Cat scratcher and catnip from PetSmart
    Martha K.

This product from China , is still sitting on the shelves of PetSmart Nationwide , even though my neighbors precious 2 year old cat ingested some wrapping on the catnip .... It was full of needle sharp splinters and slashed the poor kitties insides , as a result , she bled out and died The store is investigating, but in the meantime is leaving the product on their shelves ! A child could have also gotten hold of this. This is outrageous and shameful. Totally irresponsible in my opinion . I will boycott PetSmart , I suppose as my small part to shame them.

DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS!! My 22 month old Toy size Morkie ( Maltese/Yorkie ) mix pup had been getting groomed by PetSmart since he was about 7 weeks old. This is the 2nd PetSmart location I've been to. This past May was his last grooming appt there. The only groomer by the name of Rashunda, was the ONLY one that actually groomed him the way I've requested over and over again in the past. Recently I had not been able to book her due to her being out or unavailable through no fault by her. Pics below are from Rashunda doing his grooming. I deleted the pics my husband took with other groomers since they shaved him claiming he had matted spots when he didn't and he looked terrible! This past groomer named Mana ( I believe she's Japanese ) had groomed him a few times. This last appt, I had a bunch of extra charges. I consistently and faithfully brush my pup especially between grooming appts due to the type of hair he has to avoid matting so they don't shave him down. Miso never had a problem with any other groomer, no reports of him being aggressive or anything like that. This past appt, I had an extra charge for brushing, they charge you extra if they have to burnish longer than 15 mins, an extra charge for him being "hard to handle". They stated he was extremely hyper and "gator rolling", his breed mind you are hyperactive dogs to begin with. Then another extra charge because "supposedly" he tried to bite her and another groomer walking by. He's never done this to anyone else, and he only shows slight aggression if someone does that to him or handles him extremely roughly! 1. When you are in a job that is a customer service position, it's most helpful when you can actually communicate with the person efficiently, a language barrier makes it extremely difficult to communicate your needs to someone that can't understand you! 2. This is the first time I've ever heard of a 7 pound puppy being BANNED from a pet store! The reasons the manager gave me is because "he wouldn't close his mouth"... so did he bite someone? Try to bite someone like they claimed, or was he just playing around because that's what he does to my husband and myself. When you put your hands near him, he likes to lick and play with yourself hands, NOT BITE! 3. How does an establishment called "PETSMART" not have the proper experience or equipment to manage and properly groom animals?!! Other professional groomers have leashes, muzzles, all kinds of safety equipment for "problematic" animals. It's laughable that PETSMART overcharges for mediocre grooming/groomers with little to no experience and lack of knowledge with different breeds and behavior. 4. Upon attempting to make another grooming appt for Miso, I was blocked on the app from doing so and when calling the store they said he was banned! On another occasion, one of their cashiers who stated she was the manager was rude upon opening the store as well. Needless to say I found a wonderful professional groomer to take Miso. Fur paws pet hotel! Their FULL grooming package is CHEAPER which includes, anal gland expressing and nail cutting unlike PetSmart who charges extra for that. PetSmart charges 15 extra just for nail grinding and his nails would still be rough and jagged! Fur paws pet hotel ALSO takes their time with their clients that come in, and the groomers themselves are professional behavioral and defense trainers! They are very experienced with a wide range of different breeds and their behaviors and dogs with separation anxiety as well! They even take King Cane Corsos! Which might I add are much bigger than a 7 pound Maltese! Never again will I ever patron PetSmart !!

I WILL NEVER TAKE MY DOG HERE AGAIN

This is by far the worst experience I have ever had. Destiny was the employee scheduled to do his grooming, wether it was her or not this is unacceptable. The fear in my dog's eyes fill me with anger. He can not stop shaking of fear. I want an explanation to this. No animal should be put through this. This will definitely be THE LAST time that i will going there.

Lola's eye the next day. It's hard to tell in the picture but it's a deep wound.

