This Petco is by far the worst for grooming. My dog has gone here since he was a tiny pup. Well due to Dec 2022 snow storms this Petco cancelled my dogs grooming appointment because his groomer Shelby couldn't make it in. Fine. But thanks for canceling a little over an hour beforehand same day. Thanks for also not getting my dog rebooked on next available. Instead he was just skipped and shit out of luck. So fast forward to 3/31/23. I call again to see about getting my dog groomed. Apparently Shelby doesn't want to groom my dog because I was annoyed at how they handled his cancelation in December. The salon manager apparently can't get my dog for WEEKS. Lol really WEEKS?! Just say you don't want to groom my dog then. The amount of horrible customer service is terrible. Reason why I went here was because it's close to home and my dog actually really likes Shelby. But to blow off your loyal customers and say too bad so sad is utterly disrespectful. I hope no one goes here moving forward and maybe this place will get better at customer service, communication, and accountability. read more

just ridiculous. My dog came in for a bath a 10 days ago they did not clip her nails. I had a friend pick up my dog as soon as I got back into town I called them and let them know they did not cut her nails. Made an appointment a few days later to bring in my dog. They're trying to charge me $18 for a nail cut that should've been included with her dog bath I took my dog walked out of the store. There's plenty of other places to take your dog and Petco is already having problems and is going out of business and this certainly doesn't help their situation. Why would you not take two minutes clip the dogs nails that obviously were not clipped and let the customer go home Happy instead you start a big fight read more

This location is terrrrrrrrible. First off, the customer service by the staff working there is nonexistent. It is like these people cannot talk to humans at all, just like animals. I was buying a $200 crate and cashier was breaking down boxes (doing non-customer tasks) and said "I will be right with you" as he continued breaking down boxes while I stood at his register for like 5 minutes. Finally I said, I am not going to do business here and left. The other employee on the floor was in a bad mood too. So I went to the Petsmart at the Landing and got the same crate for no joke HALF the price. So that brings me to point #2...the prices here are God-awful!! Take my word for it...don't buy from here unless it's just a small toy or something. You can get wayyyyyyyyy better prices online or at PetSmart a couple miles down the hill. Point 3 is the selection. It is a small location compared to most pet stores so the choices are slim. I will never shop here again. read more

He told me that he just takes anything comes to the net, he gives me. When I asked for talking with manager, he said that he is a store manager. First customer service was awesome. The staff there is friendly and doesn't make you feel bad when your pet has an accident or doesn't look the best. Secondly Mackenzie truly listens to my concerns each time and honors my requests with how I want my pup to look. She doesn't take the easy route to just shave off like all other groomers. The last time I went the other lady was like we can't do it you are going to have to take her to the vet and Mackenzie stepped in and was like no worries I can do it. read more

Took my dogs in for grooming. The first two dogs went in fine even tho they had a dog waiting in the doorway for pick up which seemed to upset the dogs since they don't know each other. The third dog has a stomach Abrasion which is healing , I let the groomer know. When she went to look the dog did not like the way the groomer was check her and barked at her. My girlfriend told her that she did not like how she handled the dog . After a few words were exchanged the groomer pulls the other two dogs out of the back room and tells us to leave. I don't see why I had to take the other dogs with me when one dog has a problem, the other dogs were fine . Do now your out of about 200 dollars. Just groom the two dogs that are already in the back. read more

We are a rescue and we refer clients to Petco in our Southern California area because of the service they provide but at this location it's way below standard in their processes. We're trying to get a new adopted dog groomed as he came in from the Southern California area so that he could go to the adopters home fresh but we could not get a return call for 3 days from this Renton Washington location I would never recommend the grooming services at this location to anybody. read more

Not my favorite Petco store, but I would follow Trainer Ellen anywhere! 3 stars for the store, 5 stars for Ellen. This store is much smaller than most Petco locations, so it feels cramped. They have a mobile vet clinic sometimes, and they setup in the aisles, which makes it even more cramped. Dog Trainer Ellen is THE BEST! My dog, Patches, and I have worked with her on and off for three years, and can't thank her enough. Her style is consistent and effective. She uses positive reinforcement methods, but also teaches healthy boundaries. We tried a private trainer elsewhere for a bit and hated every second of it, so we went back to Ellen to get my dog back on track. Thank you, Ellen! read more

