Stay away, they have the worst claims department. NO ONE and I cannot stress this enough NO ONE in…read morethe claims department is capable of making an intelligent decision even if presented with evidence from a veterinarian, not once, but twice! They also had the entire medical history of the pet. We provided them with two letters from the veterinarian stating that there were indeed TWO DIFFERENT cysts and even a diagram from the veterinarian indicating the location of each cyst. AKC pet insurance is underwritten by Independence American Insurance Company and Independence Pet Insurance Company. I'm not sure who the people in the claims department work for, so, I am also sending a link to this review and the evidence to the underwriting companies. My dog unfortunately developed a very large fluid cyst on her thorax (rib cage) that was about 6-7cm. We took her to our veterinarian, and she recommended that we have it removed, due to its size and location. The location of the new cyst was on her rib cage. We have AKC pet insurance, for now, this being a new cyst the removal should have been covered, right? NO, why? Because she also had an older smaller cyst on her shoulder that was 1-2 cm and was fatty tissue not fluid, they denied the claim for the removal of the larger cyst because they claimed that the "onset" of the large cyst was noted in April, this was not the case, the smaller cyst was noted in April as part of her yearly exam. We appealed the denial twice, that maximum number of times you can appeal a denial, provided the pet insurance company with letters from our veterinarian stating that there were two different cysts, and even a Canine Tumor Locator provided by our veterinarian showing the location of the cysts and still they denied the claim. Our veterinarian is great; she removed the smaller cyst at the same time she removed the larger one at no charge. She said I was already removing one, why not remove the other as well. I have blurred out her name and the animal hospital's name, because I don't have their permission to use their names. I have included an image of the Canine Tumor Locator and a photo of my dog's side after surgery.

This "insurance" company is a scam and a huge waste of money. Look elsewhere for decent pet…read morecoverage. All corporate bullsh*t responses to the reviews on here. People pay you a high premium every month and you find loopholes to deny paying claims for a majority of things unless we have added all the tons of additional coverage options to cover EVERY MINUTE SPECIFIC THING. You're preying on people and you know that. Horrific way to run a business and you should be ashamed of yourselves. Do better.

Delaying Tactics for payment and final denial of claim…read moreSigned up for Pet Insurance through my Employer. I choose Accident and Illnes Insurance. My dog had a anal glanz infection and later Breast cancer for a total of like $800 dollars. After months of delaying tactics and constantly asking for medical records even when i gave the the Animal Hospital address and detailed bill they finally denied the claim saying the Anal glanz is an exception to there policy and the breast cancer must have been there before i got thew insurance. I involved HR Department from my company and there have been several incidents with delaying until the consumer gives up bothering. This insurance is not worth the time and or money. Bad Insurance.