I'm typing this on behalf of my mom since she isn't familiar with yelp. She brought in her dog Lola who is a sweet Lagatto Romagnolo (petsmart just put' s her down as a cockacapoo for haircutting style) . Lola goes to the groomers monthly. I have taken her myself and she has no problems. Yesterday when my mom went to pick her up the woman who was working there (she didn't catch her name just that she may have been Asian) ran off to the back. My mom was left waiting for a long time (she claims at least 20min) and started to feel something was wrong. When the groomer finally came back out with Lola she was bleeding from the paws and above her eyes and her collar was torn and stressed (this is an inside dog who gets new collar with each grooming the collar had no previous damage). Lola was shaking and whining. When my mom asked what happened the groomer said she didn't know and handed her the bill before racing off to the back. That was it. Just the bill. Not even the normal report they usually give out. My mom had to carry Lola to the car (I am posting pictures with her bloody clothes) and when she came back in she spoke with the manager trying to find out what happened. Magically no one seems to know. This morning they called her to follow up on her complaints and now the groomer says Lola walked in already looking nervous and nothing happened to the dog. Lola is usually a happy and very loving dog but through the night she has been shaking and throwing up from anxiety. We brought her to the vet and the vet was extremely concerned and even mentioned that either the collar got ripped because they left in the kennel and she nervously chewed it or someone was pulling and tugging on her while getting a haircut. Lola is now taking pain medicine because she can't walk on the injured paw and anti anxiety medicine to hopefully stop the shaking and nervous vomiting. Fortunately my mom did not pay for the grooming bill but I am posting this as a warning do not bring your pet to this location. It's one thing for an accident to happen but it's seems like something more than that happened here.

The neighborhood took turns putting out water and food for her. She kinda looked pregnant so I was a bit concerned since the hoa said they would have her euthanized... so we took her in for a week now. And fatten her up ;) After calling many non kill shelters, and vets to get her the correct medical treatment she needed...I was getting discouraged since so many programs were full. When we reached out to PetBar through yelp about the situation... not only did they answer within two hours but they were so incredibly kind! Their groomers are top notch! I can tell they were professional because they knew how to handle her ... it seems like the dog was beaten because she was scared and very on guard... every time you try to pet her she would flinch :( and duck. I didn't know how she would deal with the stress of grooming. We can't afford to keep her and I am allergic to most dogs and cats. So our best bet is to get her all squared away health and cleanliness wise for the best outcome. I didn't have much hope since I called so many places... yet... Pet Bar has exceeded our expectations of quality skillful professionals with kind hearts. One of the best grooming places I have been to! They were so sweet and the owners were so generous with providing "sweet pea" with all the hygienic care that was long overdue. I highly recommend this outstanding establishment! From the owners to the staff in the front and their groomers. Trust that your lovely fury friends are safe and more than loved here. Once again I would like to thank the owners on behalf of sweet pea! After her vet appointment on Monday she is in her best attire to find a loving home! :) thank you so much again guys! Have a wonderful weekend!

Judge for yourself if the injuries are scratches or bite marks and if a dog is physically able to scratch itself on the inside of its ear. They are very clearly puncture wounds to us and our vet. --------------------------------------- Dropped off our blind dog 11.24.2025 at roughly 3pm. The morning of 11.28.2025 we received a message that his ear had been bleeding and they believed it was from scratching so they provided him with the expected medical care. Afternoon of 11.29.2025 they told us he was "shaking". My wife was able to pick him up early and take him to the emergency vet (Saturday evening and regular vet closed) who shaved and treated the area and gave him antibiotics. We did follow-up with our regular vet and they determined that the injuries were puncture wounds from a dog attack. When we told them Fur Paws said the injuries were from him scratching himself they looked at us like we had just told them 1 + 1 = 3. In spite of the records we provided from the vet showing his treatment history and their diagnosis of "dog bite wounds and vestibular disease" Fur Paws claims he arrived there with some condition that led to him scratching himself (on the inside of his ear too!). He arrived 11.24, they noticed wounds 11.28, and by the afternoon of 11.29 he was shaking so he had a fever. It takes 24-72 hours for infection and then a fever to occur so one can do the math on their claim that he arrived with an ailment already. Then you add in that these are clearly not scratch marks and you see that they're questioning our intelligence with their explanation. Send your dog here at your own risk.

Upon picking him up, it was discovered that the hair in his head was indeed cut. After contacting Eddie to inform him of the matter, he then conveyed to me that José, the technician, stated that he "felt disrespected" and that services to our dog would be discontinued. Eddie went on to say that because of the dog's disposition- there are no other techs who desired to "put up with him" and "José was the only tech who would groom him." The irony is: If in fact the dog were so unmanageable, amazingly, Eddie would call my friend to see when would she be bringing him in. If the dog were that bad, his services should have been refused 2 years ago. The final analysis- Eddie told me that he would refund me the money from the last service and that due to the dog's disgruntled disposition- there was a TLC fee, which we have never seen, prior to that day. As a patron, it was NEVER about the money. It was about José failing to follow instructions and when the issue was addressed, the company assumed a stance of victimization, which resulted in poor customer service. Accountability goes a long way a business, and sadly, they chose not to be held accountable.
