Kept my dog in a cage the whole time, when he was clearly having crazy anxiety, my dog ended up having bad diarrhea to the point blood came out. He was there for 3+ hours and he only got a bath, but no hair cut or nail trimming done like he was supposed too. Never coming back. read more

My parents bought a pup for our girls. We visited PetSmart when the lady my parents planned to buy a kennel from, stopped communicating. Despite not having pets, we knew exactly where to come. Sometimes in Alaska there is no time to price compare, and as someone who doesn't have pets, whom would I compare PetSmart to, ya know?! So, I can't speak on prices. We needed a starter kennel and weren't leaving without one. The one we bought was around $100 and required assembly of course. The employee who pointed out the kennels and rang us up when we were ready, was especially helpful and efficient. I would return. read more

Me and my friend are absolutely livid and yes we will be going back to yall in person and make sure you make things right. We took Casper in for a grooming last saturday and he bled for a couple days since the grooming. We did not notice until we got home where he had deep cuts. The lady who groomed him told us when we asked how he did that he did good and that all he did was throw up. But there was more to the story left untold. It is completely unacceptable how negligent she was, at least could've had the courtesy to let us know what she did. And even going in with appointment,as they don't do walk ins anymore, Casper took hours until being ready. We had an appointment at 4 however they asked us to come earlier and we arrived at 3:30 and they took a good 3-3 and a half hours with him. Walking by to check in to see what's going on,he was the only damn dog getting groomed so hm what could have taken so long? This place don't even deserve no 1 star, BOOHOO read more

Quite possibly employs the laziest and most unkind grooming staff in the state. Chloe is the worst and refused to groom my cat because she decided the cat didn't like the air dryer enough. Even if that was the case, which it was not, Chloe could have simply toweled the cat well and let her air-dry as this breed of cat doesn't have an undercoat. But nope! Chloe didn't want to put forth the effort to do a simple thing which would have profited her commission. Lazy and insufferable. If you're the store manager, don't message me - I will never be back. I was looking for a new LED aquarium light and found them in the store (this past Saturday afternoon, around 3PM). An employee who was stocking or something in the area spoke to me about the lights, and I selected the one I wanted. I don't have anything fancy and the light was something like $37, which was fine even though I knew I could probably get it for less online, I don't mind paying the "Alaska price" for things. That employee seemed knowledgable and helpful. However, when I went to check out, it rang up as $104. I informed the cashier that that was not the price on the shelf, and she said the difference was because I do not have an account with the store. I don't live in Anchorage and am only there maybe once or twice a year, so I don't see the point of an account. I asked her if it could really be true that not having an account triples the price of a fairly low-end LED light, and she assured me that was the case. Obviously, I did not buy the light because that is outrageous, and also I'm sure she was incorrect, there was only one price for the item on the shelf, no "member deal" listed or anything like that, but she was so utterly dismissive I didn't want to argue. So now I'm looking at them on Amazon instead, when I was perfectly willing to buy it for the in-store price. read more

When you need good merchandise (Vital Raw Food - Cold Refrigerator) we are here. They have so many items here, mom used to bring her dog here for grooming, we have Italian Greyhounds no need to groom LOL! From tooth brushes and vitamins for our pets to treats you name it it's there. We've gone skiing in Girdwood at Alyeska and left our dogs at their pet hotel. They even have an upscale TV room for your dog should you wish to pay the extra 'Suite' fee for it LOL. No my dog's don't need a TV. LOL! Note they will call with any medical concerns but be sure you need the medical treatment. After normal hours they will refer a medical issue/test to a Pet Emergency location and it's not cheap! It happened when our oldest dog who has separation anxiety wouldn't eat. We said go ahead and check him - turned out he was fine but the cost was $$$$ after hours. read more

