New haircut for Spring. Thank you Jacqueline at Petco!

Fantastic experience as a shopper, client of Vetco the shot clinic, and the grooming salon. Most recently I took my pup in for grooming and Jacqueline turned him into the handsome boy he is! Prices are reasonable for services and all staff throughout the store are friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking. Great store!

I absolutely LOVE this Petco! I currently do training with Ashley who is wonderful! She loves our dog Laika so much. Ashley is super welcoming and friendly. Jose is great, too! I love that I can go to him for questions about training as well. Grooming is excellent and I trust them 100% with my dog. After having a terrible (and I mean, TERRIBLE) experience at Petsmart's (Stamford) grooming, I went to Petco to try them. They are so loving with Laika. I love their demeanor, they're very calm and gentle with all of the dogs. Traveling to Norwalk from Stamford is definitely worth it for this location!

A golden retriever dog with a thick, golden coat stands on a cracked asphalt parking lot, with a small grassy area and a parked car in the background.

Would give it zero stars if I could. My husband brought my showcase golden retriever here because our usual groomer( who is amazing) was booked too far out and we needed a trim. Poor dog was clipped with add on brush, looking like someone went with scissors on her piece by piece. Think farmer clipping a ship. Not only they destroyed her coat and undercoat, it was done so poorly that apparently there is no guarantee her coat and undercoat will ever come back to the same texture. When I called the owner she refused the refund and said 'bring her back in so we can fix it'. There is NO WAY this place is ever touching any of my dogs again, and if you don't want to destroy yours, I would stay away. Best of it - their excuse-your husband signed the paperwork!

After pointing out the curbside option to her she refused and made me enter to answer 3 questions in person that could have just as easily been done over the phone when I called to alert them I was there. She also had her mask just over her mouth not her nose. This was sheer laziness and irresponsibility. Updated: The manager reached out to me and confirmed curbside is still in effect and improper mask use will not be tolerated. She also upgraded my dogs room which was appreciated. Thank you for addressing my customer service concerns promptly. I have changed the review from 2 stars to 4 stars to reflect this and since my dog always seems to enjoy himself there!

However, we had a lot of problems from the beginning. We have an older chocolate lab that gets along with every dog she met. The first time we picked her up from a overnight she had scabs on her ears, and we were told that other dogs were humping her in the general play area, I guess biting her ears at the same time. (We have never seen this happen to her before). I asked why those dogs were not separated and they said they didn't notice soon enough. The second time it happened again, and preemptively separated her from the rest of the pack by keeping her in the kennel all day. I didn't think that was fair vs. removing the aggressors. I asked if she had at least been given a walk or some kind of play time to offset being kennel all day, and they said no that would have been extra. I was upset because no one notified of this and we would've gladly had paid if needed. Most recently we had her boarded overnight and called in advance to let them know we would be coming for an after hours pick up, which they said was fine. Apparently that message never got to the person who was on the overnight shift. When we got there, no one answered. We knocked, called, and rang the doorbell for a half an hour, and no one was in the building. About an hour later, we got a call from the person who was on the shift who apologized and said they had stepped out for dinner. This is very upsetting considering the advertised 24 hour person care, and if no one was in the building for over an hour, who was there to watch if something happened like a fire or a fight or a health concern? On top of it, that person is the director of the facility and should have known better not to leave the premise. Have your dinner in a break room, but don't leave the building for over an hour unattended. We went back the next morning to get her and the staff did not even know she was still there! It blows my mind they have no record of the dogs in their care? At the end of the day the facility is not run professionally, the care is questionable, the management is irresponsible, and there's false advertising about availability and on-site protection. If you love your dog, please reconsider boarding here until things change.

She gave us a ton of information, told us where she would be the next day with phone number of the other store so we could reach out to her with any additional questions. She actually just texted me with pictures of the parents of the goldendoodle we purchased (it's after 7pm). I did call the store one day when Allison was out and Pete answered the phone, he wanted to know how the dog was doing, said he has been with the store for decades and if we need anything to just call him. GREAT STAFF. We were talking to some breeders directly and the communication was horrible. Gary has some great employees. Even the woman who bathed and did our dog's claws after purchase clearly LOVED dogs. Very positive store experience. The Neutral: My dog, as others have mentioned was timid and easily startled when first home, but I think that's normal. He's only 10 weeks old, arrived from Missouri only a week before. That's a lot of changes for a little guy. So we have been making sure to keep the house a little quieter and trying to not make noise when he is eating. Basically like the instructions from Gary (Owner) say, no playing or excitement for 3 days. It's day 3 now and the dog (Reilly) is really much more active, running around the house, eating better, and seems to be adapting well to us and the house. The unexpected: Day 3, the little guy seems to have developed a cough. Could be from the stress of the move, he didn't seem to have this when we brought him home. I spoke to Allison about this and was told we would be reimbursed if we were unable to get back up to CT to see their Vet. (We are an hour away). Update: He seems a little better today, he has his check-in/check-up anyway so we just moved up the date at the vet to make sure he's on the right track. I am sure he will be fine. The less positive: When we originally called on the phone, we were told one general price from the Owner for the dogs were were interested in. At checkout the dog price increased more than 50%. We were able to negotiate, but we felt it could have been handled better. The only reason we feel we didn't overpay is because the service and aftercare have been wonderful. And when you get a 10-11 week old baby, believe me you will have questions. This is my third dog, but I quickly realized pups this young are infants, more vulnerable, do more dumb things, eating well and not getting sick is really important.
