Took my Pyrenees in to have her undercoat taken care of. I had brushed her for over an hour and made little progress. When I picked her up from Vanity Fur, she looked like a puppy again. We'd all thought she was getting fat, but it turns out she was just fluffy! She is looking and feeling her best again and we are so appreciative of the care she received! Charged me extra without letting me know in advance or at the end when I came to pick my dog up. I only found out they added an extra fee after I asked why the total cost is higher than usual. Didn't groom his ears at all. His face fur was cut uneven. And when I asked why the price was higher than usual, they told me it took longer because he was scared and the matted fur. This was his 4th time there and I never had that feedback. Additionally, they called me in the middle of his grooming to ask if I wanted to pay extra to remove his matted fur or just shave it down. I said to shave it down, and yet, they charge me extra for the matted fur and still shaved him down. He typically got groomed by Naomi who was wonderful. Found out she works at petco north - I will be bringing my dog over there for future grooming. Plus it's cheaper. This place is too overpriced for the minimal work that they do. I paid about $100 for a 26 pound dog. I advise others just looking for another location. Not worth the cost. read more

I attempted to take my dog on two separate occasions to get a haircut at Vanity Fur. The first time they said my dog was ready to be picked up after being there for 2 1/2 hours. When I arrived they had not even completed his puppy haircut (which is a bath, blow dry, and face trim). I scheduled another haircut thinking that I would give Vanity Fur another opportunity. During the scheduling of this appointment, I wanted to schedule a regular haircut for his next appointment so he wouldn't get matted. The owner said it was important to ease them into the haircut process and start with the puppy experiences first. About 15 minutes after I dropped him off they called and said that he was too big for a puppy cut and they wouldn't be able complete this service today. I explained that the owner, Lisa recommended this service to me. So they kept him, but after two and half hours they called again. This time, they said his hair was matted. They said he either needs to be shaved or pay one dollar per minute to be dematted BUT they didn't have time to do that today. I would need to bring him back tomorrow. When I picked him up, his haircut was very uneven on his body. They didn't even cut his face, legs, and they gave him one bad bald spot on his neck. His ears and neck were extremely matted. Obviously, I did not bring him back the next day to have him shaved down in the middle of the winter. I cut him myself and dematted him, so he still has his beautiful winter coat. The best part of it all, I was charged 77 dollars for this underwhelming service. There are only two places in Rochester I would avoid like the plague. This is one of them!! read more

Vanity Fur dosnt seem to understand why as a business you need to do what you say you're going to do. Not everybody has all day to sit around and wait for them to get a job done at their leisure. That is unexceptable in any other industry. Needless to say, I will take my business elsewhere. I still paid for the full price. No discount was offered. No apology was made. Instead they tried to blame me. So think about going somewhere else. This place will lie to you and steal your money. My advice to Vanity Fur is don't book appointments you can't keep (you had my dog sitting around for 90 mins before you started working on him), learn how to communicate with your customers and figure out what running a business effectively actually means. A little training on customer service wouldn't hurt either. Just read some of the negative reviews. Seems the owner likes to use the standard answer of we don't and have never had a client by the persons name. Funny how the owner expects us to believe that multiple random people have come to her Google listing just to leave a bad review. They also seemed to lie about her business for no reason either. I'm willing to bet money that her response to my review is we never had a customer by my name. They groom cats too! Took my cat here to get some stubborn mats cut out, as well as the fur around his butt and his claws trimmed. I called a week ahead and they were very accommodating with an inflexible schedule. Dropped my cat off in a carrier and picked him up in about half an hour. Although we couldn't go in due to covid and watch, I think my cat overall had a good experience and was stress free coming home. Staff were very friendly and nice. Heads up: You'll need to provide up to date vaccination paperwork for your pets day of. They also ask for a deposit when making an appointment. read more

The style of this shop is somewhat old school, but super cute. All the dogs that are there are visible when you walk in. My dog gets anxious when he is alone, so being able to see that he was kenneled but could still see everything going on was so comforting. Other places usually shove the dog's in some back room in a kennel, which I have hated in the past. Call ahead to schedule your dog's appointment as this place books a few weeks ahead of time, and for good reason! I brought my dog here for a haircut, and it turned out so good! They asked lots of questions to make sure he got the style I wanted for him. They also called my vet since I forgot my dog's vaccination records, which was so nice of them. She's always happy to come in, which tells me a lot; and she's always relaxed and happy when we pick her up (and so beautiful!) I was told walk-ins were welcome, but when I showed up during posted business hours, the door was locked and no one answered the phone. I'd rather drive further for someone who's consistently available. Waiting to see if it was a mistake was the worst part. The open sign was also up, so it was overall a frustrating experience. I brought my 16-year-old long-haired cat in today to be de-matted, and I could not be more pleased with the service. Lisa was booked out for two weeks, but said if I came right over, she would fit me in. She was concerned about leaving an elderly cat in that condition for another two weeks, and I appreciated her going the extra mile to get us in. I stayed with the cat and helped to position her so Lisa could shave her belly. Although my kitty meowed and shook a little as she regarded all the dogs in their kennels, none of them barked at her to add to her stress, and she didn't fight Lisa at all. She seemed to know she was in good hands, and that this procedure was in her best interest. Lisa was extremely professional and her rates are very reasonable. I did not further traumatize my cat by having her bathed, so I can't speak to that aspect of the business, but the de-matting was very well done.
