i have been trying to buy a Seresto flea collar for my dog with now avail. i ordered it, went to the store not knowing my order was canceled. i was greeted by Dale, a so-called manager. he was the most arrogant and rude customer service person i have met in a while. he's making statements that my card may not have the money to make a purchase. his tone was nasty rude and arrogant to be a manager for any store. after speaking to an online rep, seems there is glitch in the ordering system, they claim. if you run into Dale, don't have him help you. he will give you his personal views instead being a professional about what you need. read more

Horrible experience at Petco last night. Long time customer, have had trouble getting the services that I pay for, the store is filthy, and the staff is absolutely horrible at problem resolution. We have been having issues for some time, but we're too lazy to find someone new. Interesting now that we are looking for a new groomer all pet groomers in our area have 4-5 stars and Petco gets tops 3. I rarely give a bad review, usually keep that to myself. But I would never, ever step foot in this store again. A call to corporate made me feel better, but I would nicer bring my dog back. I'm only giving one star because I can't book 0. Stephanie, the grooming manager, probably the worst out of all horrible staff has an attitude each time we are there and treated us so disrespectfully, was just horrible. Jason who we used to like, was awful to us. After we left the store Jason called us 10 times, harassing us before we reached out to corporate. The manager Christian was so inept, keot saying he couldn't help us and he was new and couldn't figure out the ap. Young, unprofessional, awful staff all around. Phones were. It working...again. And as we were leaving another customers dog spilled a bottle of cleaning solution. Dogs were drinking it, so I told him to take his dog away and I would be happy to clean it up. Brought my 17 week old pup for a nail trimming appointment. Although he has received at home trimming, it was his first time at a groomers. There was no attempt to accommodate the newbie, they were very heartless and cold in their treatment of the pup. No attempt was made to warm him up to the experience. If you have a young dog- I do NOT recommend you bring him here. Find somewhere else where they care more about a dogs wellbeing. I will very likely never try Petco again for grooming after this disaster. read more

I just finally found out why our dogs stay four hours at petco grooming because even though you have an appointment you don't, only everyone willing to call in and pay the mafia toll cost of 15.00 extra gets their actual appointment and done in 1.5 hours so dogs get put in front of yours. I have to wonder if it is actually legal to demand the extra 15.00 for a real appointment when it says appointment time online and cost???? Notice, its verbally and not online as s choice to pay the extra cost for a real appointment???? so who's actually even getting the extra money? is this extra cost going in the pocket of the groomers or corporate? It should be required to be on their online site "this is not an appointment" and you must pay extra money if you want an actual appointment? read more

This is the best Petco I have seen so far. To start off they have ferrets! I was soooo excited to see them. They had about 4 very cuteeee ones for $199.99. On top of that this petco has most of the food brands , pet accessories and health products. There's plenty of staff to help and assist. Rarely any lines. I even stop by the clearance And they had the "blue" brand on sale from $15 to $7 a steal!!! I would definitely come back I wish the ones in the city were as cool as this one. The store is huge! They have a great selection of toys, costumes and grooming accessories. Being that store is pretty spacious they get to fit more merchandise . They also have pet grooming , self wash and dog training which is pretty cool. read more

I waited a week to make sure that I wouldn't leave a review solely on emotion. I dropped my maltipoo off to get groomed by Stephanie, like I've had for the last few years, about a week ago and was shocked by her demeanor upon picking him up. A few minutes prior to arriving at the store, I received a text message saying that he was doing great and that he would be ready in 25 minutes. Before entering the grooming salon, I saw Stephanie mumbling something to another worker and approached me saying that she had bad news and that she would no longer be cutting my 6 pound maltipoo. Stated that he was now biting and going after their tools, which was a first for me to hear as she would always note that he was a good boy. She suggested we take him to a grooming salon associated with a vet so that he can be sedated for his grooming service. I was shocked to hear all of this at the moment, as it did catch me by surprise. Her demeanor was completely different from the Stephanie we dealt with for years. So was my dogs behavior for the following days!! He laid in his bed for longer periods and would walk around the house with his ears and tails tucked, which he never did! It's not until a week later, that he is getting around to behaving a bit more like himself. Unfortunately, I am not sure as to what happened during his grooming appointment, but I can imagine he was NOT treated well!! Aside from the change in his attitude, his haircut is atrocious! He is completely chopped up! Completely uneven and looks horrible! This leads me to think that she was not the groomer that day. She has NEVER styled him like that. I have so many questions and concerns that will go unanswered, therefore... the only thing I can do is leave a review in hopes to reach potential customers and share my experience. I took my dog for her yearly grooming before the ticks start showing up. She is an 11 years old, pomeranian with a history of abuse. She gets very scared at the groomer, but would never bite, she just needs extra love. Stephanie, the grooming department manager (i believe) was more then loving. My dog came back happy from her haircut for the first time ever. And her haircut was so cute and perfect. I live an hour away, but will be returning in the future. This lady was great, and the cashier was nice too. In a world that is falling apart it was a nice break to have kind, helpful people. It's all about energy with dogs and this woman put my dog at ease and really did a great job on the cut and everything else. thank you so much! read more

