I went to Petsmart last night (a week night) at 8:15, after a frustrating experience at the Petco in S. Portland, where I was ignored the whole time I was there, and everything was really expensive. Immediately got a warm welcome from Cassie and associates. I told Cassie that I needed everything to bring home my new puppy. She helped me shop, price-compare, gave me lots of very supportive advice, AND she knew the characteristics of the blend of my mixed-breed pup. Turns out Cassie used to breed dogs, and teaches the training classes for this store. I happily bought the coupon book -- and right off the bat, it paid for itself and more. Pup and I will get a training class (with Cassie!), a first grooming, a free bag of dog food, discounts, etc. Cassie mirrored my excitement about bringing home my new pup, and as I checked out, she said I should call her at the store if I have any questions at all. Super duper 'hometown' service, really decent prices, and a very clean store. Very happy with my Petsmart Biddeford experience! read more

Don't buy reptiles from here. Specifically snakes. Asked to buy a ball python, staff member didnt know many of the answers to our questions. Waited 20 mins for the "snake expert" to arrive and she roughly handled the snakes before giving us the "healthiest looking one".. red flag #1. One of the snakes had a respiratory infection and was blowing bubbles out of its nose. The other one had very pale pink gums. Moral of the story, they don't take care of their snakes, we bought one and we adored him and took perfect care of him but he was secretly sick as we found out and he died tonight after having him for around 3 weeks. Do your research. Go to a reputable breeder... not here. read more

For the love of God don't buy fish here. The small handful of times I've made the mistake of buying fish here they had ich. If you don't know what it is, it's a parasite that will kill the fish and spread to the rest of your tank, and the only treatments will probably kill most of them too. My mom just bought a tropical fish tank and got all the fish from there, and I imagine it couldn't have been cheap. I stopped by to look at the tank the next day... Boom: all except the corydoras I bought her from somewhere else had ich. I don't know how it's possible that they didn't notice they were selling fish with ich, and my mom is new to this and didn't know what to look for, and they took advantage of that and its really sad. Great store, everyone I have encountered has been extremely helpful from helping with my one year-old husky to creating my now five aquariums. I've been to a couple other stores and Petco being one in South Portland and this is by far one of the friendliest and most helpful of the big brands stores. read more

Brought my senior dogs to be groomed here for the first time. I used to get them professionally groomed but it's so expensive and I always felt the job wasn't great. However, I got tired of fighting them and decided to give us both a break. Making appts at petsmart is easy: you can do it all online. I wanted the dogs done at the same time so I chose two different groomers. I found the shop to be clean and the staff courteous. It was only 2.5 hours and the dogs looked better than I could have done. The price was reasonable, too: under $100 with tip for both. read more

Seriously worst customer service I have ever had I bought this reptile leopard lizard from them a year ago for my son the only thing the lizard eats is crickets I have been to this pet smart multiple times to buy crickets and they are always out and they always have an excuse why. Well usually we can wait for a certain shipment day which happens to be tomorrow I talked to the MGR Monica. I looked into the cricket bin and there were a few in there well she tells me sorry we are sold out anything in that bin is for our own reptiles and that they would be getting a shipment in tomorrow. I explain my situation that me and my family are going out of town for a couple weeks and our lizard could use a few to get by as we are leaving real early and won't be able to make it back for the shipment.. I'm not sure this lizard can last two more weeks without food and she looks at me and says well sorry.. These people working there should be a little more sensitive to the lives of pets that we bought there as there are no other places around to buy crickets and they didn't have crickets for a week and now we have a trip to go on and the lizard has no food. Monica should have at least sold me a few to get us by but Noooooo she had to prove a point and be stiff with me.. Hopefully Corporate PetSmart reads this and sends undercover Boss into Biddo PetSmart. read more

Service was terrible staff made fun of us behind our back and was overheard commenting when customers came in looking for a reptile that it was ten minutes to closing. Cassie then gets on the paging system and asks for customer svc to reptile dept. she and Nicole appeared to be the only ones working. WTF? Just to look like they were too busy? Also the bathroom was dirty. There was a price discrepancy on dog food that was randomly marked off and we were not offered the discount. ;( read more

This place absolutely sucks I just got a chameleon there and he looked black when we got him but didn't think much of it. The girl came over and chose everything out for us that he needed and we wanted everything to be perfect so we got ever she said. $500 later we left the store and went to go set everything up.. today, 2 weeks later he's dead perfect humidity and temperature, crickets in the cage, meal worms, and veggies. Before this we got 2 mollies that died a month after we got them, a beta that died 3 days after we got him and my cousin got a goldfish that died within a week of having her. After all that I went to petco and i would suggest you go to there where their animals look healthy and happy. read more

