Never have I ever experienced such horrible customer service as I did today in the Renton Highlands store. I arrived at about 1:01 PM for a curbside pickup and called the store as instructed. I got a busy signal. For the next 10 minutes and 14 tries, all I got was a busy signal. With grave concern, I got out of my car, poked my head in the store - no one was to be seen. So, I called out "Hello? I am here for a curbside pick-up! But your phone is busy". Two people came out - a young woman and a man, whom I learned later was the manager named Enrique. I explained my problem. They said their phones are working fine. I called again, held up the phone so hopefully they could hear the busy signal (which I doubt they could from 6 feet away). They said my phone was broken. Finally, they said they would go "work on my order" and told them my name. After a half hour, nothing had happened. So, I stuck my head in again. No one could be seen. I called out, "Hi! Did you forget about me? I am still waiting for my curbside pickup order". After a minute the same young woman came out, this time with a different man - the dog trainer. I explained the problem again. The young woman, with a cell phone in her hand retorted snottily, "I am waiting for your phone call". I pointed out I talked to her face to face 30 minutes ago and was told they would get my order. They both got snippy and told me to leave. I told them the order was already paid for - how were they going to get my $41 back to me? Finally, the dog trainer went and got the order and brought it out. They made it clear that we are at fault. He tried calling, also getting the busy signal. Never will we be back. read more

This store has issues with its fish. The feeder goldfish tank dirty water drain device was a little grate literally half stuffed with dead fish. One tank had tropical fish eating their own dead. One had a number of small dead frogs just laying on the gravel. At least five or six had dead fish. read more

Grooming department is horrible. Got a Call after 3.45 hrs and said they couldnt finish my dog since she wasn't doing well and was acting aggressive. She's a 10 month old yorkie. She's only been groomed 2 other times at a different grooming facility (I only scheduled with them because the other place was booked out so far and was hoping this would work since I live closer to Petco).. so now my dog is half groomed and looks crazy till I can get her somewhere else. They also informs me that they don't do certain restraints like petsmart does so it makes it more difficult for them to groom when they have a difficult dog.. that made no sense to me. Plus they called me a hour after I dropped her off since they were not sure what I wanted. Just seemed like a very unprofessional grooming department. I WILL NEVER GO BACK!! Just lost a local potential customer. read more

This place carries the food that our Maltese likes. He's a pretty picky eater, probably because he's a senior dog. When you live that long, you deserve to be picky. For a small sized shop, I feel they have a good variety. The store is clean and the stock is organized and easy to access. Help is friendly. Definitely the reason went we keep coming back to toss store. read more

Still loving this place, I had to share another review. Our dogs are regulars here now and Jessica always does such a fantastic job with our two boys. I love her!!!! The store manager is the worst! I went in here about a month ago to buy some supplies for my fish which she claims to be an expert on and my fish died from her recommendations. I went in to return and she was very rude to us and wouldn't let us return the products even with proof of purchase under my petco number account. read more

Each time I hit THIS Petco, I am pleasantly pleased at the cleanliness and superior organization of products. As if that wasn't a good enough reason to continue to make this my go-to for the only tennis balls my dog likes, I have never been here when at least two staff members have asked if I need assistance. Additionally, when I actually have needed assistance I have been immediately able to find someone. Perhaps this relatively new store "lucked out"...I genuinely mean it when I say that their staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. For my bigger ticket items, I am a Mud Bay girl for my black Labrador...if Petco carried my food, this location would get a 5 star....shocking even me that a chain could get a 5. I don't trust many people with my dogs. Kim Wood at the Renton Petco Grooming Salon is one exception. She is amazing and kind. My dogs love her. I don't care where she works I would follow her anywhere to get my dogs bathed and groomed. read more

PSA - DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS TO BE GROOMED AT PETCO - RENTON HIGHLANDS We took our dogs to be groomed today at Petco in the Renton Highlands. We take them to the groomers every other month and have been to a few different places and usually are pretty happy with the service. Today was different, however. We received a call half way through saying that Paloma was peeing a little on the table and they suspected a UTI. (Groomers or Doctors?!) They said they were unable to do the grooming because she would not stand up, and only did the bath. When Ryan got them home they couldn't walk straight and we're struggling to walk at all. They seemed drugged - red eyes, stumbling around, jumpy at noises or being touched at all, zoning out, lethargic, not interested in food or water, completely out of it and not themselves. He brought them home at 5:30. Anyone that knows our dogs know what 6pm means at our house- Feeding time - if we don't feed them by 5:30 they are asking for dinner. Our small dog Rogue threw up poop after coming inside the house. Now BOTH dogs are like this, they are both Australian Shepard's, very energetic. THIS IS A PSA TO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE WITH YOUR DOGS. I have never left a yelp review in my life, but felt it my civic duty to help others protect their pets. The manager took no ownership and was giving all sorts of excuses. This is completely unacceptable and we will NEVER be back. read more

