I've taken my dog here for Day Care the last week or so, and the staff have been very nice! We tried solo camp since she's older but I think she prefers the group. Obviously time will really tell, and accidents could happen but I'm being hopeful here! Rover could be tough with finding reliable sitters. The store is well stocked and conveniently located. One of the workers with an undercut told us that we were not allowed to buy a fish and keep it in a fishbowl... So why do they sell fish bowls then? Apparently we had to keep it in a 3 gallon OD tank with a heater otherwise they would die. they are kept in plastic containers on the shelf, but they aren't allowed to be in a fish bowl? We have been taking our two dogs to petsmart for grooming for 10 years now. The manager Brooke is fantastic and her dedication to her customers and their dogs is evident. We have always had great experiences there- our shih-tzu and shih-poo consistently look wonderful after their grooming. One of our dogs has anxiety and they have treated him with love and care. We especially love Kenzie- she goes above and beyond to make sure our dogs are comfortable and look super handsome. read more

We came to Boulder for couple of weeks to ski. We brought our puppy S'More with us and use pet smart for daycare during day while we were skiing. ALL the people at pet-care were very accommodating to us and spoiled S'smore every time he came to play. Every morning our s'more was pulling all the way through the store to go to day care and could not run fast enough. We definitely will use day care (pup care) on our next visit. After taking my pooches here for a long time for their grooming needs. I began to notice they weren't keeping the place as clean as they use to and were sometimes cutting corners by skipping steps and not doing some of the add ons that I paid extra for. When I brought it to Neil's attention he just denied it and offered no resolution he wouldn't even re do the service. I pay way too much money for this to be dealing with such unprofessional customer service. I will have to find somewhere else to go. I gave 2 stars because when they did do a good job it was great. But unfortunately I feel like they are overworked and overbooked to the point that they are unable to any longer provide the quality service that they advertise and it's just not worth it anymore. read more

I put my dog in 6 weeks worth of training lessons with their new trainer Leslie Dunn. Not only did my dog absolutely love her, but I found her to be extremely easy to talk to and work with. She has a super friendly and positive attitude and improved my dogs behavior seven fold. She will give you tips and help that goes beyond the the curriculum of the class when needed and always checks in with you. You can tell she really cares about your dog progressing and was always extremely encouraging. I look forward to putting my dog in an intermediate class. There are three PetSmarts at about equal distances from my house, so before the pandemic I picked which of them go to depending on my other errands. This one is similar to the other two, although slightly larger, and the associates have been more helpful here. Due to the pandemic I've tried the "scheduled delivery" feature. For a $5 fee they will deliver in-stock items from a local store to your home, during a time-window of your choosing. I've done it twice from this store, with mixed results. In both cases my order was correct. The first time the delivery was promised for the afternoon of the same day, but didn't arrive until two days later. The second time was perfect: promised for the same afternoon, and delivered at the beginning of the window. Yay! read more

This rating is for the doggie daycare. I was in town for a 3 day training and wanted to bring my puppy with me. From the phone inquiry to my final pick up day service was great. My fur baby was a little out of it on the first day. I arrived to them holding him. He was his normal self day 2 and seemed to have enjoyed his time there. Being from Oakland, CA and having to pay an arm and a leg for daycare I appreciated quality doggie care that included food, walks, and human play time for the one low fee. Tyler the puppy trainer at Boulder Petsmart is awesome. However, I'm giving a 1 because of a company policy change. Tyler and I used to be able to text to set up my appointments and makeups, but now the company has said no to texting on Tyler's official work cell, so I have to call in to the general phone line, wait on hold for awhile, then leave Tyler a message (poor cashier trying to deal with all of this too), and then wait for Tyler to call me or play phone tag until we reach other by phone. This is a horrible waste of Tyler's time, the cashier at Petsmart's time and my time, when texting on Tyler's work cell phone was a perfectly efficient option. read more

