I have a family of 4 maltese and used to drive all the way to Koreatown in LA to take them to a groomer there, until I found Petian! They always seem able to squeeze us in when we are in need of emergency grooming. The dogs always come out look beautiful and clean. The store stocks an extensive amount of supplies that you cannot find at the big pet store (such as potty pad holders to prevent urine stains on white little paws) and super cute bows! One of our dogs is a little monster who bites when we so much look at him while holding a brush, however, they manage to get Buddy looking beautiful : D Highly recommended, wouldn't go anywhere else. I've tried numerous groomers but this one is my favorite. My dogs look beautiful, clean, and relaxed like they got pampered at a spa. I have seen my dogs stressed out before with different groomers but with this groomer, they are always so relaxed and happy. I love this place. I've been taking my two dogs there for past two years. My dogs look awesome with their haircut. The owners are really nice and you can tell that they have love for animals. I don't know having dogs on display in the front is normal thing here in the US or not, but to me it seems very Korean... but I don't think they have any mean intention, they truely love dogs and treat them really well. Chloe and Buddy always come home with the best precision haircuts and a happy attitude (as happy as they can be after getting washed, blow dried, and cut). We've been taking our dogs to Petian for almost 3 years and we've been satisfied with the quality of work but I've noticed that progressively, our dogs always come back with several cuts to the point where they're bleeding each time they get groomed and all of them get extremely frighten and shake before drop off. This is logical since they're probably dreading the long grooming session but now I'm rethinking this. I can understand that these things are bound to happen once in awhile but not for the last 4 times we've taken them. Even if the dog is matted and needs to be shaved, they should take care in ensuring that the dogs are not harmed and cut with the shaver/razor. If the dog is matted, then take the time to shave off layer after layer instead of just doing it at one stroke. The cuts were so bad and bloody that I had to put Neosporin and bandaids on them in several spots. I didn't complain the last few times and chalked it off that these things happen but enough is enough.They just lost a long time customer. Will not be taking my dogs to them again at the expense at my poor fur babies getting cut. Think about it, a small paper cut hurts and is painful to us humans but now imagine an electric sharp razor cutting into you. See my two pictures posted on 6/4/14. Not sure if complaining will do any good either since most Asian businesses do not care. I feel SO bad for ignoring the last few times. Will be looking for another groomer that takes more time and care with my dogs. 6/20/14: Yes, my dogs have had ear infections but was told by the vet that they are prone to them because of the breed. Yes, the owner did inform us on the visits and we did buy expensive cleaning solutions that was recommended to be the best by the owner on the visits and on one or two other separate occasions. So now we're called liars on top of everything else??? Why would my husband call the next day if not to complain and discuss the incident? He also did cancel the appointment for the other dogs as well. Again, don't call us liars and take a good hard look at your actions. Like I wrote earlier, this review is based on actual statements and events that have occurred and not falsified. I can understand that the owner/son are trying to save face, personal attacks, and put the blame on us but they should be honest as well. Should be careful on what they write for everyone to see. Definitely was attacked and the word character deformation comes to mind. read more

We found Petian through a personal referral after a bad experience at a national pet store chain grooming service. Yes, Mr. Kang is a serious person but you can tell he cares about the animals in his care. He's also a down to earth businessman. His prices are fair but if you bring your dog in looking like a steet dog you'll pay more......thats the way it works and it's fair as it allows him to charge an average fair price. He'll also tell you if your dog acted like a punk or if he noticed anything wrong during the grooming. I appreciate his business manor and professionalism. He's also got a glass window all along his grooming room and if you are so inclined you could watch your dog being groomed but I don't think that is required unless you're just like that. Can't give these folks anything but a 5 star review since we've been coming here for so many years, if they weren't great we would have stopped long ago. The owner Jay is a serious fellow, not much of a smiler or a chatter, more of a get business done kind. Honestly, I'm busy, we have 5 dogs, as long as you take