IM SO UPSET they sold me 2 sick fish and for the first day I got them I had them in a tank with filtered water and air and he or she or they died! I'm super sad and they have parasites don't get fish from here!!! read more

Ridiculous. They only had two sales rep working on the floor on a busy Sunday afternoon (with one cashier). There were a number of people back in dog grooming sitting around on their phones; maybe PetSmart outsources their grooming, but if they are employees, surely they should be cross-trained. I hunted down a rep and asked about a rodent and she clearly had no idea about what she was doing and couldn't answer my very basic question. We eventually had to approach the cashier to ask who we could talk to, and he directed us to the aquarium section. We lingered there for a while while the reps were helping other customers but eventually the girl who had originally helped us was just standing there smiling. In the end, we left the store--I didn't feel confident buying an animal from them. The store was clean and the animals (for the most part--one robo dwarf hamster was clearly having issues) seemed to be well-taken care of, so at least there's that. I probably won't be back unless it's to buy something quick that I can't find elsewhere. read more

I am always impressed by this store and their staff. The staff CLEARLY love working with animals, and they're very helpful with the customers. Several of them have taken the time to learn my dog's name, and they greet her warmly when we come in there. I haven't seen any major problems with "light" staffing. Sometimes there's only one register open, but when I've seen THAT happen it's been because the other cashier was busy cleaning up poop somewhere else in the store. The groomers do a great job on my dog's coat and claws. I'm going to post a separate review of Banfield, but they're also outstanding. I have no problem recommending this store to others! read more

Leah S took my same day grooming appointment and gave my dog the most thorough and beautiful groom ever. From the nail grinding to the perfectly tidy sanitary areas....perfection! We were late because of traffic and she was super accommodating and kind. He usually leaves the groomers with his tail tucked and acting mildly traumatized... but NOT THIS TIME. We moved here from Texas a few months ago and have tried multiple groomers in the area. Leah S is the best yet!!!! read more

I LOVE the staff (EVERYONE IS SUPER HELPFUL) as a first time dog owner, (almost a year now) they have been very helpful since day one with the needs of my Yorkie & Much needed advice. Michael AKA He who looks like "J-Cole" is to date, one of the best groomers we have experienced. In one year, I've only had one "cut" I wasn't happy with & the manager was happy to accommodate Marni upon her next visit read more

I have been coming here for some time now and right now I'm really thinking about taking my business elsewhere, on Monday I came here to get some feeders waiting ten minutes after cashier called on phone so I walked out and that wasn't the first time I did that. So today I went here tried it again a guy was at fish area feeding the fish he spoke to me and kept feeding I'm standing there for five minutes then he had the nerve to ask me do I need any help I'm done with there poor customer service!!!!!! read more

Again, the groomer that cuts my dog's hair is Daniela. My dog suffers from dryer seizures, which unfortunately, not many of their staff even knows what those are. Daniela always makes my dog looks like a million bucks. The prob is, I constantly get cancelled on. I make online appointments, then receive emails saying it was cancelled! Once it's cancelled you have to wait another week or 2!! Last wk I had an appt, that of course was cancelled! Daniela called to lmk that the "computer should have not allowed me to book, and that it was a mistake bc she was going on vacation." Fine--so she rebooked me for TODAY at 11. But guess what? Last night about 8 pm, I get an email saying they cancelled my appointment. They are super disorganized! And no one has the professionalism or courtesy to call?!? I went online and booked another appt for Fri the 25th!! Hopefully, I will update my review with a positive rating, and no one will cancel! My poor Romeo looks dreadful and needs his cut! It's too hot for all this hair! read more

3 stars because they have some nice staff. Never mind the stupid cashier that asked me if I am pregnant when I am very obviously just fat. The downside is that every time I see dogs in their grooming area, I see them on the tables shivering in fear, and for me, an animal lover, to see that, kills me. How can these groomers go through their day working on beings so utterly horrified and not hate themselves at the end of the day? Also, the other day I went in and saw a bunch of kittens stuffed into one little cube cage without a bed. I can't imagine how uncomfortable that was for them. I was relieved that a few days later the bed showed up finally, but it shouldn't have been that way even for a little while. Usually it's no one on the floor to help. I do think their policy is to leave you alone for the most part, but the problem is that when you do finally ask a question, they aren't the most well informed. read more

