We came and sat on the patio during a live music Friday. The musician was great, and it was a beautiful night to sit outside. It was Harry Potter's birthday and the specials menu was on point. The butterbeer latte was not too sweet, which was perfect. For dinner I had the chipotle turkey sandwich, it was juicy and delicious, with chips. read more

Not impressed - placed order at counter and went outside to wait since the lobby was freezing cold. I had walked a few steps away into the sunshine and realized they had called my name. I immediately went in and overheard the young lady saying "I just don't think Sheri is that hungry" to which I said I was just very cold inside. The only open table was across the walkway so my daughter and I sat there for less than 5 minutes when a staff person came over and said we were too far away so we needed to dump our food off our plates into a to- go container. Terrible service and my popover was burned - americano had no flavor; iced chai very watery- all around bad experience and would not go back. read more

My daughters treated me to dinner on my birthday. We started with cocktails and a 1/2 dozen popovers w/ maple butter. These popovers are huge! And, delicious! We had sandwiches for dinner. I can't remember which ones, but I do remember they were good. We shared a piece of fancy cheesecake that was yummy. We'll be back. read more

I had a beautiful salad with no flavor. The toasted butternut squash was probably frozen. There were two bites of goat cheese and the salad was not dressed. The popover arrived cold and stale. The service was great, but the food was not good. read more

We went with friends who recommended it. The food was good and there was a wide selection. The waitress was friendly, always on the move, but appeared at the right times. She got a good tip. Overall, the place was hopping and noisy, but not too loud. read more

We both had their turkey club sandwiches. There was a good amount of meat in each of the sandwiches and they were tasty. I got the house chips with mine and my friend got potato wedges. The wedges were a bit on the burnt side. Our server was friendly. We ate here prior to a movie that was in the same lot. They had some tasty looking cocktail drinks but we just stuck with water today. read more

We dinned out at Popovers a week earlier, and had a great meal, but when we decided to go again our experience was completely different. We did get seated fairly quickly, but after that our service was horrible, our food came out but delivered by another waitress, my wife wanted some more salad dressing but had no idea where our waitress was, My wife flagged down another waitress and she gave her some more salad dressing probably 15 min. later, another waitress came by, and we asked her if she knew where our waitress was, she told us, our waitress was in the back eating, Another waitress gave us our bill, and noticed I was charged the wrong price, I ordered a small salad and received a small salad but charged for a large salad, they gave us a military discount but still had to pay for the difference between a small and large salad, only saw the waitress when she took our bill, will not go back, Beware. read more

While the food is tasty, and the service is always great, cafe-like ambiance, I find their food items overpriced. They also charge you individually for drinks ($4.50 each). While I understand these are tough times, it's not common US practice and they should inform you that lemonade does not have free refills. It's tough for me to recommend this place because of the prices, but their popovers are delicious. read more

Nicole ( bartender) is excellent and very soft spoken but very nice personality. I've expressed my feelings before and she's very consistent. The food is very good and desserts are fantastic. Need to try it. I'm sure you will enjoy it read more

I only do reviews when I'm very pleased or very disappointed. I find no joy in writing a bad review. The service was wonderful, the food was not. I had a "Caesar Salad" that was not a salad but a bowl of Romain lettuce and was THE WORST I've ever had. The little "parmesan cheese" on the salad was more cellulose flakes than cheese. The chowder tasted like it came from a can and the "popover" was nothing more than glorified WONDER BREAD. I'm really easy going but this food was SO BLAND that I didn't get a box to take leftovers home. SO SO DISAPPOINTED! read more

Warning the roast beef sandwich is not real roast beef! It came half burned and half raw. We used to love this restaurant. The last time we went there in early July our server spent the time after taking our order chatting with other servers. Our food came before our drinks. And with a few chips thrown on our plates. No free refills on drinks. Has gone way down since Jason left. read more

Decent food and service however the portions are very small. I had the quiche. It came with a small bowl of fruit and a mini popover. It was a super small piece of quiche and the popover was gone in 3 bites. Not a good value for $9.99 read more

The food is very good, however, the restaurant was uncomfortably cold. People were putting jackets on and some actually went to their cars to get jackets. The servers said they were helpless to do anything about it. Come on people, pay attention to the comfort of your customers. Thank you. read more

This place is an overpriced joke! I completely understand that COVID has made it really hard for places to come up with new rules and seating but.... $50 for this and you have to find a menu, seat yourself then go to the counter and order your meals, pay for it right then and there. And someone brings it your table.. if you want another drink what do you do?! Who do you ask?? And you have to clean up your own plates and no one even comes to wipe down the tables?!? (We noticed this with other people getting up and leaving and someone else would sit down and didn't know the table was dirty, like us.. we thought it was already cleaned??) They should at least leave cleaning spray on the table?! Food was good, nothing outstanding read more

Nice sandwiches and the service was excellent. Desserts were a satisfying treat. Will stop again!

