I love this Petco! Definitely a small yet mighty location in terms of inventory. I always seem to find everything I need when it comes to the dog food variety and brands. The aisles are narrow and typically meant for one person at a time to pass through. Staff are always friendly and available. This location has a great option of a self-service bath in the back. Towels, soaps, dryer provided! Non slip area, everything is hip-height or taller, perfect to protect your bath. Clearance sections in the front of the store along with their always-stocked treat bar. They price match with the Petco app if you have it. Always a stop when I'm in Waikele! read more

My husband and I recently adopted a 4 yr old German shepherd (yes we thrive off chaos). We took her to Waikele Petco to use their bath. It was perfect. We brought our own supplies but they also have shampoo, conditioner, deodorizer, and shedding tool available. Anyway, staff here are so welcoming. So nice. They have towels and dryer also available. They clean it down before we're able to go in. It's for $20. For us, it's very reasonable given the economy. They also have places to hook the doggy when she's bathing and being dried. read more

Went in to purchase a bath and products for my dog. Was greeted buy Harley and she was helping a customer. another cashier Yukio was just standing around had to ask if she was open she help me but Harley had to tell me about the bath had a wait. Didn't mind wait but when i returned Harley mentioned she had no way to contact us for bath and i told her that Yukio didn't mention anything of taking my number. Yukio failed to take my information for the bath. So we waited. while waiting notice Yukio only stood at cashier counter and i guess that is what she is good for read more

This Petco is smaller than most of the Petcos that I've been to. I was here to check out supplies for fishes. They really didn't have a lot. I also didn't see any live animals at this location. There were only a few bettas and no other fishes. I did see supplies for cats and dogs. There were toys and food for them. I wasn't in the store for that long. It actually got kind of crowded. There were about seven people in the check out line and it just crowded the whole front area by the door. read more

I scheduled a grooming appointment at Petco (Kamehameha location) on 12/6/2025 at 8:30 AM with Tara, who introduced herself as the grooming leader. Unfortunately, she denied service and cancelled my puppy's appointment after noticing crusty eyes, insisting that I first obtain medical clearance to confirm he would not react to their shampoos or conditioners. While I understand the importance of pet safety, Tara's approach felt dismissive and unprofessional. Instead of handling the situation with care, she acted as though she were diagnosing a severe illness, which is outside her role as a groomer. She even suggested I go to a nearby "Dog House Groomer" because, in her words, "they don't have rules there." As a nurse, I value professionalism and ethical service. What I experienced today was the opposite--staff who seemed more interested in chatting with coworkers than honoring scheduled appointments. My dog, Jason, has been groomed here long before Tara's tenure, yet this time the appointment was cancelled without reasonable accommodation. I cannot recommend this location anymore due to poor service ethics and inconsistency. If there were an option to give zero stars, I would. Customers deserve reliable care, not arbitrary cancellations or dismissive attitudes. read more

Almost a perfect shopping experience until checking out. It was a busy day and I watched the workers help as many people as they could smiling and polite. Luckily I knew where the item I needed was and didn't need assistance and just weaved through the crowd. Then I reach the cashier and she was definitely not on the same page as the rest of the employees. It seemed like I personally did something to offend her which idk what it could be I never met her. I continued to be polite and thanked her after she rang me up and I got a "yep". I'm at this location every month and normally everyone is so cheerful and helpful. read more

Stopped in here as I had just had lunch at Kunio and still had time before my next appointment. Was greeted by a young male with a great smile and he asked if I needed any help. Just getting snacks, we both chuckled. Not familiar with this store so browsed the rows and found some of what I needed. Wow! They carried these tiny spiral bully sticks that my regular place hasn't carried in months but skinnier and more expensive. Noticed many of the items are a wee bit pricier but for convenience, it was fine. Liked how the young lady told me if you buy 5 you get 2 or was it 3 free, sure, sounds good. read more

I always get friendly service here. I like the staff and everyone seems really friendly when walking in. The pet trainer is awesome! Went there to look for toys and a bed for my new foster puppy. I walked in and no one acknowledged me.. There's a petco in pearl city but it often runs out of things I need for my dogs so sometimes I have to drive further out to get something. This location is super convenient, next to old navy in Waikele. It's a lot smaller than the pearl city location but has most of the essential items. There is tons of parking and the store is never overcrowded and usually has what I need that the pearl city store ran out of. There's even a dog wash station in the back with a full set up if you want to bring your furry friends in for a cleaning. The employees are always super nice and helpful and the store is always clean. I would recommend this location if you're looking for dog food or basic items for your pet. read more

