I stopped by this PetSmart because it was on my route home from another event. Overall, I thought this store was pretty well-organized, because I did not need to spend too much time searching for what I need....a big azz bag of dog food. The store was very clean, and I thought the customer service was very on point. Prices at this location were pretty comparable to other PetSmarts in the area. Although I had a pleasant experience at this PetSmart, I probably will not visit it too frequently since it is a bit out of my way. read more

With my local PetCo gone, I find myself coming to PetSmart way more often. I have never dealt with Banfield or the pet care -- I strictly come for products or fish. Being a part of Greenway Center, there's plenty of parking... but sometimes I have to park further away than others, especially at peak times. If I need cat food or litter, that's usually pretty easy to grab and go. There have been a few times where there has only been one register open, and when that happens it can get long. But thankfully that's rare! Now, what I do see as a recurring thing is that no one is usually around in the aquarium section -- even in the middle of the day. I recall wait times up to 20 minutes to get some fish! If anything, I hope they work on that. Otherwise, for your pet needs, PetSmart should have what you're looking for. read more

This review is for the grooming salon and Sharelle I've been taking my dog Chloe to this location for grooming, and her vet visits since she was gifted to me almost 9 years ago and my experiences have almost always been pleasant and I'm always pleased with how well she's groomed. It can take awhile sometimes but it is worth it IMO. I now know to make express appointments because Chloe has separation anxiety and can have seizures if she gets too upset. Sharelle is the BEST groomer although she's typically booked out months in advance. They are always very careful with Chloe and Sharelle picks out the cutest bows! There are other locations that are now closer to where I live but I still and will continue to go back to this location for grooming. Thanks Sharelle! read more

The store is very clean and neat, with animals well displayed. There is usually a relatively broad selection of juvenile reptiles. I bought a lovely albino Pueblo Milk Snake for the reasonable price of $65. Getting a sales assistant was tough, because the store isn't well staffed. The assistant didn't seem to know much about the snake and what I needed. Maybe she held back because I'd done my homework and didn't need all of the equipment for a habitat. Notably, she encouraged me to keep the stores feeding schedule when snakes typically don't eat for a week or two after the trauma of being transported. Here's where Petcos provide better service. At Petcos, the staff seem to own several of the pets and have experience to share. They will tell you when their experience isn't aligned with the company spiel. They may take out the animals and let you hold them before you buy. They recommend kits like the Zilla Rep Yourselfs that save you money even if you don't need everything, and include useful stuff you might have skipped. The Pueblo Milk Snakes are notoriously good at escaping. So Petco would recommend clamps to secure the lids on terrariums. Petco actually offers comprehensive guides on pet care for each species they sell. These are available for free online. Petsmart claims to have similar resources online, but either doesn't or my sales assistant couldn't find them!? Petsmart has a 15/day satisfaction guarantee. Petco's is 30 days. Long story short, my snake did escape within days and ended up not being well received in a neighbor's apartment. I've since bought a Beatded Dragon and a Ball Python at different Petcos. So I recommend fhat you go with Petco. They'll even tell you if a sale's coming up soon. Otherwise, be sure to do your homework. Consumer beware. read more

This store is understaffed like all Petsmart/Petco stores (gotta make more profit) which leads to substandard and deadly animal care. When I was there recently, the filtration system in one of their fish tanks had failed, the water was cloudy (bacteria bloom) and had no oxygen, the fish were dead or dying. It must have been like this for several days. This doesn't happen overnight. The staff hadn't noticed b/c they know nothing abt fish or don't care. When I pointed it out to them, I was the problem. At a pet store, the pets are dying, but the customer who points it out, is the problem. There were no apologies. No we will handle it right away. I won't be shopping there again. read more

Was just in here- there are at least two cats up for adoption with really bad ear mites. The others I couldn't see because they were sleeping and had their heads down. I let the nice woman at the register know and she thanked me for letting her know and said she would let management know right away. I hope she does. It is unfathomable they would overlook that. If you are looking to adopt, check their ears- healthy kitty ears should be pink inside. Not red either- that's a sign of infection from ear mites. read more

