Don't bring your dog to this store if he's/she's 90lbs or more. I took my German Shepard in today he's 93lbs . And they wanted to charge me $100. When usually they charged me between $75-$90 depending what I'm asking to do for him. The lady just went to straight $100 even without me asking what I wanted to do. What I wanted was to bathe him, trim the end tips on the back of his thighs that was all. I had to call to see if he was ready. I called around 5pm. I dropped him off at 9:45am. When I came to pick him up he looked and smelled exactly the same. He was still biting myself and scratching himself continuously like when he is dirty. Only difference was he smelled a bit like lavender for like 5mins. This ain't the first time something was off about him, when I picked him up from this store.Waste of time and waste of money.I know what's the smell of the spray of lavender is, because I have a bottle of the spray. I love the grooming service. You can either wait for your puppy or drop off and shop at the 99¢ store next door. Or go run some errands- Vicky took my cell phone number down and called me when she was done. I was very happy with the grooming service she provided to my dachshund. The store is what it is. Lots of fishes, lots different animals. I do agree that somethings could be done better. I do feel bad that the puppies are in cages with wire at the bottom. They have no mat to sleep on. They sleep on wire, pee on wire, poop on wire and eat and drink on wire. I do hope they at least let them run around the store when they close...although I'm sure they don't. The owner personally helped and showed me all the available styles for this size. There was one that I liked however it's a bit higher (taller) than what my measurements so the owner did offered me a customize order and gave a good price too. However I will check around first to see if I can get the stand this weekend otherwise I will come back to place a special order. read more

Best pet shop in the area! They carry all types of animals, guinea pigs, hamsters, bunnies,birds,fish, reptiles feeder mice/rats, reptiles, dogs and cats. I come here for all my pet needs, they carry everything you could need at a good price! The employees here are knowledgeable and friendly! I've even seen the owner tutor an employee about some of the animals, its great that the employees are being trained on the animals so they can answer any possible questions customers can have. UPDATE: I came here to purchase food for my bunny and decided to walk around and couldn't believe the smell- it was absolutely HORRIBLE. I peeked inside the cages of the feeder rats and there are rats eating each other!!!!! Literally eating each other. There are pieces of half eaten rats inside the cages!!! Those rats are eating each other because they are hungry!!! Poor babies! Feed them!!! They had a puppy husky inside a tiny metal wire bottom cage with a thin blanket to cover the wire. They also had several kittens inside the same size metal wire cage with just a littler box and the same thin blanket. The poor kittens were sitting inside the dirty litter box with feces, I'm assuming because the wire from the cage hurts to lay on! I've been here so many times before and I have never seen it like this!! I will not be coming back and will not give this business my money. read more

I took my dog to get groomed here and they said they couldn't finished through with the whole grooming a high was simply cutting his nails and trimming his hair a bit more. They should really hire a more professional groomer. Not to mention he was still wet from some spots of his body, I still had to pay full price!!! Took my dog here at 9:30AM for grooming and a flea bath and they didn't get him done till 7:30PM, which was an hour and a half after their Sunday closing time. One girl said he would be ready at 5 or 6 which makes me wonder why the appointment time is so early if they won't groom him or finish till way later. They never contacted us and when I called them in regards to it at 4PM, they said he would be ready "soon". I'm not sure why they schedule a bunch of dogs and only have one or two groomers, making the waiting times long. Better to take your pets elsewhere read more

I am flabbergasted. I went to "Pet N Joy" in Gardena to get crickets for my bearded dragon. I see a guinea pig in the same cage as a rabbit. So I ask the clerk "Why do you have them in the same cage...do the two get along?" He responds with "Sometimes". So I tell him to separate them...then he tells me "They will evolve together". And I swear to God he honestly thought they could "evolve together". I almost lost my cool. I urge everyone to boycott this business as they have sickly animals all the time. I have seen roaches in cages, 14 bearded dragons in one (10 gallon) terrarium. No regard for the animals whatsoever. If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. read more

Do not shop here! It is atrocious what they subject these animals to. 3 adult bearded dragons in a 20 gallon tall? Leopard geckos with no hide and Uvb light?! Decided to try the grooming since a read a good Yelp review. Never again will I bring my dog here to get groomed they charged me $55 and my dogs hair was uneven, her nails were never clipped and I am sure she was not given a bath. Groomed looked overwhelmed and the tiny room was too hot to have dogs. Worst hair cut ever. I went on a Sunday and the normal groomed was not there so maybe it's better during the week. read more

This place is great if you wanna find some frogs or reptiles. They also have grooming in the back and lots of pet supplies. However, there are puppies in the front of the store in a super small cage. They're shivering and crying because they hardly get any interaction. The man that runs the place doesn't bother to get them a blanket at all and seems very indifferent towards them. I came here to get some cat flea shampoo, came here because yelp said it was the nearest store. The store has a wide variety of fish as well as a large variety of reptiles and reptile supplies. They have a handful of puppies which I think could have been kept in a better environment. They don't have much for dogs or cats, but I did purchase a shampoo that was recommended by an employee. After calling every groomer in town I was presently surprised when Petnjoy agreed to shave my cat. The groomer Vicky that is there is the BOMB!!! She gave my cat the best lion cut ever! I took my dog to get groomed at PetNJoy it was an awful experience, I picked up my 2 dogs and when I got home I noticed one of my dogs couldn't open her eye all the way, and then after examining her, there were 2 cuts above her eye. The groomer did not mention this to me. I called the next day to talk with the groomer and I spoke with a groomer, a woman but the guy groomer wasn't there, and then I spoke with the manager, and he said he would have the groomer call me, it has been almost 2 weeks and no phone call, no apology, NOTHING....SO NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

