As a member, we often get credit back from past purchases at Petstock which can then be deducted from future purchases. This combined with regular sales on Master Canine's food of choice mean it is a conveniently located and value for money store. Much like most pet shop chains these days, their warehouse style shops are full with toys, food, coats, fish, cat goods and all that jazz. The staff here are ever helpful and it does make a difference.

The puppies at this particular Pets Paradise seem to be more of the "designer dog" type than those of the other Pets Paradises I have visited. The main four front cages usually only designate one to kittens (which are always gorgeous) and the rest to fashionable dogs, such as Pomchis (Pomeranian-Chihuahua crosses) and Maltipoos (Maltese-Poodle crosses). Such dogs go for anywhere between $400-$900 a pop. Or pup. (Sorry.) The store is packed with stuff for your pets, with some especially impressive jungle-gym arrangements for cats. There's also a wide range of dog treats if you own one of those rare dogs who don't like Smackos (mine is one). I've heard stories in the news about puppy farms (where dogs are illegally bread in inadequate conditions) and the large percentage of pet stores in Australia that buy from these farms. I sincerely hope Pets Paradise is not one of these stores.

It doesn't help that I once worked so many years ago for 1 week in a Pets Paradise similar to this…read moreone. It's the only one in the massive Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, and with the location right down the escalators and next to the new Harvey Norman, it isn't shy of people. The store is small, it's tiny, it gets crowded and there are puppies here usually that look so sad. The puppies also get rotated between the Pets Paradise if they aren't sold after a certain amount of time, and sadly Indooroopilly Pets Paradise have always had a lot of puppies that were bigger ones. Also, they tend to cram a fair few into the glass prisons they call pet windows and although i'm sure they tend to sell some puppies, I'm not a huge fan of the cramped environments they are selling dogs and cats in. There is quite a limited range of guinea pigs, birds and fish at the back of the store, if you can squeeze in, but just don't go there.

Well, you'd understand how easy it is to shop if you've been to Pet Café in Corinda. They have a huge wall full of toys of all sizes and have a massive selection of products suitable for all types of pets; dogs, cats, birds, guinea pigs, birds, fish, reptiles, mice, rats... Huh? Rats? I suppose it's good to know for all you rat owners out there! They have an array of treats for your lovable pet and there are so many bedding options for cats and dogs. The only problem is choosing. The one thing I don't like about this place is you walk in, the staff clearly see, but just ignore you to do other things. Ah, hello? I'm the only person in the pet store right now and you're ignoring me? Psshh. It's a 'pet' hate... I also found the name of the store a bit misleading, I actually expected table and chairs where you can sit with your pet and feed them treats while you enjoy a cappuccino. How silly of me! Not a bad idea though, right? If you are in the Western suburbs shopping around for your pet, you'd find they have a lot to offer here, the only thing you won't find however, is the customer service.

For some reason shopping for pets gets me really excited, but there was no cafe. Sad face! There is a huge array of products, clustered into this small space, really kind of crowded inside and they don't really sell any live things much in the way of puppies or kittens... but they do a mad dogwash every Saturday for really cheap that gets all the animals lining up. I wasn't too impressed with this place, but it is somewhere you can buy the premium dog food which is always good. Prices aren't too crazy cheap or crazy exxy, so it's good for what it's for.

Imagine this: over 20 years ago a teenage Teagin Henderson applied for, and was selected to fill, a position we had for a receptionist and general office duties. She lived at Paddington with her parents, which was a bonus, as our office, Lape & Partners, was located in Petrie Terrace, about five minutes away. We loved Teagin's energy, warmth and genuine nature. Then, one day, she told of us her desire to be a dog trainer and was moving to Melbourne to pursue a course degree in it, with an optimal view of working with our border patrol and customs declarations. But, and there's always a but, that didn't quite work out and she relocated back to Brisbane opening a dog grooming salon in Bardon. And while I admired the move and success she was achieving, my wife was the one who chose the groomer for our Westies, until recently. With her away overseas, along with our usual groomer, and our Westie Pippa in need of serious stripping, I had the liberty of booking her in with Four Paw. And, so, it's become full circle. We had Pippa in today for a stripping and she looks fabulous. The amount of hair removed is quite remarkable and she looks sleeker and fitter than ever, which she was but hidden under a thick coat of fur. It's a pleasure to see someone truly achieving their goals and dreams and then to reconnect with them to experience it personally. It is truly a humbling and awesome feeling and to think we were there, at the inception of Teagin's future thinking, and then to experience it today, was a fulfilling experience few will ever have. He was…read moremost recently booked into Four Paw in Bardon on the recommendation of friends who's Schnauzer always looks dapper and well coiffed. In between groomers, our four-legged charge had nothing to loose. I was lucky to be able to get a free spot. Let it be know these guys are popular and are, for example, already booked out for December. I took that as the sign of a good dog groomer. The second sign was how happy the furball was when he was picked up. He'd been able to wander the salon while he waited for us to collect him, and the cut was one of the best I've seen him have. And when they ask you to re-book for 8 weeks take it - they book out mighty fast.
