She is the only groomer that Moses has ever loved. He actually runs to her door and he has never done that with anyone else. I have used two groomers in Noosa and one in Brisbane (Newstead). He would shake like crazy if we were even within two blocks of these other places. He was so heartbreaking​. Judy only grooms little dogs and I love that. Plus he's come home post-hair cut happy as Larry. They are clearly great with animals. Alas, we won't be taking him back to The Hound Hutt because, unbeknown to us, they only groom small dogs. When I called to book him in I advised his breed (groodle) and the booking was placed. Groodles are rarely considered small dogs. Even with our mutt being a "mini" he's 16kgs and as such probably not considered a small dog. When I arrived and the groomer, Alice, saw him she noted that he was much larger than they ever look after. Given we were already there, at 7:30am, she would groom him today but was pretty upfront they most likely wouldn't allow us to book with them again. So why am I writing this review? Because if you are the owner of a smaller dog (I'm guessing less than 10kg is their ideal), I'd recommend The Hound Hutt to you. The quality of cut and attention to the problem areas we wanted looked at were, as I mentioned, some of the best results I've seen in the three years we've been having our dog professionally groomed.

Her fur was about 6cm long, it had started to get matted on her chest and under her stomach because I had had trouble brushing it. I have taken her to other groomers like this before and have never had a problem. My dog was taken to The Hound Hutt, a price of $60 was advised over the phone and then confirmed when she was dropped off. When she was picked up, the lady at the counter said it would be $100 because of the matting. I was never told about the extra charges and the dog was there with me when they confirmed $60. To cut the story short, after the lady at the counter (possibly could have been the owner) being quite rude about the situation, they charged $80 because it was the first time my dog had been there. As for the actual haircut, it is terrible! The fur on her back and top of her legs has been left at a length of 2cm like I asked, however, because of the matting the fur on her tummy and chest was shaved quite short. I completely understand the need to do this but the difference in length hasn't even been blended, it looks like her haircut isn't finished. If it was not possible to achieve a decent looking haircut with the longer fur on top and shaved underneath, I would have appreciated a suggestion to shave the lot or another solution. The haircut that the dog has been given is not at all acceptable. I'm not the expert - I trust the groomer to be the expert, do a good job and tell me if what I have asked for is not possible. I'll have to wait for her fur to grow back so I can take her to my usual groomer to fix it up.

I recently found A & S Grooming Salon at Carseldine who offer a $5.50 weekend hydrobath special. At A & S your precious pooch will be pampered with a bath and blow dry, style cut and have his/hair nails clipped and ears cleaned. The prices are pretty high starting at $50 for small dogs like Chihuahuas and Pomeranians and up to $90 for bigger breeds of dogs such as a St Bernard or Newfoundland (more expensive than my last style cut!). A mini groom (which is what my lovely Staffy, Rani experienced on her visit) will set you back $35 which I think is pretty good value.

They don't have that many products for fish, especially the ones that I've been recommended by people who've looked after fish for years, but they do have enough to get you started. They are friendly and helpful. They usually have puppies crammed into windows, something that I'm ethically opposed to, and I have no idea where they source these puppies from. I hope that one day they will switch to helping local shelters rehome animals that are already in existence and at risk of being killed. Always adopt!

monica the lady that helped me today was very nice and very helpful…read more i am a foster carer for cats through an animal rescue that dont have a PTS system which is very good. not sure how lond pet peeps have actually been around for but their puppies and kittens/cats are all rescued animals and if they arent coping well in the windows then they get fostered out again. they are in the pet shop so more people see them rather then just online. i dropped off a rescue kitty today and monica let me know that the longest they have had any pets in there is 5 days if they notice they arent coping then back to their foster carers which is awesome :)
