I went to Petland to look at puppies with my friend. She is over 18 and I am younger than 18. But the rules are that you can pull a dog to play with it in one of the at least one person is over 18. My friend forgot her ID, which is understandable why we wouldn't be able to play with the dogs. Because there is no proof that she's actually over 18. But the worker was EXTREMELY rude. IMPORTANT: THEY SELL SICK PUPPIES I just want to warn people on a few things. For one, they are unclear on their prices. I think because no one would look if they were or so they can just make it up, idk. Our husky was 4900. We should have said no, but it's hard once you see them and hold them. The staff told us several different things in store and besides one employee, it did not seem like anyone knew what they were talking about. There is no vetting process to ensure they go to a good home. They offer financing but when you fill it out, we were told it was just for one place. They ran our credit for multiple places and signed us up for a credit card, which I am pretty sure is illegal but the manager tried to play it off like "oh yeah, they should have told you that." 2nd and most important. THEY SELL SICK PUPPIES. Probably from a puppy mill due to the nature of the illness and our vet advises that this is a well known issue with Petland pets. They will try to tell you that they have a warranty but you have to jump through hoops for this and it doesn't cover parasites, parvo, etc. My puppy was diagnosed with coccidia and giardia. I have had him one week and he is an inside dog, so it is nothing he got here. Both are from contaminated water/feces. Considering he came to petland at 8 weeks old, there is no way they got from a reputable breeder and if so it's a them problem. Either way, that is not a good look and their "vets" should have had this information. Also paperwork says 2 testes but my vet found only one. Most disturbing thing I've seen in a long time. I went in here looking to get tags engraved for my dogs and was appalled by what I saw. Gerbil like cages with harsh lighting and grate like bottoms that cannot be comfortable. Every single enclosure had piles of diarrhea on the bottom and dogs only source of water was little gerbil water feeders. Many of the animals looked either sick, dirty, or drugged up. Questioning how this is legal as these are clearly puppy mill dogs. What happens when no one adopts these dogs ? Begging you to rescue and not support this disgusting place. I never wanted to shop from Petland but my boyfriend was adamant about getting his dream puppy. Great I LOVE puppies. But his dream puppy was ready and available at Petland. I tried talking him out of buying and tried getting him to adopt or rescue but he was dead set on his hearts want. Well $6,500 later it turns into a rescue and not a buying situation anyway. The entire process of getting your pup is sketchy from the start. WHY am I paying $5000 for a dog? (We accepted the amount of money, we knew we could have said no. Our issue isn't the 5,000 but it's the "why" behind the $5000) You can get an AKC pup from a breeder for around 500-1200 depending on your breed choice. Well what you're getting from Petland is your pup and a "welcome package" Which includes a nice Cage, potty pads, a GIANT HAMSTER water bottle, (they aren't even good for hamsters or any rodent for that matter it'll destroy their teeth imagine using that with a dog) a hand full of toys, "mouth stimulation" just in case your puppy who is in "good healthy condition" doesn't want to eat, you can get your pup insured (for an extra $100 through a company that isn't petland) you also get 10% off at their recommended vet your first visit is free! (Don't go to their vet like my boyfriend who wanted to play by the books did) oh and they walk you through the store so you can pick out a few things to take home with your pup. During this walk they tell you to buy some of their food because it's what all their puppies are on and they need to transition. You can tell them yes you'll take the little bag because you're going to transition to a better food but they will claim what they have is best (it's not, it's actually on the same level as pedigree or IAMS) anyway after a short argument I was finally able to choose the small bag. As we finished up the transaction with our pup we heard the employees bragging about all the "not optional" things they got us to get. You're telling me I could have gone home paying less than $5000? When I asked about that it was deny deny deny. Well anyway. We brought our puppy home and while she is the cutest thing in the world and her "medical record" from Petland was "all good" her first potty at home was a bloody liquid mess. We checked the papers to see if it was noted and nope sure wasn't! We took her to their recommended vet who told us "ah that's normal puppy stuff it'll pass" and then they diagnosed her with an ear infection without even looking at or swabbing her ear. Well we went on our way and guess what? That visit wasn't free that's where $100 went to nothing. Once we got her to our vet they ran parvo test among others, did some bloodwork actually took a fecal sample and sent it off got her on preventatives and $800 later we learn there's no ear infection, she does have an alarming amount of parasites that she's now been treated for, her little teeth had a few issues too. Long story short. PetLand is one of those places where you can believe everything you read about it on the internet. The employees aren't to blame, we all need a check to go home with at the end of the week. The company itself can form some better practices though. read more