care of them I'm okay if you don't want to be best friends. That's just me, I'm okay with Jay being Jay. We do, in fact, have 5 dogs. Different breads, different issues, different hair. Two of our dogs aren't very compliant but somehow Jay is calm enough that they know and always have known that it's time to settle down and let him do his job. We have three smaller dogs, one nervous yorkie, that somehow survive and come home looking good and smelling great. I can't say they love being dropped off here, but they have never come home cut or traumatized. There is a chance someone is matted, our wheatons do not like to be brushed, they play hard and matting happens. It's understood that Jay may need to trim them short, we agree and he's explained it. The others get what we ask and I can't say we've ever had an issue. They have nicks and skin issues of their own and often Jay will point out that we should treat an area that was hidden under the longer hair, or have a vet look at a lump or something of that sort. I'm surprised to see bad reviews on here and hope this helps if you are on the fence. Basically here's what I tell friends who are looking for a groomer and ask us for a recommend. This place is no fuss, good grooming. There aren't walls dividing the back from front so you can see how they work. Reasonably priced. You'll need an appointment, they are that busy. They will call you to pick up and hopefully you'll fare as well as we do. And yes indeed, our 5 dogs are like our babies, we don't take them just anywhere. I recently purchased a yorkie from Jae on 1/11/12. Great breeder and Pet shop owner, very knowledgeable. My puppy was in good health and up to date on vet records. He is a very caring breeder and is willing to answer any questions you have and even called to check on my puppy a few days later. Those reviews with one or two stars confuses me because this is the only place I've taken my baby to (including LA and OC) where I know he'll be groomed perfectly and safe. My dog, Bobby, has separation anxiety and low self-esteem ever since I rescued him. So when it comes down to Bobby's vet, groomer and daycare, I'm very picky. I have to make sure that the place is not only decently priced but also the humans who will take care of him really cares for the dogs. I've tried so many groomers all over the place. At most places, Bobby got little cuts here and there, or came out looking super funky. But at Petian, I think it's family owned, which is always a good thing for me (even restaurants) because you know they would most likely to actually care about the business. The place is super clean, wide selection of cute outfits for your boy/girl. Ok, here's the part that really assured me that these people REALLY care about their dogs. One day I dropped off Bobby and came back to pick him up. The owner and lady(i guess she groomed bobby) came out together to tell me that Bobby has a mild ear infection. Now, i know this couldn't have been their fault because i already knew bobby had it. I was so touched by how both of them came out to let me know and what kind of medicine to get and how to treat him. If a groomer didn't care and treated your dog as their $$$, they would've cared less about a mild ear infection. These people really care! No doubt. And I have been their happy customer for 1 year so far! Always consistent with services and price, no disappointments ever. And most of all, Bobby doesn't mind coming to this place! One of the best grooming places I've taken my dog to since I moved to Fullerton. They also sell pet clothes/accessories and and... cute puppies for sale in the windows (which I don't support- please adopt). Jay listens to what I want for my dog and even gives me suggestions, so two thumbs up for that. The only downside is that this place gets too busy sometimes, and they don't pick up their phone. I just moved here saw this place had good reviews so I brought my shih tzu mix for a full groom. Owner spoke muddled broken english but I was like well maybe he grooms well. Came back 3 hours later the owner said my dog has problems. I was worried because I knew he didn't like getting groomed but he has been successfully groomed by other groomers in the past. The owner brought him out and he was completely shaved down. No kind of Teddy bear face I asked for, they didn't trim his ears or his tail and cut at least one nail on each paw through the quick and left the nails splitting. Additionally the groomer said that he should have charged me an extra $10 for him being difficult and I was like what?! Charge me $10 for abusing him?! my dog passed out in the second he jumped into the car. I checked him thoroughly at home and his right eye was bloodshot. And he was not his energetic self for a couple days after grooming. I kept checking his eye and it kept getting worse than the day before. My vet says he may have a corneal ulcer. Meaning that at one point they probably were strangling him. The place looks dirty through the glass. It's basically one asian man in the front and many Asian women in the back that you can't speak to. I should have never brought him there. They also had him waiting in the smallest cage they had. If your dog is the least bit afraid of getting groom do NOT bring them here. I even asked the owner how I could help him to get better at getting groomed and he said nothing. You can't help him. I was like what?! Pet smart said I could bring him in to just be in the atmosphere to get used to it. If my dog won't get groomed call me so I can pick him up. Don't try to finish the groom if it means strangling and abusing them! I AM NEVER COMING BACK. And you should never give them the chance to hurt your dog. read more

