Took a trip here to pick up my online order for a fish tank. When I got home after picking up my order and filled the tank I realized the bottom of it was broken and leaking terribly. I then dumped the water and went back just to see if I could maybe exchange it, and the rude female that was working tried ACCUSING ME of breaking it and tried telling me they couldn't do an exchange but could process a refund. Like huh?? This store's employees have no decency when it comes to their customers. Especially this specific female. Flat out rude and talked to me like I was stupid. The cashiers always do so well to help me with anything I need and I really appreciate their help, however it was during Venus retrograde that maybe I just caught the manager at a bad time but I don't think I'm imagining being snapped at by this manager she was beginning to yell at me over a return I needed help with, it felt like she was insinuating I was lying about my return or something, and I was too embarrassed and tired to respond to it, top it off I already felt guilty enough over my return since they were rodents for my snake I just made a mistake buying the wrong size, if I ever need help again with a Petco online order I don't want to experience that again, otherwise the other employees are always so nice to me! read more

This is why I prefer Pet Supplies Plus way over Petco. Didn't feel like turning around to go to my regular spot, Pet Supplies Plus and only needed one item. In and out, except that you end up spending an absurd amount of time in line while the retail people explain something or chit chat about the weather. Get another cashier up there if you need to explain how to apply flea medicine to a customer. Then, there is the screen where you enter your phone number, for Petco Rewards except that they still ask you for your phone number to enter on their screen. Then, why do I have the option to enter it myself.... and when I did enter it like so many times in the past, the retail person came up with a bizarre explanation that she STILL needed to enter my phone number for me as there are multiple accounts attached to my rewards number and this is her way of verifying it. Guess she really needed to enter that telephone number even though, they give you the option to enter it yourself. Kind of like wearing a mask still, even though you have been fully vaccinated. They killed our dog through malpractice due to negligence. She was still a puppy and went in to get fixed. They administered the paralytic which stopped her breathing reflex and failed to administer oxygen. Keep your pets safe and do NOT bring them here. Our family is crushed. My dog had a grooming appointment at 8:00am which normally takes around 2-3 hours. I called to check on how much longer it would be at 12:00 and they said they haven't started on him yet and it'll be another 1.5 hours. HE HAD AN APPOINTMENT AT 8am !! Ridiculous. I like this location way more than the one in Modesto. I come here for the vetco. You dont have to worry about a line....it is a little further out for me being that I live in Manteca but definitely worth it. The service is better and like I said you dont even have to wait long. To start with, the two stars are because the groomers here do a nice job with the actual grooming work they do. Unfortunately, the communication and customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I tried to make an appointment online but that was no longer an option. When I called to make an appointment, no one answered but the message informed me "good news, you can now make appointments online." I had scheduled the same time for grooming of both my dogs. When I arrived at Petco, I was told they couldn't groom one of them because it had been less than 24 hours since he got his rabies booster. I appreciate the concern, but I was not informed of this when scheduling. The normal time for a dog grooming is 2-3 hours. For the one dog I had groomed, it took over 5 hours and there was no communication with me about the delay. I have run into issues with communication and customer service during previous visits. I wish they would resolve these because, as I mentioned, they do nice work. read more

Petco has been a store I have bought supplies on and off for years. I don't love their prices but occasionally I find good deals. Service is usually helpful.. but today I was kind of baffled at one employee. I asked him if it was possible to check out the kittens they had to adopt and he told me, "no I can't right now" and explained we don't have enough people on the floor. I asked will there be another time today I can see them? He gave me a very late time but I accepted it. I left the store and took a call in my car and a couple of mins later I see him smoking outside. Not enough people on the floor but okay to smoke and right outside the store? Very classy... It's important to find forever homes for pets but I see his properties are elsewhere. read more

My dog is an a-hole. He barks at people ALL. THE. TIME. He barks when he's walking, he barks through the fence, he barks if he sees people through the window. It stresses me out to take him anywhere. Needless to say I was worried when he needed a groom. I decided to take him to Petco. Guess what? He barked, until Melissa came out and greeted him. She's some kind of dog whisperer. He just curls up to her like she's his safe place. Bonus: Melissa knows how to groom. His cuts have turned out so cute! Would recommend this store and definitely Melissa! Great customer service but the store feels slightly smaller than other Petco stores. Most importantly they have what we were looking for.

