replies "well I just got here". Why would you try to tell me what my puppy has been doing all day if you JUST got here at the same time as me? I'm going to do some looking into this Sunlight issue and see what could be causing it because it's definitely resulting from some kind of treatment at this facility. I don't want to write a BAD review before knowing for sure, but I wanted to inform y'all of my experience so far. Other than that, everyone else is very friendly and helpful and always very nice when I have questions about what to get my baby read more

They shaved my mini schnauzer for no apparent reason. It was a horrible grooming! Would definitely NOT recommend.

Today was the second time my online order was not ready, even though it was supposed to be in one hour or less. What's the point of ordering online if it's not ready for pick up? The store was not busy either so no there was no excuse. I was able to pull the items faster than the store employees were. It's also crazy how the online prices are better than the store prices! I recommend going to the Copperfield location where my orders are always ready!! read more

Worst PetSmart ever! My husband and I were away over New Year's, and we boarded our puppy at this PetSmart. We'd previously boarded him at the West Loop Petsmart, and he did very well there. However, I will NEVER board my baby at this location again. When we picked up Baxter on 1/2/2011, we waited nearly 20 minutes for a PetsHotel associate to assist us. She apologized for our wait, but complained that they were short-staffed due to two associates calling in sick. When she went back into the boarding area, she noted that Baxter wasn't there and had to radio somebody to figure out where he was. UM, excuse me?? You don't know where you put my baby?! They finally determined he was at the grooming facility, as we'd requested a puppy bath upon his exit. We paid, and then were escorted to the grooming area. We told the associate there that we were there to pick up Baxter, and they told us, "Oh yeah, he's been done for a couple of hours." So why wasn't he sent back to the boarding facility that we were PAYING for?!! I was starting to get angry, but I was just happy to see my baby again. He must have been confined to his crate for a long time, because we noticed he soiled the crate (which he's never done in his lifetime). As soon as we walked out, I started to inspect Baxter a little closer and noticed he had two crusty bald patches behind his ears. Nobody (neither PetsHotel nor grooming) told us that there was anything wrong with Baxter. I don't care WHERE he contracted this, but somebody, certainly the groomer who bathed and brushed him, should have noticed the missing fur. We marched back inside to question the groomer, and they claimed that they didn't notice anything unusual. We walked over to PetsHotel where again, we waited at least 10 minutes to be helped. Once we spoke to the associate again, she said she didn't know anything about Baxter's condition and that nobody had noticed anything out of the ordinary. Now, I understand that Baxter could have contracted this condition anywhere. But somebody along the line should have had the decency to at least let us know that something was wrong with our puppy. If they were taking such great care of him, how did they not notice that he lost ALL the hair behind his ears in a few short days?? That is inexcusable. Nobody should ever board their pet here. They are short staffed and don't care about the well-being of your pet. Furthermore, when we got home we inspected the grooming job they did on Baxter. They did not do the following things that we regularly have done at the Shepard location: 1) Ear cleaning 2) trimming of hair on the paw pads 3) Proper nail trimming. Additionally, they did not give him the cute PetSmart bandanna that is part of the puppy bath. In addition, we tried to buy the omega-3 treats that we get Baxter from the Shepard PetSmart. When we couldn't find them, the only associate available to help us was a day camp supervisor. When she couldn't find the treats, she called a manager who ALSO couldn't locate the treats. Get your act together! From now on, we'll only stick to the Shepard PetSmart. read more

