We won't be going back to The Hound Hutt and it's not because of the quality of their dog grooming…read more And that folks, is the crazy reality, when the cut our dog got was actually one of the best grooms I've seen him have. Plus he's come home post-hair cut happy as Larry. They are clearly great with animals. Alas, we won't be taking him back to The Hound Hutt because, unbeknown to us, they only groom small dogs. When I called to book him in I advised his breed (groodle) and the booking was placed. Groodles are rarely considered small dogs. Even with our mutt being a "mini" he's 16kgs and as such probably not considered a small dog. When I arrived and the groomer, Alice, saw him she noted that he was much larger than they ever look after. Given we were already there, at 7:30am, she would groom him today but was pretty upfront they most likely wouldn't allow us to book with them again. So why am I writing this review? Because if you are the owner of a smaller dog (I'm guessing less than 10kg is their ideal), I'd recommend The Hound Hutt to you. The quality of cut and attention to the problem areas we wanted looked at were, as I mentioned, some of the best results I've seen in the three years we've been having our dog professionally groomed.

My dog is an 8 year old Lhasa Apso, she has had many haircuts in her life and this is hands down…read morethe worst she has ever had. Her fur was about 6cm long, it had started to get matted on her chest and under her stomach because I had had trouble brushing it. I have taken her to other groomers like this before and have never had a problem. My dog was taken to The Hound Hutt, a price of $60 was advised over the phone and then confirmed when she was dropped off. When she was picked up, the lady at the counter said it would be $100 because of the matting. I was never told about the extra charges and the dog was there with me when they confirmed $60. To cut the story short, after the lady at the counter (possibly could have been the owner) being quite rude about the situation, they charged $80 because it was the first time my dog had been there. As for the actual haircut, it is terrible! The fur on her back and top of her legs has been left at a length of 2cm like I asked, however, because of the matting the fur on her tummy and chest was shaved quite short. I completely understand the need to do this but the difference in length hasn't even been blended, it looks like her haircut isn't finished. If it was not possible to achieve a decent looking haircut with the longer fur on top and shaved underneath, I would have appreciated a suggestion to shave the lot or another solution. The haircut that the dog has been given is not at all acceptable. I'm not the expert - I trust the groomer to be the expert, do a good job and tell me if what I have asked for is not possible. I'll have to wait for her fur to grow back so I can take her to my usual groomer to fix it up.

Not a pet store, but a pet supply store. I like it!…read more It's big, clean and bright, staff are friendly, and chances are you'll find most anything you could ever want or need for most types of pets. This is sort of a new store. There was a similar shop here for many years, but new owners and a new look. They have a membership program for discounts and special deals, and you get some discount cards on signing up. I don't know, there's not a lot you can say about a place that sells your pet foods and supplies, but it beats going to a generic pet store, these guys have far more range. You can buy bettas (siamese fighting fish) here too, although there are other places I'd go for that in Brisbane.

Pet Stock at Clayfield is a fantastic pet supply store. I came here straight after adopting my cat…read morefrom the shelter that same day, to purchase all the essentials for her. We brought her into the store with us, and the staff were very friendly - giving her a cuddle and looking after her while we shopped around. We needed everything from cat food to flea treatments to scratchers and toys. A shop assistant walked around with us the entire time as we ticked everything off our list. She was very helpful and knowledgeable, making numerous suggestions for each item. We purchased a whole trolley full of products, as well as a large scratching tower, which the shop assistant helped us to carry to the car. I was very impressed that we were able to purchase everything we needed so quickly and effortlessly. I will definitely come here again!
