They are very kind and helpful here I absolutely love it! There are two other PetSmarts closer to my house but I always come here because of the service. The customers are always good about keeping there dogs on leashes and watching them too not like at other locations. Very clean and good atmosphere! read more

HORRIBLE experience with the grooming department...if I can even call it an experience. My wife and I had an important medical appointment scheduled for a certain time, so logistically we scheduled my pet's bath appointment with Alexis to align so we can drop our dog off and head to the appointment and come back to pick her up on time. I accidentally drove to the Downey location because we left in a rush and we called and spoke with Alexis the groomer in Compton to let him know what happened and he said we had a 15 minute grace period and that it was fine and not to worry. We raced over to Compton and got there and inside in 14 minutes only to be turned away at the grooming counter because they cancelled our appointment without notifying me even though we literally had just called. Alexis and the receptionist in the grooming department had the absolute WORST most snarky attitudes I've ever witnessed and they said they wouldn't have time to groom my dog and sent us on our way with a sarcastic "bye have a good day" and a eye roll. All my dog was getting was a bath and brush how to would you not have time to do that?! Why would you tell someone it's okay to come due to a 15 min grace period and then lie and say that we got there after 25 minutes when we got there and immediately showed you the time and explained the situation?? Clearly we were there on time because we were explaining to the receptionist that we just spoke with Alexis and that he said it was okay and we showed her the time on our phones screen and when they asked her she lied and said that we were 25 minutes late. She sat there and took forever to find our name in the database moving at a snails pace looking completely mentally checked out for the day when she should've spoken to Alexis from the jump to avoid further delay and confusion. I'm not one to cause trouble at someone's place of work so we just left with our dog highly disappointed and disgusted at their attitudes with everything. We had to cancel our medical appointment and pay a large over $150 fee to cancel it all because of the shitty customer service in this location. Never again booking an appointment here and I know the company could give a shit about it but just wanted to let everyone know what they're in for if they decide to choose this location and that groomer in particular. read more

This is the worse PetSmart store ever!!! I have ordered things online from there numerous times and not once have they ever gotten my order right. They'll cancel items saying it's "out of stock" and when we go they are fully stock of the item they cancelled on me. They always forget to give us one item of multiple things I get. I should've looked at the reviews before I came to this Location for grooming. They wouldn't accept the information I provided with regards to my dogs vaccine which was from my vet and they wanted more specific detailed information like a certificate instead of what I had it was providing to them. They made me wait for 20+ minutes, gave me an attitude, was very unprofessional didn't even offer me what services they had obviously I was there for grooming. The guy behind the counter was extremely rude and later told me that he didn't want to help me naturally you can imagine my response after waiting for over 20 minutes. I do not recommend you use them I even watch them while they were grooming another dog they do a half assed job it doesn't seem like they're trained properly. Dear PetSmart: You could really improve your CS skill set. I went there today with a friend who forgot her dogs' shot papers for grooming appointments @ 3:00 pm and Maria told her she had 15 minutes to return if she wanted to keep the appointment. She lived about 10" away and called back when she was on her way back to the store, dogs in the car. I did observe that there was a customer who was very dissatisfied with the way her situation was being handled on the floor also. Maria stated at least 10 times that we had 25 minutes to return. It wasn't necessary for her to continue to state that. The rule of thumb is, if you say something more than once, it's nagging. Please speak to your employees about the way they address customers. Two incidents within a 10-minute timeframe signals that there are issues with Customer Service at this store. Update: After getting the dogs back in the house, my friend called and spoke with a manager who offered her a 4:00 pm appt. Of course she couldn't do it because that would have meant rounding the dogs up, putting them on leashes, getting them back in the car and driving back in Sunday traffic. Why couldn't Maria have offered her the 4:00 pm slot in the first place? Needless to say, she won't be taking her dogs back there. read more

