I called to enroll in the classes, but found that online was the preferred method. I went online and signed up, put in payment info, now what? A few emails later I saw where I needed to watch a couple of videos in order to get into the training. Okay, done.. I waited for instructions as the class time was quickly approaching. Nothing.. training day arrived, I found my way to Gigi's. Pretty impressive facility, multiple buildings, and multiple parking areas. I will admit it was a bit confusing. Luckily someone from the neighboring building came out and explained where to go. We got situated in the class and made it through. Positive reinforcement training is the preferred method, and the tips and information provided by Rebecca is top notch! My only reason for not going 5 stars here is that the signup portion of this experience was lacking a bit in my opinion. I'm old school, I like to speak with someone, get a name and a face. Working strictly online feels cold and impersonal to me. The classes most definitely make up for it as my dog and I do get lots of personal attention during class sessions!

We adopted our dog from ASPCA recovery center and she had quite a few behavioral issues. She was…read morenippy, barking and jumping a lot which actually scared me since we have little kids. After working with Alex, we realized that her biggest issue was that she was "over-excited". Alex recommended her to be on anxiety medication which we found was VERY helpful and needed. He also explained to us how to monitor her levels of excitement by using commands and waiting for her to calm down before she became jumpy, nippy and barking. We also realized that we needed to use a muzzle when new people came in and around our 2 year old to make sure she's not nippy with them. All this and the commands gave us huge relief. We had 4 sessions with Alex and have had her for 3 months and we feel so much better. We definitely recommend Alex. He knows what he's doing and he's so kind with the dogs.

In less than a month with Alex, we have learned so much, and have come such a long way. We learned multiple commands, walking on a head collar (simply because that was the safest choice for us). Most importantly in my opinion, we've learned how to keep our dog safe, others safe, and how to help her interact properly with other dogs and people. We still have a lot of work to do, but with Alex's guidance we are confident in our ability to be successful. Alex is INCREDIBLE with our dog, but more than that, he has helped us humans learn what to do, too. He's been so supportive of us! Every trainer was so knowledgeable and patient. They made sure that we knew why they were training in certain ways and also made sure that we we knew how to train our pup as well. Even though they have a learning schedule for the 5-week program, they were flexible and allowed us to focus on training our pup needed the most. The price is a bit steep, but the collar is included with the price. We thought this was a worthwhile investment and are considering training our other puppy here too.

My GSP is now a reliable trail and beach dog who responds to a code word ("Come" no longer worked when we met Elissa.) and/or whistle. Elissa worked with us 4-5 times, but mostly she gave me the understanding, skills and followup exercises to work with my dog myself. She explained behavior theory behind the exercises, showed me how to properly carry them out. She followed each training session with detailed notes and other resources. Success wasn't instant, but steady. With Elissa's help, I have a trustworthy companion whom I feel comfortable letting off leash.