My fish has ick. I went in knowing what I was going to buy but left with a small tank too. Always happens. Anyway, the woman who helped us was so helpful. I'm in sales so I appreciate when someone really does their job and sometimes goes beyond to make sure you get everything that you need. If I had left not knowing I should quarantine the infected fish, it may be a different review. It's always worse to have to go back because you didn't get something you really needed. I did get what I needed. If she over-sold me a tank, good job on her part. I price matched so it wasn't too much. Thanks for caring about your customers. I love Petco. Their staff is very friendly and helpful. Whenever I go they're always there to help. I always have questions about everything but they help you find your answers. It also helps that they're pet owners so they can recommend what they use for their pets as well. There are always deals that you can save on. Right now for Halloween they have tons of choices for costumes. The only thing about this one in particular is that they run out of things quickly or I'm just last minute and don't think to get something until later. But that's how you know the convenience of the location, they run out of things quickly. There is also a dog washing station so you can bathe your dogs but I've never tried it. The store also holds doggy bags and clean up items in case when you bring in your pet they make an accident. It's a convenient location and great staff. Just call ahead maybe to check if they have the items you need. read more

My dad and I often come to Petco Waikele to give our chocolate labrador a bath. It is unfortunate that all Petcos on the island don't have the self-wash area, as it is rather convenient for large-breed dog owners. There is a spacious wash basin and drying area that you can tether your dog to. In addition, they provide a number of products such as towels, shampoo, standard unscented wash, a furminator (de-shedding dog brush), and more. The total price to use the self-wash station is $15 plus tax, so it's not a bad deal if it is difficult to bathe the dog at home because of their size or the amount of shedding. The bathrooms at this Petco location are very clean, and they do carry nearly everything you may need as a pet owner like kibble, water bowls, toys, treats, etc. read more

This Petco is convenient and clean. The reason for my 1 star is for a break of trust with a customer. When a pet store sells a bone should I have to be ok with the reality that it may kill him? I'm supposed to be ok with a potential sharp piece of smoked/cooked bone causing injury. This is negligence. That's basically the reality I've seen and Petco doesn't care. Why are you selling cooked bones that splinter and are sharp!? Alot of the reviews on Good Lovin Bones call them basically a death trap. Now I wish I would have read that sooner. I'm grateful I took it away when I did so my dogs insides won't look like a blender. I'll never trust Petco or their employees judgement again. You are could be liable for selling a product that knowingly causes harm. Shame on you. When these products are replaced with raw bones I'll remove this review. Regretfully. read more

So normally I'll wash my dog at home, but today I figured I would try a Self Wash which is what initially brought me in. Upon entering Brittany was the first person who spoke she was super kind and so sincere. She got me set up with my huge wild four month old standard poodle. I'm very disappointed in the website. I'm sure I would enjoy the store just fine if it were safe to be in indoor public spaces, but the lack of clarity online causes so much anxiety. First, it says that "some" locations offer curbside pickup, but if that isn't clear during checkout, if there isn't a box or something to check indicating I require that service, then how can I feel assured that I'll be able to pick up my order without having to go in? Then, they dangle the offer of "$20 off this order and 35% off going forward when you sign up for Repeat Delivery!" Well, just have a glance at the attached photo to see how that went for me. It's worth noting that the checkout process indicates deliveries are done through Door Dash, which Hawaii, uh, totally has. So I called the store, informed them that the website isn't allowing delivery to Hawaii addresses and asked if they could simply honor the discount for me if I were to pick up curbside, and they tried to transfer me to some national Customer Service line--ain't NOBODY got time for that. (I do apologize for being a little gruff with the person I talked to, whose fault this is probably not.) All this headache just to get affordable dog food has me once again hauling my 'okole back to Target, where they may not have as many options but at least the curbside pickup system is clearly defined and the app is easy to use. read more

This is regarding the dog training program that is offered here. We had a private training session scheduled that got cancelled just as we were pulling into their driveway because their electricity was out. We called a few days later to reschedule and the trainer rescheduled us for the following weekend. During the same phone call the trainer asked what we wanted to cover during the session. We explained that we wanted our dog to focus on not jumping onto people. The trainer had just completed some surgery or procedure... and was unwell to cover the topic regarding jumping. We weren't offered any alternatives. We asked for a refund. read more

