I went in there to get some really robust chew toys for a dog I was watching for a few days. We brought our hyperactive 1-year-old pug to get a new leash and harness. We had been to the big box store nearby and they had a very limited selection. There was also a shortage of people on the floor to help us. At this store, the people working there were super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Lauren showed us 3 options for our puppy Estrella. Like most pugs, our pup has a small head and neck and a larger body. "Patient" does not begin to describe how Lauren handled the situation. She spent a lot of time resizing each option. The one we wound up with is fun and fits her perfectly. We love this store. We've been coming here for years and the service is always consistent and the selection is great. read more

Accessibility: this place has handicap parking right in front of the store, a ramp to get up the sidewalk, doors that are propped open, and regular shopping carts inside the front of the store for you to use and lean on while shopping. The store employees are also very nice and I have heard them offer to help carry out items before. If you ask for help, I know they would help. The employees here are very approachable and kind. They also have a bathroom in the back right side of the store. Experience: again, the employees here are awesome. They are also LGBT+ friendly! This store has a large variety of things for all types of pets...dogs, cats, fish, reptiles, etc. They have beds for all different types of animals, toys, dental care products, cages/kennels/tanks, collars, harnesses, leashes, CBD products, flea/tick prevention, TONS of food for pets, cooling mats and things to help in summer heat, and sooooo much more. If I took photos of all the cool and useful things here, I would have a million photos! You can also bring your pets in here as you shop of course. The only down side to this place is how much things cost, but it is still cheaper than Petco. Overall I do love this place and I will continue to shop here! I'm rarely impressed by companies these days, but the manager at Pets Plus is superior!! She truly cares about assisting with all my fur babies needs. Along with my 3 dogs, I also foster puppies so we use a wide range of supplies. She's a wealth of information and eager to help! It's also refreshing to see a company that truly does help with local rescue organizations and donate supplies to homeless people with pets. Now more than ever, we need to support the "Mom and Pop" shops! I realize it's sometimes easier to purchase from the larger companies, but it's certainly worth going the extra mile to support them!!!! read more