This Petco is small but still has some fish, birds, reptiles, guinea pigs for purchase and their supplies. Grooming available. Don't expect anything like dog igloos or a dog pool which is what I was wanting to buy. They don't have the sq footage. Nice people were working here. Store was really clean and organized well. Not the best place but it's convenient for us. There is a groomer named Angie that likes to first check if the dog's fur is matted. Not only will she charge you extra for each matted area but she has rejected our dog and recommended a vet. He had only few spots of matted fur (chin and behind the ears). This is my first and last visit to this stores grooming salon. When I arrived I was not greeted by the young women sitting behind the desk. I asked her name to find out she was Mary the groomer for my Bichon puppy. Not very friendly. I told her what I wanted face, fanny and a trim. When I came back to pick up my dog I stood for a couple of minutes looking through the window waiting for help. Granted Mary was grooming another dog but she looked and didn't acknowledge me. Another young lady stopped her grooming and came out to help me. Unfortunately you have to pay/tip before you see your pet. My dog looked like only around his eyes were trimmed. His eyes were not clean, uneven body trim ( if she even did it in the first place) and no fanny trim. Very disappointed and a waste of $$ read more

I went there physically in the store with my small chihuahua, and it turned out they had training class with LARGE Great Danes, German Shepard ect. My little dog would be like an appetizer for them. Sure enough they all started barking and snarling as he went by. I asked the woman at the counter who was ringing me up when the normal training classes were ( like Saturdays at 11:00 or whatever ) so I could avoid Petco when they are on in the future. She snootily told me she had no idea. Then some other employees came up and petted my dog. I asked them the same thing. Again, a huge attitude, and they informed me they didn't know when training class started, and didn't notice it. Nobody can look on a calendar? Nobody can ask anybody? Bottom line AVOID this Petco if you have a small dog. It's right near my house, but I'll find another one. Horrible customer service, and frightening for my small dog. read more

First time coming back after a couple of years and this was the first time my dog was turned away from being on prescribed anxiety medication by her veterinarian. She's been on this for years and never had an issue. I actually would not feel comfortable sending her to the groomers without this medication because of how horrible and traumatic her experience would be - in fact, it has made other groomers experience with her much easier. If your dog is fine with grooming services then this may be the place for you. However, if your dog is easily anxious from places like this then it's better to just take them to Poodies downtown Renton - at least they're experienced and comfortable enough to understand your dogs needs. When scheduling an appointment online or even over the phone, asking the pet owners if they're on any prescribe medications would be efficient to avoid wasting anyone's time. read more

This review is in regards to their Grand Opening: I got their announcement in the mail that they would be having their grand opening this weekend so I signed up for their rewards program and headed over for their ribbon cutting ceremony! They were right on time, handing out rewards program sign-ups to those who hadn't done it yet, selected a child to help cut the ribbon (so cute) and had their mascot out as well! The first 100 rewards members who walked through the door received a $10 gift card (yay!) and started shopping! I bought some shampoo for my new Papillon that I'm hoping will make her coat even whiter! The store seems slightly smaller than some of the other PetCo locations, but they definitely had a wide variety typical of any PetCo. Leashes, toys, Halloween costumes, pet food, bowls, aquarium supplies and more! They had a cat adoption area (with no kitties yet) but had a lot of fish, red eared slider turtles, ferrets, guinea pigs, mice, and more ready to find a home. Service was quick and friendly and the energy was great! Even the dogs in attendance seemed to feel the excitement of the store opening! It was a fun experience and I will visit again soon! read more

