Place looks dingy and run down. No music playing and a weird smell. We ended up only ordering appetizers to be nice to the server. The greek salad is ok, the lettuce was brown and tasted kind of old. I had a pleasant experience at Petra. The waiter/bartender (possibly owner?) was so sweet and welcoming. She was super attentive. I had the salmon over spinach and added mushrooms. When I tell you that was top 5 best salmon I've ever eaten. It was so flavorful and moist. It was PERFECTLY seasoned and cooked. The spinach, veggies, and potatoes were an excellent touch of freshness. I will definitely be back for the salmon. The Caesar salad was also divine. In fact, I think it's the best Caesar salad I've tried. The dressing is slightly more tart than other Caesar dressings; however, it's tart in the most palate-pleasing way. The cheese was abundant and fresh, and the romaine was crisp and fresh. I did not try the redfish but our family friend was satisfied. Finally, the warm rolls with that butter are enough to start a fight over for the last roll. I ate 3 at the table, which I never do. They're so light, buttery, and are served warm. The butter is possibly a whipped garlic butter concoction. I had to stop eating them. Overall, I really enjoyed our dinner. Do not be thrown off by the dated decor--some of the best food comes from places like these. My only hangup is the imported seafood. I'm not a big fan of imported seafood, in general. However, I do not think that takes away from the restaurant if you're looking for a great meal. And I'm mindful that domestic costs are often (and are growing) financially infeasible for some restaurants. Great spot!! read more

While visiting Laplace, LA, I checked for seafood in the area which led me to Petra's the location was clean and atmosphere was decent but I did a take out order. The was prepared nicely and seasoned well (not too salty) but it wasn't enough food for the price. We had a shrimp plate for $20 and might've only had 8-9 medium sized shrimp on the plate and a hand full of shoestring fries. I won't go back unless the portion sizes are increased. read more

Walking in location has an old feel to it...could use updating. Immediately greeted and seated. Food was really good for Laplace. My husband got Chicken Parm and found the sauce to be watery, could have been from the pasta not being strained long enough. I enjoyed the calamari and the shrimp Alfredo. Portion sizes are very nice! Food has potential to be awesome. Tables would be nice with some fresh flowers on the table and better lighting. Will come back and try lunch. read more

Wait staff was very attentive I ordered the calamari as an appetizer it came really fast. And was hot and tasted perfect . I got the 14 ounce sirloin medium rare had garlic butter on top and a baked potato and it came with vegetables I didn't want to eat. But lawd let me tell you steak was perfect baked tater well you can't mess it up it was perfect now let's got to the vegetables it was green beans squash carrots and zucchini. I don't like zucchini but I eat every bit of it the vegetables we very good all in all my experience at this restaurant was absolutely flawless I left full and happy. I couldn't of asked for a better meal. Honestly there is nothing to complain about. If I had it to do all over again I'd get the same thing and eat every bit of it. read more

The only negative is the decor, it is outdated. Food was wonderful. I am a good snob and they did an excellent job. We tried this place last year and it was not good at all. Today they redeemed themselves. They managed to cook a thin ribeye for my husband with such a beautiful crust and it was a perfect medium rare. My filet, shown in the picture, was so tender and flavorful. My baked potato was fluffy and hot all the way through; not one cold spot nor raw spot. Thanks for a wonderful meal. read more

My husband and I were greeted immediately upon entering. Our waitress was nice. I ordered wine and my husband ordered a beer. We also ordered our appetizer at this time. My husband received his beer, I had to ask for my wine, and received it well after our appetizer. We had to ask for utensils, which we received well after our appetizer, because she didn't come back to check on us for about 5 min. However, the appetizer was good, not great, but good. My husband had shrimp St Charles and I had the Chicken Picata not pasta, extra veggies, add mushrooms. The food was very bland. Tasteless. I had to add lemons to my Picata. If you know anything about Picata, you know it's a lemon wine sauce with capers and it full of flavor. Over all, I would not recommend this establishment. I wouldn't eat here again. read more

It's my daughter's 14th birthday, so we decided going to a family oriented restaurant in our neighborhood. We loved food, delicious and the waitress was sweet; however, the problem was the owner. He greeted to every table each time walked by but not us. We felt really unwelcome even though this was my second time have been here personally. Service was terrible, waitress had an attitude, 3 hours for us to get our food, the price was too high for the portion of food received, couldn't request our food the way we wanted it. I gave it a one star because the inside was clean in the dining area and restroom. This is all that was right about this restaurant. Good evening, I had and interesting experience with a togo order. I made an order of stuff shrimp, andouille gumbo and pasta St Charles( shrimp pasta) When I get home I realize there is no rice with the gumbo and the pasta was wrong, it was a chicken and sausage pasta. One plus the stuff shrimp was amazing. I decide to call to ask if they normally do not serve rice with their gumbo and that I was given the wrong pasta. The girl who answered stated that you have to request rice, which is a new one for me, who makes you request rice for gumbo. She was not concerned at all about me receiving the wrong pasta. She stated that she was the only one working the bar and could not help. I did not push the issue just said thank you. Lesson learned! read more

This is by far the best restaurant in La Place. Service in outstanding. You must try this place. Real nice large bar. Has live entertainment. Call them for dates. The Petra pasta is to die for. I tried most things on the menu and it is all great but my favorite is the red fish or red snapper with petra sauce on top. Go, you won't regret it. read more

This was worst place I have ever been too. The bar restroom was similar to an outpost gas station restroom. Smelled like is hadn't been cleaned in weeks. I knew then I should have left right away. My steak came out cooked on one side. I left as quickly as I could, that was a nightmare. read more

I've been to Petra's for lunch several times. The food is always great and very fresh. The serving sizes are very large. The staff are extremely friendly giving great service. Had a post SCC graduation party for 45 people at Petra's in LaPlace last night. Totally HORRIBLE experience. It was booked it two months ago, and verified two weeks ago. So they KNEW how many people to expect. Meals were to include desserts. Most, including myself, were told we would only get a small portion of dessert because they didn't have enough. At least 6 people got no dessert at all because they ran out. It seemed to be an inexperienced wait staff to handle this size group. Some did not get their meals until others at their table were already finished with theirs. I asked for bread when the salad was served. It came right before the tiny dessert after asking a few times for it. Drinks served with no ice and we waited a LONG TIME until ice was delivered. We ended up getting two glasses of ice for 6 people to share. Again, they knew the size of the party that was coming and they seemed totally unable to handle this group. Not the experience you would expect for a high school graduation party. I, and several others, swore we would NEVER patronize this sorry excuse for a restaurant again. read more