What was supposed to be a routine procedure, turned into a nightmare. If you love your dogs as much as we do, don't take them here to get fixed. Petco Turlock murdered our family's dog, she was taken to get fixed which is a pretty standard procedure, who leaves a year old puppy alone in a room to be filled up with anesthesia? They do. They came back to check on the dog only to realize they've failed to do their job properly and the dog had been filled up with so much anesthesia that she died. Petco murdered this innocent baby, and felt no remorse. The malpractice and irresponsibility of this place is horrendous. They've not only ruined an animal's life they've caused unnecessary trauma to a family. What a disgusting place, dont send your animals here for anything. read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. I waited in grooming to be helped for 10-15 mins then asked a woman at the cash register if anyone was in grooming. I was told yes and that only two went on break. So I continued to stand for 20 mins. At 30 mins of waiting I asked this bigger women if anyone could help me to which she said there is only two people working grooming today instead of 3. What really pissed me off was the fact that someone's dog was back in grooming unsupervised for 30 mins at least barking. Why send the only two people running a department both on break? If you care about your pet at all I would never take my pet here since this is an establishment where the employees morals aren't affected by leaving someone's animal in a cage alone for at a minimum of 30 mins. read more

Even though this store has only been open a few days, I found it well stocked and organized. I was able to quicky find what I was looking for, but enjoyed browsing the new store. I came in recently to have my dog groomed. Deana was his groomer and she was phenomenal, she was so caring and gentle. The session was rather quick (which was great) but the quality was awesome! I love the treat bar, the new wellness area and the entire store layout is really wonderful. Overall a great selection of food, treats and toys! read more

I've had a couple bad experiences with groomers. I took my first dog, Caramelo, to Lisa's Pet Styles when he was a puppy and he ended up in the emergency veterinary hospital on Taylor because he got pneumonia. According to the vet, some groomers punish dogs who act up by shocking them with a cold bath, which he believed was what caused my pup's pneumonia -- but that's just a theory. So, in his old age, I still wanted to try to get him groomed even though I was rightfully nervous to trust someone with him. It was about a year after Petco had opened up in Turlock and the groomers had good reviews, so I decided to take him here. My pup was very nervous and could start nipping at groomers, so I told them to please go easy on him and just give up if he became too much because I didn't want a repeat of what had happened with Lisa's. I wish I could remember who did his grooming, but they did an absolutely beautiful job with my little man. He was a tad choppy, but she explained that it was because he was getting upset and I was so grateful that she didn't force him or get upset with him to try to get a straighter cut. He came home tired and quiet, but definitely much calmer and less scared than the first time he'd been to a groomer. Caramelo passed away not too long after this, but he left looking so handsome. I'm grateful he had a better experience and I've started bringing my new friend, Toby, regularly for wonderful little haircuts. read more

I bring my 3 year old peek-a-poo for grooming, and will never be bringing her back again. There have been two occasions were I have walked in early to pick her up and I have witnessed her being treated roughly. Today which was the last straw, she yelped in pain. When I asked why she yelped the girl at the check stand said she was difficult and did not like her face and nails done. And while I understand that not all dogs are easy, if someone can't handle that as a groomer then they should not be one. My heart broke for my dog. When the groomer gave her to me she didn't say a word. I trusted her to be taken care of. Do not bring your pets here if they are not "easy" pets. read more

They didn't have anymore blue buffalo cat litter on the shelf, the pellets are very popular and it is the best litter, so I asked an employee named Nicos if they had any. We brought our dog here for a nail trim, and I like that you can watch the groomers at work. Our dog doesn't get as nervous here as she did when we took her to the vet for a nail trim.
