Grooming department Venessa and Jackie. My pet co app told me my grooming appointment was at 10 am, then click on details and it said noon. Called the day before to confirm, no call back till we were ready to leave the house. Already scheduled all my appointments for the 10am slot. It's 930 when they call, can't change pick up times. Told Venessa over the phone I didn't want to cancel. Arrived at 1130, waited, was not help till 1205, not a big deal, except she said she cancelled my appointment. What a joke! She saw us waiting there for over a half hour before anyone approached us or told us. read more

Terrible experience. Brought 71lb dog in to groomer appt, just for a wash and nail trim. Listed him as a large...we were sent home because the groomer said he was too large. What a joke. Employee needs an attitude adjustment. Happy to bring my business elsewhere - avoid this location. read more

Do NOT take your dog here for grooming...Jackie (who claims to be the grooming salon manager) is rude, cold, and nasty with humans.....cannot imagine how she treats innocent animals who CANNOT speak for themselves once she has them in the back room. I had to tell her I did NOT feel comfortable leaving my dog with her due to her demeanor. A month ago, the salon canceled a grooming appointment 1 day before the appointment because a salon employee quit at the last minute, I was told (no wonder if this is the type of "manager" they had to deal with). Lodged a complaint with corporate after Jackie's behavior today, and they are doing an investigation into Jackie now (they should be able to pull camera footage up and see her behavior). Have been taking 2 dogs here for YEARS and while she has been cold and rude before, she never exhibited this level of unstable behavior before....to the point I was absolutely uncomfortable leaving my beloved dog with her. The other employees (cashiers, etc.) have always been amazing and friendly with A+ customer service.....but I will never step foot in this store again as long as store owner allows employees like Jackie to work there, and I am canceling my vital premiere membership after several years of coming to this store. read more

The store is well stocked, but I worry about the animals kept here. While in today, I saw a hamster who may have had some kind of medical issue around his tail, the ferret area was COVERED in poop like it hadn't been cleaned in days, and their ball pythons had incredibly low humidity(as they usually do when I find them here) at 30%. Being a ball python owner myself, I always feel bad for these guys because they are stuck in a small area together(a no no), improper hides, and terrible humidity. It should be at 60% minimum. I'm giving away least two stars because the staff is friendly and I've always found what I needed, but to be honest I'll be trying to find a different shop for my needs. Thank God I'm coming here for dead animals. read more

I see a lot of bad reviews for pet grooming. I don't know anything about that, but I came in last night for some cat food and really had a great experience. The salesperson who helped me was Tyler. He was fantastic! He showed me all sorts of cat foods that might work for my cat and explained differences between the various brands. I really appreciated the time he took with me. So far, my cat likes what we bought. I will be back for the great selection and knowledgeable sales staff. Thank you Tyler! read more

I guess it's just me, but I thought this was a rotten pet shop. Their selection isn't as good as PetsMart, and their store looks shabby and unkempt in comparison. I did not notice any difference in the prices, they both seemed more expensive than necessary and if I wasn't looking for something special or a large selection, obviously I'd buy elsewhere. What really made me dislike this place was strolling past a cage full of some kind of small pet birds, who were crowded in like concentration camp victims and looked uncared-for and stressed out. The cage was literally the small size cage you'd expect to see one or two birds in, and there were like 20 of them in there. I had to suppress an urge to open the gate and yell "fly free! get out while you can!" What a depressing place. read more

We were here today with our dog. While the store was a little dirty, the staff were so friendly. They took the time to talk to us about our dog and even got down on the floor to pet him. Prices are similar to other pet stores although the selection seemed less. Overall we found what we needed and had a good experience. read more

The North Petco is the worst pet store I have ever been to . The employees are extremely rude and the store is a mess and never organized. The grooming area gives you a time frame that your dogs haircut will take and when you come back at that said time and all they have done is a bath it's ridiculous What's the point in making a appointment. I would never recommend them to anyone. read more

