Just had my dog groomed. I literally cried when I saw her. Brittney said she needed shaving because she was matted underneath her harness, but I never thought to the extent she was shaved. I was charged for de-matting. What exactly was done? Why shave her? I rescued her from a breeder and she was shaved but NOT like she is now. I cried. I've had her groomed before & decided to try Petco because it's closer to me and because it was recommended to me. She was a fluffy cute dog and now she's, not even sure how to describe her Never again!!!! I saw Brittney on my out of the store and I told her how unhappy I was. Her response was "I told you I had to shave her". I think she went overboard. It really is hard to put into words how upset and disappointed I am with the whole experience. read more

Made an appointment for a wash and cut for my mini Aussie. The groomer looked at him and said, "I don't know how to cut that dog." I said, "It's just a simple silhouette cut." He said, "I can't do that." So we left. What a colossal waste of time. Very disappointed. read more

Every time I have went to this location it's because it's closest to my house and I needed something quick. Staff never asks to help even if a middle aged woman is carry two huge bags of dog food. "Thanks I'll get it" Anyways decided to place a Same Day Delivery yesterday and in 24 hours it's still not here. I will NEVER shop at Petco again regardless of the convenience to location. I had my 2 pups groomed on 2/23/2024. I dropped them off for their 9am appointment, normally in 3 hours or less my pups are done (7.5lbs & 9lbs). This time took 4.5 hrs for a normal grooming. Petco had a group of interns helping. But they promised that a professional would over seeing everything. I paid 137.00. Now that I have time to look at them, one my pups came home with a sore on his romp which they tried to pass off a previous hot spot and both pups nails are so short that the blood veins are right at tip. I trusted Petco to protect my pups and in my opinion they did not. Very disappointed. read more

This isn't my regular Petco but I still had a good experience. This store is located at the northeast corner of US19 and Curlew Rd. in Palm Harbor. It's in the same strip center/ complex that a Sonny's and Publix are located. The store was large, tidy and didn't suffer from the aroma that is so prevalent in some other pet stores. We were in for just a second to pick up some dry cat food. My only complaint is that the Hill's Science Diet dry cat food is located on two separate aisles. These days, Hill's has quite a few types of food to address a panoply of cat maladies. So, it's easy to have your eyes gloss over when you're trying to find just plain ol' cat food. Mission accomplished! Checkout was effortless. The employees were helpful and courteous. If I'm up in Palm Harbor, I will definitely stop by again. I can recommend this location. read more

Unreliable, irresponsible grooming department. I have showed up TWO TIMES IN A ROW with a scheduled appointment just to be turned away/rescheduled. The discount was cool the first time but at this point it's such an inconvenience that's it's not worth coming back. They even called me earlier in the day to tell me to bring my pet in early, which I did and they still turned me away when I showed up. No consideration to customers time. There are too many groomers in the area to be dealing with this type of irresponsible scheduling. I would never visit this store again let alone petco, for anything. Such a terrible experience. This was all after waiting 12min at the counter to be acknowledged. read more

Being handicap hard to wait in a line to drop off dogs I waited for 15 mins or until I could no longer stand the pain and left.

If I could give 0 stars I definitely would, I paid for training classes for my puppy. I bought the biggest pkg 300$+ we only received puppy 1 training there was only one other puppy in the class the trainer payed all of her attention to that puppy(Shannon is her name)! She made it clear she didn't like little dogs and didn't like toy yorkie mine is only 2 pound she actually said to me it was a waste of time to train her any further I finished puppy one I never got a call when the next level started, I called several time even stopped in was told it available I'm sure it's because she did y like my puppy and I worked with her daily she did everything the other dog didn't do anything! At this point I called corporate and asked for a full refund was told they don't handle that I needed to go through the store where I purchased so I did just that I provided them with copies multiple times to prove I paid it. I have never gotten a call or refund I stop in get told every time the person that handles this is off! I told them I didn't expect a full refund after all we did the puppy one class. I didn't receive a call or refund. I will never do business with petco again read more

Stopped in here so my boyfriend could get a new tank while they had their $1 per gallon sale. He just needed a small 10 gallon to make into a quarantine tank, so this was a great option. He's really into salt water aquariums & this section had next to nothing for salt water supplies, but we did get the tank we came for. While we were there, we also checked out the betas since he does have a small freshwater tank. Many of them were unfortunately dead already in their little containers, and several containers had lose lids so it was just waiting for an accident to happen. We tried to close as many as we saw, and that's how we discovered so many of the dead ones. It seemed like a neglected part of the store for sure. Then as we were checking out with the tank, we could see into the grooming area where a pug was getting it's nails trimmed. The pug was obviously unhappy, yipping and trying to get away from the groomer, and the groomer seemed to have no one to assist her so it was just very upsetting to hear and see between the stressed dog & the frustrated worker. read more

