Avoid the doggy daycare. I took my dog here on several occasions after seeing online and in store how to claim to engage with the dog. After several visits I found they aren't actually doing anything with the dogs. I questioned the manager about this, I think her name is Melissa and she stated that they don't do activities with them all day. I brought my dog to day care on three separate occasions, and visited him throughout the day hoping to see him interact with the other dogs. Not a single time did I ever see him or any of the other dogs doing anything except sitting on the floor with PetSmart staff making up progress reports at 10 am. I was disappointed that PerSmart does not do anything they advertise, they don't engage with the dogs, they don't provide toys. I mentioned my disappointment to Melissa and noted that they also provide a service where the dog sits in the back all day and it's half the price of dog daycare. Since that was the service I received, I asked to pay for that. Melissa then told me they don't do that but would allow me to not pay and then ban me from the daycare. I found this to be incredibly dramatic, and immature, especially from a "manager". I have 3 dogs, and I spend a lot of money at PetSmart with grooming, training, food, treats and toys. I actually called head office with respect to Melissas behaviour and they agreed that it was not in line with PetSmart's standards. Melissa's response was that they refused service because PetSmart cannot meet my standards. I simply asked to receive the service that was advertised and received such a negative response because I provided some feedback. It makes me wonder how many people she has banned from daycare. Either way I wanted to share my review and experience and I hope that PetSmart rectifies this and does better in the future. read more

Avoid this location! I have been taking my dog to the doggie daycamp and she ingested a cannabis product there. When PetSmart called me to inform me that she was taken to Emergency, the associate I spoke to was very vague and had absolutely no information for me as to her condition, the name of the Emergency clinic and instructions for me to get my dog. I was placed on hold multiple times and each time she returned, she had incomplete information. The staff and store manager did nothing to answer my questions on how this happened and why they kept giving me incomplete information. Their immediate concern was to inform me that PetSmart was not liable and denied that she ingested anything there. I visited the store the next day to try and gain some answers about the incident, and again the pet hotel manager's main concern was to inform me that PetSmart was not liable. Not once did she ask about the health of my puppy or if she even survived the incident. All managers at the store consistently hid behind the liability waiver, despite the vet report that the substance was most likely ingested an hour before she began showing symptoms at the daycamp. I am very relieved that my puppy survived, but given PetSmart's negligence and the ambivalence of the associates and store manager, Erik Eide, I will not be trusting PetSmart with my dog's care ever again. read more

I brought my dog in for a grooming in January of this year and was given a 15% off coupon to use for my next visit. Problem was my dog didn't need to be groomed again until April and they did not tell me that my coupon would expire in February. When I went to use it they would not allow it even though they knew the coupons would be expiring that early when they received them they said nothing to me when I was there. Nick and I just got back from Winston's intermediate graduation at PetSmart. As soon as we left, exchanging phone numbers with Nikita's pet-parents and saying goodbye to Tanya our trainer, we were already talking about his next class. We are considering the click-a-trick class, and would choose Tanya as the trainer, as she is excellent. I was wary of the store at first, wanting only the best for my dog. However, the 6 weeks of training just flew by and I do feel like he got the best. Not only is Winston no longer a one-trick pony (literally - he looks like a small pony), but I am much more confident in handling him. We also found a great spot to go to on rainy days when the dog park is just not an option. The staff at PetSmart is always very happy and they are great with the puppies. Winston is now a regular at the PetsHotel and the Doggie DayCamp, where we bring him when we go on short trips. read more

I've been using the PetsHotel part of PetSmart on Innes for a while and I seem to have a different problem each time. If you care about how your dog is treated there then you have to say something but they pass it off as "I wasn't the one to check him in, or I wasn't the one who set up the room, or I haven't been back there so I don't know... you have to talk to "..... " . I've a dog that doesn't travel well (anxiety) AND doesn't board well without HIS stuff and some attention to the care requests. I did get a tour once and was appalled at how some of the dogs were being kept. They say they provide a bed (some just a thin towel ) to lie on directly on concrete, and some large dogs in small kennels.. Constant barking and of course no outdoor walks. I provide him his own bedding and protection from the concrete so he doesn't get arthritis from lying outside his bed AND toys AND food AND treats as he is fussy eater. Each time there is something wrong and he comes back either dehydrated, sick , or with inflamed eyes even for only one night stay... And as I find the best way to avoid these (use his bowls, provide a little doggy tent, etc,) they find a way to change it the next time so you're not sure of the care he is actually getting. 1- too many different people handle your requests AND don't really seem to care about the instructions you give them to help make your pet's stay more pleasant ... the response is "we have over 100 dogs here"... So what's the point of trying to make your pet comfortable? and set your mind at ease?? 2- the arrogance of some employees who simploy don't listen to what you are saying BUT insist on you listening to their justifications for why they are talking about something that is not the services you're booking for your dog (marketing other services couching that what you want are "extra"costs which really aren't to sell you get grooming or day camp even when you already told them your dog only wants 1/2 hour group play NOT day camp). 3- standard procedures to only follow what they write down and not accept pre-written instructions from the pet owner - we have to rely on their notes 4- inability for pet owners to see the conditions your dog will be set up with. .. their safety policies. I suppose for toughened dogs, outdoor dogs, or dogs that like to be in the hustle and bustle of other dogs all the time the minimal care given at PetSmart Hotel is adequate...but is not my first choice ... not for my current dog and I'm looking for a good care facility or home that will help me make it a pleasant experience for my family's best friend. read more

