I do not recommend Atlas Working K9's! She sent me 2 cease & desist letters & lied about a settlement when it came to this review. Yelp has now placed a consumer alert on Atlas Working K9 for misusing the legal system. I have video, screenshots, audio recording, & multiple witnesses to validate my review. She also keeps flagging my pictures in hopes to remove my review. Then you have her ex fiancé Mike Milsap & business partners Courtney Odem's husband (who lives in Texas) commenting on here to give her a higher star rating. She also reviewed herself for a higher star rating which was removed. Annabelle is a huge bully & has threatened me 4 times now, made false statements about me, highly unprofessional, & in my opinion not a good dog trainer or person. First, She told me my dog could not be a service dog because of his high drive when she hadn't even worked with him yet. After I already paid $2,875 for board & train! His main goal was to be a service dog not a pet since I don't have a lifestyle that supports a pet dog. Second, I only went to her because it looked like online she did positive reinforcement & she was recommended by the breeder. However, she put a prong collar on my 3 month puppy when I said I wasn't comfortable using a prong since he was so young. A prong collar isn't used in positive reinforcement & shouldn't be used on a puppy under 6 months. She does put prong collars on every dog she works with from what I've seen. I did see an improvement in my puppy with this other trainer after she quit working for Annabelle & no longer had to follow Annabelle's methods. The biggest improvement started when we stopped using the prong collar. Third, no refunds offered at the time she told me my puppy had potential genetic hip dysplasia. She told me if I returned him to the breeder she would just use what was left of my training to train a different dog, not issue a refund. Forth, highly unprofessional & threatened legal action against me 3 times in an attempt to scare me into removing my honest reviews. First threat came when she posted a cryptic post that talked about "stop blaming the dog & the breeder for being at fault & the reason for rehoming a dog". It seemed it was aimed towards me & my dog so I commented & she claimed it wasn't about him (but she had him in her possession at the time of the post). Then she threatened me in private message saying I'd hear from her attorney if I talked bad about her. Second threat was when she SENT ME A CEASE & DESIST LETTER THE DAY SHE POSTED SHE NOW OWNED MY PUPPY & RENAMED HIM! Then in a second social media post over exaggerated everything I said about the puppy as the reasons why I sold him back to the breeder to discredit me & my experience with him!!! Third threat was a 2nd cease & desist letter threatening criminal charges due to my reviews & said I could no longer talk or post about my former puppy Zenyokai (now Apollo)! Not only that but threatening criminal charges against reviews is a very unethical scare tactic to silence me & get me to remove my honest reviews! As well as now owning my puppy & renaming him which seems to be out of spite! Update: She now posted on Facebook & on this review response claiming Zenyokai (apollo) was malnutritioned. (He was not) Then after creating her response on google & slanderous Facebook post, in one of her 20 harassing text messages to me she said I was a great dog mom & cared deeply for zenyokai now apollo. She's using zenyokai (apollo) as a pawn to bash me & the trainer who formerly worked for her. Unfortunately she has google & Yelp flag all my screenshots of proof. In a little less than a month our pups will be staying with Atlas Working K-9's for their Vacation Stay in June while we get married out of state! We even booked their stay with her several weeks in advance to ensure they had a spot with her. Our pups will be staying with her for 2 whole weeks and she is one of on a very small list of people whom we trust to properly care for our pups in the same way we do. We know they'll get all the love and care they need so we don't have to worry while we're away. We have been working with Annabelle for 2 years now and will continue to do so. Her valuable knowledge and experience create an opportunity for each and every dog to succeed that comes her way. We value her opinion and highly recommend her. I started taking my 1.5 year old black lab to atlas working k-9s at at the end of last year. We were mainly looking for help with improved recall and learning how to use an e-collar safely and effectively as well as tips to make car rides more enjoyable because he used to yelp and scream every time he got in the car. Annabelle's play based training methods worked fantastically for our pup and he is now behaving better than he ever has! He is fantastic off leash, recalls really well and it's rare that we have to actually use the e-collar because he is so motivated by play. And he is now an absolute angel in the car! So, if you're wondering if a Board and Train is worth it. Do yourself a favor and call. Because, if your looking you know you need it! Back to my review, 5 months ago I started looking into a dog trainer for our out of control doodle, yes, totally out of control. So, my husband decides that we should look into a Board & Train program. We're thinking they take our doodle for a couple of weeks then we would have a perfectly trained,obedient, relaxed family pet. Right? Our journey is starting. Called several trainers with either no answer, no call backs, or we don't do B&T any longer or if they do, it's raw food or 100% treat based ( who wants to walk around all day with raw food in their pocket!). (Gross) or the dog must work for his food. We just want our family dog to listen. Was this really going to be this hard to find a trainer? Atlas Working k9s answered the phone and I start with my questions. Annabelle stated that she is a play based trainer ( that was new). We connected over her philosophy on dog training! Yes, finally! ( a sigh of relief) I passed all this new, and exciting information on to my husband. Here comes his list of demands! How much, location, needs to visit facility, list of references, time frame and guarantee!! The usual list of demands from a finance business man! Annabelle, graciously set up a tour, gave us references, a date and time and a price. My husband is tossing all this information around while on a business trip. A week has passed and no decision has been made until I take our, out of control dog, to the dog park!! Bad idea! Let's say I had no control over my dog. I'm running after the dog yelling for him to come to me. He's just running a muck(please tell me I'm not the only person to do this) and I'm yelling and running around like an idiot!!! I called Annabelle the minute I reached home. I'm crying, filled with frustration ready to kill the dog! She gave me some hope! I paid for the Board and Train. I dropped him off a few days later and wished her luck and left! I have to admit life without Winston was nice! However, my family missed him dearly Annabelle sent text and video updates. We FaceTimed a few of his lessons and kept up with him on social media. Winston even made his debut on