On two separate occasions we took one of our dogs then the other to Petsmart groomers and they were returned gagging, choking and coughing for more than a week. Beware: we have figured out that they are choking our dogs with the leash while grooming. We will never put our dogs through that kind of terror again. read more

Groomer Matthew is amazing! I didn't think my little dog could be any cuter, but Matthew's work made her so cute. He was attentive not just to my dog's needs but I observed him being so gentle and conscientious of all the dogs. Great guy and professional groomer. read more

My friend purchased two guinea pigs from this location about a month ago. While there, we asked the associate helping us what size cage you would need for two pigs, and she had no idea. We asked what kind of bedding was best, same answer. The associate had a lot of trouble picking up the pigs (sure, they're difficult sometimes, but it got to the point where we almost said forget it) and seemed generally not to know even the most standard care instructions for these animals. To make matters worse, when we got home one of the pigs was acting almost catatonic. My friend brought him to the vet the next day who said he had pneumonia. While Petsmart does allow you to bring back animals within 14 days, my friend decided to administer antibiotics she got from the vet instead of assuming the Greenbelt Petsmart would care for the animal. I understand that as an associate you can't know everything about every type of animal, but if you're helping a customer you either find the answer or direct them to someone else who can help them. It's also dangerous for the animals to have associates who don't know how to care for them. read more

This is by far the worst PetSmart grooming salon I have ever taken my dog to. Because of covid and my age (72) - I needed to use their advertised "curb-side" check-in and check-out. HOWEVER, IT WAS NON-EXISTENT AT THIS STORE - NO CURB CHECK-IN SIGNS AND NO ONE ANSWERED CHECK-IN-PHONE. Left in disgust, went home and complained to corporate Customer Service - another appointment was made for me by TeamLeader Sherrelle but she forgot to put it in computer so no appointment when I arrived - groomer DANIELE was rude, hostile, and confrontational insisting I had no appointment, until Sherrell arrived and confirmed my story - nobody was really sorry at all and all they said was "OOPS" for all the grief I had gone through. DON'T GO HERE!!!!!!!! read more

DO NOT GO TO THE BANFIELD VET AT THIS PETSMART! We have been customers at petsmart for years, and our dog Rusty has had an insurance plan through petsmart since he was a puppy. We have reached our limit with them, they are a complete SCAM. Our dog rusty had a severe cough, so we took him to see the vet. She diagnosed him with kennel cough, and prescribes $160 worth of medicine. After letting his groomer know (the last place he was around other dogs), the groomer agreed to pay for his vet bills, which was great. However, a week later when we go to pick up a copy of his vet bills and diagnosis to show the groomer, the vet tells us "Oh im sorry, it wasnt kennel cough". I was LIVID. You tell me he has a diagnosis in order for me to buy expensive medicine, then when i ask for PROOF you apologize and say that wasnt the real diagnosis. SWINDLES! That is like me going to the dr. with a cold, and them treating me for strep throat without even testing for strep. This makes me rethink his diagnosis of heartworm last year, in which we paid almost $1000 for x-rays, tests, overnight stays, and a "treatment", for them to say he doesn't have if after the first of 3 treatments he was supposed to have. Something made me ask them to retest him after the 1st treatment, to make sure we didnt have to pay for the 2nd and 3rd, im glad I did! Heartworm doesnt just "disappear", but in Rustys case, it did. I should have cancelled all ties with petsmart then. Shame on me. I will be writing a letter to their cooperate headquarters, because every time I take my dog for a vet visit, I shouldn't have a "suggested" treatment plan of atleast $100, especially when nothing is wrong with my pet. Im sure if youve been to banfield, youve experienced a case of the "Oh no your dog is going to die, pay $500 and we will fix them" syndrome. If banfield is on yelp, I will be posting this there too. read more

It sucks especially when the manger gives you attitude right from the jump. I came in with a care credit card and politely asked if he took the card, His response no I don't, if it don't have a visa logo on the back, rather snorky might I add, and in front of the customers. I just walked out, because I was'nt fixing on going to jail, but his attitude clearly needed an a makeover. read more