About two weeks ago I took one of my two dogs Apache into the PetSmart at Tikahtnu Commons for a nail trim long story short his nails were all messed up and he was bleeding on multiple nails even when I got home i had to apply kwik about two times. I contacted corporate and slammed that store hard because both of my dogs are ESA and they are federally protected under MHA Laws. Cooperate sent the complaint down to this store by accident and I got a call from the store manager so she was aware that I was blasting the other petsmart.. Stores in the same district are in cahoots together especially when the corporate. I go into this store for pictures with Santa for both Apache and Hunter Brown and I'm told that the pictures cannot be found even though I had made a reservation. I do not appreciate being retaliated against and I can establish that this is In fact that because I can guarantee that no none else in their system has a 929 area code and I have not yet seen an Akita and a red fox Labrador out here with the names Apache and Hunter Brown so between the area code, my dogs breed and name this makes me stand out like a sore thumb..I am a New Yorker born in NYC and I am not gong to put up w my relationship with with petsmart is done and any responses and concerns this store can shove em.. read more

Terrible dog grooming and even more terrible customer service. Brought my dog a few months back to get cut. They took entirely too much off the mane and body. When I told the girl I had a complaint, she flat out said the manager was gone so there was no one to complain to. Left my contact info and even called the store and left a message and still never heard back. Brought my dog back here yesterday to attempt the cut again. When I showed up to get her the two girls up front looked at me and exchanged looks to each other at least twice before acknowledging me 5-7 minutes later. I finally said excuse me before either one of them even tried to help me. Then when I told them I was there for my dog, they refused to bring her out until I paid. I'm sorry what?! Then she tells me they can't give me my dog because people left without paying. Well I know why. Once I returned with receipt in hand I saw that the cut was wrong. AGAIN! This time a guy who seemed genuinely apologetic took down my information. I get a call from the manager who states she's the one who did the cut. I tell her it's wrong. She says "I confirmed with your husband that it was the same cut as last time" I tell her "ok well it was also cut wrong last time". She says "well I'm sorry the notes weren't fixed in the computer, but I confirmed it with your husband ". Dude, what don't you understand about the cut you are doing is the one I want. It's just you're doing it wrong! She never offered an apology, discount on my next one, assured me they would get it right next time, a refund, apology for terrible customer service, NOTHING. These people are terrible. I'll never return. When I told the manager that over the phone she simply said "ok". That's how many ducks they give. Smh. Y'all know what I mean. Costumer service has been excellent and the staff has helped us so much with my family's newly acquired Leopard geckos. They have taken their time to clarify what we need while helping us select the best products to suit the geckos, as well as the Dubia roaches we're housing to feed those geckos. I've never owned anything outside cats and dogs so I had a ton of questions, and they informed me of things I hadn't thought of. They had everything we needed and most of what we wanted for them. I have been there at least 6 times in the last three weeks and many times before that for our 3 dogs. Not once have they rushed me or made me feel like an imposition (which I have experienced at other pet stores). All staff has been friendly and the best part, what I have been told thus far is the exact same things their vet has told me. It's so important to be given accurate information with a new pet, and I appreciate that I can trust the information I've been given. I can't speak on any other petsmarts, but this one is great. This weekend I brought my 3 year old Jack Russell for a one-night stay and bought the "platinum" package that advertises "This stay, play, snack & pamper package includes: Up to 8 hours of play, socialization & enrichment or up to 60 minutes of one-on-one fun. Snack KONG® activity $ Homecoming Bath." I paid over $70 dollars for this platinum package because I wanted my dog to have plenty of socializing. I asked if my dog did good with group play when I picked him up and they told me he didn't have any group play. That he had 30 minutes of one on one time in the 30 hours He was there. So basically he was in prison. Even though their ad depicts this fun social experience - but with their "up to" 8 hours of play OR "up to" 60 minutes of socializing, they can put your dog in jail and come scratch them for a minute or two Or none. NOT going to PetSmart Hotel ever again. read more

Rude, uncooperative staff - a few months ago my son was able to pick out a hamster by holding them, and now my fiancé's son goes to pick one out and they won't let him do anything but look. I truly get the impression the person was lazy and just didn't want to open the cage (she spouted off some "liability" reason, but this is a PET STORE people). It's a pet store with food and pets. I'm a little on the wall with this review because the first time I bought pet food the customer service was great from the stocker person to check out. When I went another time to return an unopened bag and switch it out to a different type I had lost my credit card and was waiting for a replacement. There was a bit of confusion on my part as I had the receipt and rewards number, but they wouldn't give me cash refund on the difference since I didn't have a card. I didn't want a $3 gift card so I found a couple of items that should have rung up to $2.98. Instead the dude's binder bar code had one item at $1.09 instead of $0.99, so he said that's $0.08 please. Um, no. Please walk with me 20 feet to the treat stand for the sticker price. Instead his manager was like it's fine, just eat the $0.08. It was uncomfortable to say the least, and a polar opposite from my previous experience. May come again. read more