Went in to get my dog vaccinated first time, was very crowded and store is small, but to top it off lost my keys and was looking for them didnt get any offer to help look so I asked manager if he could call uber for me because my phone was locked in my car, he responded he didn't have the app. A customer heard him and volunteered to give me and my dog a ride home to get 2nd set thank god for nice people! I came into this location today for some necessities and visited the aquatics. To my absolute dismay, I saw a sun catfish in the goldfish display, hardly moving at all and looking very sickly. I was so shocked at how irresponsible this was. Sun catfish are meant to be tropical fish, and keeping them in goldfish tanks which are usually kept in mid 60's fahrenheit, can be very threatening to their immune system and health. I made a Yelp account just for this because I was appalled and this ignorant and crude care from a pet store. How can you say you cater to animals needs and look after them when you don't even care to take notice of their basic needs? I left and will not be returning to this location ever again. I'd much rather take the extra time to go to another pet store than this location. Unbelievable. Edited to add: This was obviously a surrendered pet. Which makes me incredibly sad to think about. If they didn't want to go through the trouble of bagging him up, driving to the pet store, and surrendering him, they would have just euthanized or abandoned him like many irresponsible pet owners do. Instead, they gave it to a pet store trusting they would take care of it until it got adopted out because it was a beloved pet. I have used the Renton store for a number of years with my previous dog and started taking my new dog there but had a objection to part of their billing that being the material fee was told that was for the groomers to buy their supplies and my response was you can't make an employee pay for their own supplies. I did pay the bill and left a cash tip as I always have I feel that it is better for the groomers to have a choice as to where they want to spend their money I never liked the idea of them having to use it at a Petco. The next time I tried to book a grooming I was told I am no longer welcome there. And just for the record I didn't yell, scream or raise a big fuss they have never been a great place to do business the groomers were mostly friendly but some of the cashiers left a bit to be desired. read more

I have gotten nothing but very pleasant customer service from The Petco on 4th. They have been very accommodating to my needs and patient with my list of questions. I have interacted more with this staff than at PetSmart at the landing. As much as the PetSmart is more convenient this PetCo is attentive. Do NOT let Jessica (the manager of Grooming) anywhere near your cats! If I were rating this store by the usual cashier-guys, I'd give them a 5 - they're awesome. I would give their inventory a 3 and I'd give their dog grooming a 5 - there is one lady there who was great with grooming my dog. HOWEVER, we took one of our cats for grooming today and Jessica did a godawful job. Besides an uneven cut and a bald spot on her chest, she (brace yourself, and sorry in advance) cut 3 of my cat's nipples. To make it worse she lied and said my cat wasn't bleeding. Now, my poor kitty has to wear a cone of shame and we have to put ointment on the wounds. Luckily, my husband was able to get them to reimburse him for the $60 vet bill and the $80 visit. SO glad to have a Petco in the area now - now I can finally stop going to Petsmart (only went there for convenience). Went in for the grand opening the other week and was welcomed by everyone with the nicest customer service. Smaller store, but packs a lot in. They didn't have the exact dog food I wanted, but was able to find a very similar product, no big deal. Lots of toys, treats, food... the fish section looks pretty big too. Took my 4 year old Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix in for grooming today. Was able to get a same day appointment. Only took about 2 hours to get her done. Reasonably priced, cost me $45 for a full groom, but I have a tiny dog so prices could differ. The girl who did the grooming was very nice, very kind to my dog. They even put a little bow on her ear, she hated it, but I thought it was adorable! She looks great. I have been going to the Petco in Covington and Tukwila for years, and have never had a grooming complaint. read more

The biggest plus about this store for me is it's location. I can walk there in less than 5 minutes from my apartment. The store has a nice selection of treats and toys. We have a bearded dragon and a miniature schnauzer and we have shopped at this Petco for both of them. I think the cricket selection at Petsmart in the Landing us better (and cheaper if I'm remembering correctly) but they have a nice worm selection. We took our dog to Petsmart in the Landing to get groomed and loved how she looked when we picked her up. I didn't have time to take her to Petsmart this time but she was in desperate need of a grooming. I'm very picky with her grooming so I was a little hesitant to try Petco, but I needed her groomed. I called Petco and they got her in the next day. They were friendly and very nice to my dog. They were running a special and offered a free upgrade which included a holiday fragrance spritz. I decided to try the pumpkin spice scent. I was pleased with almost every part of her grooming except they trimmed the beard too short for my taste. I like to keep it longer. It's really not a big deal to me, I'll just be sure to mention it next time we take her. The price was comparable to Petsmart and the service was great. HORRIBLE. Waited for weeks for an appointment for my dog, and once we got there my dog was deemed as "aggressive" and that she was about to bite the groomer when she didn't do anything but just bark. The groomer then started saying how Petco has a strict policy and gave me a list of other dog groomers that can restrain aggressive dogs. Huh? Are you serious? My dog has gone to Petsmart before and have been absolutely perfect, no muzzle needed. It was mistake going here. read more

Catfood and cat litter grab shop. Always a good experience except when they don't have the specific litter I need in stock. Some of the stores started doing online orders so hopefully they will start stocking better to meet the new demand. Its clean and they carry a wide variety and grades of foods etc. read more