The staff here are absolutely AMAZING! Every time I bring my dog to the groomers she comes back looking amazing! She's been groomed by Richard and Bria. Bria is very patient. I brought my dog in and had a vision of how I wanted her to be cut but wasn't sure how. Bria explained my options and made recommendations based on my vision. Pet Smart in Compton CA, Grooming Department, I took my 10 year old teacup Yorky in for a bath and haircut and when I was called to pick him up I was advised that he got hair in his eye and they had tried to flush it out. When I picked him up his eye was completely swollen and shut. I was told it happened when he was getting groomed but later found out in the report the groomer said it happened when he was in the kennel. I was set home with eye wash solution to continue flushing out his eyes and this did not work. The next morning he had discharge coming out of his eye and he could not open his eye. I had to take him to the vet and he was then prescribed antibiotics. When I called the store to file a report I was told they would not cover his vet bill and that they were sorry. When I took my dog in for his appointment, he was perfectly fine. Nothing was wrong with either of his eyes until after the grooming appointment. I will never take any of my fur pets to any Pet Smart to be groomed. read more

Usually not a fan of huge company pet stores but this one surprised me. I work at a pet store so I tend to have high expectations for other ones. First, walking in everything is in order... Store is clean & everyone greeted me. Shocking right? Second, they were very attentive of me & my dog & helped me with the few questions I had. Downfall... No surprise that the only "holistic" foods that they carry are instinct & blue buffalo. Took my dogs in to get groomed and they were trying to up charge me almost $30 extra each dog because they had two knots on their ears.. I've never been charged that much extra because they had 2 knots on them. Ridiculous. The woman wasn't being gentle with one of my other dogs and he is already scared so I had a bad feeling right away. The man was gentle with my other dog. read more

Me and my fiancé go to this petsmart for our dogs needs all the time, it's clean, and the staff is informative and have dogs of their own so they give us tips all the time. Eli is great ! She is always helping us out and gives great dog advice, and the managers there are also reasonable for sure if we ever have a problem with our dogs food or with the groomers. The best thing though about this store is the friendliness of the staff because it makes it a nice experience to go and shop! read more

Ok so the only reason why I'm rating this two stars instead of one is because Cynthia was very nice initially... ok now that that's out of the way.. had to drive 20 minutes to arrive, my appointment was @2:30 & I didn't get helped till about 2:50. They kept trying to upsale me other services I did not ask for about 10 minutes. My dog finally went in around 3. She tells me he should be ready within an hr. At 3:57 I get a voicemail saying my dog was being aggressive & biting & that they wouldn't be able to service him today & that I had to come & pick him up ASAP. Apparently they had my three month old Doberman puppy inside a dark kennel for about an hour in a room full of stressed worried & barking dogs... no shit he's gonna wanna defend himself after being in that stressful situation. As soon as I picked up my dog he was insanely & incredibly stoked to see me. As soon as I took him out the kennel he peed on me, he must of been terrified. No aggression towards me or her once I arrived, he listened to my command & sat as soon as I put him down. Conclusion of this review; they don't have a clue in handling guard dogs don't waste your time & take your dog to a professional grooming place :). Btw he didn't bite her, she just said that on the phone apparently I asked her as soon as I walked in the door if she was ok; she replied "oh I'm ok he didn't really bite me he was just growling & barking at me" also mi d you his a puppy which means he's prone to illnesses & disease, he was put in a dirty kennel where more then one dog had been in I know this because he had fair from multiple colors & sizes all over his face & body... Happy Tails is classy, CLEAN, in a NICE NEIGHBORHOOD and the dedicated groomers are extremely professional and have a genuine love for dogs. Now back to this dirty, unprofessional, seedy location Petsmart: First, make sure you lock your doors, turn your alarm on and look around when parking and entering. I decided to stop by after a morning of running errands. My normal groomer was booked and this place is right of the freeway. Once inside you will find that the hourly employees here are not held to any standards of business appearance. Ironically the people who are supposed to groom your dogs look unkempt. They are more concerned with chatting among each other than greeting you upon walking in. And they are incompetent when it comes to collecting information about your grooming services for the day & good luck if you get one who is capable of articulating. Bottom line: save your money and go to a PROFESSIONAL grooming spa or salon. Not a chain store that hires any old body looking for an hourly wage. read more