Re: the first line of my previous review... I now have an idea as to how well this place grooms dogs. My gf wanted to get the famed "lion cut" for her little Pekingese. I'll admit, he's a cute little fucker, and I thought this new style might make him look slightly more manly. Well, you know, as manly as a dog the size of my head can look. So, we called up to make an appt and he said they could take him in 2 hours. She dropped him off and was told he'd be done by 3pm. Cost: $40. She told me most other places had quoted her at $55 and up, so that sounded like a great deal. Cut to 3 hours later and we picked the little guy up. I've gotta admit, he looked great. They did an immaculate job: perfect cut, trimmed his nails, shampooed, bathed, etc. Easily well worth the price, and you can tell that the owner genuinely enjoys his work. This isn't some chick slaving away at a Petsmart, churning out dog after dog and waiting for 5pm to hit so she can get off. If you ever need any grooming done, I can't think of a better place to go for the price and quality. read more

I've never reviewed something before but I will be writing two today and one of them is for Petian. This pet store isn't your typical stinky over packed and dirty pet store. From the minute you even see the entrance you know that they take pride in what they do. I wasn't sure what to expect before I got there because the owner is somewhat difficult to understand over the phone. To be honest, I didn't think that was where I be bringing a puppy home from. But then we arrived and I realized I couldn't have been more wrong. I don't know what it is about Petian but you feel very welcomed, calm and at home here. All of the puppies seem to be so happy and extremely well taken care of. The owner Jae is very knowledgeable with all his pups and their backgrounds. The entire place is spotless and the products they carry are of great quality AND reasonably priced. I purchased food from them and it was actually less expensive from Petian than from a nation wide pet store that has the ability to get larger discounts on products. My only beef is that I wish they were closer. We live in Costa Mesa and getting to Fullerton always seems to take forever. But I promise I'll make the drive everytime our dog needs to be groomed. I wouldn't trust anyone else. Their grooming facility is just as immaculate as he rest of the shop. I could probably continue to write for the next hour on this shop and the owners but really, you need to just go there fir yourself. You will NOT be let down. It's so sweet to see how much they care for the animals and reassurig that they are in it for more than just money. They do what they do because they love dogs, are incredibly talented at grooming and understand that pets are family members also. Jae, I wish you contiuned success in life. I bought a puppy from here recently for a very cheap price. I first thought there was something wrong with the puppy but the owner showed me all the vet statement for the puppy and she was perfectly healthy. I take my little yorkie for grooming here now and the owner also told me that her ear was little bad so he put ear cleaner in her ears. Got my two dogs groomed here for $80!! They did the best job out of all the places I have been to in the Fullerton/Anaheim area. They were pretty quick as well! This store is a hidden gem, it is among the stores next to Stater Bros. I wish I knew of this place earlier because I had just spent $160 grooming my two dogs at Celebrity Paw Spa. I like Petian because they actually have a set list of prices according to breed and I know I wont be hit with a huge surprise bill at the end. The owner was very nice and helpful in letting me pick out the right size harness for my dog. Their carriers and clothes are all adorable and affordable, Ive seen websites that charge at least 50% more for Puppia and Pinkaholic. The puppies are in really good shape there and I saw a groomer take out to pups to groom them. After I bought a bunch of things the owner let me know of the coupon on GoogleMaps (and Yelp, as I see), so I will be back!! Great, clean, friendly place! read more

Since my shaggy dog really need to be groom, I called and made a next day appointment. The store is very clean and I like how I can see through the windows to the grooming area.