This is another review that is overdue on my part. When these events happened, I made a point to share my story with anyone who will listen, after all, I religiously recommended Petsmart to everyone. Then I had to put it out of my mind because I would get so angry every time I thought about the series of events. Let's take a trip back more than 6 years to a Petsmart in another state. We gained a new member of our family in the form of an 11 week old Puggle (1/2 pug, 1/2 beagle). He had kennel cough that developed into pneumonia. Long story short, the vet at Banfield saved his life and made a fiercely loyal customer out of me. I purchased their wellness plan (kind of like pet health insurance), bought the premium dog food, and did regular grooming. I also bought my little baby a new toy every time I walked through the doors. When we moved to Texas a few years later, I stayed loyal to Petsmart, choosing the one at I10 and Bunker Hill. My first experience with the grooming department was fantastic. It was our first day in the new house and I had nothing with which to clean my dog when he decided to roll in something in the back yard. They let me bring him in right away and did a great job. The gentleman who helped us was sweet and friendly. I also liked the Banfield vets well enough, and our spoiled little darling still had to have his premium food. This stayed the status quo for some time. My dog would regularly get his nails ground, and we'd throw in a bath every few months when he rolled in whatever he could find that smelled like death. Service progressively declined. The groomers weren't quite as friendly, and they stopped calling when he was ready, so I'd have to guess when to call to come pick him up. The last time he received a bath, I brought him home and we were snuggling on the couch and I smelled something. I thought our child (human) had a dirty diaper, but that wasn't it. After some investigation, I took off his collar, and there stuck to his fur, was a clump of feces about the size of a quarter. By now it was dinner time and a round trip back would be 40 min, so I called after bathing him myself. I spoke with the manager, Casey, who offered to redo the bath tomorrow and a refund. I said yes to the refund, but no to the redo since I had washed him. I couldn't let him sleep in my bed like that! I went in the next day, Casey apologized, processed the refund, and thanked me for my business. This response satisfied me enough that I would continue the customer relationship for everything but bathing. You'd think that was the end of story, but alas, no. As I've stated before, I get my dog's nailed ground on a regular basis. When he was next due, we went back to Petsmart. They did the service, and nothing was mentioned about my previous experience. Fast forward to the next time he needed the nail grind, the week of Thanksgiving. Even though it's a walk in service, I called ahead to see if the wait would be too long. After looking me up in the computer, the girl in the grooming department put me on hold. When she came back, she said, "It looks like we are not able to meet your needs, we suggest you take him elsewhere." Me: "I'm sorry, what?" Her: "You had an issue with a bath." Me "Yes, there was poop left on my dog, it was refunded, everything was resolved." Her:" We cannot meet your needs." click. I called back, this time asking for a manager, and got Casey again. I recounted my conversation, telling him that I was confused by this treatment. He said he'd talk to the grooming manager and call me back. When he called back he said they had agreed to "let me come in" for a nail grind. Hmm, no thanks. I'd rather go somewhere I don't need special permission to have my dog cared for. Plus, at this point, I don't trust them not to retaliate against him. Bottom line: if your needs include being happy about paying for a bath that leaves feces on your pet, then this is the place for you! P.S. I promptly canceled my Banfield wellness plan and have not set in a petsmart since. read more

One stop shop for our pup's care. She seems to love coming here because she either gets to stay and socialize with other pups for doggy day care or she leaves a vet visit with banfield with a treat or a new toy. Everyone is always very friendly and the store is clean and organized. read more

Had the products I wanted. Easy to order. Best curbside experience I've had.

I recently took my yorkie and Maltese in for haircuts.... We made it pretty clear on how we wanted it. We had pictures and we even left the pictures with them to show them what we wanted. We dropped them off for an appointment at noon and we're told they'd be ready by 4/4:30. They went done until 6. I wasn't mad because you can rush perfection but when we got there, it looked like a 6 year old had ahold of the clippers. Both of our dogs look absolutely ridiculous. I am highly upset and will not be returning to this location in the future. We were supposed to get Christmas pictures done this week and that isn't going to happen. read more

I've been taking my dog to get grooming and baths at PetSmarts since I got him 2 years ago. I tried to take him to this location and they tried to add on multiple charges that they've never added before for the same services that I've been getting him for years. Don't waste your time here. Also, expect for your dog to sit and walk in pee as they try to tell you about pricing because they don't clean up the accidents that the other dogs made in the front part of the grooming area. Disgusted. read more

Very clean, smells good instead considering it is a pet store. They also have a nice selection of items (especially compared to other pet stores in the area) and helpful staff. RUN AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AS YOU CAN! They have some of the worst groomers I have even seen in my life!! They have NO IDEA how to groom animals, and many of their staff SHOULD NOT BE WORKING AS GROOMERS! My poor Malti-Poo was cut so badly that they had to take her to Banfield Pet Hospital while she was being groomed. She had a horrible deep gash on her leg, a small piece of her ear was nipped off, and she had several other cuts on her body. Meagan, the groomer called me to tell me that she had accidently scratched my puppy's leg with the clippers but my dog was not bleeding and it was not a big deal. LIES!!! When I came to pick up my puppy, it was clear why she was sent to the Pet Hospital. She had a one-inch gash on her right leg. Her wound was so bad that they could continue to cut her hair that day. Not only did she have cuts on her body her hair was an uneven mess! I would not take my dog to this location again if it were the last Pet Groomers in Houston. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR BABIES HERE! read more