Been there twice for my dog's grooming. Won't be back. Each time they had one excuse after another as to why they couldn't shave her face, or her chest, or they couldn't clean her ears. I have been taking my dog to this location for grooming for the past 10 years and just last year the grooming, salons manager, Ari has repeatedly made every effort to turn my dog away. The first time he said it was because I needed cardiac clearance because my dog had a murmur of 2/5. Apparently, this was some new policy by Petsmart that was never previously informed to me. However I got my clearance and then was told that because the appointment was made as a regular appointment, they couldn't see my dog because it needed to be an Express appointment. Then most recently, my dog was turned away because I was told she was too matted. This was not true, because I took my dog to the vet at Banfield in the same Petsmart location 3 days later, and the veterinarian walked over to the grooming salon and told them that my dog was not matted. The vet suggested that we take our dog to a different location and that's exactly what I did. I went to Petco and had no problems whatsoever. I would not recommend Groomers at Petsmart at Greenbelt location to anyone. read more

Lanai that works in Banfield Hospital is AMAZING!!!!! She answered any questions i had about my dog and gave me lots of helpful tips. She was very professional and very friendly. Very knowledgeable about the processes and what i should expect after my visit with my pet. I will be asking for her every time i go there!! Adding to my initial review.... i went to have my one on one dog training with Karen today. She's is soooo nice and was very gentle with my dog. She was able to get my dog to trust her and listen to her commands. She gave me so much information about what to look for in my dogs body language and how to treat her to get her to trust me. I'm excited to see what other things i learn from this training. Overall i would say this is the best PetSmart location i have been to. The customer service I receive every time I come here is impeccable!!!! Greenbelt Grooming discriminates against cat owners. They have one cat groomer who comes in one day a week. You have only a 4-hour window to get your cat seen. When I called, I heard her tell the lady to take my number and she would call me back. Never happened. The following week, I went in on that day to make an appointment. I reminded her that she did not call me. She immediately began blaming management for her schedule and not having enough time because they want dogs done. Never once took ownership of her actions. That's when she said she can only do cats in the morning though she is there until 8PM. Ridiculous!! read more

The grooming salon is HORRENDOUS. My puppy came here to be groomed and has never had a full haircut before. However, the groomer insisted that he had to be shaved completely down to avoid tear of his skin and injury so I agreed. I later found out that this shave down could have been avoided and he simply could've been detangled. Anyhow, the very night he came home he stayed up all night licking his paw which alarmed me because he never does that. I immediately examined his paw this time thoroughly to see if I could find anything. I quickly noticed that he had been cut between his paws!!! And no one said anything. This cut had made a turn for the worse as he is a 9 month puppy he will lick what's irritated and had I been informed of the cut it wouldn't have become infected. He couldn't walk for almost two weeks. Barely ate or slept. He had to take several meds. Several other alarming things I paid for that weren't done from the groomers but most Importantly I am disappointed and will NEVER bring him to another petsmart this is sickening. On top of this they have yet to get back to me concerning this issue. Almost $600 in vet fees, I had to miss work and his sitter wouldn't even watch him from him being so sick due to this cut!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE. read more

Stay okay from this pets smart. I made a appointment online with the dog salon with Daniela. And I told her I did not want to cut to much on my puppy. This was on Labor Day. I drop him of 12:30pm and it was close to 4 and nobody had call Me to get him so I went to pick him up. Omg my puppy looks horrible the cut was bad some pieces bigger than other uneven cut they did not cut hair from his tail or ears. He look like they did not shower him. I could have done a better job a home. This people don't know what there doing. And when I pick up my puppy the guy was so rude.i will Never come here again. I just love going to this PetSmart. I have been shopping here since I adopted my first Rottie, Angel in 2002. The first people I met at that time were Lidia, Tammy and Sharella who is in grooming. Angel was my first dog in my adult life so I knew very little. Both Tammy and Lidia took care of that aspect walking me through all that was needed and Sharella walked me through her grooming needs. I felt like part of their family and vice versa. I shop here all of the time and take my newest member, Tina for grooming. Zoe now grooms Tina with such care and love that we both are tickled pink with how beautiful she looks when I pick her up. Johnny is superb as the District Manager. He is so personable, knowledgeable and has such an excellent rapport with his staff. I love everything about this PetSmart and I must because I live in DC and drive at least 30 minutes to shop and have my fur baby groomed here. I even took my friend to have her dog groomed by Seth. My friend was so pleased and outdone to see how handsome Papa Bear looked after his grooming. The groomers are awesome and so helpful even if they are not scheduled to groom your dog. The time, love and advice that they give is so well received and much needed for those of us who lack knowledge and the necessary needs for our pets grooming. I find myself spending at least 20 or 30 minutes extra in the store because I feel so welcomed and they are just my other family away from home. I don't know all of the names of the staff here but I must mention those that where I do know the names. I am forever grateful to them for their help, answering my questions, making such excellent suggestions and treating me with such superb customer service, professionalism and so much LOVE, With that being said, Tina and I would like to send THANKS AND SHOUT OUTS TO: Johnny, Tammy, Lidia, Erik, Alex, Gianne, Jasmin, Cecilia, Rosa, Seth and Zoe. You all make this store AWESOME and you definitely make me want to continue coming back for more. I love you all. Please forgive me for not knowing everyone's name and possibly having some incorrect spellings. GREAT JOB GIRLS AND GUYS! Keep up the good work. Thanks for the LOVE! Sheila Westerfield read more