STORE: Four stars! The store is always clean, and I've never gotten a sick fish. They have great sales on fish supplies. The staff is MUCH more available than Petco in Portsmouth, where I've typically waited 20 minutes for a fish associate. (Note, Petsmart in Rochester has sold me several sick fish so I'm only rating the Biddeford location). My only complaint is that the store is kind of crowded, I wish it had a few hundred extra square feet of floor space. GROOMING: FIVE STARS! Joe is an excellent groomer, I could not recognize my scruffy little Cockatzu (in a GOOD way!). I can't even compare them to Petco, where we were ignored, had the wrong services rendered and charged, and they forgot to even clip his nails. Petsmart's groomers are friendly, they take the time to answer questions, they do a thorough job and always have an opening in the near future. I'm getting private salon service (where I always have to wait 3 weeks for an appointment) at Petsmart convenience. I highly recommend this Petsmart location and especially the grooming staff. read more

Made an appointment to get my dog groomed 12 days in advance. Received both a confirmation text message the day I made the appointment and then received a reminder text the day before the appointment. For some inexplicable reason, I called just before leaving and then was informed that I had NO appointment. Petsmart claimed I wasn't even "in the system"....and yet I received automated confirmation texts. My dogs weren't " in the system", but I was reminded to furnish the current Rabies certificate..... Huh? Obviously this store has a faulty reservation computer system or perhaps faulty operators. To their credit, they offered an appointment at a latter date. To their discredit, they failed to offer an incentive to take another chance on them. Perhaps the Petsmart Biddeford staff are skilled and thoughtful groomers, but they are poor businesspeople. IF I can't trust them to keep an appointment, can I trust them with caretaking for my dogs? read more

I've been taking my dog here for years, but recently the store has gone downhill. I still like that they offer grooming and always have an option to donate to local animal shelters at the cash registers, but that's about it. I went in a few days ago to schedule a grooming appointment and I couldn't believe the atmosphere of the store. There was a woman (I assume a manager) standing at the front of the store pointing at customers and yelling for associates to go help them. So I walked down the dog leash aisle with my dog and heard her scream to an associate. "Customer in leashes go!!!!" So this associate runs over to me, and just looks absolutely bothered that she was just yelled at. Where is the genuine customer service? I remember when your staff would want to come talk to me and play with my dog. Some of them even used to know him by name! Now they all are busy until the woman at the front of the store commands them to help me. Nobody cares about me, they just look terrified of getting yelled at. But, alas. I gave two stars because I love looking at the fish while I wait for my dog. And until another store with friendlier people comes closer to me, I will still be shopping there.... read more

Visiting the area from out-of-state and my terrier needed a haircut. The staff members at the salon were very friendly and accommodating. They spend a lot of time with me consulting on the type of cut i wanted and made some recommendations. He looks fantastic and I loved the "report card" they sent home with him. The manager Nick is incredibly rude. I called earlier in the morning to check on an order that I had made 2 weeks earlier for 4 cases of cat food. The individual said the order was in but they hadn't gone through their delivery yet and to call later in the day. I called at 3 pm and that is when Nick answered the phone. He was incredibly short with me and gave me the impression that I was bothering him. After several minutes on hold he told me that he had only 40 cans. After I pressed him about the order he told me it either was never placed or hadn't come in yet. He made no plans to check on the order. When I told him I would let people know about his rude service he wasn't concerned and said "fine". I will be going to my local pet store from now on. They may be a little more expensive but it is worth it to be treated well and to have my orders fullfiled. read more

Our TWO dogs were groomed in December and we received TWO $5.00 coupon to use on their next grooming service. We had them groomed on 2/25/16. Grooming was excellent as usual but when we got to the cash register and presented the coupons, we were told by the cashier #559517 that only 1 coupon could be used. We tried to explain that it was one coupon per dog. She would not listen and said that's how the system was set up. She was not helpful, dismissive and rude! read more

I brought my dog to PetSmart to have my dog groomed. We had her bathed with tangerine shampoo her nails trimmed. When we picked up the dog my dog still smelled extremely doggie and her nails were barely touched. Customer service was very rude. When speaking to the groomer she made faces and stormed off. I contacted PetSmart with my concerns and was promised that the concern would be addressed within 48 hours. It has been over 2 weeks and nobody has reached out regarding my concerns. I again contacted PetSmart and they were going to address my concerns - this time within 24-48 hours. It has been 56 hours and I still have not been contacted. read more