I've been going to the PetSmart in Greenbelt for over 2 years now for dog food, toys, etc and I have always had a good experience. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The store is very clean as well, considering you are allowed to bring your pets inside the store with you. I like that, as I've taken my dog in there a few times and when I do, almost every time the front cashier will acknowledge us and say hi. I cant comment on the prices of items, since I basically buy the Purina Pro Plan dog food and sometimes Greenies snacks but they have a good selection of everything. read more

Received excellent advise about gadgetry for my aquarium. Staff is extremely helpful and patient. I'm so dissapointed right now about the grooming department. I'm so done with taking any of my pets there @the Greenbelt location. Today is the final straw. I get a phone call today around 11:00 am (the day of my pet appointment) that was scheduled at 2:00pm, the groomers ask if I can bring my pet in earlier because they close at 6pm today and they can't do any pets after 12pm. I am so sick of last minute changes. What's the point of scheduling online days before???This has happened to me several of times at this location and I am done. Also, they didn't even offer anything for the inconvenience. I should have paid more attention to the bad reviews for this location, but I ignored them. Now I see. read more

I never even made it to the store. Since I'm from the other side of DC, I decided to call to check on their selection of pet rats before I spend $5+ on metro fare to get there and back. I wanted to know if 1) they had any, since the Petco near me has been out of rats for a while now, and 2) which gender they had, since I'm looking for a companion for my female. The first person to answer the phone was female and actually huffed at my question before putting me on hold. Five minutes later, a man answers and I have to ask my questions again. What happened to the woman, I have no idea. The man puts me on hold again to go check. Two or so minutes later, he comes back and says they currently don't have any rats but when they do, they'll be male. In short, seven and a half minutes later I have the answer to a thirty second question. I was toying between 1 or 2 stars considering the attitude of the woman and how long I was on hold but the man was polite and made sure to check the gender of rats they would be receiving. read more

So I was going in to Petsmart and as I walk I really need to use the bathroom I go into the bathroom and it was very stinky and there was toilet paper every were it was pretty nasty . I get out of that bathroom as soon as possible I mean like if your going to want customers the Customers have to feel ugh what do I call it umm welcomed and like this is a safe and clean place to be .i then went to look at the furry animals there were really cute I loved them next we went to the fish section my favorite because I love fish I'm loving there selection until I see many dead fish heartbreaking I move on and notice there aren't any snails or shrimp which are one of my VERY FAVORITE things to pick when I'm here I also look at their bettas try were all dirty and they didn't have a really pretty selection like when I came here to get my betta fish oppa who is a halfmoon red purple green and blue gorgeous betta for only 8 dollars what a score no when I went today their was only shabby veiltal betta that didn't look happy at all very saddening so we were about to leave when I see some bamboo plants on a desk that is connected to the crickets I look bening the desk to get a better look at them and right in that very desk I see 2 goldfish in the nastiest water ever they seem to have been ill and taken out the water to not get the others sick it wouldn't there mission be to heal back to health then to keep them In dirty water ?so this petsmart doesn't even diserve on star I am very very disappointed in them they seem like they actually care about there animals but this visit made me think otherwise I will return to this store to see their progress in their selection of fish ,in bathroom maintance, and in there care of fish This is JJ the best signing out peace read more

I take my American staffy here to get a nail trim because he will not allow me to do it... so since he's scared of heights for them its an easy job. last time I went I was the first one to enter I gave my name an number told them I was there for a nail trim. after another person walked it they completely ignored me an took the other person for a whole 10 min talk about something that had nothing to do with anythinggggg!!! he after got a leash and but it on my dog but I felt like he was forced to do his job. I am not getting this for free I am paying them. they need to get there sh*t together read more

I got my cat shaved n trimmed here, first lets start from the fact that Bethesda was my first option but they were rude over the phone and too "busy to courteous". I called their sister store and got nothing but pleasantries, came an hour early for my appt, got out at my appt start time. Jamie did an amazing job, man, my cat was a hairy mess, I just wish they didn't leave hair around his arms, he looks kinda silly. I hate lion cuts with a passion, I just think they're ridiculous looking and I want to get rid of all the hair not just some of it. Now if I didn't have to stop at the register they would have gotten 5 stars but that cashier just wasn't very well versed in customer etiquette. I walk up to the register and this broad says 'what' or 'what you want', something like that... I'mma need ya'll to get that together, I almost smacked her from parental reflex, you know, something I would do to my child or niece/nephew if they answered me like that. Besides that moment my experience was a good one. read more