i don't usually write reviews but i felt like this deserved one. i went into this petsmart this saturday and saw multiple of these murky and disgusting beta fish containers sitting out on the shelf with the other beta fish for sale. my friend inspected them and all of these murky containers (plus others that hadn't been neglected to this point) contained dead and decomposed beta fish. i understand that as a worker that things fly under the radar and you might not have time to fix something. but this? right across from the registers? the state of these containers too.. they must have been decomposing for a while. I'm used to maybe seeing one or two dead fish sometimes but this? this was disgusting. these poor fish have been dead for some time and just left out like this. Very sad to see the poor fish dying and rotting for everyone to see as soon as you walk in the door. read more

I had to wait a minute to write this review, because I was so infuriated. The grooming salon butchered my dog's coat and did an absolutely HORRIBLE job!!! I have a cockapoo and they advised that my dogs hair has to be shaved all the way down due to some matting. I understood, but I didn't think he would look like an alien afterward. I was charged for dematting and they didn't even demat. They just shaved all his hair off. I'm highly disappointed. read more

So I walk in and there is a long line of not-cheerful looking people at one cash register. Which is not attended because the one cashier was helping someone else. Stores that don't properly staff their locations annoy me a great deal. Not only does it make life rotten for customers and employees, it gives the impression that corporate is full of morons. At any rate, I looked at the long line of unhappy people and I thought 'It's a good thing I'm just checking the price on Kitten Chow.' So I went to check the price on Kitten Chow and Holy Scratching Post, Catman! Do you ever have one of those moments when you blink and squint because you can't believe what you're seeing? That was me discovering they charge nearly twice the price that Target charges and more than a dollar over what it costs at CVS (neither of these places, you may be aware, are pet food stores). Five Star Grooming Service! This review is long overdue but better late than never! I love this location for dog grooming. We have a 100 pound Italian Mastiff named Nosirrah that has been coming here for almost 3 years and I could not be happier with the groomers. I have rarely met a friendlier group of people who genuinely love pets and also to like each other as well. They seem to understand that customer service means that you take a moment to smile, greet the customer, greet the animal and make the atmosphere feel welcoming because without fail this is what they do. Not only that, they do an excellent job with the dog services and we've had almost all of them! As a business owner I really value this kind of treatment and I really hope that this Petsmart realizes what they have in their groomers. Good Job everyone! read more

By far the worst experience I have encountered at Petsmart. The salon "leader" Sherrel was very rude, nasty, and dismissive. She tried to reschedule my appointment after I came in and told her I already had an appointment she goes on to tell me she's not sure who's going to cut my dogs hair. I'm not sure why that would be any of my concern when it's up to the staff to decide who will do it. I had surgery so I wasn't able to care for my dog properly she told me they would give him a simple shave for dematting. They cut ALL his hair off all over without even informing me. Then instead of the courtesy call to inform me when to pick him up that he's ready she disappeared because she knew she couldn't face me after what she did to my dog. I thank God for the store manager John and Lalah they were very helpful when it came to resolving the issue. John was very polite and attentive and told me he would discuss the incident with Sherrel and Lalah was kind enough to walk my dog to the car. I'm so grateful for thier kind gestures. read more

