Pete's Dueling Piano Bar was an unexpected (and entertaining) stop for us. We actually ran into Hans Kim and ended up walking over with him -- we genuinely had no idea where we were going and had never even heard of this place before. The scene was very different from our usual spots and definitely felt like a throwback to our younger days: lots of young people, lots of alcohol, and high energy. It wasn't the cleanest -- there were empty cups and napkins scattered around -- which felt more like a lack of courtesy from some patrons than the staff, but it's worth noting. That said, the bartenders were friendly, service was quick, and there was plenty of seating. We were able to grab drinks easily and settle in to enjoy the show. The dueling piano performers were a blast and play songs based on requests -- the bigger the tip, the better your chances, which adds to the fun. There were multiple birthday and engagement celebrations happening on stage, and the crowd energy was contagious. All in all, we had a great time and would absolutely return -- especially if you're looking for something lively, interactive, and a little out of your normal routine read more

My husband has a service animal and the establishment denied us entry because the management on this day (October 6th) decided it wasn't conducive to have someone with a disability in their establishment. The front door person was extremely helpful and took our information to their manager, they returned and told us we weren't allowed to let us in because the manager didn't feel it was an appropriate fit for the night for us to come in, it was a Tuesday evening. This could be a much bigger issue than what we are making it out to be. We just wanted to enjoy the entertainment and grab a drink. Our service animal is small and very well trained. They turned my husband away essentially because he is a disabled veteran. Shame on your dueling piano bar!! Choosing the higher road and not taking legal action. Please educate your staff for future interactions. We want all people who are protected under the ADA to feel supported moving forward. read more

Word of advice..... don't get the VIP tables. They cost more and they will make you pay them to play your songs anyway so that was kind of a waste but the only thing available for us. Also don't get there right at 7 when they open because they will not be playing until around 8. Drinks were alright, they didn't offer anything that really stood out to me. The larger drinks didn't seem too strong at all for over $40 each. Piano guys are pretty good cause they can play anything pretty much. The age range in this place is crazy however. Everyone from 21 to 71 years old. If you decide to go here buy regular tickets and order whatever you want to drink aside from what's on the menu. Over all a good time but could definitely be better. read more

I finally checked out this Pete's Dueling Piano Bar location on 6th (been to the Houston location once as well) when a friend was recently in town visiting, and it was an absolute blast. So much talent and energy from the musicians playing back-to-back requests and it was crazy-good. The entire room was singing along to every song at the top of their lungs. It was loud, fun, and chaotic (in a good way). read more

You can definitely visit 6th Street twice in a week...I'm living proof. A friend from suburban Austin wanted some Downtown fun, so we headed to Pete's Dueling Piano Bar. I expected instrumental piano music, but it turned out to be a loud, interactive sing-along with energetic pianist/guitarist who take requests, roast the crowd, and play everything from hard rock to throwback hits. The place was not crowded as normal but they did Keep Austin Weird theme going, and everyone from locals to tourists joined in singing and laughing. If you're looking for a high-energy, friendly atmosphere, Pete's delivers. We did not order food. read more

I fell in love with Austin while at Pete's many years ago. A few nights ago I finally revisited this great spot. The crowd and entertainers are so much fun! There's never anyone in a bad mood here. All you see are smiles. The cocktails are actually pretty solid. Our cocktail waitress was very on top of things and super helpful and nice. The location is right on "Dirty 6th" which is not my favorite area but it still has a lot to offer. I visit the area every once in a while and do still enjoy it. If you are looking for a visit this area and don't want chaos, I do recommend going early in the evening on a week day vs. the late night on the weekend. read more

What fun this place was on a Tuesday night. In fact it was the happening spot and after 11pm, more people arrived. There was a convention in town so lots of matching shirts and lanyards. There was one older lady, a red head & she really danced like no one was watching & didn't care. Even got on stage. A regular or one too many drinks. Back to the entertainment. Virtuosos. They play piano, drums, and the Guitar. I requested some Supertramp, The Logical song. It has some great piano in it & the guy nailed it. I see all my fellow Gen X'ers singing along. Drinks, pricey but strong. When in Austin, make this a stop. Bring cash for tips & fast requests. read more

