    Loki's arm from daycare

I took my 7 month old German shepherd, Loki back in March for the first time due to a recommendation from a dog walker. Once he was home I notice he had his front leg all scratched up and was limping. I immediately call the daycare, they couldn't say what exactly happened to Loki. Until someone named Jonathan reached out to me more in detailed about could've possibly happened and accidents happen, to also give a call to the vet. Which makes no sense, I'm now suppose to also take the time to take my dog to the vet because of their fault that they don't have adequate supervision for dogs. Fast forward to yesterday, I decided to take my dog back and give them one more try. Once again I got home and noticed Loki limping. I will definitely not be taking my dog back. They should have more supervision to notice if anything is wrong with your dog.

They lost our dog. They removed both our dogs from the secured area with no collars on. One dog became extremely sick, the other has been missing for over 100 days. While their manager initially tried to help us, his lack of communication + attention to detail cost us valuable time. The owners of the business never contacted us once. At this point, I would never in good conscience recommend this business to anyone.

My happy pup loves the large outdoor space and well-matched playmates at Paradise for Pets.

This place changed my life. Seriously. Pet parents you know how hard it is to leave your pups when you have to travel. Well this place has changed that. I have a large dog who loves to play, needs loads of exercise, hates being crated and likes to be outside especially in very cold weather. When I pull up to Paradise for Pets, my pup starts to howl and bark. He is so excited he drags me to the entrance gate. He kisses all the staff and goes off with them without a backwards glance at me. When I pick him up, he's always happy and a little worn out from all the playing. I got his best pup pal to try out Paradise for Pets and she's hooked too. I've started traveling for work and vacation again but without all the guilt and worry. Paradise for Pets is a good drive away from where I live. I happily pass other boarding facilities to take my pup to the best one in the DMV.

Lobo at age 5yrs old. Deceased.

Always a great time for our two border collies. They are soooo excited as soon as we turn into the driveway.

I was recommended Old Towne Pet Resort by a coworker, and I will now be recommending them too!…read more I called to make a 2-week dog boarding reservation 30-days in advance for the peak Christmas season, and they miraculously had availability at one of their three locations (Bethesda). The gentleman on the phone was so helpful and informative and made it easy. When it came time to drop my dog off the staff were so friendly and kind, and they were extremely attentive and took detailed notes of all the items I brought with my dog and any of her quirks (e.g., severe allergies, doesn't play well with others, etc.). The space was so clean and large. I felt very reassured dropping her off as I went on vacation. When I came back to get her, the staff was helpful and, again, extremely kind and talked about her time there with details that were definitely unique to my dog. She was happy, healthy, clean, and well groomed. All of her toys and leash items were accounted for and they even ran a toy out to my car that they had forgotten in her kennel. Bottom line: 5/5 do recommend!

Two years after boarding my dog at Olde Towne Pet Resort, I am still dealing with health issues…read morecaused during her stay. I am not one to complain, especially in a public forum, but the lack of care my animal received was egregious. During her stay, my dog experienced an ear infection so severe that she developed acute dermatitis from scratching. The sore or 'hot spot' on her cheek was unmissable when we picked her up, but The staff tried to pass it off as if everything was normal. The groomer who prepared her for pickup had the gall to pretend he didn't notice a massive weeping sore on her face. For her condition to have reached this point, she would have needed to scratch constantly for days and not be noticed by the staff that were supposed to be spending 'cuddle time' with her daily. As anyone who has ever had a pet with an ear infection can attest, the behavior is far from subtle. Any remotely observant and competent person would catch it. Worse, I reviewed the update photos that were sent throughout her stay, and red spot on her cheek is visible in every shot and getting progressively worse. This means that the staff overseeing playtime let an animal run around with blood on her face for days without investigating. This is utterly unacceptable. My dog also came home with constant bouts of diarrhea that we assumed this might have been a bug she picked up in boarding, but it turned out to be colitis. Our veterinarian confirmed that this was most likely stress-induced. It has made me wonder what trauma my dog experienced while being boarded that would cause her to develop a permanent bowel condition. Her colitis has caused her enormous suffering and I am still trying to manage the condition years later. As others have reported here, the staff did not feed my animal the way they were directed, and returned what was supposed to be an empty bag of dog food to us half-full. So to recap, they underfed my dog in addition to neglecting an ear infection and resultant severe, pus-weeping skin infection, then tried to pass my pet off to me as if nothing happened. Whatever they did or neglected to do for her led to a chronic bowel condition that has rendered her partially incontinent. I was appalled by the dishonesty I experienced from the staff, but decided at the time to let it go, and simply swore never to give Olde Towne my business again. I figured my dog would bounce back, but she didn't. Reflecting that she has never been the same and that she experienced pain and neglect at the hands of the people I entrusted her with, I feel the need to let other pet owners know what they might be in for if they board their animals here.

