Some amazing people work here, but I could not live without Kennedy in the grooming department. My Golden retriever , Colt McCoy, is 4 years old and she has been his groomer since he was a puppy. Not only is she terrific with him and treats him as her own, her art of grooming -he is so beautifully groomed that we get compliments on in him- especially his feet that she does and they are perfect! He goes once a week and its worth it! What I love is that he can smell and track her down in the store. If you get nothing from this review, remember that Kennedy is the BEST!! read more

Be careful who you book with, DO NOT BOOK WITH BRIAN. Or at least don't book with him near lunch. Scheduled a grooming appointment 1 month in advance, took leave from work, came in and had Brian tell me my appointment was canceled. He told me that he couldn't honor my appointment and that he already booked 2 other dogs in my slot that were coming in to be groomed in 15 minutes and could not take mine. I arrived on time and even recieved a confirmation text for my appointment a little over an hour before I arrived. It appeared Brian was having his lunch and decided to cancel my appointment, he was still chewing food when he walked in. I waited 40 extra min to see if any dogs were actually coming in to be groomed, why not, I was already on leave and decided to hang out with my dog in tge car for a bit. We'll, unsurprisingly, no dogs came. My assumptions were correct, Brian lied straight to my face and aparently wanted lunch. Pretty unprofessional. I was able to make a quick same day appointment for a bath and haircut for my 3-year-old poodle mix. The ladies in the grooming department were so kind and loving to him, and listened when I told them all the things he does or doesn't like. Riley did an amazing job with his cut and he was even ready before the quoted time. My favorite part was that while he was excited to see me when I came to get him, I could tell he didn't want to say bye to Riley. It's hard for me to leave him but knowing that he was so well cared for that he wanted to stay and hang out makes me soo happy. And the lady at the cash register was really nice and patient helping me apply all my rewards coupons. Truly a great group of people they have there! read more

Wish I could give this place less than one star! We brought our dog in for a shampoo and haircut, which we have done numerous times. Usual price is around $80...this time it was $175! We brought to the cashiers attention something must be wrong and she insisted that no, that's the correct price. Finally convinced her to check and holy hell, guess what???, yep...she was wrong. I understand mistakes happen, but the fact we had to almost argue with the cashier to remove a $100 over-charge is ridiculous. Worst part is they completely shaved our dog, ignored the grooming info we gave them, and had the audacity to ask for a tip. Lol read more

Went to Petco for grooming services as a last resort because every else was booked. Never had my dog done there before as I never cared for the store. Was turned away when I got there because I made the mistake of answering their question of" does your dog have collapsing trachia?" With a yes. No one has ever asked this before. My dog is 12 years old and never had an issue with this and grooming before. I groom her every 4-5 months. They weren't rude about it but adamant that they could not groom her. This sealed the deal of me never shopping there or getting their service. Boo on Petco. read more

This review is long overdue. In January of 2021 I took my small dog in for a grooming appointment. I had never been in this Petco location for anything, but my dog had occasionally been groomed at other Petco locations without incident. We arrived at the scheduled appt time, and they had to track down the groomer. When he finally arrived at the grooming department, he starts asking questions about my dog's age (she's older but is a rescue, so I'm unsure exactly how old she is). Then he says that Petco has a policy of not grooming dogs over 13. I'm pretty sure this is made-up bullshit. No other groomer (Petcos included) has ever even asked what her age is. And then he says "can she stand?" (I was holding her). And I said "of course she can stand". And then he made me put her on the floor to f*cking prove it! The poor thing is shaking because she hates places like this and we just want to get it over with. She stands, she walks, just like a real dog! What do you know? And then I mention that she has collapsing trachea and that they'll need to be careful. Then this heavy-set groomer (I believe his name was Brian) says "absolutely not. She can't be seen here. She needs to go to a vet. I asked if they could at least trim her nails. He said "absolutely not". And then proceeded to blacklist my dog from ever having any grooming service done at any other Petco again. This lazy-ass groomer just seemed to not want to have to work and to be able to just sit around while being on the clock. Well F you, Brian. My dog is still doing great and other groomers happily groom her without incident. Petco has completely lost all of my business for the rest of my life. read more