The first time I walked into the store the ripe smell of feces and urine greeted me. The cages for the puppies were in deplorable condition, no water bowls out to properly hydrate the pups! Just rabbit waterers! They stand on grates all day that let their tiny toes slip through, they're crowded 2+ in an area. Not even Tulsa Animal Welfare treats animals like this (the shelter is over capacity so adoptions are FREE right now! Go find your new furry friend!) Also: DO NOT PET THESE DOGS AND GO HOME TO PET YOUR OWN, WASH YOUR HANDS PLEASE!!! Literally ALL of their puppies are in various stages of respiratory illness (either parvo or kennel cough) once you buy the puppy, within 48 hours you'll notice they're sick and take them to a vet, the vet will say it's parvo and you're going to be out another 4-5k for a dog you already overpaid for! Employees are all undertrained and because of the high turnover rate they never get taught what to look for in a sick puppy. All of their puppy's are EXTREMELY under socialized and VERY mouthy/nippy! They don't get much time to run and play so they are tight wrapped balls of energy. Please don't buy from here, I got my German shepherd from a local gentleman for $800, registered and great temperament. Please don't get scammed and buy one of these puppies the company has fricked over for the rest of their lives. If you bring it home, you're the one stuck with the behavioral issues these dogs all have for the next 12-15 years... Edit to add since the owner can't understand. Tulsa Animal Welfare treats their animals BETTER than Petland! Animal welfare has 3-4X the animals and cares for them better than the corporation Petland of Tulsa! Tulsa Animal Welfare has KENNELS OUTSIDE FOR THEIR DOGS TO GET FRESH AIR. Just because your puppies are sick doesn't mean they die daily, respiratory illness take time to incubate. Facts are? You keep your animals in tight spaces and any illness one has? Spreads to the rest. You also mentioned all puppies are mouthy and nippy. One star seems far to high a rating. The first time I went to Petland, I was greeted by a rancid, almost tangible smell. The first image I remember from the actual pets (graphic details ahead) was a puppy consuming their "cage-mate's" waste as it was exiting their body. What is more, Petland confines 2-3 pets per unit! Each unit is no larger than 36"x 46". Additionally, every dog I pet seemed anxious and ravenous. They would chew on my shoe laces, jewelry and hair. Their only source of water were tiny guinea pig bottles made for animals half their size. The cages were filthy. I could see their waste festering at the bottom of the waste tray that rests under the holed-floor. Since my first visit, I have not once seen any of the pets being fed an adequate meal OR any specialized care which is standard considering they all have different needs, pasts and anatomy. I also have yet to read, hear or see any information on where these puppies actually are coming from. All the website says is that they are not from puppy mills, (which I don't believe for a second). The smaller pets were also crowded into tiny glass boxes with open tops. Anyone could grab them: negligent customers, unknowing children, ill-willed adults etc. Owners in the reviews are constantly commenting that the pets they bought were malnourished, sick and in some cases DYING. Lack of transparency is too generous of a description. Petland is a despicable company founded and run with only money as its goal. They are merely one more corporation that continues to construct its foundation on the backs of innocent pets, unknowing buyers and underpaid employees. This is embarrassing. How do I even give this place negative ratings. This place feels like a complete scam. Kirby (the guy who assisted us with the adoption process) had no idea what he was doing. Each paper we went through; he stated "this page is so you cannot sue the store or anything like that". He said one sentence with each form. Then proceeds to say "initial here, sign here, if I can get your signature here". He was everywhere and was hard to get ahold of. He took my ID and FORGOT to give it back after taking it for 30 minutes. I had to get another worker's attention to get my personal