Meh. I'm not really a fan. For starters, there's some serious price gouging going on here. The dog toys are riduculously expensive. 2nd they often are out of stuff. Recently I wanted a collapsible dog bowl for hiking and they were out. It seems like in summer this is something they would have in ample supply. beware of pet hotel using the approval for them to take your animal to the emergency vet. they will do this without calling you first and then hold your animal hostage until you pay that $350 vet bill that was completely unnecessary. you can try to complain but they will say you agreed to it. Love love love the Dimond PetSmart groomers!!! They are professional, courteous, and do a great job on my fur babies. My oldest dog is a bit problematic about getting his nails trimmed...yet he allowed Gino to do them and even use a buffer for the first time. Thank you for making them gorgeous and keeping them happy! Update: The groomers have changed over the last months. Prices have gone up and the grooming isn't as thorough as in the past. Not sure what's going on, but the last two times have been disappointing. read more

First thing when I was walking in was an entry rug just full of hair clumps, just gross. The 2nd thing that hit me was the smell of urine! This was my first and last time in this place. They don't carry Merrick brand foods which was what I was after. I couldn't find anyone to help me either. All in all a disappointing visit. read more

I'm never coming back here again... I came In today having a grooming appointment at 9am and was waiting outside since 840 because I had to be at work at 9. And on the app I said that my dog Bailey had surgery 3 weeks ago almost 4 and the VET said she was good to go and get her haircut today and I kept telling them that and they were saying "she had stitches"and they couldn't take her and "sorry " for the inconvenience when I said I had to be at work at 9. And I kept telling them she was good to go I bathe and blow dry her at home and they were telling me she could get distressed and they would open up. She's been at the salon more than once she does fine I always take her to the Muldoon one but never again @ Dimond , also she didn't have stitches at all I don't know if they didn't want to work or what but they suck here. I am a complete animal person and find that animals kept in isolation in a cage is unacceptable. Upon check out at this store I asked the staff member if she ever played with the cats displayed for adoption. She said no she never had. But has the desire to. When asked how long she had been working at the store she said a month. I would envision that if you would work at PetSmart that your love for animals would overrule your desires for a quick exit from work. Which is what this staff member said to me. I suggest that PetSmart enact some sort of work related playtime with the animals they consider up for adoption. Isolation for a sentient being will lead to disorders. It's an absolute shame that they ask me for money for homeless pets, but yet their staff do not want to or are not allowed to play and socialize with the animals housed there. I am sure this practice is rampant at most of the PetSmart. read more

WARNING: TAKE YOUR GROOMING ELSEWHERE! Today we took our Cairn Terrier to PetSmart on Dimond for grooming. BIG MISTAKE! My wife and daughter took the time to describe exactly how they wanted him cut and actually showed a picture of the length and style they wanted. Instead of achieving the cut requested, the dog came back veritably unrecognizeable. Despite the fact that winter is rapidly approaching the dog was shorn like a sheep almost down to his skin, not cut. It will take months to grow back to its proper length. read more

Never again. We've taken our Newfie cross there and had excellent service. He's got typical Newfie fur which is prone to mats but we brush him regularly. This time though we were told he'd need areas of shaving, which was fine. We were told his fur would be 1.5-2" all over. What was returned to us was a stressed out dog whose fur was so short you could see his skin in his sides. He's literally half the dog he was. I should have seen it coming when the tech, Chloe, didn't make eye contact with me, hardly spoke to me at all when I was explaining what I wanted, and didn't treat him like a living being at all. The only thing she directly responded to when I was talking to her was, when I said he didn't like his feet touched, a snarky "I can tell". We have two dogs and two cats and you can be sure I'll never spend another dime there. read more