My initial call was returned quickly, and Joelyne was friendly, professional, and enthusiastic about meeting my dog. She was timely in sending the onboarding paperwork, and completing the set-up was easy. She set up a Zoom call (since my request for service was only 2 days away), and "met" me and my dog virtually. It was perfect. Every day while I was away, one of Prance Around's team members showed up during my specified window and walked my dog for 45 minutes. I received a custom walk report via email every day following the walk, and it usually included pictures. I LOVE that feature! While on vacation, a family member became critically ill and required hospitalization immediately upon our return to the US. I was able to email Prance Around and extend service for an additional week without any problems. Our service commitment ended, and only a few short days later, my family member was back in the hospital. With only a day's notice, I was able to contact Prance Around and get my dog back on their schedule. No hassles. No problems. Joelyne and her crew are incredibly kind, generous, and empathetic. It has been such a relief to know that I can call on them to take care of my girl and not have any worries. I would, without hesitation, absolutely recommend Prance Around Pet Services, and I will continue to use them as our needs arise. Thank you, Joelyne, for making these last two weeks a lot less stressful and for taking such good care of my girl!

As long as our dog was doing well. When we arrived home, we realized that her bed was missing. I called and asked about her bed. They placed me on hold for 5 minutes... Not a good sign.. they told me they were still looking and that they would call us back tomorrow morning. Havind never received a phone call, I called them at 10:00 a.m. and was told that they were still unable to find the bed. A staff member overheard her talking and said oh sorry your dog shredded it the first night. So, our dog was without her bed for four nights and no one bothered to inform us? We also found out by that same person that they threw out her dog toy because there was feces all over it... Again you didn't think to tell us about this? That's pretty serious because my dog had diarrhea when we picked her up yesterday and this morning. Could that be the reason??! I also found out that they had over 100 dogs yesterday!

02/28/25 I dropped off my 2 year old lab at daycare at 8am after not being there for 1.5 years…read morebecause I waited until he was 2 y/o to get neutered. At 6:20pm when we picked him up, immediately outside the front door, I noticed a bald spot on his lower back. Quickly inspecting it, I brushed it off since he might've gotten it from playing w/ another dog and did not see any deep punctures in the bald spot. He arrived at daycare with both a harness and a neck collar on but could only use the collar for daycare. So they kept his harness on the hook until pickup and put it back on him when giving him to us. When we got home and took off the harness, hidden underneath where the harness sits, we noticed dried blood on his fur on top of his shoulder blade. Upon further inspection, there was a gash, deep enough to be able to open the wound and see subcutaneous skin. We took him to an emergency vet where he got staples and was sent home with antibiotics and pain meds. Why did the daycare not inform us of this incident? I understand dogs may play rough and given it was his first time back in 1.5 years, but my dog is not aggressive. He doesn't bite or bark (he barks when hungry), regardless of around strangers or other dogs. He is the friendliest pup ever and loves rubs. Even if he got into a scuffle with another dog, why did they not give us a call? What even happened? We utilized their indoor/outdoor play cameras throughout the day and in the hours of 3:00pm to when we picked him up, he was nowhere to be found. Manager said their sleep suites and other areas in the camp have no cameras. So where was my dog from 3:00-6:20pm? If he was put away due to a fight, still, why did they not inform us? Anyways not much we could do that night besides get my dog fixed up, as daycare closed at 7pm. So I called their number and left a voicemail. Next day, we came back to speak with the manager. Brought the vet bill with me. Told him what happened. In the end, there was NO type of accountability. I asked, "if an employee had to put his harness on to give him back to us, how did he not see the cut with DRIED red blood around the area?" Do they don't care or were aware enough to quickly glance at the dogs there to see their physical health throughout the day? Manager contradicted himself. He first apologized and said "it happened on the way out of bringing him to you" then contradicted himself later saying "my staff did not notice anything on your dog when we brought him out." So was the staff aware of what happened to my dog or not? If they acknowledged it, why NOT INFORM US when it happened? The LACK of communication and accountability is what upsets me. Accidents happen. I understand. But where is the communication at? After that went down, he tried to offer to reimburse us back a day's worth of day care ($40 btw) and a free enrichment session ($10). You think that makes up for the $650 unplanned vet bill? The emotional trauma when we found the cut? Most importantly, my DOG'S well-being and our TRUST in Camp Bow Wow in taking care of my dog???? He said he couldn't reimburse us for the bill, even though the incident happened under their care and supervision. Yes the disclaimer I signed said they are not liable but wow, I can't believe a money-hungry corporate facility would rather let me face the vet bill and having to take off work for the next week for my dog than to offer to reimburse me. Again, vet bill is not the issue; LACK of COMMUNICATION and ACCOUNTABILITY is the issue. Least they could do is offer to reimburse the bill. I want to bring awareness to Camp Bow Wow. Be careful bringing your pups here, they might just send you home with a hurt dog and a "we can't do anything about it" attitude!!!!!! Emergency vet said it is highly unlikely it was another dog's bite or nail scratch, as the cut was very straight and she said a "superficial" object may have caused it. So if that rules out another dog doing it, WHO or WHAT cut him??? WHY are the dogs playing around SHARP edges/objects and unaware staff?? If dog load is an issue to have staff constantly supervising them, then hire some more people. At the end of the day, my dog came home with a fat cut on him and no one knows what happened.