NOT RECOMENDED FOR GROOMING!!!! I brought my Dog here for a basic Haircut. I asked the groomer to cut him short but not so short that you can see his skin... (He has Pink skin and its not a good look for him) I scheduled my appointment for Noon on a Saturday. I was told that it would take 2-3 hours. They store the Dogs in Typical Petstore type cages when they are waiting... I called back at 3:45 and they hadn't started yet... My Dog was in the cage for almost 4 hours and they hadn't started... they said it would be another hour and a half... when I Called back at 5:30 and they said that they were still Wrapping up and needed another 15 minutes... I decided to stop waiting and just go to pick him up.... when I got there... My Poor dog was in a Cage with a Power Fan Blowing right next to him... They brought him out... Low and behold my dog was Pink... Clearly after 6 hours the groomer had forgotten my direction and shaved my dog nearly down to his skin... that is forgivable... he didn't seem to touch the tail and there were missed chunks on his chest... that is sloppy... My dog has been home for 3 days now... and he is not himself... I don't know what kind of handling they did to him but he now yelps every time i put his collar on... shakes all day long and is clearly shaken by the experience of getting his hair Cut at Pet N Joy. I will never take him back and caution anyone else to getting their dog groomed here. read more

This shop abuses its pets. The lizards are kept in small tanks. One of the bearded dragons was showing dominance and ate off the edge of the tail of another. Fish are kept in tiny, dirty tanks. And to make it worse, there are puppies held in tiny kennels with no water. All of the puppies looked sedated; none even responded to people. Do not shop here until they shape up. read more

STAY AWAY! READ THIS BEFORE GOING TO THIS PLACE!! I don't even know where to begin..The place seems decent (according to their yelp review) but if you read all their reviews seems like their good days are over. The good reviews were from a couple of years ago but all the bad reviews are pretty recent, and i'll tell you why; I went to this store about a week ago or so, The first thing you'll notice is the smell of the place..if you go to a pet shop and it smells that bad, that's a clear red flag! I've been to almost every pet shop in SoCal and this place had the worst smell! As soon as i walked in i saw 2 employees talking to each other by the counter, i greeted them with a smile, the guy on the counter looked at me, didn't say a word, didn't greet me, didn't smile at me or anything, just pretty much turned his head and resumed talking to the other employee as if i wasn't even in there..but whats even crazy is that I was the only customer in the place..the ONLY costumer! And they didn't even bother to greet me..what kind of customer service was that? another red flag right? right there and then i felt like just walking out, and honestly i should've..Anyway, i went to look around and this place is the DIRTIEST and the most unorganized pet shop i have ever seen! Those 2 employees could have at least cleaned the place up (even just a little) but instead they were being lazy and the were just chatting as if they weren't at work. The animals looked like they were in real bad shape, specially the dogs! All the animals were kept in small dirty cages! The dogs looked sad and miserable, i don't know who in their right mind would buy a dog from here, the impound dogs looks healthier than the dogs here..The fishes were crowded, the small mammals and the reptiles looks sick and they were not kept in proper condition! Different species of reptiles were kept in the same cage! I felt really really bad for all the pets i saw, they looked like they were near death, just pure neglect! I wouldn't be surprised at all if someone buys a pet from here and it dies on them after a few days! I asked one of the employees for assistance to check something out and the guy didn't even bother standing up and stayed on the counter and literally DID NOT HELP ME AT ALL, he told me how much it was but that wasn't my question! Obviously, he wasn't paying attention!..like what the hell? The employees here NEEDS to get fired!!!!! Or better yet, this place should just close up! It seems like none of them cares about the animals! why work at a pet shop if you don't like taking care of animals? This place is just ridiculously unbelievably terrible!! Easily the WORST pet shop i have ever seen! And thats saying a lot! I travel a lot and i have been to A LOT of pet shops from different state and this tops the list of "Worst Pet Shop"! Someone needs to call animal care or something and report this place! If you buy an animal from this place thinking you're "rescuing" a pet, think again! This place had me furious, so I take my dog in to get his nails clipped I was asked to walk down the aisle while the man cut his nails. I walked toward the back and from the grooming room (which at first I hadn't payed attention or noticed the little room until...) I heard two loud smacks, followed by a dog Yelp not just a uncomfortable but like a pain cry I looked over through the window making eye contact with the young man and right away he tried to play it off by gently picking up the puppy in the dog bath and saying it's ok puppy let me give you a bath, I had sum unpleasant words for him and told him if he couldn't deal with the animals why work this job. Imagine had the owner of that puppy known, I'm positive they would not be ok with this mistreatment and abuse of their animal. However that wasn't my only incident. I continue to walk now toward the wall of fish where I was disgusted to see only two fish tanks had a working filter, even though every tank had a minimum of 8 to 12 fish of per tank all the fish if they weren't already dead were slowly dying or at the top trying to survive. So I walked to the front amd told the Asian man none of his filters we're on and majority of his fish we're already dead what she replied no that's okay there working there on that fine I'm just medicated my fish I was like what does that mean and to me it did not look like you're filtersl work so I then asked him would he sell me one of the kois he has he walked to the back of the store look at the fish and wasn't wanting to sale me the fish so I don't understand but I do know they do not care for the animals I was really annoyed to have seen such ignorance. read more