This is my review of the waikele store. There is ample parking, the store is clean, but small unlike the other petco. Most products are not cheap so you need to catch things on sale. Self-wash: I love that this is probably the only Petco on the island that has a self-wash area where there is 2 tubs to bathe your animals. For 10.00 (plus tax), it includes the shampoo, conditioner, brush, towels, harness and blow dryer. You can't go wrong with that! It's a deal. Training: they offer in store puppy training. Positive training. Very costly. And class is limited to 3 dogs. Class is treat oriented, which I prefer not using. What happens when there's no treat? My suggestion, vest your time, money and energy in real obedience training where it's a lot cheaper and more socialization for your pup. We had a good trainer but the class itself, I didn't care for. And I wasn't able to finish up the class and didn't get any refund. Staff: some staff members are nice, some are not helpful. Some are not knowlegable. read more

This review is based on the self-wash and let me tell you, this is a genius a concept. Forget spending $40+ bucks for a bath at a dog groomer. You pay upfront at the cashier and $10 gets you unlimited use of shampoo, conditioner, deodorizing sprays, breath sprays, etc. They provide towels, aprons, brushes and furminators, AND you get to stay as long as you want! Well unless there's a line that starts forming for it. I just love that the tub is deep and they provide a harness for your dog to use so he or she won't jump out, which makes dog baths a much easier task. My boyfriend and I had a great time washing our shiba inu, Ponzu, and we just love the fact that we don't have a dirty bathroom and towels to clean afterwards! Staff is so friendly and they came by to check up on us since it was our first time there. I believe this is the only self-wash station out of all the Petcos on the island. So we travel from Salt Lake to Waikele, but it is worth it and we will be making the drive to Waikele to wash our fur baby from now on! read more

Your friendly neighborhood pet supply and groomer. This is a small store with pet supplies and a small grooming area. There are no animals here except when they have kitties from Joey's Friends. I've read previous reviews that people are upset that this location has no live animals and they have written negative reviews. But this place has friendly service and in relation to their size, a good amount of pet supplies. Definitely a good place to get some supplies, toys and treats for your pet. read more

Stopped here because we needed to pick up dog food and we were going to be in the area. My family normally goes to the store closer to our home, so this review is just to reflect this location. This is my least favorite Petco on the island. Stock is always limited due to being a smaller location and giving up half of the store to the bathing area. For some weird reason, we always difficulty doing price matching at this location. Same product and competitor, but this location never accepts it while others do. When asked about why the difference, all I'm told is that "we haven't done that as long as I've been here." The staff also just stands behind the register all day (not sure if they're short staffed), so if you have a question you will need to get the checkout line. They also seem very unhappy and never smile. I wouldn't recommend coming to this location unless you pre-order online and just pick up...that way you might get a better price and not have to deal with the rude staff here. read more

Woohoo! Don't have to fight the crazy traffic at pearl city anymore since this PetCo opened in Waikele! 5 minutes away from home. This store is much smaller than the other petco locations but it has almost everything you would find at the other stores. One major downfall would be the self-wash area. Yes folks you will have to wash and groom your own pet for $10 and they do provided you the proper equipment. This could a plus or negative I know some like to send off their pets for a nice clean bath while you shop around for bit, I personally like to bathe my own dogs so in a way it's kind of good thing to use someone else bathtub sink and not have to worry about a messy bathroom after. read more

I went to the Waikele Petco during their Grand Opening weekend to check out the new store. The store itself is located next to Old Navy, in the spot where the Bank of Hawaii used to be. The store is a little smaller than the others (I just haven't been in the Hawaii Kai location), but it has all of the great things you go to Petco for. On this particular trip, I was looking to pick up some more bulk doggie treats. One of the neat things about this location is a self-service dog wash station. I'm not sure if there are any costs to use the station or how that works, but maybe I'll venture down there one of these days to see how it works! That's something I've never seen in any other Petco. read more

Petco - Grand Opening Weekend!!! - Pet Stores Near Me - Waipahu, Hawaii

It feels like everyone on the island owns a pet. Considering Waikele is an area that gets busy because of all the shops, you'd expect the pet store to be bigger. This location is not big at all. It's more like a convenient store to me. Get what you need, at a price, then go. There isn't a wide array of selection, no animals to shop for, nothing that'll make you stay longer than necessary. The BEST part about this store is the self service dog wash. They provide everything you need to wash your dog, all's you gotta do is bring your dog. Which, is probably a smart idea...You know, to not forget to bring your dog when going to the self service dog wash. Lol. This is great because alot of people have smaller homes/apts whose bathtub may not accommodate their pet or have access to a hose. I could've swore the price is 10 bucks, which isn't bad at all. Don't gotta worry about a wet dog running around your home, dog hair, etc... You could definitely get away with a stroller in here. Sidenote...they have bathrooms. Lol. Helpful to know especially if you just got done.eating shave ice or picking up boba from next door food vendors. Lol. Enjoy! read more