Been here 3x now. Awesome place to take friends or even family. They do a good job do keeping it not so crowded but still lively. And also the temperature stays pretty good especially if you go up top! My mother and father and law had a total blast, so did all my co workers when we came. Its fun for all ages. It can take a while to get in but totally worth it read more

The service was mostly ok, but the noise was a bit much. The ambiance feels forced, low brow, low class, tacky, gaudy, sleazy, and otherwise lacking. And there'a a smell. If you've been there and you have a nose unaffected by a smoking habit, I'm sure you'll agree. Fat Black man in the photos is the Manager of Pete's Dueling Piano Bar. His actions represent the views opinions and values of Pete's Dueling Piano Bar. And Pete's Dueling Piano Bar supports his actions while on the clock. April 4th 2026 between 7:15pm and 7:45pm: This manager, -in retaliation for an earlier failed intimidation attempt- playfully warned his subordinate with the reddish hair in the pictures that I was approaching, and then pushed his 'friend' into my path as I was walking pass the establishment. He openly admitted to everyone around including his work crew that he deliberately shoved another human being into me, and his excuse was that the girl is his friend. I told him that I'm NOT his friend, and not to play with me like that. He said he'll do whatever he wants to do to pedestrians, because he's the manager of the establishment. He then got physical and tried to push me, and when he realized he lacked the proper strength, he threatened to call the police on me. This all happened on the sidewalk from the entrance as I was walking by. I've been a patron of the esatblishmnet in the past, and I've never caused any trouble, or received any. So I was very much taken aback by the sudden aggression, and disrespect. All of his staff; the girl with the red highlights in the pictures, and the man with the long dark hair holding the selfie phone next to Fat Black, they all thought this was so funny. They all supported him and his actions, and actively assisted in his harassment, on the clock, on the job, as representatives of Pete's Dueling Piano Bar. Maybe Pete's Dueling Piano Bar is only hospitable and friendly when you're paying them to be. Fat Black, The Manager of Pete's Dueling Piano Bar started a fight with a pedestrian, restarted it after it ended unfavorably for him, escalated it further, attempted to get physical with with a octagon beast, who's training is light years out of his league, and then threatened to call the police. I've made several attempts to contact the owner, to no avail. It's almost as if the owners of Pete's Dueling Piano Bar doesn't want to know what their staff is up to. I'll never spend another dime in this establishment, and I suggest that you stay away from this place as well. They're only nice when they want something from you, after that, they turn into violent abusive hooligans. And the owner seems to want it that way, or at the very least is willfully ignorant. read more

Go if they let you. Came on a trip with friends to have a fun time but weren't even let in by some rude bouncer who claimed based off a 1 second glance that we were all "too drunk" to enter. We were not drunk at all funny enough, it was literally our first stop of the night. read more

I have never been treated so poorly at a business before. I'm super disappointed. It was my first time going out to a bar tonight, and I was excited! This bar has such a cool space! Super cute neon signs, extremely talented musicians, and just a fun vibe. So I was sad to leave with a bad taste in my mouth. I went to leave a song request on the piano expecting a QR code or a card pay option- and didn't see anything so I panicked a lil and slid my request on the piano. (I'm a full time artist so I felt really cringe and awkward not leaving a tip.) Unfortunately this musician didn't react well. He replied into the microphone in front of a packed bar,"this one goes on the floor where unpaid requests belong." I honestly felt humiliated, there's no reason to be such a bully. I am all for boundaries- and could probably list 100 ways that could have been said with kindness. It also didn't need to be addressed if he'd rather not say anything at all. Every other person who helped me at Pete's was excellent, kind, and promoted a fun environment! Something really needs to be done about this grown man's behavior. It's simply unacceptable. So BRING CASH! And AVOID the white haired musician who has freckles, glasses, pierced ears, and looks about 50. I have never left a review like this in my life, but I can't sleep thinking about my experience - so I'm standing up for myself! read more

