I have not had a good experience with Aleyeska Canine Trainers, although I know they have the best intentions. I think the staff/volunteers are not at all prepared for any dogs with behavior issues. I knew going into the first class that my dog was going to struggle, and I made sure to tell the front desk people that, they dismissed my reservations, saying, 'well that's why you're here'. Feeling better, I followed their instruction and brought my reactive one year old German Shepherd into a ring of chairs and dogs. She actually did pretty well until a super high energy pup came in and then she lost her composure and spent the rest of class pacing, barking, whining, and she and I were stuck in the back corner and behind a half wall trying to hear, not disrupt all of class, and me...not cry. It would be helpful if they got more information from each owner prior to class, this might have saved me and my dog the stress of this experience.
After that, I got a call from the instructor saying they thought my dog needed one on one training before returning to class (failure! -kicked out of obedience class) and gave me a trainer name and number. I called...never ever to hear anything back. I also called and left 3 messages requesting a refund of my class fee since I was finished after the first class and guess what....almost a month later, NO REFUND and NO CALL. That is unprofessional and inconsiderate.
If you have a well-behaved dog you want to learn commands and the most basic obedience, this may be the place for you. But if you're looking for additional help, look elsewhere. read more
