He gets dry skin in winter, his coat is so soft, they conditioned his coat and skin, his pads were hard and rough, they are like a puppies pads now! Price was good, friendly staff. A while back I posted that I brought my dog there twice actually, the first time was in Fairfield. It was a hot day. They had the big windows and when I got my dog, she was so thirsty. She drank two bowls of water. They gave them gerbil feeders to drink my dog doesn't know how to drink out of the gerbil feeder, the second time was in Bridgeport. They forgot about them after I had lunch and they told me I'll give her! After four hours, I called him and the woman was very confused. Got back on the phone and told me another hour. I went there after an hour and she had the worst chop job ever had. A shag. The lady explained to me that it's hard when the dogs hair is curly which was ridiculous. It's not that curly. It's slightly wavy even a poodle they can get straight. Mine is a Japanese , Shih Tzu mix. it looks so bad and they did not think for her and again, of course she was dying of thirst even I told her to give her a bowl of water. read more

THIS makes me sick. I was next door at the gym and decided to pop in to give blessings to some of the animals and wanted to cry when I saw this sickly emaciated bearded dragon. Hugely disappointed In this Petco location! Went to pick up meal worms for my son's leopard gecko. On the way out we stopped to look at the gecko's in the store. One of the habitat's contained 2 yellow leopard gecko's with feces everywhere and 2 very emaciated gecko's. One was so skinny, it looked dead and the other was so calcium deprived it's limbs looked like Gumby. Meanwhile there were 30 crickets hopping around the cage, but both the gecko's were so sick and so small there is no way either of them could catch or consume one. Get your act together! You shouldn't be allowed to care for or sell animals any longer! DISGUSTING! read more

I've been going to this store for five years. The staff is very friendly and always attentive to people looking around. They will always ask to help you. The prices tend to be better elsewhere or online, but I noticed this last trip that the food I normally buy had a huge price drop. Lets hope for my cats sake that it isnt being discontinued! The registers seem to be a bit understaffed at times but not terribly. The cashiers will even give you a coupon for something you are buying if they have one. Someone will even help you put the stuff in the car, which I like, because litter is heavy! And, you can return anything. I have a fussy cat and have returned opened bags of food because she just wont eat it. read more

Awesome place even though selling iguanas is not a good idea bc then they get big and people don't know what to do. Staff is nice. Dean is Awesome and so is Scott I suggest it for Merricks dog food and crickets. Sone live mice carry mites that can harm ur reptiles. (Not necessarily at Petco) But frozen is safe ! read more

It's OK. They have Samsung pay, a decent stock if aquariums and fish. The tanks seem maintained better than most Pecos and PetSmarts. The aquatic staff also seem a bit more experienced than a typical corporate outlet. The store has public bathrooms and grooming services available. It is located near the highway and is adjacent to a Home Depot and a U-Haul place. read more

Unfortunately I will no longer be bringing my dog here anymore :/ seems to me like they be abusing the dogs when they are getting groom. My dog is one of the sweetest animal in the world & for some reason she hates it when I leave her hair. Plus the last time I brought her here I guess whoever was cutting her hair had cut her too deep that she had marks on her. As well as leaving my dog for like 6 hours one time didn't know what they took so long they probably didn't even feed her because when she got home the first thing she did was run towards her food. I returned from picking my dog up from the grooming department in the Stratford Petco and WOW, they did a GREAT job. A++++ HIGHLY recommended! Everyone that works in that store is always so nice and friendly. They also provide inexpensive vaccinations EVERY weekend. The line could get long but they are very fast and professional. read more

The staff here are great. I'm always on the defensive when I walk into pet stores with one of my Pits because of other people's stupidity regarding this breed. My dogs and myself always get greeted warmly, somtimes they even get a bunch of hugs and kisses. read more

Petco is pricey but worth it when you have sales people like Dean (don't know his last name) but he took the time to find my dog the right lead, fit it on him and even took him outside to walk him to make sure it was right for him. i took my toy poodle phoebe to petco in stratford to get groomed..I told the groomer named anne s.that i wanted the poodle cut which that's what i alway's have for my dog..she said she knew exactly what i wanted..I told her how iwanted her cut not too short on the body..i asked her to make sure to take hair out of ear and shave her paws and clipped her nails.well when we went to pick her up me and my daughter was so mad..my daughter took the dog from the groomer anne and walked out..i stood there in shock didn't say much because i didn't want to disrespect her..i went to the front and asked for a manager and told him look what your groomer anne did to my dog..he didn't charge me which i told him i wasn't going to pay for someone that messed up my baby's hair.he apologized but i was still very mad.the groomer anne did nothing i asked her to do..there was still hair in her ears..nails werent clipped and her puff on her tail was cut off.her top knotch was shaved off..i checke her out at home and she had a nick on her leg and she shaved top part of her nose..my poor baby was tramatized did't eat well and didn't want to come out her sleeping area unless i took her out so she can use the bathroom and this is not like her.i'm going to see if i upload before and after pictures. read more

The aquatics is in awesome condition. The succulents seem to be dying. The birds, small animals, and reptiles seem to do fine. The aquatics people are great. The blonde cashier is always really great, but it seems like he's the only cashier working when the big lady with short hair and heavy lipstick is there, she doesn't seem to work and just watches the other cashier work. The cashier and the other staff member I delt with were very rude. They acted as if me asking them questions was interrupting their whole day. Bad customer service, also no phone skills whatsoever, not even a "hello thanks for calling petco" just an annoyed "hello?" The only helpful person was the grooming lady, I don't remember her name but she was friendly and answered my question. Train your cashiers to have some better people skills. read more