Been going there for almost over 15 years and to be treated like a certain way is uncool by a bartender aj that doesn't know how to act professionally when talking to a customer which would be me.. just because you hook someone up with a drink or even hooking them up into the facility does not give you the right to treat customer in a rude way or if you write a review because you tried to resolve it via email and was ignored.. then you get threatened of being banned from the establishment. If you don't take out your honest review down that's also shows you the character of the company and the management that keeps this company I will not be bullied into taking down my honest review and the fact that the company would even ask me to do that instead of try to to have it resolved the best way they could.. As a regular customer I will not be going back to a facility that doesn't have good management skills it's all about how well you tip and it and how well you don't tip. And I'm like wow and I tip but regardless of that... read more

I'm sure this is one of the most touristy things you can do during your visit to Austin, but who doesn't enjoy a dueling piano bar experience?! I met a group of girlfriends out on a Friday night and we headed to Pete's after dinner... it was very fun! As others have said, bring cash if you are wanting to do song requests... Unfortunately, even with our generous cash request, the piano guys didn't even play our song! Even so, they were all very talented. I was impressed with their depth of song knowledge, instruments used, and so much more. The vibe here was super fun... A mix of bachelor / bachelorette parties, girls trips, and dates. A lot of folks went on stage for a song or two and with the drinks flowing, it's definitely entertaining for all in attendance! If you're seeking some fun entertainment for a couple of hours, this place is great... Enjoy! read more

I was here sunday night 8/2 and it was an amazing time, we stayed for hours! i decided to come again 8/3 and the bouncer barely looked at my boyfriend's id and rudely waved it off as a fake. My boyfriend is a 22 year old man. The bouncer took it upon himself to yell at us to "fuck off." As someone who has worked in customer service for years, I couldn't believe the same man who made small talk with us the night before could be so nasty. My boyfriend, friend, and I were super excited to come for the 2nd day in a row because we're not from here. Insanely disrespectful didn't even bother to scan our ids at all! RIP pete's piano bar. read more

It's not even somewhat related to your classic piano bar atmosphere, of course. It's a dueling piano bar, so it is the opposite of classy, serving up very high energy, party atmosphere where very heavy drinking is the norm (take an Uber), including jell-o shots and table-sized goblets of booze with multiple straws. There were three engagement parties present the night we were there. Definitely a party atmosphere. Be warned. It was by far the loudest music, my far, I've heard in any bar... quite a bit louder than an AC/DC or Tool concert. Hard to believe in a small bar. But that was our experience. It started loud, and every set got louder. Where to sit? I recommend the balcony. Elsewhere, the floor was so crowded, and the tables were so very close together, that the waitresses could not get from one table to another without squeezing between seated patrons or asking people to scoot their chairs over. You may even have to stand to give someone at another table access to the restroom. The men's room was a small, trough-style urinal with no dividers. (I've seen better restrooms in frat houses.) If you reserve a table, you have to pay in advance for the reservation. That price is basically a per-person cover charge. It technically comes get a free drink, but none of the drinks on the menu qualify. Your free drink has to be valued at below $15, and the menu prices start at $15. So, basically, you get a beer. What do they have on draft? Nothing. How many half-decent beers do they have in a bottle? Almost no options there, either. Until they sell out, they have Stella Artois in a bottle and one brand of IPA in a can. The rest was cheap, gas station beer. That said, if you like getting drunk on $15 punch and jell-o shots, and you don't mind being crammed into a small bar like sardines, having your ear drums pounded, and peeing in a trough, then you'll be able to enjoy what this bar actually does have to offer -- very talented musicians, a feeling of celebration, singing along to your favorite tunes at the top of your lungs, and not having a care in the world :-D read more