I am new to the area and I brought my dog to Petco because the location by my old residence was fantastic! This location however did a very poor job, I would have given a zero if possible. She was still wet, patches of fur were completely missed and one of her paws was not even buffed, "trimming the nails". I will never go back, complete waste of money. read more

After coming here for seven years, I cannot believe how horribly I was treated. I dropped off both of my dogs to be groomed. Twenty minutes later, I get a call from a groomer and find out that they gave my dog to a different groomer than the one I book with all the time. This girl explains that she sees some "issue" with my dogs nail and that I have to come get my dog immediately, because it is a risk to groom her and have her there. My dog just had an annual physical and I had no idea what they were taking about. I had to then drive back and get my dog, and they told me they could fit her in the next day to be groomed at 2:30pm if I was able to get my veterinarian to confirm there was nothing wrong. I went and spent $180 on an emergency visit, because they were claiming the nail was loose and if it tore she could in essence bleed out before they could get her help. I went to the vet and he examined every single nail extremely carefully and said nothing was wrong at all. The vet tried calling Petco grooming seven times to discuss with them and they never answered. I then came FIVE hours later to pick up my other dog they did groom. After telling them there was nothing wrong and they can confirm with the vet, showing them photos of the nail exam, they said they would need it in writing, but it didn't matter because of the underlying health issues and the "issues we all had with each other today" I wasn't allowed to bring her in to be groomed tomorrow anyway. So not only did i have to drive six ways to Petco, but I had to cancel plans and go to the vet and spend $180 just to make sure she could get groomed the next day, but then they cancelled her appointment altogether and made me do all of that for absolutely nothing. I am so sick knowing that for seven years I've been going there six times a year, paying $60 a visit, and tipping 30% every time and then I was treated so horribly. I would NOT recommend taking any pet to this grooming salon. This was the worst customer service debacle I've ever seen. Petco you owe me $180 for my vet bill! read more

Puppy training here was a huge help! My trainer Victoria knee the answer to every question i had and if she didnt always got back to me with an answer. I noticed a huge difference with my little Shiba Inu Who was completely stubborn and now listens when i need him to. Definitely going back for higher tier classes! He told my wife she didnt have to mix the food before when introducing and My poor dog is panting more, licking all over and cant control her poop like before. not once did this guy consider my health of my pup. I am so disgusted. I called and management doesnt even really care. Very convenient location for me. I have never had an issue and I'm here a lot due to needs for multiple animals. Staff is knowledgable and friendly. Prices are ok. We have a pet perks card so we frequently get coupons which is great. They also take competitors coupons. They could use a bigger selection of reptile products, as I have to go to a specialty reptile store for food and items we needed when we first got our gecko. I also get my dog food at a speciality store due to a special diet. Other then that, if we just need something for our dogs they usually have it! read more

I did however have a very irritating experience when calling about a particular cat treat who I was met with a very nasty and rude representative. I had purchased a photo for my dog and he turned out scared in the photo, so I went and bought something from the store to retake the photo. I was just making conversation with the guy at the register I think his name was Brian he was bald and I had told him I'm just going to retake the picture because he it didn't turn out good. He goes and tells me no, that I have to purchase another picture....OBVIOUSLY he's not a very pleasant person or helpful, so I asked somebody else that is more courteous and customer driven and they said of course I could. Long story short, I went to retake it and the bald guy shuts down his register, heads straight to where we were taking the picture and in front of everyone and in front of my face tells the lady sending me the picture not to send it to me because I didn't pay for the retake(when she knew I I shouldn't have to repay for another picture)...SO UNPROFESSIONAL. I can't vouch for the grooming service, but their customer service is awful! I've been here on numerous occasions because I realize people have bad days. Every time I've been there, I've had to seek someone out for help after patiently waiting and clearing my throat a million times. The fish department is the worst! It takes forever to find someone to get you fish. The racks are covered in cobwebs too. It's so bad that my husband asked if they lost some pet spiders in the bulding and pointed out the webs. The associate (who we had to have hunted down by the cashier) just laughed and seemed completely unabashed. Save your time and go to petsmart or pet supermarket. read more
