He has been nothing short of professional, thorough and kind in caring for this very sensitive area for men. For years, he had me on meds to deal with enlarged prostate issues, until those meds no longer did the trick. Together, we explored options and chose an Aquablasion procedure done in the hospital, to clean out the prostate gland and give a more healthy solution than medicine. That was in May of 2024. It was extremely successful and aside from him not allowing me to resume normal running, cycling and pushups, etc, for a month, it went flawlessly. I will never be recommending anyone to NorCal Urology and I will be letting my primary care doctor know how unprofessional and rude the front desk is over there as well, as they might not want to be referring patients to such an unnecessarily nasty experience. I then proceeded to make an appointment at a different establishment where the receptionist who answered was friendly and courteous and very thorough and this place will be seeing me by the end of the week. So no to ever wanting to go to or recommending anyone to NorCal Urology when there are so many other establishments that hire competent personable people who know how to answer a phone. I got an appointment and Doctor Karpman was helpful, frank, talked in a language I could understand, was very clear about the risks and outcome of the surgery and more importantly, kept an open mind about some peculiarities of my case. I didn't want to get a circumcision, so he offered an alternative treatment and I got another one, so my foreskin was expanded enough that Doctor Karpman felt he could do the surgery without risking infection. As a gay man dealing with mostly straight health care, even in San Francisco, sometimes it feels like people are not aware of a lot of differences and you have to be cautious about explaining things.
