Whiskey was spicy. Mango habanero was the most surprising. The sweet balanced out the heat so well that I ate many more bits of these than I expected. I've been confused about this business since news of the grocery store closing a few years ago. If you just drive by on Frontenac's main drag, it looks like the business is still closed. But on the west side of the building is the new entrance. It seems they just blocked off the front part of the store to save on utilities. The heart of the business is the meat counter, for which Pallucca's was always famous. You'll still find Pallucca's famous sausage. I was pleased to find the three types of italian cold cuts that I use to make muffalettas - which I'd previously only found at Tulsa's Fresh Market. There are lots of italian specialties, including several varieties of ravioli and homemade spaghetti sauce. They also carry the famed Frontenac Bakery bread. Also in in the meat counter are ready-made deli sandwiches (featuring fresh artisan bread) and salads. We really liked the cuban sandwich, which was big enough for two people. They grilled it in a panini press, which made it better than imagined. There are tables for dining in, and there and bottled soft drinks. Lunch specials are offered from 11 - 1 Monday thru Friday. I also ordered what was called olive bread just because I love olives so much. Justin was my server and he was fantastic. He took excellent care of me and I observed him giving the same high quality customer service to customers at his other tables. He had that charming OK accent and indeed told me he had lived at the next little town all his life. We had actually passed through Bartlesville on the way to "The Bunkhouse" (our ABNB for the 2-nights which was very near Pawhuska. (I'll be posting other reviews regarding the "Merc" mercantile and general store and the merchandise available and what I purchased.) This is one of my best days ever. The only thing that could've added to my joy was if Ree Drummond herself made an appearance. I was shocked when I went out to leave for home and found the Drummond Ranch truck parked next to my car. I never found out if it was just parked there as an advertisement, (although I don't think they need any advertising), or if there was a Drummond on the premises. I didn't mention I took 2 Turkey Bacon Club Sandwiches along with the home made potato chips (they came with each sandwich) and a side of MacNCheese which is what the boys chose from the menu.