This location is wonderful. They have very friendly employees that are very helpful. Checkout is quick and easy too ( Cody was super nice). I wanted to give a special thank you to Kim in the grooming department. I brought in my newly adopted 5 year old Chihuahua to get her nails clipped. I was able to watch her handle my pup through the glass and she was ever so gentle. I will be coming back to this location based on the customer service I received on May 9th. read more

Typical box store pet store. It has what we need for quick inexpensive leashes and collars and such. Grooming is hit or miss depending on stylist and appointments can be about 2 weeks out. I was shocked that I had found a kennel online for petco and they were not able to honor the less expensive price in store even though the was their own website. read more

I have been a regular customer of the Renton Highlands store for a number of years. Two years ago I got a chihuahua/jack russel terrier mix puppy. I started to bring her in to get her nails clipped and she was scared to death. The two girls in the grooming section were wonderful - they picked her up from the back and took her in and cut her nails from the back so she couldn't see them. She got so she actually didn't shake any more. Yesterday- 11/15/18 I took her in. When I got there there were 4 young people in the back where they do the grooming and one was combing and styling the other girls hair - no pets to be seen. A girl came out and said she couldn't pick my dog up anymore and couldn't use our leash - she looped the leash around the dogs neck and DRUG her through the door. They told me to leave that she would be better if she couldn't see me. A minute later a young man came out and said she had tried to bite so they wouldn't cut her nails. I asked why they drug her in and they said they had to walk her in because of policy! I asked for a manager and a large, bleach blond woman came out and would not give me her name as I told her I wanted to send in a complaint. She was rude, told me that she was going to see that the Saturday groomers NEVER violated the policy's again. I WILL NEVER EVER GO INTO THAT STORE AGAIN after seeing my pet treated like that and then me being treated like that. She stomped out to the store when I told her I had asked for her name and the clerk didn't know it. BAD BAD ANIMAL TREATMENT as well as customer treatment. read more

It is a nice clean store & for the most part I like in every way but two. Check out is SOOO SLOW... Secondly, they do not at all appreciate my business...at check out you need to be club member to get sale prices. They did not mention that as I was checking out & my bad for not noticing.. ...so I'll 'vent' here on Yelp.. that is what Yelp is for right? Just bought a bag of food & a toy and they just ripped me off for $6.50... So, I'm not going back, I'll run into Walmart or better yet my local NON-CORPORATE neighborhood pet-store Fairwood Pet's & pay .75 more for a bag of food.. A side note: Walmart has the same doggy toys at about 40% less. read more

I've brought my dog for grooming services several times to this store. The first a few visits were great and my dog was happy to return. He is a very social and a curious dog. Several month ago I brought him back and as soon as we walked inside, he wiggle himself out of his collar and refused to go in, which seemed very strange to me. But I didn't think much of it and brought him again yesterday and same thing happened again when he refused to go in and the girl literally had to drag him inside. I was told I was going to get a phone call when he's done, but I informed them that I could pick him up right after work. I never got the call, and when I got there 4 and half hour later, my dog seemed wet. When I asked why he's still wet, I was told he just had some water which seemed odd because his paws and a tail looked wet too. When I put him inside my car, I noticed immediately that my car started smelling like a dirty, wet dog. When I brought him home, as soon as I walked in my husband and son noticed the smell too saying that he smelled better before he went in for grooming. My dog stays indoor all the time and I regularly give him bath, the only reason I take him for grooming because I'm scared to cut his nails since they black. After my last visit, it was a confirmation for me that my dog will never go back to this store again for grooming services. It's not just about me wasting money, but also makes me wonder what is happening behind the scene that my dog is scared to go back. read more

Terribly unprofessional. I took my golden there today for a full service appointment and thet called me only 10 min later just when we had gotten home saying she was ready. Then when we asked them if she was bathed they said no and that they didnt have enough time. They ended up calling us back and saying nevermind they could do it then later when they called to tell us she was done the girl there told me we needed to come there immediately and I could hear my dog barking and crying. They said she had scratched the kennel and broke her nails and they were bleeding. When we came to get her she had no broken nails they were cut WAY to short to the point where they bled :( very unhappy we were lied to!! They did nothing to make it right for us. I wont be coming back here ever again. read more

