Booked my Golden Retrievers appointment two weeks before the date of our service , was told 3 hours approximately for a wash n cut , I never got a phone call . So I showed up 3 hours later. The groomer had gone to lunch because my four-year-old golden was fighting the blow dryer??????? , which is not at all common to the breed or to HER , she's been there multiple times .When I finally received her from the groomer she was still wet, extremely disappointed with the 4 hour service.. So appalled at the lack of service at this location. They do NOT care about you or your dog in the slightest. Based on the attitude of the "manager" Samantha, it is evident where the rest of the staff get's their cues. She is very rude and condescending. They cancel appointments at the last minute. They do not respond to messages EVER. Last time I picked up my dog they did not even take care of her face - which is the number one reason I bring her in - I can give her a bath myself! They were not apologetic about it at all, simply do not care. Went to the vet and they took care of it in approximately 1 minute - what they said they "couldn't do". I also pay extra for teeth cleaning, which they do not actually do. My dog had an abscessed tooth and no one mentioned it to me (hence why I was at the vet). Today was their last chance with me - my appointment is at 10am. They called me at 9:30am to cancel. Never never again. PLEASE spread the word and do NOT take your dog here! read more

Went in to get a small bag of dog food wellness brand(Petco's line) and 2 bags of dental treats one being on clearance found at front of store and 1 bag of cat treats. There was only 1 person Kelli working in front, nothing said to us in line about sorry for wait, never called anyone up to help but I'm sorry if another employee was on break or lunch, but at 5:30-6pm not the time to man register single handedly. I ended up putting my items on a random shelf telling my 9 year old we will go to the Keizer one tomorrow as this is not ok, even though our pups needed food tonight. Keizer is closer to our home, but went to this location while my son was in an appointment. When you have 1 person working and people doing a pickup and trying to do purchase transactions separately after it should be handled fairly quickly and tell your people waiting in line sorry for any inconvenience or put in self check out as I would have paid and been gone and not used a 20% off coupon taped to treats. read more

If we're just talking about having a place to get all of your pet supplies, where you can actually take some of your pets inside the store, I'd probably give this a higher rating. But we're not. Petco is a place where you can also go to buy live pets and I have a real problem with the conditions in which these animals are kept. The fish are an overcrowded tanks far above the recommended population for the Bio load creates. At one location, Lancaster, I even saw a pile of dead goldfish inside one of the tanks. I get it, fish die and it's not always their fault. I have bought fish from there, center.street) that passed away within a week from a fungus. When I went in, and told them about it at first they didn't want to refund me until I mentioned that it died with a white fungus and then the aquatic center personnel had a knowing look. Later admitting that many of the bettas that were there had the same one. I chose not to get another fish from there and I went to the Keizer location instead where the aquatic manager said the same thing was happening with theirs yet they were still being sold. I recently went in to the Kaiser location to look at bearded dragons. I was devastated to see that there were too many in each small tank, far smaller than the recommended tank size. there was a sand substrate which is known to cause impaction in bearded dragons and the humidity was too high and the temperature far too low for the species. It was really difficult because I know the special needs they have for UVB and for heat and without meeting these standards they are at risk for metabolic bone disorders. this is not only uncomfortable for the animal but it adds an additional expense to the adopter. it breaks my heart that a place that touts itself as a leader in pets and pet supplies would encourage these sorts of conditions. I know it's not the staff's fault and that they can only do what they're told but corporate should have higher standards for animal welfare. The care sheet on many of these animals is incorrect, recommending enclosure sizes that are far too small. A goldfish should not live in a bowl. A betta needs more than a 2-gallon tank let alone the tiny containers they store them in. I understand there are limits to how they can store their animals with having so many, but if you can't do it correctly you shouldn't have as many. I think everyone would be understanding if they had fewer animals and housed them appropriately. This would also set an example for the types of enclosures and environments that these animals need so that they aren't adopted and placed in the exact same situations. I'm pretty devastated. When it comes to a pet supply store it has everything you need, But I certainly can't justify adopting an animal from them knowing how they'll treat the next one that occupies the cage. read more

I'm wondering if Petco should be in the vet business at all. I just received my third notice that, according to Petco's records, my cat Chloe is overdue for her shots and senior checkup. Actually not, as Chloe was euthanized by Petco last December. A bit insensitive as well as unorganized, to keep records of shots but not euthanasia. I tried several times during open hours to call the Center St. Petco vet office to ask them to stop sending these messages, but, as usual over the last couple of years, no response. I didn't leave a message because previous efforts to leave messages with the general Petco number were never communicated to the Center St. vet staff. My recent efforts to leave a review on the Petco site were rejected, possibly because of an earlier review I left on another vet issue involving my cat a few months ago -- an issue that yielded a response from Petco that it would reach out to me. That didn't happen either. Bottom line: Petco vet care communication is terrible! read more

I ordered dog food for my puppy to be delivered the next day. When I received an email stating my dog food was delivered, I looked on my front porch and it was not there. We checked our mailroom and it was not there. I ordered this food to be delivered as my puppy needed it. The guy on the phone said it was delivered to a porch with green carpet, I advised him our porch is bare wood. He also said another bag could not delivered it until tomorrow or I could go pick it up at the store. I will not do that as I paid for the convenience of it being delivered to my home. I advised him as long as we have our puppy and she is 3 months old so it will be for 15 years that we will never step foot in one of there stores ever again. I had him cancel my order and refund my money as well as cancel my repeat delivery. read more

If you want a store that sells sick (any house hold pet you can think of) this is your place. Bought a few fish from here and one of the people bagging them managed to squish one of the fish which happened to die later that night. The remaining ones died a few days later and the fish I had previously from a different store i've been able to keep throughout this whole mishap. You can even walk through the store and see some of the betas they have look sick or depressed as well as some of their other animals. Don't shop here unless sick animals is your go to. read more

Took both of my Bichons to be groomed today. My female came home with an uneven close cut. They were supposed to do 1/2". They cut her tail and shaped it like a poodle. Absolutely not ok with this breed. She looks terrible and her tail will take at least a year to grow back. It was not matted. I brushed it out and then pic combed it just before we took her in. Jennifer did a horrible horrible job. Our male dog looks like a dalmation because they shaved him and so his skin and brown spots is what you see and he has no fur. It's not even a style. Sunscreen for him for awhile. At least they left his tail. He won't open his left eye and it's extremely watery so probably a trip to his vet in the morning. Kristen knew what I wanted. These are two groomers that do not know how to groom a dog. Kristen and Jennifer are AWFUL. My neighbor took her dog this week and they shaved her also. I guess it's the only haircut they know. What a way to make a dog hate getting groomed. read more