While the pet grooming staff are nice people they are also very disorganized and disoriented. My mother showed up in person to schedule an appointment for our German Shepherd. When I arrived with our dog at the scheduled time I was told there was no appointment in the system. I had no choice but to set up an appointment for the following day. When I came back the same thing occurred. I was told there was no appointment in the system, and was told I would have to come back. I insisted on having our dog attended that day to which they agreed. I was told to expect to pick him up at around 4 PM. It was after 6 PM and I hadn't gotten a call to confirm he was done. I had to call myself, and when they picked up it was as if they forgot our dog was there. He wasn't even on the list. I was told to come right away and they would have him ready by the time I showed up. Not true. Not only was he the last dog to be attended the attendant didn't even finish the job. She told me, "You can keep brushing him when you get home." To add insult to injury, we found out that the grooming attendants underestimated the price of the service by about $20. Horrible pet grooming service. Do not recommend. The store gets 2 stars for being clean and orderly. The staff in the retail section have more of their act together. read more

The employees will bend over backwards for their customers however, the corporate office screws them by not keeping the store well stocked. We start our "digestive challenged" dog on a new food ONLY to have to repeat this process continually putting my dog through distress because the corporate office refuses to keep the store well stocked. If there were a way to post a NEGATIVE 10 rating, I'd do that! This grooming salon basically is a bunch of kids with clippers! My dog was terrified! I have an expensive 7th month old Scottish terrier that I specifically asked for them to "cut to breed"! They seemed unsure of what the various breeds should look like (and I should've taken that as a sign). I came back to find that my dog was cut to look like a skunk! These amateurs balded the dog and he even has bald areas on his underside. They washed him in some shampoo that totally dried out his coat and he had dandruff all over my coat when I picked him up. Asked for a store manager to find out that NONE of the store employees use their own salon. Woooooww! Really! Cole's picture is posted on the site. I called Grooming Manager Jamie and she stated that all of her groomers are trained! Yeah...right! Who by? The Texas Chainsaw Massacre guy? Anyway, I've asked for my $51 refund for these jacked up services. Stay tuned....cause if I done receive it....I'll not only be posting again but I'll be calling their corporate offices! So this was my second horrible experience with this place. I let the first one slide because they made up for it once they realized they left me waiting for 20 minutes. But this time they really went too far. I came in to buy some crickets all they had were the preboxed ones, which tend to be mostly dead, but no biggie It happens. So i went to pay, and since it was less than $5, I was going to pay cash. I get rung up, and she tells me the total, hand her the cash, and wait for my change. Next thing she tells me I owe another buck and change. This strikes me as odd, since this would make sales tax around 20%, but hand her the money. I step away from the register and take a look ar the receipt, and there's a $2 donation on there. Now I'm all for helping animals in need, and donate to my local shelter, however, I don't appreciate a shale down. I point out the extra charge to the woman who rang me up, and she says I must have authorized it. When I point out that's not possible since I never touched the keypad having paid cash, she pretty much called me a liar. She eventually refunded my money, after refusing to let me speak to anyone else, or even giving me a contact to speak to, but was rude and insulting the whole time. This was really beyond any rudeness I've ever encountered. read more

I came to this Petsmart after the reality set in, that Bethesda was entirely too far away. I used the Banfield location here, purchased items from the store, and did grooming here as well. I was a little disappointed in the grooming staff as they moved extremely slow with the check out process, but overall, Basil had a great cut, and I was happy. I was most impressed with Banfield here. The team here is thoughtful, energetic, and have great vets. I do not own a dog or cat so can not comment like some of the other reviews about how the store treats those owners. What I come to the store for is tropical fish. I have been keeping tropical fish since I was a kid so about 40 years. When ever I go to the fish department the tanks are always clean and the fish supplies are arranged nice and neat. And when the store runs a sale on fish and supplies their prices are lower then other area pet shops. One of the things I do to play it forward is donate aquarium set ups to local schools so children can learn about aquatic life. And when I catch a sale the prices here make my purchase dollars go farther which means more fun items for the classroom tanks. read more

Shout out to the amazing staff at Greenbelt Petsmart. The short version of the story is that we met a cat at the cat adoption center . But the rescue agency that had brought the cat to Greenbelt was terrible. I called them with a minor question and they took her back to the shelter to check on a potential medical issue. I checked on her every day she was back at the shelter and they said they would tell us when she was cleared and we could come to the shelter and adopt her. There was a lot of indifference and poor communication at the shelter and they never told us what was wrong or that the cat was sent back to Greenbelt PetSmart. Luckily the staff at the PetSmart looked out for us. They called us when the cat came back in and made sure she wasn't adopted out before we could race over and get her. They showed a lot of care for both the cat and their customers. Without the adoption manager Max and the PetSmart team, we wouldn't have this amazing pet. Thanks to you all! read more