The Store is nice, really close to home so I use this store for everything for my pets, my dog is enrolled in their hospital plan and we use their grooming service. Is the grooming service the one that has the problem, for several issues. 1. The Staff doesn't have experience at all. 2. Rude Staff. 3. Very expensive for the quality. 4. Very unprofessional, you make appointment and they change it with out any notice, with lame excuses. I've try to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it been to many issues to many times, I've never been happy with the result but I kept going for convenience. But it's enough for me. The other day I came in with my mother, 2 year old son and 4 year old sister. The kids were super happy to go look at the cats. We went over to look at the cats and my 2 year old, got very excited and started going "oo" loudly over and over again, smiling and laughing at the kittens. I told him to quiet down a bit, and as I did, an employee, Lisa, supposedly the manager, came out from the back and started viciously yelling at us and telling us to make them be quiet. When we replied saying we were, and apologizing, (even though we shouldn't have from the way she was behaving towards us) She then went in the back behind the glass, giving me an evil glare and continued to harass and yell at us and our children. We will be contacting corporate and will never be back in this store again. This behavior is shocking and completely inappropriate. read more

This is hands down the worst PetSmart I have ever been to. I highly recommend never even entering this store. I personally wouldn't consider myself a complainer but I downloaded yelp just so I could give this store a terrible review. The customer service was very horrendous and I could not get anyone to help me out for anything. They even had the audacity to put my character into question when I tried to purchase something from the store and was not able to do so. Other PetSmart stores are great but every time I have ever been in this PetSmart I have had a horrible experience. I will not be going back and would recommend not using this store. Absolutely horrible experiences with the grooming salon would not recommend. Over the last several months we have been to the grooming salon here a few times. On every single occasional they have messed something up with our appointment, and each time they have done a horrible job with my dog. Each time he has come out with random nails that were not cut, patches of fur that were left far too long and others that are far too short. They always manage to somehow both knock his chest/groin and leave areas completely untrimmed. We will definitely not be returning there again and will be looking for alternatives for the future. read more

They didn't do a lot of what I paid for. When I scheduled the appointment, the website said the bath and brush included basic trimming like the paw pads, face, and sanitary. They didn't wash my dogs face and there was no trimming done at all. The parts they did wash and brush were super clean and soft though. read more

They were especially helpful to this disabled customer. My service dog's vet had ordered him prescription food and I had no idea where it was. An employee quickly showed me where to go and helped me get the food down. And since trying to carry a bag of dog food on your lap while driving a wheelchair is virtually impossible, the employee grabbed a cart and loaded it in for me and walked me to the front of the store. After I paid, he helped me out onto the sidewalk and to get the bag of food situated on my lap where it would be secure while I waited for my bus to pick me up. The thing that was best about it though was that he never once treated me like I was some damaged or stupid person (which you fellow disabled people can know is a real problem). It was a courteous gesture all the while treating me like I was human and I appreciate it. The only reason that this is not a 5 star review is the price. My service dog's food is $97 for a 17.6 lbs bag. He's a standard poodle, so he goes through that in a month. The cost is insane and is really hard on someone on a limited budget. It would be nice if PetSmart's prices were a little more reasonable. read more

The worst service I have ever received at any store ever. This young woman working the register with naturally curly red hair was so rude. We checked out a minute before closing and she wouldn't answer our question (if we could price match) and said "we can't do that because we've been closed for a WHOLE minute now" so much animosity for a basic question. Rushed the whole check out process and was so rude the whole time. We were being polite the whole time and she was so rude because we left 2 minutes after closing. I will not be returning there anytime soon! I have been the "pet companion" - aka owner - of two Samoyed mixes, with heavy coats. Consequently have had them groomed in many places in Boulder CO. Decided to try PetSmart, as others recommended them. They assured me they a) knew how to work with double-coated breeds like Samoyeds or Huskies; and b) with elderly dogs. Ha! I am not attaching a photo (no link here), but if I did people would be as horrified as I was when I examined my poor, traumatized old girl. I had brought her in for a bath and nail clipping, as well as to have her tummy and part of her chest shaved for the summer heat. (We have that done every year -- it is the only part of the Samoyed that it is recommended to shave, as the double coat does not grow back in well if shaved.) They neither washed her, nor clipped her nails! They completely shaved one side of her head and neck down to her shoulder! Only one back of the ear area was cleaned out. (There were mats there, yes.) She looks like she's having surgery! And only part of her tummy was shaved. The groomer "Devon" called me three times saying "She's all matted! She's all matted!" I told them that it was okay to groom, bathe, clip and do the nails. But that she was elderly and would need to lie down. Apparently these people do not listen to customers and misrepresent themselves. The supposedly "experienced" groomer had no idea how to clip an elderly dog's nails, for example. Basically, they covered their incompetence with an attitude of insinuating I was a negligent pet companion, since she was what they called "matted", under her lovely long top coat. I have worked in dog shelters, raised money for the shelter and been an international animal activist all my life. How rude and what a lack of customer service. I paid what they charged me, and even tipped a small percentage as I am a responsible person who knows these sorts of jobs are underpaid. However, when I got her to the car and realized what they'd done, I went back in to talk to them again. I also had to buy a nail clipper to do her nails myself!! PetSmart will not be seeing me or my family -- or the friends in Boulder whom I will alert -- again. read more

