It's a small Petco location but has everything. We didn't see the sign for Easter bunny pics when we walked in and were worried they didn't have it but they did. It turned out great. Don't go here The groomer was clearly in a bad mood and frustrated before we even talked to her. I mistakenly still left my dog there. I came back 3 hours later, no cut or nail trim. She said my dog "freaked out and basically had a panic attack in the dryer and has been separated to calm down since. She's never "freaked out " at a groomer before and they should have called me if she was "having a panic attack ". (Wtf does that even mean?!) I took my poor traumatized dog and will never be back. read more

Grooming rewards are a joke. I signed up for the vital care premiere membership with grooming rewards of "every 8th groom free". They claim I never "signed up" for the grooming rewards and what would be my 8th groom free appointment apparently is only my second. Very upset because I love my groomer here, but the rewards is a total scam. read more

My God. The first few times we brought our pups the Petco groomers did an acceptable job if only to trick us into trusting them. These people shaved our pups down to the skin, including their whiskers, tail and ears. Yes. We are aware that these chain stores tend to take the easy way out, but never have seen such rotten disregard for our dogs. Can't leave even an inch of fur? I'm surprised they didn't pull out the straight razor, except these amateurs likely would have killed our dogs with a razor! And I'm the dummy since on my first visit I saw a Golden Doodle shaved to the bone and said to myself, "holy cow, that's just not right". But Petco informed us they'd let us know if that kind of shaving was necessary. Here it is: if you hear the word "shave" in Petco, run. As a matter of fact, don't go to this awful place. Ever. We learned our lesson. Seriously. Don't go. Poor little shaved down puppies. read more

Had an appointment that was canceled an hour before the appointment time because the groomer was sick. Rebooked for the following week. Showed up for the appointment, was told we didn't have an appointment. After showing the text and email confirmation they sent, was told they would squeeze us in but it will be 4-5 hours before my dog would be done. Was told I would be given 30% off, which I was , but they tacked on $28 for a holiday package that was not asked for. Never going back, horrible way to treat customers. read more

I honestly would give Petco 0 stars. I took my dog in for grooming. She's a pure bred dog and ask ahead of time. If they knew how to groom this breed, they said they did. when I picked her up. She was shaved to the bone. The underside of her was bleeding. They shaved off 2 of her nipples. Her underarms were raw and bloody. Her crotch area and thighs were bright red raw. She cried for 2 days straight had to go to the vet. Get antibiotics cortisone, and she hasn't been the same since. Do not take your dog here if you love your dog. read more

I booked an appointment and showed up at the scheduled time... they told me they're groomer was running late..i asked them to call the groomer and was told that he had a family emergency and wasn't working that day... told me I could come back at 2pm and get groomed... i told them I live far away and I would like to leave my dog to be groomed today... they would not agree and insisted i come back later... i find them to be unhelpful and had no intentions of trying to accommodate me.. If you buy anything from the store, make sure you check your receipt on a date if it goes past 30 days we happen to go 11 days past the 30 and try to return They will not work with you, or even give in-store credit, no matter how much money you spent in the store so unfortunately, we will no longer ever shop at Petco ever again and don't recommend them to anyone else read more

Not the cheapest option for your pet's health care, $300 for 1st round of shots...but for my puppy's 1st round of shots I wanted vaccine advice, so I felt compelled to make an appointment, the BIG negative for me was the fact that they don't let you accompany your puppy into the room where she gets her shots. Front reception woman Tammy? was fantastic and super efficient. But based on the fact that you are isolated from your pup for the injections means I won't be back for the 2nd round. Every other vet I ever went to with my other companions were fully transparent and let you hold your dog during vaccinations etc... read more

Hard to find aquarium supplies, they sale the equipment but not maintenance replacement units, poor inventory. Also staff always seem in a bad mode due to store not being well staffed. That was last trip to this store. read more

They cut my poor WHY didn't I read the reviews! No wonder I was able to get an appointment! I just paid $100 for them to BADLY groom my dog. Of course they have you pay before you see your dog! BEWARE!!! I noticed blood smears on my arm when I when to get her, but she was so stressed I just wanted to get her out of there. I get home to blood all over my backseat, they had nicked my poor little elderly dogs lip, twice! And the job they did! I brought her there so she could have a better grooming then I do at home...Boy was I mistaken. I will literally NEVER go to another Petco, for anything, ever again. read more

