She'd had a bad experience with a previous groomer so I thought perhaps she was just very frightened. This groomer told me she needed a special needs groomer. He charged me $40 for a bath and brush. She is brushed regularly amd had no mats. I took her to Doggo Den a few days ago and they did a wonderful job. I told them about the "biting" complaint and they had no problem with her. They said, like most dogs she didn't like the dryer but never attempted to bite. Either this groomer is in the wrong profession, or something there causes dogs to be extremely anxious.

My dog, Rupert, was relatively calm when I left, and when I picked him up, I believe he also enjoyed the experience. He was happy to see me, but not "get me out of here". I called a day before and Andrew was kind enough to accommodate a grooming the next t day. I drove an hour to get to the shop and explained what we wanted especially for her face. I wanted a teddy bear cut look which is a more rounder cute shape leaving more hair around the face but maybe they don't know what that is? You would think they'd know being a grooming shop for so long. Even though our dog had a little matting under her throat area it wasn't for them to shave it all the way up and the sides of her face. I was left very disappointed and can't wait for her hair to grow out. I also noticed her skin very red on neck area. I appreciate that Andrew was nice and got down to our dogs level making her feel somewhat comfortable because she does get nervous I just wished he would had listened to my request and followed through. I don't even know who really cut our dogs hair because he said there are lady groomers in the back. Pics show when I got her groomed back in March of this year (look/shape on the face I wanted) compared to the narrow looking shape they gave her so sad. However, I wanted to point-out something that I hope someone else can benefit from. You should know ahead of time: There is a 15-pound weight limit for dogs, and, perhaps stick with just Stacy as your groomer. You can actually stop reading right there, because the rest of the review is simply sharing my observations. Based on Dogs of Venice reviews, I was excited to have Stacy groom my Maltese. When I called, she got back to me quickly. She was booked out, but said her daughter (with 2 years of experience) could groom and she (Stacy) would oversee the cut. I brought my dog in at the appointment time and met Stacy, who was a lovely person--it's no wonder she has so many good reviews. I handed Stacy my dog, chatted a little (about the cut and about my pup), and headed out. Shortly after I got home, I received a call to come back--my dog was apparently over the weight limit. Stacy explained she has back issues and did not want to injure herself. This seemed strange because 1. my dog weighed 13.5 pounds at the vet last Tuesday and 2. Stacy's daughter was supposed to be grooming my dog, rather than Stacy herself. There's really no sense in trying to debate it when someone calls you back to get your dog, right? And I certainly did not want anyone to hurt themselves. So I went back. Long story short, when I arrived to get my dog Heidi, Stacy was apologetic and her daughter was sitting on a chair on the other side of the room looking at the floor, with her ears covered. I don't know what that was all about--maybe the dogs barking--but she didn't get up or say anything or even look my way--which just felt odd and a little unprofessional. The moral of the story is--know they have a weight limit--it might be a good idea to ask them to weigh your dog at drop off if you think you're close--and perhaps most importantly, wait for availability so Stacy can groom your pooch.