This review is about the service at petco. Not only is it so so hard to get any help in this store but most of the employees are miserable and you can see it on their faces. One woman who attempted to help me was named Ally. She seems completely disinterested In doing her job. Total lack of respect for her workplace and seemed to be bothered by everything. TERRIBLE. Not how I want to be treated when I go into a store to spend money. I love animals but like this woman most of the staff seem to be checked out and not helpful...Shout out to the fish department tho I am always happy with the woman who seems to run that department. Never again. NEVER EVER. Our first expierience with our older dog was so so at best. It's convenient for us and less expensive than some others so we took our seven month old there for a good cut. Bad idea. The staff was young and apparently not very expierienced. Most of them were sitting around talking to each other and hen we walked it we felt as if we interrupted a private conversation and were not welcomed. When I picked her up she was completely uneven and her ears were not cleaned. My husband and I jokingly called her platypus for about a month because she looked so funny. We trimmed her up to look decent at home but we will never be back. read more

I had my golden retriever Bob groomed there a few months ago. I meant to write this the next day but I forget and just remembered now. The groomer Stephanie was amazing. She made Bob look and smell great. Bob is a very hyper dog and Stephanie handled him perfectly. I could tell he had a great time and she treated him well because he was so happy when he came out and with other places it's not like that. She also educated me on how to take care of his coat at home and showed me the correct tools to use. Stephanie is a very friendly, professional groomer. We can't wait to go back to her. Let me start by saying that I am all for animal rights, that is not what this is about. My 10 year old son wanted a goldfish. We grabbed and small tank and waited for someone to help us. Jason showed up, after needing to be called, took a look at the tank my 10 yo was holding, and said on the most condescending voice, 'I am not selling you a goldfish for that tank...'. I asked him if he could refuse to sell me a goldfish and he said 'I can do whatever I want, I will not sell you a goldfish for that tank', then went on to liken it, as he pointed to my 12 year old, 'it'd be like locking him in the bathroom'. Went back and forth a couple times and he offered to help us get a Betta. My 10 year old, no upset, said 'I'll take a betta'. When I replied we're not buying it in this store Jason replies, 'good that works for me' and then ran upstairs to 'tell his boss' because he knew he came off as a jackass. Again, if he was educational or helpful I would t have had a problem, but I don't need to be lectured by a condescending, obnoxious man on a soap box. What's interesting is there were like 20 goldfish jammed in the tank, is that humane? What's about the 100s of goldfish crammed in the tanks sold off as feeders? I think Jason need some retraining. I came here with my girl, and left with two ladies. If I could, I would repeat this process over and over again! My new lady is everything my old lady (sorry boo) is not: loves kissing endlessly regardless if we're in public or not - can eat her weight in delicious treats and still beg for more - will stop yapping on command and much, much MUCH furrier. Did I mention my new lady is a GORGEOUS 8 month old West Highland Terrier I got during an adoption event here? No? What were you thinking? You dirty dog! Thank you to Pawsitively Furrever rescue for showing me to the new love of my life (move over Manilla!) After the paperwork and payment of adoption fee, we roamed the store and got everything the new lady in our lives needed - bed, leash, collar, food, treats, toys galore, etc. The staff was smiling and helpful, and the selection was vast! I visited this Petco freaking out because I thought my dog had fleas. I went and grabbed some flea and tick room spray and shampoo for my dog. The cashier, Jillian, saw this and asked if my dog had fleas. I showed her a picture of what the bugs on my dog looked like and she directed me to better products without me even having to ask. Petco is an all purpose store that provides most of your pet supply needs in addition to training, grooming and vaccinations. The Ramsey store recently renovated so there is a better selection and layout. I love the fact that I can bring my pup to the store. He loves it. read more