Facebook for Atlas Working K9s! So proud of you! Week 5 arrived and Annabelle called and wanted to extend Winston's training ( we have a special needs daughter) to work on a few issues pertaining to our families needs. Annabelle put the needs of my family first. Plus, she didn't charge us any extra money for the additional 3 weeks of training! ( who does that?)After 8 weeks we're finally on our way to bring our puppy home! Yay! Annabelle sits us down to start our going home lesson. She taught us how to effectively communicate and to understand his limitations, how to use our new tools, gave us guidelines, a routine and most importantly how to play! Yes, how to play with our puppy! Amazing information! I won't give out any secrets! We refer to our take home folder as Winston's Bible, no joke! I was so worried. Will this play based training really work? Will he remember us after being gone for 8 weeks? After a while Annabelle released our boy and we are greeted with kisses, excitement, jumping into our arms, he was whining and we all had tears of joy running down our faces! It's was pure happiness! Then the real work began when we returned home! We have a very strict schedule with Winston. He goes for a walk 3-6 miles depending on weather everyday. He sits at cross walks and driveways waits for a release word, stays close on main roads. Works on commands the last part of his walk is play and sniffing. We play fetch at the ball park ( his favorite) tug several times a day. He has time on his bed when meal are being prepared, scheduled meal times, outing and goes to work with Dad. We also have greeting rules posted on our front door, is it a lot? Yes, it is absolutely it is totally worth it!! We practice every command every day with our tools. It's getting easier but our Winston is a meatball! I'm sure Annabelle will share some stories of Winston the doodle who wants full credit for half the work! At the end of the day if you want a guarantee you need to do the work with your dog! Annabelle set the foundation for us and gave us the guidelines to follow for an amazing family dog!!! Just a little information - Atlas Working K9s is our trainer for the life for our dog, plus she offers pack socials,always has time for a behavioral question, classes and outing! I highly recommend Annabelle with Atlas Working K-9's, she gives a very hands-on training, she takes the dog in hand and shows you what you need to do, not just standing at a distance telling you what you need to do. Annabelle will keep showing you till you have it down and understand. She comes to your home to help your dog overcome their issues or learn obedience. She takes the time to break down the science behind the play-based training, and why it works. Which it really does! My Dog Kira and I started working with Annabelle back in March of this year. I had signed her up for the day camp board and train. I felt it would benefit my girl being in a setting where she got more than a few minutes of instruction in a group class. Well, my wonderful at the time 15-month-old German Shepherd was a bit too squirrely and neurotic to be focused enough to gain anything from the training. Now unlike most trainers who are just like oh she's doing good keep bringing her, Annabelle let me know this type of training isn't beneficial for my girl. So, she suggested to do "play based training" at home private lessons. It has a duration of 8 classes that help to focus on each level of obedience and engagement that will go at YOUR pace. If your dog needs a couple weeks to get the lesson down, no problem! Which really hit home for me as my life is constantly on the move and I will admit, I don't get to spend training her like I would every day. The play-based training method has developed a much better bond with my girl and has increased her reliability in recall and will actually look back to check in when we go for walks, when she is on her long line. My girl is not food motivated and she needed something to fire that excitement to work. Don't get me wrong, she LOVES freeze dried treats, just not enough to hold focus or attention in public. Not enough to even get her attention in public. However, having her favorite tug toy and working with her through play-based training, she's turning the corner of becoming the dog I know she can be. On December 5th 2020 we decided to expand our family with another puppy. Jäger had been our only dog for two years and when we brought home Moose, they became best friends for three weeks. After those three weeks, Jäger showed aggression to Moose two different times. I asked our current trainer for recommendations, where she said to keep them separate and have no interaction until she could come see them in person. On December 30th, we decided to try to have them interact again, both on leashes, and I set up my phone to record just in case. Jäger attacked Moose. I sent the video to the trainer who told me there was no hope for Jäger and that I could never trust him. The trainer also told me that Jäger was the most aggressive dog she has seen. I was terrified and lost at this point. I had no idea what to do and was scared of what could happen. I sought help elsewhere and got put in touch with Atlas Working K-9's. Annabelle gave me so much reassurance and hope that Jäger had a future, as long as we put in the work. Jäger did a board and train for 6 weeks with Annabelle. Upon completion of his board and train, I took Moose and went to pick up Jäger and do a couple training classes together. Jäger was a new dog, I was shocked. Upon going home we took it slow with reintegration of the dogs. Months of training and boundaries. It wasn't easy, but it was worth it. I have known Annabelle for almost 20 years and was elated when I learned that she was finally starting her own dog training company back in 2019. She had always been so helpful with my pups, clipping their nails, walking them with me, teaching me how to manage this and that. Annabelle has always adored animals, particularly dogs and you can see the joy in her and the dogs that have the pleasure of training with her. Annabelle recently, last week actually, helped get me through the death of my dog. A dog that she herself rescued years ago and allowed me to care for as she knew I would never give up on him. Annabelle watched a man kick this dog across a room, nearly breaking his hips (10+ years ago) and intervened against this man and rescued him. His name was Chuck and Annabelle not only picked me and my dying dog up from home at 11:30pm on a Saturday night, she drove us to Midnight Sun Animal Hospital and wept over my dog with me as he died. She talked to him, she told him that he will get to meet Jesus soon and that he would be whole again. He would be our "Chuck Chuck" again. Annabelle even paid the $545 expense. Dog training is more than just dog training. I have never met a trainer who is willing to walk through death as well. I have never met a trainer who will cry over my dying dog with me and assure us both that we are eternal souls and we will be ok. No trainer in Alaska can walk you through the training of your dog and the death of your dog like Annabelle can. Call her, you won't regret it. read more