belonging back. He then comes a second round and says he needed my ID again along with my "card". He did not say what card nor what it was for; he kept repeating "your card, your card". He was referring to my debit card. Not only that. No financial conversions were made. The price was originally $4500 but the price got higher and higher. Ending up to $4900. They added the warranty plan which was $200 on the receipt I received. Right below it shows that it was removed. Looking back at the paper work I received, it said the warranty plan was only $100. Confusing. Not only this but their system was down and was having to rely on a different company for all their applications. I asked Kirby if this is a trustful company. He said "yes" with a hesitant tone. I will end up paying 7k for a single kitten. Lastly, their return policy is that you can return what ever animal you got, but you will still have to pay the original pricing. What kind of return policy is this? Overall horrible experience. I bought a Lab puppy here on Thursday (Sunday now). It comes with a 14 day 'warranty' but doesn't cover emergency vet services and you MUST take your puppy to either their Tulsa or OKC vet within 6 days of purchase to get 'warranty.' My appointment is Tuesday, BUT my puppy has been running a 104 fever and panting and breathing fast 24/7 since we got her. I called the 1800 number they tell you to call and the answer was wait (and let her suffer or die) until your Tuesday appointment with our contracted vet. The vet is closed tomorrow because it's the 4th of July. Just took her to the emergency vet and she has pneumonia. Cost me almost $700 and they say they won't pay because they don't cover emergency vet services. They wanted me to make her suffer and get worse until the Tuesday appointment with their vet. What if she dies or gets really sick, I asked? They'll give me credit up to cost of purchase. Nah. I'll just go to court, and notify the proper regulatory authorities. PLEASE do your research before you buy from here. When I got my puppy a guy was buying a $6k puppy on credit through them with a 35% interest rate. Dude is going to pay over $13k for that puppy when it's paid off. It's clear from their policies and practices, business model, and pretty much telling me to let my puppy suffer or die that the ONLY thing Petland cares about is cash money. Go get a rescue. Go to the pound. Or at least a reputable breeder. Not Petland where you get puppy mill dogs that they know are sick and won't help, and make the customer pay to save a life! read more

So we were looking for a cocker spaniel and had been looking for a year now. We found a female at Petland and we fell in love with the puppy. We got to play a little and then we asked how much was the dog was. Well they came back and said 5700.00 and I was like wtf I told her no. She then came back and said make us an offer. I told her they were 800-1000 on the Tulsa area and she just laughed. People this place is a puppy mill and they keep their animals in tiny cages. Absolutely not! We recently got a pet from one pet and she came with parvovirus. Immediately after getting her, she became sick and had to be hospitalized the day after she got home. We had other dogs at home two of which got sick after playing with her. We took both of them to the hospital an one ended up passing away on the spot. Our other puppy started suffering complications a couple days later. We took him to the vet and they immediately put him in icu. he had to be fed through a tube a was suffering until he passed away a few days later. it is unfortunate that we had to travel a great distance for our puppy just to end up losing our other two. The staff here are clueless. The prices are inflated as much as 200%. They sell reptile enclosures for $50-$100 more than Petsmart, Pet Supplies Plus, or Amazon. They have a sunbeam snake they are selling for $318. I can buy the same snake for $85 on-line plus $20 shipping. They are selling a ferret and will give you $100 off the price if you buy their enclosure with it. Ferrets are currently in the $150 -$200 range. Total with enclosure at Petland is $1000! They have a baby ball python for $218. It is an Ultramel Morph. Morphmarket has the same snake for $85 plus $20 shipping. A baby ball is scared of the world and defensive. It bluff struck (made head motions but didn't open its mouth) at my girlfriend 3 times as she was picking it up. Once she had it in her hand, it completely calmed down and started exploring. The employee went and got the manager to show her because "no one has been able to touch that snake". I had to explain to the manager (OF A PET STORE) the reasons why snakes bite (food and fear) and the proper way to pick them up. The manager and employee were very nice and very professional. But, if you took your car to a mechanic and you had to explain to the mechanic how an engine works, you would not go back again... Stay away from Petland.