Every time, without fail, employee Bev has refused to honor the petco price match policy because "that's not what corporate said in training". I pull up the price for a box of 6 filters and ask her to price match petco.com. She tells me the discount price I see cannot be correct because it is "too cheap". "It must be price for each individual filter in the box" she says. With 6 filters per box, that would be more expensive than the retail price before the discount!! Even though the price listed on petco.com clearly says a box of 6 filters. Not the first time I've had issues with her so i checked everything before getting in line, in hopes of a smooth transaction. The brand, item description, SKU # all matches. But still, she tells me I'm wrong and that she can't "give" me this discount because its against corporate policy.. You're not "giving" me anything or doing me any favors.. you are honoring the policy and representing the company you work for. I'm not trying to rip you off, your own website says this price and you know the policy. The only thing stopping you is your ego. I'm a lone shopper, so I don't bother the employees unless I really need help, but every interaction with this particular employee has been rude and comfrontational. She's always on the registers so I cannot avoid her.. Will not return to this location. There's another one a few miles down the road literally on the same street, go there. read more

The associates are nice but the store always seems like it hasn't been cleaned in a while. I have to complain about the frozen rodent section especially, because their stock has been sub par for quite some time. Every time I would go to get food for my snake, they never had the right size rodent, let alone really any stock to begin with. And the reptile expert (or whatever they call themselves) clearly had no idea what he was talking about because he gave me either faulty advice or a bad rat which in turn killed my snake. I made an appointment over the phone for 4:30 and when I arrived I was told there was a "minor miscommunication" that my appointment was 12:30, five hours difference. There was no mistake on my part because I confirmed several times to the ass. manager on the phone. They wanted to go home early so they have had to make up a time. I wish I could give less for my disheartened experience that left me walking away hurt and offended ..I went into Petco to enquirer about adding an edition to our family on 6/12 .. I was really interested in the green handfed Conure , the gentleman who helped me at first was great but he didn't have the knowledge to help me so he went to get a girl named Christina she seemed agitated I came to the store when it was 10min to closing and told me the bird was to young to adopt and had to be of a certain weight , then she proceeded to hurry me out of the store saying they were closing . Fast forward less then 24 hours from that point did I come back with my son and boyfriend to see this bird only to find out someone was purchasing the bird that day .. 6/13 i was told literally less the 24 hours ago that I could not buy .. I completely believe this lady was holding the bird for a friend to buy or someone she knew , secondly when I went to ask why I wasn't even told when the bird was going to be ready for purchase just told to leave ... a women with stringy blonde hair and a disheveled appearance who claimed to be in charge was more then rude after my findings she made it clear she couldn't sell me the said bird 4x even though I wasn't asking about buying the bird anymore , I was asking why I wasn't let known that I could come the next morning to make a purchase or why I received such poor service . Said woman in the fish department proceeded to be uptight about the situation and just repeated like a robot I couldn't buy that bird but she can sell me a different bird .. I'm sorry but this whole experience put me off so badly I left feeling BAD like actually sad disgruntled and lied to. I hate Petco I'll never return and I'll never purchase anything from a big box retail store if I don't have too the people who work in them make $10 hour and have no respect or concern for the customer which you can truly feel in this store a cold negative vibe from mostly all employees but the nice gentlemen who helped me on 6/12 evening ... all in all I'm going anywhere but here and I really recommend you do the same so a better store can take there place in interstate read more

SARA at the RAMSEY NJ location.... AMAZING!!! We have a rescue dog who is very nervous... Sara got down on the ground and SAT with our dog (Bella) and played with her and talked to her to make her comfortable. Bella loved it!!! Sara told us she would give Bella the "puppy" treatment due to her nerves and then she explained her priorities in grooming Bella and that she would stop at any point if Bella got too nervous or upset. She explained exactly what the grooming process would entail and really knew her stuff!! Bella has very very long hair and we were afraid we would have to shave her to provide body regulation in the warm weather but SARA explained that that wasn't necessary, that it was really her undercoat that was causing overheating and then she brushed and trimmed her beautifully. Absolutely will be bringing Bella back to SARA and will highly recommend her services to other dog owners!! We were really lucky and just happen to get SARA when we made our appointment, but will always request her in the future. read more