Although being a large company, in my mind means they should be a little more organized. When I took my dog the to get groomed, they skipped important things like cutting his nails, Shaving his pads, and putting in scented conditioner properly. I definitely will not be going back. read more

I took my 14 month old mini schnauzer to PetSmart (Innes Rd, Ottawa) on Feb. 26th. He's been sick ever since. It was the first time I've ever used a doggie daycare or kennel with any of my dogs. The people at the counter were nice enough. When I came back to pick up my dog however, I discovered that he'd not eaten anything (even the bacon treats he's crazy about) or done any potty business from the time I dropped him off at around 2:30 pm until when I picked him up at roughly 8 pm. Now this was his first time so I understand that maybe he was freaked out. Fair enough. However, soon afterwards he started sniffling and sneezing which has been getting worse and worse. Called the vet and looks like he has kennel cough or possibly the flu. If it doesn't get better within a week, we'll have to put him on medication. It should be noted that my dog is not neutered yet so he had a private room. I'm very disappointed that our first experience at Petsmart's doggie daycare let to a sick dog. PetSmart has not responded to my concerns or taken steps to resolve matters. I will not be using PetSmart's kennel or daycare services again. read more

I visited a petsmart on Innes road in Orleans and saw a skinny pig that was in terrible condition! His eyes were crusted over and he clearly had ringworm. I told an employee about this and she seemed like she didn't care. I returned to the same store a few hours later and he was still in the tank for sale. I then talked to a manager and they took him and his friend to the back. Which either means he will be looked at or just left for dead seeing as they didn't seem to care at all. These conditions do not just appear over night therefore he was in the tank in these bad conditions for at least a week. Selling small animals is absolutely disgusting and the breeding practices you use are abusive and neglectful. This is why I keep seeing these poor animals in terrible conditions in your stores. You should be ashamed of yourself taking advantage of these little creatures for profit and not caring about their well being. There are so many guinea pigs out there and breeding them is disgusting! Taking care of your pets is the least you can do! I will never shop at your locations again! Me and my 7 guinea pigs will get hay and pellets at pet value where they don't sell living creatures! Worst experience ever at their pet grooming! On June 29, 2017, I went with my dog to the PetSmart on 1750 Innes Rd, Gloucester/Ottawa, ON. His nails were not evenly cut which I only discovered after I had him back in the car. Some nails were still long, while others totally short. During the grooming, my dog, a Beauceron fell from the table, hanging on the short leash they had tied him on and gasped for air. . On top of that, the groomer bent his front paws in a very brutal way to work his nails. My dog is very old and has arthritis and it hurt him, he was whining and jauling. . Then they brought him to the backroom to bathe him. After a minute I heard him barking in distress and asked what is going on (he usually likes to be bathed). I was told he is in the kennel and doesn't like that. WHAT??? in a kennel??? He is much too large for a kennel. Plus I did pay for bathing and grooming - not for traumatizing him. He never in his whole life was in a kennel! It turned out they did this, so that the staff could go for lunch break. . Half an hour later, they were bathing the dog, then I heard him barking again in distress - their only staff came to the front to work there which meant my dog was caged again... . I have had enough and asked to give me the bill and immediately the dog. Their answer: he is not yet dry... What? He was bathed half an hour ago, and they did not dry him immediatly? I took my still-wet dog and left the store. . The cashier hadn't heard or seen their advertisement that stated 20% discount to seniors - it needed some insisting to get this discount offer. read more

Milo and I regularly visit the Pet Salon at this store location, and the team in the Grooming Salon always take good care of my pup. Danielle is a great groomer that usually takes care of us - though I can say that the entire team has been great whenever we've been in! No question ...