When we were visiting Anchorage, there were a few excursions that we wanted to do that weren't all that dog friendly. The friends we were visiting take their dog to the doggie daycamp at PetSmart and suggested we do the same for one day. Both of us brought our pooches for the daycamp option. They offer both daycare and daycamp. In LA, I take my dog weekly to dog daycare, which means about 12 hours of running around. At PetSmart, however, daycare is sitting in a kennel with two "play periods" - daycamp is the "play all day" option. The price is a little higher for daycamp (I think it was $16 vs. $23) but well worth it. I don't know how other day cares in the area rank in terms of cost, but this is more competitive than most places where I live. The PetSmart is really, really clean and had a lot of merchandise. We weren't in a shopping mood, but I was impressed by how organized everything was. The daycamp employees were nice and friendly and checked us in pretty quickly (after reviewing all of the vaccination paperwork, of course). There's a video camera in the playroom so that you can watch your dogs. We picked them up after the daycamp hours were over (5pm) so they spent their last few hours in a kennel, but both of our dogs seemed tired and happy. And we got a report card about how they did with specific details about which dogs they played with and what they enjoyed. Since I live a 5+ hour flight from Anchorage, I won't be becoming a regular, but I'm happy to have a dogsitting option if we take Murray back to Alaska with us one day! read more

Worst. Dog. Haircut. Ever. I asked them to go short, but not into my dog's undercoat. I even showed them with my fingers the length I wanted cut off. But they went into my dog's undercoat anyways and cut her hair way too short. The grooming staff were very difficult to communicate with. To top it off, they put a bow in her hair -- which was not a clip but a RUBBER BAND -- that completely tangled her fur. read more

We showed up for the "ice cream social" that advertised "dog sundaes, digital photos, and a tour of the pet hotel." We were interested in this because we've wanted to use their boarding services. When we arrived we were handed a doggie ice cream cup and then turned away. No photos, no tour. When I finally got the attention of the woman working with the dog boarding she said "Is your dog neutered?" And I said "no, he's three months" in which she said "ok, well then he can't be in doggy daycare here because he has to be neutered or he's a threat to our other animals" in which I was really puzzled and asked "we have to get our brand new puppy neutered to be in your care?" And she said "yeah we just aren't able to watch the dogs. And you can get your dog neutered for $150 so it's not a big deal." What I got from this conversation: PetSmart customer service does not understand that you're not supposed to neuter under a year old because they're not fully grown. And it costs around $500 to neuter a dog, not $150. Also, how can you have a doggy daycare and boarding without actually watching the animals? You've lost a customer because of your disgusting and neglectful guidelines and false advertising. read more

I AM SO GLAD PETSMART FINALLY JOINED US HERE IN ANCHORAGE ALASKA!!! I love this store and so does my big dog! He loves walking down the treat isle :-) and the staff there is so friendly and ready to help you. Competitive pricing! Petco can suck my ass! ;-) (I still shop and like it there as some of the product I get is not offered at the Petsmart location). I've checked my cat into the Petsmart Hotel for a few days, a month ago and not only did she love it but the staff loved her! She has such an open and great personality she quickly adjusted to her surroundings and the was the star of the place while she was there. They let thme run around in the cat room throughout the day (not all the cats at once as some are more solitary and territorial than others) and was told she took advantage of that and was playing with all the toys and the staff. I will definiately be bringing my cat there again in 2 weeks!! I might even try it with my dog this time too :-) read more

Don't get your dog groomed here. Horrible. I have a poodle.. they scalped him, and gave him a reverse Mohawk!! Worst haircut I have ever seen. Groomers should really have to goto hair school. Be careful with the puppy coupon book deal. The cashier kept emphasizing that the items I was purchasing would be "practically free" with the coupon book and did not mention that the book itself was $20. Since I had a wailing new puppy in my arms, I merely agreed since all I wanted to do is pay and leave the store to get my puppy home. Of course, once I left, I noticed that the book was indeed $20. Although the book itself has alright deals, it was infuriating that he did not mention how much it cost at all. Tamara gave my Shepherd mix, Piper, a furminator grooming today for $66. She was so sweet with my dog, then, when I came to pick up my pup 3 hours later, Tamara was red cheeked and exhausted, and Piper who was "dropping her coat" didn't have a single stray hair left! I had been eating, sleeping, and bathing in dog hair for the week before the groom! Piper will be back! Thank you so much Tamara! You probably aren't looking forward to it! But we are!