I have been happy with the service we have gotten for our dogs. The vet techs, the pet hotel people, and the intake people are very nice. I think the transfer of records from a different location could be made a little easier. The people who answer the phones, not so much. read more

Good place to get pet food and anything else for the pets! It is actually also a good place to take a 19 month old to look at all the animals and watch the dogs at doggy day camp. I'd give them a one star, but I had an average, decent time at Banfield Hospital. The reason they get such a low rating is because of the grooming department. The staff are super friendly, but I walked in to book an appointment. I talked to the employee, she suggested Saturday morning. I booked the appointment only to come in and they tell me they do not do cats on weekends. I came in with my cat to book the appointment. I don't understand the confusion of booking me on a Saturday if they don't groom cats on Saturdays. read more

This is my first time in this PetsMart, so here's my take: upon entering the store, there was not a single cart available. This is Store Management 101: make sure your customers have carts. Next, many of the shelves were bare, or had little merchandise. I almost wondered if the store was going out of business, that's how empty many shelves were. For a store that size, I did not find the variety of products one would expect. For example, cat litter box liners. They had maybe four choices, and one was out. Prices: I think they're high. I found Walmart to be cheaper, granted, though, they did not have the same selection. All in all, just not impressed with this store. read more

HORRIBLE!!! I will never deal with Petsmart again. I took my two dogs for day camp last week for two days in a row. At check out I told the girl I most likely will be bringing my dogs every Thursdays since my job requires traveling through Houston and Thursday's are my longest days. The girl told me that I just need to call a day ahead to make an appointment. When I called today they told me that they can't accept my dogs because there are concerned of the canine influenza. So here is my problem 1. If there was a case shouldn't I have been informed since my dogs stayed there 2 days in a row so that I can look for symptoms? And 2. If there wasn't an outbreak, like they said, why can't my dogs stay there if they were there last week? Doesn't make any sense. I don't know if there was a case and they are lying or if this is precautions then they need to tell you we can only accept your dog every 10 days so that I can make other arrangements. Anyways the people I dealt with are unprofessional and rude. The manager had no clue what he was talking about and this is no way to run a dog camp. All I know is that I will never deal with this company. I use to take my dogs to grooming, camp and buy food and use the Banfield but I am going stop using them overall. Too many better businesses out there that know how to deal with customers than to take my money to these people. Should have read all the reviews but I didn't listen. I just searched dog camps on yelp and so many others popped up with better ratings than a 3 start company like this one. Take my advice and take your money and pet somewhere else. You'll be happy you did. read more

I just returned from this store. My mom and I saw all the dogs in day care and decided to go watch them for awhile. This one dog was laying in the corner all by him/herself shaking, scared to death and all the person inside the area with ALLLLL the dogs did was clean up when a dog went to the bathroom. We watched to see if she would do ANYTHING at any point with any dog. But she would either clean up or just stand there. We went back several times & we tried to get her attention to go comfort the poor little beagle clearly traumatized in the corner but she just ignored us. I would never take my dogs to day care here. It was majorly crowded, some dogs were scared, then the one in the corner was overwrought with fright and no one did anything or cared. Shame on Petsmart for not ensuring their employees do their job! It's called day CARE!!! read more

We would give a minus star if we could. The manager of this store is very stupid, greedy and rude. She has no manner, no training and most of all no knowledge of the products at all. Her name is Jessica. We bought couple bags of cat food 2 weeks ago with chicken flavor. We came back to exchange with receipt to different flavor which is seafood and she kept saying it's cost more than chicken taste then she also won't adjust the price because the sale was over she said. We told her other stores had no problems to exchange for us and because they didn't have any more on the shelf that's why we came here then she told us go back to those stores to do the exchange unless we had to pay $6 something. The policy to return or exchange is 60 days. If happens to you just report to PetSmart's Corporate like we did, it is under investigation right now. They apologized to us. We hope they will look into store's security cameras and review the manager's behavior and for sure they will know what an ignorant and racist she is. She is a shame to all PetSmart's managers. God bless! read more
