I've been to petcos throughout the years and in multiple states. They're all pretty much the same. But this was the first time I am using dog training services. I opted for the first session to be a private 1:1 session. My dog is a puppy, finally fully vax'd and I've been trying to socialize her. I didn't want it to be too overwhelming to be in a group on her first session. I'm so glad we did. It was fantastic. Maddy was great! She explains a lot of "why" we do xyz. She was super knowledgeable on breed types etc. she suggested a lot of things that we can do. My dog was having trouble sitting, and recall. I'm blown away at how quickly my dog was finally getting it. lol I knew my puppy wasn't dumb! Jk I'm probably going to do a few more private sessions that work with my schedule before a group training. I love the ease of booking. They have packages as well but it's not bad paying as you go if you can't stick to their set dates for classes. Overall super happy with the experience. My baby had a great time with Maddy and left with even more confidence. We've been practicing at home and she's continuing to show progress. Ps it's so cute but they have a fake dog to see how they do with other dogs too. My dog when right up to it to sniff it out. lol read more

Hello, I would like to report a negative experience I had at one of your Petco locations. During my visit, I was looking at the fish section and taking photos of the aquariums for personal reference. An employee approached me and told me that I was not allowed to take pictures inside the store. The interaction felt unnecessary and was communicated in a rude and dismissive manner. I was not disrupting anyone, filming employees, or using any professional equipment--just taking simple photos of the fish tanks. This made the experience uncomfortable and left me confused, as I was under the impression that casual photography of store displays is generally allowed. I would appreciate clarification on your store policy regarding photography, and I hope this feedback can be used to ensure better customer interactions in the future. Thank you for your time. read more

Purchased 5 neon tetras, two of which didn't survive 8 hours. Called ahead to ask about this stores' refund/exchange policy. I was told I needed a receipt and the bodies if applicable, but it isn't required. Arrived 30 minutes later with the bodies, receipt and water sample just in case. Was told by the same employee that I should never bring the bodies back, and that they can't test my water sample because it might be contaminated from the dead fish(?) but that they would throw it out for me over fear that I might "just throw them in the garbage outside the door" of the building when I leave. Got my refund, won't be returning. read more

I've visited this location several times shortly before closing, and each time I've experienced the same issue. About 20-30 minutes before close, an employee named Beth begins turning off the lights on the fish tanks, even while customers are still actively browsing and considering purchases. It creates an unwelcoming, rushed atmosphere and makes it difficult to see the fish clearly. Additionally, on multiple occasions, she has told my child to put items back that we were intending to buy. This is not appropriate. If there's a concern, please address the parent, not the child. Today, we ultimately chose not to purchase the bottom feeder we came in for, simply because we couldn't see into the darkened tanks and didn't feel comfortable with Beth as the associate on duty. To make matters worse, we overheard her tell another customer that she would help her "if she had time" because she was trying to "get out of here" due to it being a holiday. With 20-30 minutes left before closing, the store is still open and customers deserve full service until the end of business hours. Customer-facing closing duties should not interfere with the shopping experience. I hope this is addressed so customers feel welcome and supported, regardless of the time they visit. Also when we bought our betta fish there, 1/3rd of the Betta fish on display were dead. Terrible! Positive note, there has been a lovely gal working the register every time we've visited! read more

I always take my son with me to pick up cat food. The store is always clean and animal cages look good as well. They usually always have my food in stock. Employees never hound us when we are showing my son around all the animals. I wanted to shout out an employee who is always so kind she has short hair and glasses usually working the register. The Vetco is closed which is super inconvenient and what is the point of having an office there if they aren't going to use it ? I have to drive across town to have my cats seen or even pick up their meds. read more

I bought 3 guppies from them for about $2.00 each. Simply trying to add color and diversity to my tank. One didn't even make it out of the bag and died. Other 2 into my established tanks. They replaced the one how ever. Unknowingly the damage was already done. The disease has started taking my tanks. The total loss is 2 more guppies, 3 glow barbs, a platinum bard, 2 glow Corrie's, 2 black mollys, plenty more to go My big concern the 2 dinosaur fish and my albino and 2 clown pleco's Talking to manage ment about it. "We can replace the $2.00 guppy" not the infected live plants, diseased substrate or countless fish soon to be taken. ALWAYS QUARANTINE YOU FISH. When it comes to bad shops like Petco don't avoid the countless dead fish. Acknowledge it and shop somewhere better. $2.00 mistake that wipes out $100's unfortunately with all the life in the tank such as plants and soil. The solution is not as simple as just washing things as the bacteria is absorbed into the living material. 2 tanks affected. read more