They should be shut down. If I could really rate, they ate - 12 stars. I found a goldfish in a tank that had a fungus. I inquired about it and got 3 different stories. I finally insisted on buying it and I am happy to say thet this fish who got no treatment, is doing well. I go in tonight to buy plants for my aquarium and ended up vomiting outside. In the the two Goldfish tank, one was dead and one was alive but being eaten by another. When I brought mine home, she was starving, I brought this to the attention of someone that worked there and she stated that the person who was in care of the fishtanks, was promoted and after that it went downhill. DO NOT support them until they get their act together,. I am grateful I save one and I did vomit when I got to my car based on what I saw. I bought several bettas there who all died. Terrible grooming today. Although my dog was there for almost 4 hours and I paid over $100 (plus I also left a tip before seeing her result, which that is my own fault). she looks terrible. Her ears were not cleaned or trimmed, her 'cut' is choppy and awful, it doesn't look like her tail was even brushed, paw trim was not done well, and it doesn't look like there was a sanitary trim done (so anal gland's probably weren't cleaned either). The amount of oil under her ears is absolutely appalling. But what I'm probably most upset with wasn't that I paid over $100 and received MAYBE 20% of what I paid for, it's that they had my dog for 4 hours and she came back with basically nothing done. So why did they have her for 4 hours if she wasn't being worked on?!?! What she in a crate for 3 1/2 hours? (She was picked up at 4pm, the pictures included were taken at 5pm) read more

Wanted to buy saltwater fish but no one to help with purchase. Only associate was a cash at front of the store ringing up transactions.

I've had my pup groomed once at the UTC location. Last grooming was at one of their Sarasota location. That guy was awesome. I haven't been able to reschedule with him because ge travels around training others. This morning he was supposed to be groomed once again at the UTC location and just like that he was dropped. So they require a 48 hr cancelation, but they can just cancel you an hour prior. When I let them know that I'm not pleased with the last minute cancelation she angrily replies with we are doing the best we can. Great customer service Petco...from reading your reviews this seems all too common. read more

I appreciate the efforts to help unwanted cats get adopted by presenting some of the potentials for local shelters. I enjoy stopping in and seeing the kitties, and feel badly when they are stuck with a dog training class - which happens around their cages. The staff, however, seems to enjoy pets which may seem like something obvious but it's nice to see it on display. The selection however is not stellar. More focus to dog toys than cat toys, especially for the holidays. Very limited selection of cat treats - it's actually better to hoof it down the sidewalk to Target. Also, on several occasions the stock is limited - sold out. In short, good store, good location - but often cannot get what I need such as Blue Wilderness dry food for mature cats, a Christmas toy for a cat or certain cans of wet food. read more

Clean, newer store. Ladies working in grooming department seem worn out and exhausted. They do not seem to be as animal friendly as you would expect in the profession they have chosen... Full service grooming including teeth brushing and shave brush out scissoring $65. Had a bad experience which required a visit to emergency vet and stitches for a deep cut during the grooming. They paid for the vet bill and follow up as well as the grooming service provided to both our dogs. Handled the situation well. Have records up to date for each pet they groom. On next visit one of the dogs suddenly had a limp leg which eventually went away but it made us question the quality of the staff. They could improve their customer service, and their passion for pets..... I would try out another location... read more

Very disappointed!!! Drove 30 minutes to get my dog groomed, and after giving the employees his immunization records and all other information they were about to take him back. Mentioned history of seizure several months ago which was when the employee told us to wait and got the manager. The manager then turned us away stating he needs to be seizure free for 1 year before he can go in to be groomed. We were never told about this restriction prior, and had to leave. I noticed a Betta had extremely dirty water today while I was shopping. I have really bad social anxieties, so the thought of asking someone to change the poor little guys water was terrifying, but his water was so dirty I couldn't not tell someone. I found only one associate working, and he was putting up merchandise when I stopped him. Colin wasn't annoyed when I stopped him to tell him what was going on, and he stopped what he was doing to go change the water. Colin, you are one of the kindest humans ever. Thank you for not making me feel like some weird stupid fish girl, thanks for caring about the little Betta and thanks for being an awesome human. AVOID this place. I made an apt which they called me to reschedule for a later date. They rescheduled my apt for a Friday at 4pm and when I got to the store they said they didn't have the time to honor my dog's hair cut apt because the groomer needed 3 to 4 hours to cut my bulldogs hair. I asked to be accommodated for the next day and they refused saying the were all booked. No one took responsibility for changing my apt. They simply told me to go to a different Petco. All of that while they made me wait for 25 minutos in the store trying to find out who made the mistake. Save yourself the aggravation of dealing with unprofessional people. read more

