Update: after all of the terrific work that Amaya's did for us in 2021 (see below) and again in…read more2023 when we did our kitchen renovation, we were very pleased to refer them to our son and daughter-in-law to remove carpeting and install LVP tiles in their large first floor closet. After returning from a two week trip to see relatives, they learned their cat had used this carpeted closet as a personal litter box resulting in a horrible odor that permeated their home. Despite a busy schedule, Amaya's was able to remove all carpeting and instruct these novice homeowners on how to use KILZ primer to paint some unfinished wood before returning to install the beautiful LVP tiles. Odor is now gone and their closet looks better than when brand new--all done quickly and for a very fair price. Thank you to Luis Amaya and his crew! This family owned business does outstanding work and keeps customer satisfaction as their highest priority. In 2021 Amaya's Flooring removed all floor surfaces on both levels of our house and installed oak wood flooring throughout. We have been very happy with the beautiful wood floors that Amaya's Flooring installed for us. We had just purchased a house and wanted all carpeting and existing wood floors removed so that there would be a great flow between rooms on both levels. The end result is just what we were hoping to achieve! Luis was truly wonderful to work with on every aspect of this job--always prompt, responsive, friendly, and courteous along with sending a terrific crew to do the work. Their retail store personnel were great as well. What really amazed us was that Luis beat all deadlines and got this job done in a very limited time before we had to vacate our temporary rental. We highly recommend Amaya's Flooring without any reservation!

It was such a pleasure working this family owned business. We started looking at floor materials…read morelast Sept. but didn't actually complete the installation until March. We stopped looking during the holidays and resumed again after the holidays. We were never once pressured to hurry and find the materials. They let us borrow as many samples as needed. It took us awhile to find the perfect match. They even educated us on how to find the best quality for what we can afford. The installation was complete from start to finish in 2.5 days! The crew were punctual and respectful. They communicated well with us and answered all our questions. I highly recommend this business.

There was a problem with the sod (dead spots appearing after only 2 days) but this was the sod farmer's quality control problem, not the landscaper's fault. Pedro came out again and replaced the dead patches and made everything right. He's very communicative and will answer his phone or return calls promptly. Pedro was true to his word on pricing and his prices are very fair. His crew cleans up when they're done and they leave everything better than it was when they arrived. These people are honest and hard working; I will certainly be using this company again and I'd highly recommend them.

Avoid this outfit at all costs! I hired them to do some cleanup in the backyard of a house in…read moreBelleville, NJ we had rented for five years. Since I was in the process of moving to Massachusetts, I wasn't physically there to oversee the work. Big mistake. I needed them to empty a large number of garden pots and a small raised garden bed, distribute the soil throughout the yard and generally prep the backyard to be seeded. Instead, according to our landlady, dirt was piled up against the deck to where, over time, it would cause serious damage to the deck and unevenly and haphazardly dumped anywhere. Repeated calls, emails and text messages to Maria, who speaks for the company, insisting they fix the problem bore no fruit whatsoever. After initially agreeing to get the crew to the house to fix things immediately, she stopped taking my calls or responding to my electronic messages. Nothing was ever done, and our landlady was forced to hire someone to fix the terrible work Family Landscaping left undone. I paid them a LOT of money to do the work, but they chiseled us. These people are not at all trustworthy, nor do they care about doing a quality job. They deserve less than no stars -- if anything, take whatever stars they have away.

The edging of the grass, the weeding, and everything in between is done with care and looks very sharp. The only downfall is communication is hard. Not sure if he is very busy with lots of work, or if it just takes a while but through texting it can take a bit to hear back. I'm willing to allow this because this company does such great work.

I will try to sum it up. He asked me to pay in advance $550 ($350 for the stump and $200 for the tree). I paid him in cash. He didn't show up to his scheduled appointments several times over the corse of a month even after being paid and when he did come he only ground the stump. He then asked me for more money. I told him I already paid you the $550 he said, "no you paid me $350 for the stump and it was a big stump the $200 was for the tree." I replied "yes, but you didn't cut the tree down." He said, "but I'm going to come back in a few day and cut the tree." At this point he said he had worked for 8 hours and that he wanted another 700 dollars. I agreed to giving him another $400, because honestly, I felt intimidated and didn't feel like I had any choice. He then texted me the next day and asked me to pay him another $50 in labor and $35 for the maintenance on the machine he rented upon removal of the tree. After paying him $950 and still didn't have the job done I checked my security cameras and found out that he was only here for 6 hours not 8 and that he was on the phone for the first 2 hours and then left abruptly on day one in the middle of the project; so he only worked for about 4 hours thats $237.5 per hour!!! He never returned to cut the tree down. I ended up getting someone else to cut it down after a few more weeks of waiting and two more missed appointments on his end. He ghosted me on the $200 and steeply over-charged me on the stump. Way to take advantage. I would never recommend him.