I just want to thank the person who rang me up today (unfortunately I didn't catch your name but you had nice swoopy red(?) hair) but your kindness was greatly appreciated especially about my kitty with kidney disease. Rudest grooming front counter girl and grooming manager today Cannot believe it!!!!! Won't be back. Attitude and rude

Staff was not very knowledgeable about the animals and handling. I wish there was a better way to capture the small birds like parakeets then chasing them all over with a net until they're panting and stressed out. The animals did seem healthy however. Worker who cleaned cages didn't know age, origin or even basics about breed. read more

Petco at Hazel Dell- They will not honor the internet advertised prices for a dog wash. The advertised price was $31.00 and it let me make a appointment. I arrived with my corgi short hair, not a fluffy. I was told there was a supply fee about $10, also my dog weighed 32 pounds another $10 for his weight. Then they said corgis needed two washes another $10.00 and extra drying time another $10.00. Now it's going to cost more than double the advertised price. I asked is there anyway I could get the price that was advertised? I was told "NO" Do not use this store you will get ripped off. In looking at the Company I see their stock is around two dollars a share, Soon to be gone and this is a good reason why-sad read more

Animals are in horrendous conditions. Multiple hamsters were bloody from stressful conditions. Couldn't get a great picture but one had a very clear URI and a head tilt. One had a bloody hand and there were multiple VERY deceased betta. They had clearly been left there for over a day. Petco's trainer, Katie is the best. She really cares about the dogs and is invested in doing all she can to make them better members of the family. She is patient with the dogs and she intuitively knows how they are going to respond to her training techniques. We're very happy that we chose Petco to train our husky, Bella. Huskies can be quite challenging at times, and Katie has helped us out so much with figuring how to get Bella to act the way we want her to. read more

Since my daughter lugged home a 90 gallon tank and two turtles, we have become regulars at Petco. First time visiting this location, and I'm sure it won't be the last. I like that this Petco is identical to our regular location. Down to the hanging location of the beta fish food. I was able to navigate around without assistance. Staff was short handed, lines at both counters. But once you get to the cashier, they both wee nice, helpful and friendly. read more

Dropped my two dogs off for a grooming appointment this morning - a simple bath - at the Petco in Hazel Dell. They've been here before for grooming - and to numerous other Petcos. (We've moved and traveled a bit.) Upon returning to pick them up - only one was groomed. They said the other was barking in the kennel too much while waiting. No call - just didn't do her. If she'd ever been refused service at any other Petco (or anywhere) - I'd be more understanding. I guess they do not value my business. I'll find another place to shop for Pet Supplies and for grooming. So I guess if you have a dog who barks - don't take them to Petco! read more

This was my first trip to this Petco since relocating back to Washington. It's conveniently located and was excited to explore as another option to care for my cats. I have never left a review but this experience was hard, not from product or service standpoint, rather the care of the animals. The smell was intense the minute you walked in and knew cages needed a desperate clean. Animals, including turtles, had no toys or engagement. So many birds in cages. Aquariums, dirty. The farrets cage was awful. Feces all over and had an incredibly awful smell. Gut lunch. I asked the gentleman at the cash register what Petco's policy was for cleaning cages. He assured me they do so twice a day and with the ferrets, that's just what happens. That wasn't an awesome feeling, especially being stuck in a small space with no less than 5-6 ferrets. And the turtles, they had a stupid fake rock like surface to hang out on. Nothing else. Once I paid for my purchase, I came across the cats as I was walking out. As a cat owner, I was even more shocked at the size of their "cage", the dirty blankets they were forced to sleep on, and was horrified. I will never come back to this store. If pet stores don't lean towards creating positive living conditions for these animals, they should work with local non-profits and animal rescues who actually care about the animals. Wonderful service but as a pet owner, how could anyone think this is okay. It's not. read more

I have had to put all 4 of my guinea pigs to sleep because of petco's lack of care. About 5 months ago I purchased a black guinea pig from here. When I brought her home she had had a bit of a runny nose. I didn't think much of it. Well 5 months later it turn into a bunch of infectious abscesses growing on her. Since this is a very contagious thing it began to spread onto my other 3 guinea pigs that I have had for years. To get rid of these abscesses it requires a $400 surgery per guinea pig. So my only other option is to put my suffering babies to sleep. My friend also had purchased a guinea pig from the petco in Longview wa and her guinea pig ended up having rye neck after 3 months of having it. The only option for her pig was to put it to sleep. I have heard many horrible things about petco and how badly they treat their animals. I just always thought they were rumors until I learned the hard way. read more