Had been going to petsmart greenbelt for grooming for about 4 years. The quality of overall service had been declining for quite some time. But because I wanted to stick with a groomer that was familiar with my pets, I bit the bullet and continued to be a patron of this facility. Upon my last visit, I had not received a call five to six hours after dropping of my pet for service. Rather than calling to investigate, I went to the grooming salon only to find my 4 pound Maltese on the floor, by herself, chained to the base of the grooming table, while her " new groomer" was on the phone supposedly calling clients of pets that were ready to be picked up....I SAID THE FLOOR!!!!! Needless to say, I no longer, nor will I ever take my pet dog...cat....or rock to this facility ever again. I found a new grooming salon that is closer to my home, cleaner, cheaper, and employees a staff that actually cares about the well being of my pet. I don't think twice about the care she is receiving when I leave her in their care...and that feeling within itself is priceless. read more

the last time i been there they did a bad job, i will not get kiko groomed at pet smart. 50$ down the drain!...

Employees are still friendly, customer service is good; the small animals and reptiles all seem to be in pretty good shape, esp. compared to PetCo. However, speaking as a "pocket pet" owner, it would be nice if the shelves of products for these animals could be kept decently stocked. Anymore, every single time I go to this store, any time of day, any day of the week, the shelves are 3/4 empty. read more

The groomers were rude and inconsiderate to customers. The salon was dirty. I will never take my dog here again.

When searching for a scratching post I came across one that had diarrhea on it. She rudely said "No, I will just wipe it off and sell it at full price" then walked away. read more

I just left the Petsmart in Greenway Plaza without paying for my intended purchase (approx. $35.00) and left it on the belt at the cash register because the one cashier who was left checking out every single customer at 8 :50 PM (store closes at 9 PM) was so slow and ill-trained. I simply ran out of patience. Hey PetsMart .... WAKE UP. Train your cashiers to make the transaction happen for paying customers and hand off the customer service situations to some other employee who is NOT ON A CASH REGISTER. I dropped my dog off at 9:am and did not hear anything until 4pm (when I had to call the store). I was told my dog was ready and I could pick him up. When I walked in to the grooming area they told me to go to the front and pay first (which was fine). When I returned there were 6 employees in the area working on dogs and none of them stopped what they were doing or even stated someone would help me at any point. After about 5 minutes one of the employees completed their dog and handed to the other customer and got my dog. When he came out he had been brushed but NOT washed. His paws still looked as dirty as when I dropped him off 8 HOURS ago. When I noted this the staff member looked over the counter and said "You are right, I am not sure how we missed that." Missed it!?!?!?!?! It was the MAIN reason I was dropping him off! They asked about taking him back but I could not spend my day going back and forth to PetSmart. This is BAR NONE the WORST service I have EVER received from ANY company. read more

Brought my dog in to be groomed at 7:00 in the morning. One of the first dogs there. She told me 3 to 4 hours. When I came back at 10:45, she had just started. I brought him here not long after moving here about six months ago. The first time there was a guy and he did a decent job. This time, a total butcher job. Terrible job of blending his head and neck hair, his tail, while I asked them not to cut it, had not been brushed out at all. And although I paid for a shampoo and cut, I'm fairly sure by the condition of his tail and his smell, they didn't bathe him. The staff there now isn't particularly friendly either. $50 for a shitty haircut. It's probably my fault. I know that a lot of them are just out of Petsmart grooming school. Maybe Petsmart needs to do a better job training or maybe screening their potential candidates. I did notice one of the girls being rough with a dog that was fidgeting. I don't recommend it. I won't go there again. read more

worse petsmart i've ever been to. been there three times and each time was the same. i've been to others and had a better experience. first thing is that your pet should have a petsmart bandana, should smell good, and hair should not be all over your dog. but my dog didn't have any of that. i'm not sure if their staff is experienced enough with different types of dogs. i would recommend you take your pet to another location. read more