Meh. They may be cheap, and have a big selection, but I try to avoid shopping here at all costs. For one, their employees seem inept at handling animals (last time I was there, one of their associates was yanking up all the small mammals by their tails to hand to customers (ouch! and horrible practice!), and then loudly complaining about how they bite him all the time... I wonder why!!) My biggest complaint here is that the employees chastise you for shopping anywhere else... If you mention another pet store, they immediately jump on with an "Eww, don't go there. We're way cheaper" and "Why would you shop there?" Highly unprofessional. They may be cheaper than their competitors, but the quality of the service and products should speak for themselves, not be rudely advertised by the employees. Either they need new employees, new management, or a big attitude change to convince me to shop there. read more

This PetSmart is just okay, and that's really rounding up. The store is clean. But some of the employees are pretty unprofessional. Store-wide. Cashiers being snarky with each other and passing the buck a lot. When Banfield was there, the service was awful from their front desk. The Petshotel staff are ok, sometimes. But I've heard them talk about other pets when I'm there to pick up or drop off my dog. The grooming salon is the worst. They hurt my dog's feet with a dremel but lied about it. They often shamed me for my dog's nails being long. He has black nails that grow quickly. There's someone there named Dee who is great. Dee tries to get to know us, which is awesome. Otherwise, meh. I have a dog that is very quiet and sweet and has no history of anxiety, irritability or screaming or yelling. I have gotten him groomed before and never had an issue and I know how he is supposed to feel after a thorough grooming. When I came to pick him up after the grooming they told me he yelled the whole time, was anxious and he immediately ran behind me when he saw me. Completely abnormal behavior for my dog, not to mention that he clearly was not groomed properly and was still wet and shaken up. He was shedding like crazy still and did not seem groomed, he seemed like someone threw a bucket of water on him and called me to pick him up. The service was terrible and I do not know what they did to my dog but I will never be going to this establishment again. I only wish i had read the other yelp reviews prior to going! I started only going to this Petsmart store because my local one is staffed by really inept people and Boulder did have a couple of nice and competent people, but now this one has gone to the dogs too (pun intended). There are a ton of food choices for my cats BUT not the ones that they will actually eat. Toys are ludicrously expensive and no self-respecting animal would play with that rubbish anyway. To add insult to injury, the staff are surly and unhelpful. I've had a PetPerks account for 10 years and today the cashier couldn't find my number in the system, even tho it worked just fine there a week ago. I'd really like to know what idiot at HQ decided to get rid of the PetPerks cards because they always worked great. Now we're expected to bellow our personal phone numbers for anyone to hear. I guess I'll have to start revisiting my local independent stores instead. read more

I recently moved to Boulder and had let my dog go too long without grooming, so I needed to get in somewhere fast. I called on a Monday night and they were able to get me in the very next day for a 5:30 appointment. They didn't have any other dogs being groomed at the time, so she was done in one hour. The groomer, Devon, was very nice and listened to my requests. I wasn't planning to take my dog to a chain store, as I generally prefer supporting small businesses, but the convenience factor makes me think I will likely return to PetSmart. The only thing it the price is a little higher than I had been paying (around $50 instead of $35). However, for the first grooming I used two "first time" coupons and got it down to $29 plus a tip. Wanted to leave a review because the reviews I saw weren't very good!