Popovers was so terrific and helpful in creating a Trolls birthday cake for my daughter - she loved it and it was not only beautiful but delicious too. I did not have a ton of ideas or clear "vision" and Pam helped come up with a great plan for this cake. We did the convenient pickup at Galley Hatch. Highly recommend! read more

I came to this restaurant with my husband and mom. I had the egg and cheese sandwich with bacon, which was pretty good -- the roll was fresh and light. My husband had the grilled cheese, and my mom had the cranberry turkey in popover. We all enjoyed the food (except we found the single popover was just mediocre), and the menu definitely has something for everyone. The food wasn't amazing to us, but it was pretty OK (we ate all of it but the single popover), and the restaurant was comfortable and service good. I'm not sure I'd run back, but if I needed to meet a bunch of folks with different tastes in food, it would be a safe choice. read more

I really don't understand the allure of this restaurant. I can't understand why people will pay such high prices for meager food. The portion sizes are very small vs. the price..... I am not cheep with restaurants but I also need to feel that the costs are justified by the quality of the food..... The location is very convenient but other than a place to grab a bite before a movie this is not my top choice in the area. read more

My wife and I stopped in after a movie. It was my first time at Popovers. What a great experience. Our server Heather did a great job, she was very friendly and just attentive enough. Not too much or too little. I normally won't order something that I make at home from a menu. Usually it is a great disappointment. I however decided on the Jambalaya. I would say that it was pretty close to what I make at home. What a great surprise. I also decided to try a popover at my wife's suggestion, another great surprise. My wife also enjoyed her chowder and chicken sandwich. We each ordered a cocktail which was better than expected. When in the Epping, NH area, make it a point to stop in, I don't think that you'll be disappointed. read more

Came to Popovers for our wedding anniversary specifically due to seeing this post. Popovers was out of popovers. Huh??? We were dining early on a Saturday night. It wasn't even that crowded. First we were told that they were in the oven and that we might or might not get one as an appetizer. An hour later when we asked again we were told that the reason was due to an employee leaving yesterday. We never did get the popover that we ordered as an appetizer NOR the one that we wanted for dessert. The waitress was very unsympathetic. Guess we won't be back. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED read more

I usually dine here a few times a year. It is a good place to dine if you don't know exactly what to eat. Menu has Panera like options along with some regular dinner and breakfast options. With exception of fries, everything is good on the menu and never had an issue. Probably the only thing inconsistent is the service. Half the time service is average and other times not so great. Not to a point where you will not return but it will prevent you from going there more frequently. Usually there is always a table available even on weekends so it's a good place to stop if you do not like to wait. read more

We have found here (Epping location), reliable-quality food, good but limited options (and certainly less than they had in years past, as they've taken away some of their best former options) and way-too high of prices for the tiny amounts of food per serving. Years ago, they'd present you with a basket of mini popovers with maple butter, for free, upon being seated. Now, nothing! No popovers for you! If you want to *order* the same thing now, it's $8.75! Nice atmosphere, always clean bathrooms, comfy booths. Our servers have always been kind and very attentive! They've always been willing to work with G.F. and other allergy concerns. Family loves their G.F. and other pastries! read more

Since opening this location has seen many changes. The first thing you see on the door is that they quit serving at 4 pm so that their staff can spend the afternoon with their families. As a business owner I respect this value but perhaps messaging this in a different manner and not right on the front door. As a guest, it made me feel like I was not valued and not all that welcomed. This time we chose the outside seating which was much more comfortable than the inside high tops. The hostess was unfriendly and we did not feel welcomed at all. Perhaps she does not like to work on a Sunday? Again, does the sign reflect a troubled work culture? Our server was fine but not that personable. She did her job. We received our drinks in a timely fashion and ordered our meals. As I watched servers, hostesses, and manager working, no one seemed to be smiling. They seemed to be hustling around fine. The first thing I was surprised about is that we did not receive a popover as we always had previously. Out meals arrived and I had the vegetable quiche entree with clam chowder. My friend has a panini with fruit. The quiche was a small serving for an entree and very thin. There were plenty of veggies, the custard proportion was too small for the amount of veggies (needed to be thicker), and the crust was flaky. The serving was warm but unfortunately way too salty. It should be the star of the dish but wasn't. I was surprised to receive a crock versus a cup of chowder. There was a lot of clams and it was meaty and tender. Again, the chef was heavy handed with salt. I would order the chowder again but not the quiche as it did not wow me. My friend's meal was good and she would order again. She was hoping for more vegan options but was satisfied but not wowed. We did each order the mousse bomb. It was served right from the refrigerator case. A dollop of whipped would have improved the plating. Unfortunately, the mouser was hard so not a true mousse experience. I took half home and ate it at room temperature with a little whipped cream. Much tastier. We both agreed we won't be rushing back but would give this location another chance at some point. read more

My family and I have enjoyed the food and service at Popovers dozens of times since its opening. Not only the wait-staff, but also the management are friendly and kind. In our opinions, it's the best restaurant experience in Epping and for miles outside that town. Not only the food, but also the drinks, are well above average. It's often crowded, but that's to be expected given its reputation. Frank G. read more

We had an excellent time!!! Everyone was happy with there food and drinks! Our waitress was awesome!!!