I had a great experience with Petco that left me leaving with a smile. I called in advance and was greeted kindly and given all the appropriate information I needed. When I arrived at the store there was something I couldn't find and when I asked about it- Greg was more than happy to show me a few products like that one. Greg also assisted me when I asked about price matching. Overall it was one of the better customer service experiences I've ever had. Usually I go to petsmart, but one amazing visit at petco is persuading me to switch over to petco alltogether. Thanks Greg and thanks Petco! read more

Went twice to this groomer after years of grooming in Issaquah Petsmart, This Petco store was closer for me so I make appointment it was at 9:00am I parked and got there and they didn't even open main door until 9:07am, and the groomers were not there so I waited 15 minutes dropped dog off came back few hours later the grooming wasn't that great but I accepted. I Made another appointment 6 weeks later, They picked the schedule at the time they had open (2 ) weeks away at 9:00am same groomer I had the first time so now I proceed to make my own appointments for other things while dog is getting groomed, I was there at 9:00am main door not open until 8 minutes later, proceeded to groomer station I was informed no one there to groom my dog.. Yes I was pissed ! no-one calls me to inform me, my dog still needs grooming , I have scheduled other appointments for other services for me after 9:00am. SO Now I have a dog in car I cannot make other appointments, so go home and start over making 5 appointments . Worst the Worst. They picked the dogs appointment and time-- SUCKS read more

I took my dog for a grooming appointment and 3 hours later I get a call that my dog is scared of the hair dryer and that they can't groom him because they are now out of time for the day. However, they gave him a bath and that I need to pay for the bath and pick up a wet dog! I tried to talk with the Manager on duty, David and he was NOT available as he was giving a dog training class. No other employee could assist with my complaint. Finally, after waiting an hour, the Manager on Duty, David, came over and was obviously not trained in "Management". Instead of diffusing the situation and providing good customer service, he only made it worse. He demanded we pay for "bath" services and wouldn't listen to any complaint. He walked away and stated "get out of my store!" This experience was the WORST customer service I have ever received. David should clearly NOT be an acting Manager as he lacks the 5 skills that exemplify what a Good Manager should have: 1)Embody the brand attitude. Meaning, the Manager should exude a positive attitude and set a good example for the co-workers. David did NOT do this. 2) Accept criticism and fault. Which David, clearly did NOT do! 3)Take a hands-off approach. The Manager, David, did NOT empower his co-workers to handle manager related duties when he was leading a dog training class. He did not make himself available to handle customer complaints and did not empower his staff to do anything without his approval. 4) Ask questions and listen to others. David was clearly NOT interested in hearing my complaint and started making excuses for his staff and then walked away and stated "get out of my store!" 5) Show equal respect. David did NOT act in a professional manner or exemplify any characteristics of an Effective Good Manager. The General Manager of the store, Jim, was Not available and the staff refused to give any information on how to reach him. I think Petco needs to rethink who they place in the position of "Manager on Duty" and do some MAJOR training to these staff members on what good customer service is. Petco just lost a once loyal customer to their store. I would have given this review a "O", but it wasn't an option. This post is for the Petco in the Highlands in Renton on 4th Street. read more

TERRIBLE customer service. They sold me a sick water dragon and I didn't even have the animal for 8 weeks and his body rotted from the inside out due to an internal parasite contracted from the store. I was told I had 60 days to return my items, not specifying that was for merchandise only, and upon returning my rotted lizard I received little to no customer service and was told there was nothing to be done and a quick shove out of the door (Rob was the one "helping" me). There was no flexibility or concern for the faulty animal they sold me and refused to help me in any way, shape, or form. DO NOT BUY ANIMALS FROM THIS STORE! Petsmart is worth the drive down the street and I have never had ANY problems with the health and well being of my other lizards. I am extremely disappointed in their lack of concern for their customers when they "pride" themselves on customer satisfaction. I will NEVER return and will tell this tragic fatality to every person I know. read more

I'm a hedgehog mommy and a pitbull/border collie auntie. I use to go to petsmart at the landing, petsmart is a lot more clean looking compare to Petco but like they say don't judge a book by its cover. I switch pet stores for a couple of reason. 1.) employee's at petsmart don't really know anything about other pets other than cats and dogs. 2.) Petsmart is more expensive compare to Petco 3) Petsmart has a smaller selection. When I first went into petco I was surprised, they had this massive selection for food, talking to employees were more easier, more nicer, more importantly knew what they were talking about. I've been helping my older brother with his new pit puppie, he chose petsmart over petco but soon switched when I told him that petco had puppy class, petsmart does not and told him he had to wait a year before taking to class. The only bad thing I would say about this petco is they did a choppy job at clipping the puppies nail, after that groom he gave me this fat scar on my arm when jumping to hug me.