Our dog is now 8 and we had to change him to a special senior food. Other pet stores don't carry it but Petco does. To make sure it was in stock we ordered it online to pick up in store. It was great! It was ready and secure since they make you show your order in your phone plus your ID so no one can take your prepaid items. It took just a minute! Great service and fast if you're in a hurry. I highly recommend. read more

I made a 12 noon appointment for my 2 year old Havanese. They didn't even start his groom until 2 o'clock. He was so distraught from being in a cage in a new place for 2 hours that the groomer said she couldn't trim his hair and told me to come and get him. Very disappointing. read more

!!!!notice!!!!! This is not a review of the actual dog groomers, but a review of their admin staff, as my dog never actually got to the groomers. I scheduled my dog through the admin staff to receive a cut and bath. I had to do this two weeks out because they are incredibly busy. During the booking, I asked numerous questions about the grooming, and even asked if there was anything I missed, and was told everything was set and I was good. Fast forward to today, when I show up with my dog, ready to get her cut. The person I scheduled with was not there, and the groomer who was to work on my dog told me she could not because my dog was "too old" per the "petco policy". I asked where this is stated, as there are no signs, it is not on the website, and nobody told me about it. The groomer replied that the admin lady who scheduled me should have informed of the store policy, and that she is known for screwing this kind of thing up. I asked how this admin lady still had a job, and the groomer said she wondered the same thing. So again this is a review of the store and its policies, not the actual dog groomer. I'll never know how well of a job they do, but I do know that their manager could do a better job, hiring a more competent person. read more

I took my 9 mos old pup to the N Cattleman Sarasota, FL Petco for grooming. This was his first time there. It took 25 mins for someone to show up when I arrived to drop him off. The cashier from Petco was even paging the groomer. Groomer finally came and told me she would call me to p/u in about 2 hrs. I tried calling numerous times after the 2 hr mark with no answer. I was at work so I waited a while longer. At the 4 hr mark and no answer to my calls, I showed up. I waited again for someone to come to the desk for 15 mins. I could hear a dog yelping from the back but couldn't see in. The groomer finally came and I asked why I never received a call or why she didn't pick up my numerous calls. She said she was busy. Then she said "I'll go get him, he's been screaming since I put him in the cage." I paid, expressed my concerns (she stared at me blankly), then left. Ever since, my pup has had huge anxiety issues towards other people. Even people he knows and was not scared of previously. Every little noise has him on edge and anyone that approaches him he tries desperately to get away from. He even pulled out of his harness and took off when my neighbor was talking to him. He is now being put on anxiety med by our vet in hopes it will help to calm him and try to get him used to being around people again. He was NOT like this before I dropped him off that day. It breaks my heart to know that he went through something at the hands of someone who didn't obviously care. This is appalling and the girl with the multi colored hair who groomed him should be FIRED! read more

This location is always a mess and out of stock of items or the items are on pallets in the back room. The prices are either double of what you can get at Petsmart or don't even match their own prices on their website. Went there tonight and the cat litter aisle shelves were bare. While there was only one employee on the floor, 2 on the register and 3 in the back office chatting, apparently there are 15 pallets in the back that arrived the night before that have not been worked, empty shelves, and not one cart in the store. Also, you can never get to the cats/kittens that are available for adoption bc it is blocked off from the dog training gates when they are or aren't in session. This store needs work from upper management off location. read more

I can't rave about this Petco enough. I think I come in at least twice a week. The staff is incomparable. They consistently go above and beyond to make you feel appreciated and taken care. I've had many a stressful day at work and gone to this Petco to de-stress. They are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about what they do, and it truly radiates through their energy and the whole energy of the store and is infectious!
