We have since gone on the Advanced Obedience and Agility classes. They help you get what YOU want out of your relationship with your dog, not the my-way-or-the-highway style of other trainers. They always mix it up, keep it fun and interesting- we go on field trips around town sometimes. Prices are very fair, convenient location to Fairfield and New Haven Counties. I used what I learned with all three dogs and it's made a huge difference in our home. No more stress, all the dogs get along nicely and play together. All three dogs pay attention and listen to me. At one point, there was a Dogtopia that opened up 5 min. from where I work, and I made the mistake of switching daycares because it was much closer. Ended up bringing my pup back here after she was injured at that Dogtopia and I never heard back from the owner. I will never make that mistake again. Wag is so much better in terms of communication and how responsive they are to anything I bring up. Plus their staff is amazing with my pup, every time we come in they know her and are so excited to see her and vice versa. She practically forgets about me when they lead her in. Lol. And she always leaves exhausted after a day here because they have so many activities and cute little crafts they do with the pups depending on which day of the week you go. Also the indoor pool. I also boarded her here for about a week during a vacation last year and felt so at ease knowing she was safe and in such good hands. I received updates constantly. That's another thing too, the text communication makes things so quick and easy, especially for appointments. Plus they keep on top of vaccinations and fecals, which is so important. You thought you did everything right by giving your dog so much love and socialization only to now be faced with questions and comments like " why didn't you just train your dog ?" , " you're not the alpha to your dog", " you shouldn't be a dog owner" on a regular basis. I have a 6 year old boxer ( the social , goofy clowns of the dog breeds) . I've worked with dogs in the past as a kennel attendant, and grown up with dogs my entire life and never thought I would be in this situation . I struggled to find a trainer whose techniques showed progress which lead to inconsistency, a lot of frustration and doubt . Eventually taking him places like the vet and groomer caused me such extreme anxiety. When I met Tom , my dog was unapproachable by strangers , including Tom initially. It took a month or so of meeting up , going on walks and practicing techniques at home but I was seeing improvement! Not long after Tom was able to take the leash from me and walk Gus, and we could walk near other people without Gus acting like a total maniac , lunging , barking and snapping. It was like he was a normal (ish) dog . Gus is 6 , so it will be a slow process to break him out of this behavior , but he has improved so much in the last 6 months .. I never thought I would get this far. I still have my work cut out for me but this training has also helped me increase my confidence as a dog owner and learn to trust my dog again. I'm not longer so nervous to take him out on walks because I feel like I'm in control.( Holding back an 80 pound boxer is not an easy task ) . My dogs have always come out looking great, and I've been happy with the work the groomers themselves have done. Unfortunately, the communication and customer service have become so frustrating that I've decided to look for another groomer. Trying to get in touch with the office or schedule an appointment is unnecessarily difficult. It often feels almost impossible to get a response, and when I do communicate what I need, it doesn't seem to be listened to. For example, I specifically explained that Fridays are the only day I'm available, yet I was offered a Tuesday appointment. It's incredibly frustrating to repeatedly explain your availability and feel like the information is simply being ignored. Another issue I constantly run into is that I'll call and leave a voicemail specifically requesting a phone call back, but instead, I receive a text message. Even though the voicemail specifically states if you wanna text ask for a text, and if you wanna call, ask for a call. I understand that scheduling can be difficult and that appointments may not always be available on the day a customer wants. However, there's a big difference between not having availability and not communicating effectively with the customer. I would have been completely understanding if I had simply been told that there were no Friday appointments available. Unfortunately, the lack of communication and the difficulty getting help with scheduling have reached a point where it's no longer worth the frustration for me. Good grooming is important, but good customer service and communication are also a huge part of running a business. Sadly, the scheduling and communication issues have ultimately caused them to lose me as a customer.