This Petsmart location is by far my favorite. Customer service is great from the moment you walk through the door. I signed my 8 month old puppy, Benjamin, (then 6 months old) to take the beginner and intermediate dog training classes as soon as the training orientation ended. Felicia has such a wonderful personality along with a wealth of knowledge and suggestions. Felicia has always welcomed my questions and listened to concerns. It doesn't hurt that Benjamin gets so excited every time he sees her. She has definitely made the transition of adding Benjamin to our family an easier one. I am already planning on signing up for the advanced class. I also take Benjamin to see Bria in the grooming center. Bria made sure I knew beforehand what to expect from his first grooming experience. Well when I went to pick him up, he looked and smelled amazing. More importantly, he was happy and not traumatized. Not only is this store so close to my house but the staff here is great. Every time i visit this store to buy my puppy treats and toys I get the help I need and I learn a few extra things about how to train my dog. Therefore, I decided to take my puppy in for some training classes. I'm in my 3rd week and all I can say is how impressed I am. Felicia is my dog trainer and let me just say how PHENOMENAL she is at what she does. The love she has for animals is what makes her do such a great job. She's definitely an expert. read more

I will never return to this PetSmart again! Let's start off with the beginning of my pets grooming. The guy that checked us in was nice. Even came out to get to know Eevaa (my yorkie). When he went ahead and told the groomer Patty that Eevaa was in for her, Patty rolled her eyes and went ahead and made a patting noise. Now, I don't work at a store or anything, but I sure as hell know that a rule about customer service is to never show that you're frustrated, specially towards the customer. I ignored it and went about my day. My wife later on went to pick her up. Before going into the grooming section, my wife sees Patty manhandling. She is grabbing and pulling her legs excessively without any remorse, to a point where my wife started recording it. The first thing my wife was told as soon as she steps in was "never bring your dog to a PetSmart again. She was a big hassle". Mind you, my dog has never been to any other groomer company besides PetSmarts, and no one has EVER had an issue with her. Everyone always compliments about how she behaves so well. When I get home I see a bald spot right on her side and her facial hair is extremely uneven. I will not be returning to this PetSmart. I prefer to drive further but know that my dog is being taken care of and not being dragged around like a rag doll. read more

I had an apt that I schedule 2 weeks ago in the grooming Dept tor my dog. Today was my apt at 9am. I walked in and Veronica ( manager) advised that I was more than 15 late and probably wouldn't be able to take me. She then walked to the back to check with the groomer ( Cynthia) who came out, looked at the computer, and immediately/ rudely said she wouldn't be able to take my dog because i was late. I asked if anyone else would be available and she advised that they were all booked and no one could take me. I had expressed that they always take 2-3 hours with this dogs so for that, if I eliminated my services and just hit a wash, would she take my dog. She refused. She then went to say she took another dog in place of mine because I was late, which was a lie when I was only less than 5 min from 15 to my grace period. Cynthia was rude and was not willing to accommodate or work with getting my dog in. Guillermo happen to be in the room listening to the whole conversation, went to another computer and then quickly said "I have time and I can assist you with your dogs grooming". I couldn't understand, why the manager ( Veronica) left the situation and passed it along to (Cynthia) who had no good customer service at all. Cynthia approach definitely came off as she didn't want to be bothered and took the opportunity to not have to due to me being 15 - 20 min late. Veronica or Cynthia didn't try to even ask the other associates if they were available and had time to work on my dog. I feel Guillermo should be theb manager running that Dept because he took action, providing good customer service. Both Cynthia and Veronica need additional training. I will never select or refer them to groom my or anyone else dog. read more

Love this store. They have the total package. Fantastic groomers, knowledgeable staff, and excellent customer service. Only downside is the size. With limited space it's sometimes hard to get every little thing you need like filter pads, but they keep the store looking and smelling fresh. I love the special events like pictures with Santa and the clearance prices. That reminds me to come in for more treats! read more