Super fun bar! More of an older crowd so the atmosphere was less... sloppy? than some other bars on 6th. The pianists were super talented and were playing a ton of great songs. The servers were attentive about refilling drinks and such as well. The ladies bathroom was a little weird though like one toilet just had a curtain for a door? Not sure what that was about and it was also super small. Anyways as a not big bar fan this was really niche and cool! read more

I took my SO here as this was easily my favorite place in Austin. We came on a Friday night and the bar was quite full by the time we arrived. We sat on the wooden bleachers, got delicious drinks with little rubber duckies and sang a number of songs with the pianists. Notable songs sang were 'I Want It That Way', 'WAP', '25K Magic' and more~ We discovered they have more locations in other cities so we will likely go to the Chicago one soon~ read more

Have been to multiple Dueling Piano Bar before. Asked door man if we could pay cover and come back. He has an attitude. My husband's friend is a Vet. He asked if there was a military discount. Doorman all of sudden told my husband we aren't allowed to come in. The security guard was surprised and he was like...let me go find out what is going on. Clearly we are three black people that aren't drunk and shouldn't be turned away. So first time for everything as I thoroughly enjoy the Pete's Dueling Piano in Rosemont, IL. Very glowing review. Very fun atmosphere. The piano players were funny and energetic. When the players were on break, other staff went on and they were great too! The only thing I want to point out is that there were a lot of $80 and $100 requests when we were there and they kind of took over the bar for the most part. So if you have a particular song you want played and you're not willing to shell out that kind of dough, you may be disappointed. We really didn't care so we were fine. Their drinks were fun, though a bit sweet for me. The waitress was busy but super nice and attentive. read more

It was such a fun place for a night of singalong and some dancing! Drinks are okay but folks came for the vibe and the live piano.

Gets packed during busy peak times, so get here early if you'd like to secure a table. $15 entrance fee per person. You'll get a stamp on your flesh, enabling you to go in and out throughout the night, which is convenient, if you decide to explore other spots when things get quiet here. Typical bar with a stage set up with two pianos. The quality of music depends on who's playing, but it's worth checking out if you have additional cash to spend. read more

Pete's Dueling Piano Bar - a crowd of people - Piano Bars Near Me - Austin, Texas

Pete's Dueling Piano Bar - Austin, TX Pete's is hands down my happy place in Austin! Whenever I lived there, this was my go-to spot for a night out, and now whenever I come back to visit my daughter, it's the only place I make sure to go. The energy is electric -- the piano show is always top-notch, and they know exactly how to get the whole crowd singing, laughing, and dancing along. The bartenders and staff are just as amazing as the performers: fast, friendly, and fun. You can tell everyone here genuinely cares about making sure guests have the best time possible. Every visit feels like the best night ever -- and that's why I'll never stop coming back! read more

How have I not written a review of hands down my fav spot in Austin?! Love everything about Pete's - the talented musicians (I'm Allen Fisher's #1 fan girl), the music, vibes, VIP service, crazy drinks, and overall just a feel good place! I've taken so many friends and family and they all love it, even the shy ones. I've only ever sat VIP (so I can be next to Allen lol) and it's the way to go. I love the marquee sign for special events; I got it for my FIL and he was ecstatic when it came out for him. The only downside is it's small so it gets packed (so do VIP!) Speaking of, the smoking of times I go here, I really should get a vip membership if they ever have one (there are some regulars there I've seen). Highly recommend this place for a great, unique time at the best dueling piano bar there is! read more

So cool!! We came on a Friday night, and there was a short line to get in. Cover was $15 per person. There was a Check-in Offer the night we went, so my cover was only $3 which was incredible. Anyway, the whole space was packed, but for good reason. I counted 4 musicians that rotated onstage between the pianos, a drum set, one guy brought out a fiddle, and some other instruments. They played lots of hits, and it looked like the songs came from requests from the audience. I was so impressed that between the musicians, someone knew all of the words to the requested song.