My favorite breakfast treat. My girlfriend is gluten free and this is one of our favorite spots for breakfast/brunch. The service is always top notch, we often run into a waitress who also has celiacs and always makes us feel comfortable that our dishes will be gluten free. The popovers, both regular and gluten-free, are always delicious, especially served with seasonal butter. Our favorite snack is the warm feta dip, followed by the Buffalo chicken dip read more

Great salad and awesome popovers!called in order and was ready on time . Very pleasant pick up ! We will be back

Love me some popovers! This place never fails. You can even find some delicious desserts.

I am a big fan of both the restaurant chain AND this specific location. First, I love Popovers in general for the plethora of gluten-free food options. Their menu is very clear on which items have GF alternatives AND they have real GF bread alternatives beyond just having GF sliced bread. Second, I love this particular location because their staff is attentive and nice about allergy requests and just plain friendly all around! The physical location is perfect for a "dinner and movie" date night (keep it in mind for post-COVID). It's located in an outdoor strip mall next to the theater and has a few other shops around to fill any extra time in between you may have. Parking is free, and they have good patio seating available if you prefer outdoor dining. COVID safety rules are good and enforced, so this is still a good place to keep on your "to visit" list! read more

Just moved here from the west coast and let me tell you about taste, and ambiance. We have found it difficult to find a place that contains both. Popovers not only gives you that but the service was tremendous. I went to get a cheesecake to celebrate my wife's birthday and they were very accommodating. The manager at the bakery was brilliant with his suggestions and he was very nice. He actually smiled and talked to me, while the young girl serving me provided conversation to make me feel at ease for once here in the east coast. Loved their salads, but their bakery made me feel like being back in Southern California, very modern, very worth returning. I loved it! read more

Just finished another delightful lunch at Popovers. Our waitress Diana was delightful in spite of the 3 tables of large numbers she had to care for. Fall holiday weekends in NH are busy. My 2/2 Ruben and soup combo was tasty. The buffalo cauliflower appetizer was just spicy enough. And of course their desserts were outstanding. It's a redo favorite. Visited again today 3/3 and again was very pleased with the seating arrangements, service, and of course the food, in the middle of the COVID-19 era, they have made it safe to come here especially the outside seating. Want to thank Kate our server, who was professional, do you light full and kept us safe. I would highly recommend this restaurant. I truly love their soup and half Sandwich or salad combo. Perfect for lunch! Matthew the manager always has a smile on his face and aims to please. read more

This is a great little spot for a meal! The service was quick and friendly, and the server had her mask on the entire time which I really appreciated. The food was actually really delicious, and came out fast and warm. I got the vegetable bowl, and it was really well-made and super delicious. My husband got half Turkey Panini half soup, and really enjoyed that as well. They also have a ton of really great dessert options. If you're looking for a place to stop in for a meal, I would highly recommend. read more

And yet again their staff has turned over. Jason, the manager left abruptly and the new manager is not nearly as personable and can't seem to get the staff running smoothly. The last time we were there service was horrible. It took three waitstaff and the manager to get the food right and even then it wasn't right. The waiter never came back once after taking our order. Not sure where Jason went because he was the best. He had a nice quiet effective demeanor. The new manager appears to be very hyper. It's like she is trying to look very much in charge and busy busy busy but nothing is really getting done. read more

The problem with take out is that by the time you see what you have brought home, it's too much trouble to take it back. The salad was full of watery, wilted lettuce, as if it had all been made this morning. I would have sent it back if I was dining in. Come on Popovers! Either serve a fresh salad or take it off the menu. WB read more

I've been to the Epping Popovers several times since moving to the area in December. I haven't had a bad meal yet. I mostly like seasonal salads and entrees. Service has been good. Great food every time! Fresh baked bread and the desserts are magic! Highly recommended

There's nothing quite like a warm popover with maple butter!! If you've never tried one, you need to drop what you're doing and go, right now! This is one of two locations I've visited and it's probably my favorite because while it's busy, it's not overly crowded like the Portsmouth location. Portions are small and can be pricey, but it's worth it for the popovers. read more