The only thing I like about Petco, is the fact that they offer a wide variety of Betta fish. I purchased a beautiful Delta Tail and Elephant Ear. They also have male Halfmoon/Veiltail/Crowntail/DoubleTail/DeltaTail/Elephant Ear and Plakats. They have a small variety of female bettas, too! They also had one fish other stores didn't have: Dwarf Indian Pufferfish. They have planted tanks and a SMALL selection of saltwater fish. The reason for the 3 stars: some of the bettas (at least 5) had died in their small cups. I was so sad and heartbroken. When I looked at the saltwater tank, they had a few dead fish skeleton only - so they had been there a while. I wish they would take better care of their fish. Staff members weren't as knowledgeable about their own fish, but they did go and get someone who was. They offer FREE water testing. PS - The photos they submitted are not at all what you will see at the ACTUAL store. The layout is completely different. I had to google the location because I thought I had accidentally clicked on a different store. The only real one is the one with their logo PETCO taken by another reviewer. read more

Petco North grooming is terrible. I drove a long way to make my prescheduled appointment with my 63 pound German Shepherd, and when I walked in the door the kid at the desk doesn't say "hello," "good afternoon," or anything. Just..."how much does your dog weigh." When I told her she said, "sorry, because you stated in our database that she's a medium dog we don't have time to take her today." This, after planning my day around this appt. and driving clear across town to get there. The unfair thing is that when we registered our dog in their system she WAS a medium dog, but she's grown, as German Shepherd puppies are well-known to do! But their system does not account for this, and we don't recall being asked to update her size when we made the appt. The manager, Vicky, said they couldn't take her because "large dogs take two hours longer than medium dogs." Really??? The cut-off from a medium dog to a large dog is 50 lbs. in their system, so since my dog is 63 pounds the additional 13 lbs adds 2 hours of work? Really??? The truth is they were under staffed today (even though our appointment was made days ago) and they didn't want to do the work (no difference to the groomers; paid the same either way, probably). Canceling my dog's appointment, and blowing me off, lightened their workload for the day. Good riddance, Petco. We've been bringing our GS to Petco for grooming about 6 times a year. At $100 per visit, do the math. You just lost a valuable customer. read more

Bought a fish here yesterday and today its belly-up. I have had fish for years not my fault, annoying.

We are first time dog owners of three days now. We have spent so much time planning for and shopping for our new family member (Sally) and the friendly staff at Petco have been there for us throughout. Certainly the prices on items here are higher than walmart but they are not as high as PetSmart. We will definitely come back here many times I am sure. read more

While they do have a good selection of pets they are not taken care of at all. When I was there I looked around and noticed many of the guinea pig had no food, there were crickets in the snake enclosures and there was no water in many of the rodent cages. I asked several floor members about it and they said, "Guinea pigs don't eat every day so we don't need to keep food for them. When we run out of mice we feed the snakes crickets as snacks, and we swap out water between cages every day as we don't have enough water supplies for their in stock animals." As an owner of many animals I can tell you that guinea pigs do eat every day, snakes don't eat crickets and clean water is a must have 24/7 for any animal. I'd buy every animal they had and give it a safe home but that'd just be supporting their business as they'd replace them with their warehouse breeders. Don't support Petco! read more

The dog grooming here is less than acceptable. I brought my dog here for the first time today and, upon examining her when I got home, noticed there are multiple areas where they did not clip her fur. Around her nose, ears, all four legs and paws, belly, there are missed areas. Along with the longer areas of fur, she smells just like she did when I brought her in--stinky! I do not think they even gave her a bath! Probably just sprayed her down and did the cut (if they even sprayed her down at all)! Now I'm going to have to give her a bath tonight just so that she smells better! Just quite annoying since I paid for a full-service grooming appointment, which should have included a bath at the very least! Overall, I would not recommend Petco for any grooming needs. read more