Pets Plus is a small Southern California chain that caters to the Anti-corporate pet store folk... I needed a dewormer for a cat and PetSmart's entire inventory was stolen. The PetSmart guy said that pet med theft is pretty common there but upper management doesn't want to lock up the packages. Their loss I guess, because I had to go to Pets Plus.. I also needed to come to Pets Plus to get some mosquito eaters for a small barrel pool. They had them and they were free. BTW mosquito eaters not only love to munch on mosquito larva they also eat black widow nests. In the end, Pets Plus is smaller and more expensive than the big box stores. I would bet that the majority of people that shop here are perfectly fine with that. For me, I'd say their service makes it worth the few extra dollars. Recently my father passed away and I was struggling to find a place for my dog to go while I processed my dad's passing. Always liked the convenience of this store but can't understand the store policy of not being able to use a coupon if the item is on sale. Just paid $2 more for food that was "on sale" than it would have been at regular price with the mailer coupon. I would think the customer would be given the lowest price sale or not. So happy to find a boutique brand pet food store in Escondido! I've been trekking to Del Mar to buy my dog food but now I don't have to. Pets Plus sells all of the same brands as they do at other specialty stores, including raw options. The atmosphere isn't quite as fun as other boutique stores; it's very crowded inside because the store is quite small, but the pricing and selection is great. I'm a fan of this store. Not only is it close to home but they always have a lot of products to choose from. I like browsing here when I am in the shopping center. When my dog had her birthday, I took her here to get her a nice birthday present. The staff were all great to her. They kept trying to give her a treat but she's really scared to take anything. I went recently and I went straight to the dog food. I have been trying to steer clear from the beneful brand so I have been looking for a new dog food for my dog. They recommended the one that they felt was healthy and had great comments about so I am trying it with my dog now. She's still super picky but eating it when she feels like it. So this place rocks they just employ dumb ass people. I had just made the decision to stop shopping at PetCo to help a local business. While being in a parking lot I saw a guy throw a half cigarette out his window. I picked up while he was still in the car and put it under his windshield wiper to try and get him to be accountable. I just received the most incredible customer service from Pets Plus on Felicita. I normally shop at Kahoots, just because it's a name we have been used to. I ran into Pets Plus one day because I needed something quick. Everyone was nice. Today, I went back to buy my regular dog stuff because they are actually a little closer to me than Kahoots. I was greeted by Cathie. Even though she was wearing a mask, you can see her smile! Her smile shines through her mask! You know some people just have that amazing energy when you meet them? She has that! I was kind of struggling to control my 5 months old "training in progress" Malinois, but Cathie casually interacted with my Malinois to help ease the situation. There was another dog in the store, so my playful Malinois was super excited. Cathie eloquently guided us to another aisle to avoid issues. She then stayed with me the entire time helping me grab everything that I needed. Her love for my puppy was genuine; you can tell she is a true pet lover. Cathie was not judgmental even when my pup decided to knock over a basket of beef jerky ‍ She made the shopping experience so much easier than it would have been. She even carried all my goods to the car. Cathie is young, but carries herself so gracefully. She was beyond helpful and caring. I have seen too many working in retail that do not possess the passion Cathie does to create a superior experience for their customers. My cat is on a grain-free diet, by recommendation of her vet. So I always buy my cat's food here. Such a large variety of dry and wet cat food and most of it seems to be grain free! They also seem to have a very wide variety of dog food as well! Accessories from dishes and mats, to leashes and collars of all different sizes and colors! The staff is super nice. We WOOF Pets PLus! The minute I walk in the door all the way to the time I leave the staff ALWAYS makes sure I have everything thing I need and ALWAYS asks me if I need help (carrying something and/or finding something). Recently my dog was diagnosed with a heart condition and I have had to completely change his food, feeding habits, treats etc. The staff there is MORE than accommodating. Not only do they suggest items and know how it may help him , and me price wise, but if they don't have the item they will call the distributor and get it for me! Then they make sure to call me when it comes in! Although I don't live close and I am not sure there is another Pets Plus in San Diego. I promise, the customer service and the price is worth the drive. I don't support Large chain stores as this store will get you anything and everything you need :)!!! read more

The employee Maggy was so helpful! I forgot my dogs leash and harness at home, so I was stopping by to buy a new one. I had to leave my dog in the car with the AC running, and Maggy let me bring him inside to try out several different harnesses and helped me walk him around the store to find the best one for him. We literally tried on over 5 different harnesses and she helped size them, and walked him so I could see how it worked. Maggy was calm and patient with me and my 100 lb German Shepherd that's only 7 months old. Most people get frustrated or scared of him because he's so big but Maggy totally understood the puppy phase and gave me advice on best supplements for his hips because his breed is so prone for hip dysphasia. I could definitely trust her knowledge in the product and recommendations. In addition, this store sells all brands of food, especially the one I buy for my dog, which you can't find at most pet stores! Because of this great experience, I will always go back there! Came in for the first time for Fromm dog food which isn't always easy to find. Appeared to be a boutique pet food & supply store but with competitive prices which I was thrilled about. I was happy to support small business so I elected to come here rather than to a bigger chain store. I walked in and there was a man at the register, he didn't acknowledge me at all. I probably spent a good 8 minutes in the back of the store before I had to go seek him out for assistance finding something. But, to the rescue came a young short-haired brunette gal who was professional and personable. She saw me in an aisle and began to engage with me. She offered some dog food transition education which I thought was nice. My hands were also full and she offered to hold everything for me. She was a ray of sunshine. I'm sorry I didn't get her name but she saved the day because I'm not sure I would have returned had she not been there to just "take the time" and check on me. I'm not a needy customer and I try not to harbor any expectations, however, it is nice when businesses convey salutations upon arrivals and/or departures. The store is clean and organized and easy to find.
