I've been wanting…read moreto get a tragus piercing but after hearing some horror stories, I knew I had to do research before getting it done and Nine Moons Piercing kept coming up on my searches. After selecting the jewelry, I'm in the room with Elaine and everything was explained to me thoroughly. There was such a joyful warmth in how Elaine spoke that it completely relaxed me. A couple of deep breaths and I was expecting a pain level between 5-6 but believe it or not, it was like maybe a 1-2 and I think part of that is Elaine's experience with placement as well as her technique. I am so happy with the result and that I went through this with Elaine and Nine Moons Piercing.

EDIT: In their public response below, the owner claims they "recommended someone in your area to…read moreassist" and "tried to calm your nerves." This is completely false. As my email screenshots prove, they never gave me advice to calm my nerves, nor did they recommend a single local piercer. Their only solution was to tell me to book an appointment to come into their NYC studio, even though I live in San Francisco. What an incredibly disappointing response. Original review: I got second ear lobe piercings here on August 2026. On October 2026, two months after the piercing, I woke up with a very bloody ear and pus coming out of that piercing. That ear had swelled up and it was extremely painful to touch. Moreover, the stud was engulfed completely by my skin to where I could not see it anymore. Because it was so painful and bloody, I went to the ER. The ER physician determined that the jewelry had to be removed immediately due to the severity of the complication. When I reached out to Nine Moons to inform them of the medical emergency and complication, their response was dismissive. They downplayed an ER doctor's intervention as an 'easy thing to just put longer jewelry in' and stated they do not offer any resolution, simply telling me to reach out if I am ever in NYC again. This is so disappointing as I thought they held themselves to a higher standard. Given how much pain I was in, I don't think I would have been able to tolerate a longer post being jabbed back into the swollen piercing site. Dismissing medical emergencies and refusing accountability after a painful and traumatizing complication is unacceptable client care. Please beware.

Diamonds and natural gems offered as well! Not surgical SS which contains nickel. (Most hospitals use titanium to fuse bones or secure replacements in our bodies.) I was hesitant because of my own memories of piercing gun I was used to 20yrs ago versus needles, but I swear he is so exceptional that I will never go to another. Place is beyond sterile and not one piercing I chose has hurt for days like your typical piercing gun at "Claire's". It's reverse piercing where flat bottomed backing doesn't poke your skin as you sleep or hand hold your phone. You basically buy the tops to replace once inserted as opposed to traditional you remove backing and change your earring with this long post stabbing you in your head. Unfortunately, the outcome of my final tattoo was extremely disappointing. During the session, my skin was overworked significantly, which resulted in multiple scars. I have never gotten scars from any other tattoo. During the healing process I had an open wound in the center from my skin being dug into. There are also major inconsistencies in the black ink saturation throughout the piece, so much so that parts are fading out. The tattoo itself ending up not following the reference, as a lot of the lines are shaky, the center of the flower lacks definition, and the petals are not cohesive. I understand that tattoo artists can become exhausted, especially during long sessions, which is why I wish I was firmly told to come back another day. If an artist is too tired to give a piece their full attention and care, it would be far better to firmly reschedule for another day rather than continue working while fatigued. This experience genuinely impacted my confidence and how I feel about my body, which is really upsetting because my goal with tattoos is to feel more in tune with myself and style. Unfortunately, the outcome has led me to begin the tattoo removal process, which is both emotionally and financially stressful for me and is about to cost me a lot more than this tattoo.