Specifically in regards to their grooming department. Dropped my small dog off for a 2pm appointment. Asked for a short trim and his head styled as he is a poodle mix. Three hours later, no phone call, so I head back in because my cellphone service isn't that great. Arrive there and he's just coming out of the bath. The groomer also COMPLETELY SHAVED MY DOG. He literally has bald spots on his face where they dug in too far with the clippers. He was also there until 7pm. FIVE HOURS after the scheduled appointment we had. Great service in the rest of the store, but stay away from their grooming services. read more

I had previously taken my pup to this Petco for grooming and left a happy customer. Unfortunately i will no longer take him here. I had an appt for my pup and when I brought him in, they told me it would take 4 extra hours longer than expected due to being backed up and the person needed to take their lunch. I understand both of those explanations, however, i should have been notified before coming in. I had to go to work that evening and picking him up at the original quoted time would have been fine, not the delayed time. I was informed the next available appt was a week later. Due to their inability to schedule correctly and lack of communication caused and extreme inconvenience. No applogy was offered. Next time you should make people aware of such a a big delay, be respectdul of your customers time. read more

Only Petco I've ever seen that doesn't carry saltwater fish. Everything else is the same

Paid extra for the deshedding and my dog was worse then when I took him in. Went back in to talk to them in hopes they would try to do better. The girl was instantly rude. The Oak Harbor Petco grooming lost our rabies information, refused to admit it was their error, and didn't trim the nails of my docile 11 year old Chessie. Best to find a new groomer. I was happy 3 months ago in and out no hassle but apparently they have a records problem. read more

I love the Oak Harbor Petco, although small, the friendly staff and cleanliness definitely makes up for it! I love how everyone knows my dogs and always gives them love. The ladies at the grooming salon do an amazing job and I know my dogs are well taken care of while they're getting their baths. read more

Friendly staff, easy to navigate store. Love the pet groomers. They are vey natural with dogs and that is important to me as my HUGE German Shepard dog is scared of everything! He let's the groomers trim his nails as I look on with bewilderment. Definitely my "go-to" pet store. read more

I am so impressed with Petco and their staff. The groomers were so kind to our elderly dog and he loved going. When he passed away the groomers cried with me. Giving their groomers 5 stars. Loved taking my dogs here. We moved out of the area for a year, and I am actually sad to be leaving their grooming services. My dogs are drama queens when it comes to grooming, and the groomers not only handle my dogs well, but my dogs leave looking immaculate. One of my dogs, a fluffy corgi, requires routine trimming. No matter the groomer, they do an excellent job that lasts the 5 weeks between visits. Pricing is a little high but still fair, and I think the outstanding job they do more than makes up for the price. I've tried other area places in Oak Harbor and Anacortes, and none of them compare to Petco. I have found their store staff to be courteous and helpful, and they tend be patient with their customers (I've seen some real bad customers being handled fairly in the store). 5 stars! read more

I called 3 times to see if a specific fish was in stock. It was a commonly available pet fish that most animal / fish lovers are familiar with. I could not get an answer and was left on hold for at least 5 minutes two different times. The first time I got disconnected and the second I hung up from frustration. The store is clean and the employees are courteous but I didn't want either of those things. All I wanted was a freakin fish from a fish store and I couldn't get that. FYI, If you want to talk to someone that knows what a guppy is I wouldn't go here. read more

I love my local ( oak harbor ) petco so much! The staff are so welcoming and nice but very helpful! My only complaint is the size of the store which makes there in store selection smaller but I always feel like home there! I know all the employees, and all the employees know me as the fish and hamster girl! I love holding there small animals! read more

Wandered through this store on a Saturday morning. Four guinea pigs were standing on wet bedding with feces all over. Totally disgusting. Saw 9 dead fan tail guppies. Numerous other fish deceased. Prices are off the charts. Do not recommend! read more

Numerous times recently I have ordered items from Petco.com and been jerked around. they offered 5x rewards points on all online purchases at the end of November. Then refused to honor the advertisement until I complained to the BBB and the FTC. Once they finally caved and awarded me the points they offered, now they don't have the items that I order and have been told by their customer service they won't be available for over a month, in other words after my reward dollars expire.