RYLAN has the best customer service skills EVER! I used to work in retail, the hospitality and food and beverage industries so I know what good service is. I hope the management knows how good he is. Will be coming to this store now because of him. Glad I walked in on a whim and encountered Rylan. He was very friendly, walked me to the product, was very very knowledgeable and gave me good suggestions. I'm new to the military life and he knew what the requirements were to ship my dog. He patiently got down two crates so I could compare the sizes, assembled them and told me my dog needs a 3-inch clearance above while sitting (which I did not know!) I knew about the price matching online and he rung everything up after I showed him the prices on my phone. I will recommend him to all my friends. The location is great, lots of parking (I went on a weekday morning). read more

I recently took my fur son here for a bath. I always assumed this Petco was much bigger judging by its looks as I drive on the freeway. However, it's small but very organized, clean, and has all the essentials you'd need for your pets. But unique to this particular location is their self service doggy bath. It's only $10 and they provide all the necessary grooming tools like a Furminator (a blessing to dog owners with pups that shed ), shampoo, conditioner, towels and doggy cologne and perfume. Giving them a bath is much more streamlined and convenient if you don't have the best type of bathtub and shower head for your doggo and they go into maximum spin drive and get water all over the place haha. Once you're done there's a professional blow dryer in place for you to dry up your fur child. Since I was there I figured I'd stock up on some treats and other goodies for Kintsugi. To my surprise the treats I chose from the treat bin were free. Idk if that's a perk of using their doggy bath or if they're just overall generous. Either or it was much appreciated and left a lasting impression on me. I don't mind heading to Waikele to give Kintsugi a thorough bath when he needs it. I highly recommend :) read more

1 star. That's all you get. I wish there was a 0 star option. Recently, I purchased a puppy crate and some dog treats from Pet Co and sadly had to return the items. I was in the area and decided to drop by this location to do so. The second I walked in I was greeted with a smile from the cashier. She was happy and looked like she was enjoying her day. Two minutes later, after I mentioned a return, I was rudely greeted by Rylan. He took a look at my puppy crate and said "Where's the box it came in?" I let him know that it did not come in a box and that the store I bought it from (Kapolei) just took it off the shelf and folded it up for me. He began to look at my receipt and asked me if there was a reason why I came to this location for the return. I told him I was in the area and it was the closest at the time. ... are you ready for the best part ? Rylan continued to look at my receipt, the crate and back at me. While doing this he started making grunting noises of displeasure under his breath. He turned to his coworker and said "This is going to make us negative in our revenue" he looked at me and stared talking about how a return makes their store negative in revenue and it will cut the hours of the employees. He then went on to state that this store has only 2 employees a shift due to not making enough revenue. To top it off he began to talk about how he would have to explain to his managers why they were short today in money due to the return. Thank you Rylan for the internal information that I did not ask for. You made my day ! You ensured that I, the customer, knew exactly how my money/return was being used. I mean at least there IS a petco in the area. But I must admit, it is very small compared to some others on the island. I went there a couple of times and I could find what I needed there (at other Petco's, yes). Other than that, it was fabulous. I took my puppy here on weekends for puppy playtime :D my dog loves humans, not so much other dogs. I mean he'll go near them, just not play with them. Back to petco. Staff and service were excellent. I enjoy brining my dog here. Just recently I tried their self dog wash service. For $10, I think it's worth it. You get to,use the bath with their shampoo and condition, along with their scented spritz, quite a selection. Note: they have a strawberry spritz that straight from the bottle smells like cough syrup. But I'd thought I'd give it a go, and I'm glad I did. The smell disperse into not cough syrup scent, but a strawberry milk type of scent. I was surprised! He smelled delightful, not over powering. TIP; spray it on your dog when wet and massage it into his fur. Then blow dry. For me at least, I think it lasted longer than when sprayed on after the pup is dry. Day 4 and I still want to eat him up lol Btw, my dogs a shih tzu, so he has a lot of fur for the spritz to attach itself onto :) read more

I suppose if you only need food supplies or your dog groomed than this is probably an awesome place for you, but to me it's just disappointing.
