For weeks I had to give her medicated baths to help with the discomfort, wearing a collar and medicated baths every few days.. She is a Woodle, and the last visit, her hair was left way to long, but worse than that, in back she was overly shaved in a huge area, that is raw, she wants to chew and lick at it and hardly pees, I think due to the pain on her skin as she goes. They cut her gum & lip, that they had to have known and I was not informed. On the way home I saw the blood coming down her face, she has 2 large scabs. She was supposed to get a poodle face cut in the face, pic is an example, instead they left it long in my opinion to cover the injuries they gave her. Look at the picture, speaks a thousand words. Don't risk going though what we have done. My poor dog is up half the night trying to lick the bald area and scratch at her mouth. She has the collar on, but she is in a lot of discomfort, and I'm up half the night from this too. It's been about 6 weeks now, she is getting better, but still trying to get at the bald area, as the hair is starting to return, and still has large scabs from being cut in the mouth area. Her eyes never were runny, with this cut, both eyes were runny. Wrong, just plain wrong Manager was giving excuses to the other complaints on the reviews here. I can see a mishap, things happen, but not to be informed, there is no way they didn't see blood from her mouth. They'll say I didn't report this soon enough, a lot going on in my life along with all the time spent taking care of her. No apology, nothing.

It's never fun to write a not-great review. I'm giving 3-stars because there was no grooming...and…read moretherefore, I can't adequately rate that. However, I wanted to point-out something that I hope someone else can benefit from. You should know ahead of time: There is a 15-pound weight limit for dogs, and, perhaps stick with just Stacy as your groomer. You can actually stop reading right there, because the rest of the review is simply sharing my observations. Based on Dogs of Venice reviews, I was excited to have Stacy groom my Maltese. When I called, she got back to me quickly. She was booked out, but said her daughter (with 2 years of experience) could groom and she (Stacy) would oversee the cut. I brought my dog in at the appointment time and met Stacy, who was a lovely person--it's no wonder she has so many good reviews. I handed Stacy my dog, chatted a little (about the cut and about my pup), and headed out. Shortly after I got home, I received a call to come back--my dog was apparently over the weight limit. Stacy explained she has back issues and did not want to injure herself. This seemed strange because 1. my dog weighed 13.5 pounds at the vet last Tuesday and 2. Stacy's daughter was supposed to be grooming my dog, rather than Stacy herself. There's really no sense in trying to debate it when someone calls you back to get your dog, right? And I certainly did not want anyone to hurt themselves. So I went back. Long story short, when I arrived to get my dog Heidi, Stacy was apologetic and her daughter was sitting on a chair on the other side of the room looking at the floor, with her ears covered. I don't know what that was all about--maybe the dogs barking--but she didn't get up or say anything or even look my way--which just felt odd and a little unprofessional. The moral of the story is--know they have a weight limit--it might be a good idea to ask them to weigh your dog at drop off if you think you're close--and perhaps most importantly, wait for availability so Stacy can groom your pooch.

Our first stop was a large place on Hwy 70, and it was heartbreaking -- it felt like a mill, and our boys came home looking rough and stressed. By pure luck, we rented a house across the street from Mel, and a neighbor told us she was a groomer. That was such a blessing. From the very first appointment, I could see the difference. Even though our pups had been poorly groomed before, Mel worked so gently and skillfully with them. She explained that it might take a few visits to get them looking like true poodles again, but she still made them look and feel so much better right away. What stands out the most is not just her talent, but her kindness and genuine love for animals. My boys absolutely adore her -- they run to her happily, which says it all. I am beyond grateful to have found her, and I recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone who wants their pets cared for by someone truly special.