Good selection of products, clean, but... Today my son and I came in to purchase some supplies for my lizard. While looking at the lizards in the cages; we saw a completely emaciated, almost dead leopard gecko. My son informed an employee and they just shrugged it off that he's a little skinny but fine. Worst petco ever horrible just horrible worst exacuses (not my job) literally you work in the pet store if it's not directly your job you make sure the job is done by the person who is. I wish I had more pictures than just the fish but ended up getting rushed out because I told them they needed to actually care for their animals instead of just letting them die in filth. Talked to the manager they didn't care and gave the old (I'll pass it along). Very disappointing , the store was filthy a mess and the staff while some were pleasant as soon as i ask about the welfare of an obviously dead pet they were done with me. read more

I'm a faithful customer to this location. I have a small dog that I get groomed monthly ( not to be gross but..glands drained, nails cut, bath). My dog has dark nails so I'm not brave to trim away from the quick myself. Truly a fast and friendly staff. They remember me and my dog and they are great about calling me as soon as she is done. I've made several purchases for gear such as leashes and even an airline approved carrier. The place is always clean and well stocked. They are helpful and never hesitate to give suggestions. They have a small store vibe here..no corporate stuffiness from this staff. read more

The manager and the employees are so rude. They don't know how to talk to a costumer. I've never seen a bad manager in my whole life. I suggest if Petco doesn't care about costumers , they will loose everything. You guys need to hire nice people not rude and meaningless people . read more

I love pets. I love petco. But every experience I have had with the staff except maybe two, has been awful. There is an employee named John who lectures all his customers on the details of fish that contradict what the signs say in front of the tanks. He talks to customers like they're stupid. In a way I get it because I work retail too and customers are stupid most of the time. But you can't treat them with blatant disrespect. Those bad experiences didn't do anything but push me to shop at PetSmart. So, I have been... until last night. I decided that I'd pop into petco to see if anything has changed. The same employee I've had issues with before is there and so is a girl who is obviously training. She was bagging our fish and he was being so disrespectful to her about selling a single schooling fish(I explained to her that I had 4 others at home so he would be in a school.) and he practically yelled at her about how she was bagging the fish. I get hating customers, I get not even wanting to be at work, but don't disrespect your coworkers. That's where I draw the line. read more

Came into this store today, wanting to buy one of their $400 Conure birds. I was completely ignored. I saw someone standing by a register. I walked over to him asked him which of the two birds was the most friendly, He said the green one the other one bites. He told me he would show me the bird he just needed to help someone who had just walked up to the register. (There were two people working the registers and only one customer.) But okay, I'm in no hurry so I looked at the bird cages and Toys for sometime. 15- 20 minutes pass, I look towards the registers and did not find the original person who I talked to. There was actually another employee standing at the register, I looked around the store trying to find help or the original person Who I had talked to only 20 minutes ago with no luck. So, I walked out. I will be going to Bird Hut Tomorrow to buy my $400 bird. read more

This Petco is as good as a chain pet store can get. They have the instant pet tag maker which is great. You can get a tag made on the spot for about $8-12 bucks. They sell Zuke's treats which our dog loves. We play hide and seek around the house with them. It's a great game for rainy days. And I recently got a AquaFarm from Kickstarter which houses a betta and they have a small section dedicated to supplies for this small fish. The staff is welcoming, and the store is generally devoid of other customers. The brick and mortar is generally a little more expensive than buying things online, but it's easy to pop in when you need something right away. read more

WORST PETCO EVER! I thought usually when you went to a store, the goal was to sell stuff. Every time I have gone into this store I regret it. So I wasn't go to write a review, but after thinking about it for a few minutes how could I not???? I'm definitely not impressed!!! I brought my cat in for the full pampering...his nails trimmed, ears cleaned, and a flea bath. They called and said he was ready to be picked up.he was still wet, and had blood all over his back paws, she explained to me she cut them first, then when he got wet they started bleeding ... I was looking right at her when she was explaining this, but it was like in one ear and out the other...i brought my cat home and started looking closer ...it looks like someone tried to de claw him!! Not over exaggerating at all!! I touched his back paws and he let out the most painful cry. I won't give out the lady's name...but this is not acceptable. I will not be coming back!! For 64 dollars I'll do it my myself.... do not bring your cats here!!! I'm very disappointed petco... you deserve no stars!!! read more

There was probably 4 people in line before me, which I get doing as a kind gesture so I didn't waste my time.
