This is for the Mt Vernon location. I have taken my sweet lab there several times for grooming, normally not really an issue except having to wait to be waited on, or they text the wrong # to tell me my dog is ready. Last time there one girl "claims" my dog lunged at her, even the groomer who normally does her said this is not how my dog acts but the rule is "she cannot go back there". I have been paying for the Vital Care monthly and was told to call them and they would cancel the membership because they cannot groom her anymore. So I tried calling and the guy kept trying to sell me more stuff and that he cannot cancel until September. I once again explained Petco is cancelling not me...he again says he cannot cancel my account. I try calling the store to talk to Chelsea, 3 times tried calling to be exact, no-one ever answers the phone. When we were leaving I noticed she did not even smell like she had been bathed and her nails did not even look like they had been trimmed, I paid 50.00 (or close to that) and a good tip for the groomer...Had I known they were not allowing her back or smelled her, I would not had paid a dime...she smelled just like when I took her in. If no answer by end of business today, next call is the BBB, not sure what will happen but someone needs to know. read more

I gave them the benefit of the doubt the first time I went there and was treated like one of the dogs they groom. Front desk lady didn't want to talk to me barely even looked up like she was just hoping no customers came in. Then after that TWO times they turned down our dog for grooming for the most dumbest reasons. I called to complain and the store manager had the nerve to say "hey I'm here for the money, that's my main business" but yet he wont cut a 4 pound dogs hair because it's a safety issue? This Petco is mismanaged. There are no carts available for customers. The store is empty and the employees are congregating and chitchatting around the register. I did not buy everything I needed because it was too hard to carry cat litter, food and other items. So no business for you, Petco. I mentioned this to an employee and he said "The customers take the carts to the parking lot and do not bring them back." Well, in all other stores employees bring them back. Especially when it is empty and they have not much to do. This morning, we gave Petco another chance. Sadly, at opening, 9:15 am there are no carts so no cat litter could be purchased. We took our two labs in to be groomed. Usually we use Petsmart, but they were 4 weeks out for grooming, so we decided to go to Petco. My first gut feeling when we walked in was to walk out. The receptionist girl in the grooming area just-I guess just rubbed us wrong. Very know it all, ect. We handed our pets over to the groomer and they assured us they would be fine. And, they were fine. I will never suggest they were anything but good to our animals, they just could of been better. We came back after we were texted that they were ready. When we went into the grooming place, we were informed one of our dogs was stressed out during the experience. Oddly enough, that has never been the case at other grooming facilities. Makes me wonder what happened with the groomers to cause him stress because that is unlike him. I was a little put off but then the two groomers who were working on other dogs, AND the receptionist, kept speaking over each other in regards to my 9 year old dogs stress level and what to or not to do. (PS, we know our sweet boys...they are our loves and we know their personalities AND we have consistent vet appointments) They weren't rude or anything along those lines (other than speaking over each other sorta falls in that category) They just are a bunch of young people full of themselves is the vibe we got. THEN we go to pay. it was $204 with two $10 tips for groomers. I was floored at the cost. Bath, furminator, nail trim and ears cleaned at PETSMART was less than that. We go to leave. I have just bought a new car and haven't had the dogs in it yet. Driving home, we were like "did they even shampoo them"? My car reeked of dog. When we arrived home, I smelled both their coats and they both had a faint scent of shampoo. BTW, a shampoo alone at Petco is $40 for a large dog plus $4.99 product. Next time Petsmart is booked out, I will have our 2 year old grand daughter bath our dogs-have every belief it will smell better and they won't be stressed. They were fantastic about an exchange for a 75 gallon aquarium that we puchased there. It began leaking several months later, for no apparent reason. They did not have another there, but gave us cash back and located one at another store close by. read more

My experience with this Petco store is just getting worse and worse and I decided not going there anymore. First, grooming. I have three dogs and they need grooming every almost 4-5 month. So I have been a regular costumer until they cut my dog's face, leave spots (long hair) whenever I go there. I used to order the same menu for their hair cut, sometimes, I get teeth brush for free, sometimes no. (Not sure every time they actually brushed my dog's teeth then...) Once, they forgot to trimming the nails and when I got my puppies, they were excited and jumped on me. I had jeans on but the nails were too sharp and let red scars on my legs and also my neck because I picked one up. The groomer's face was like s****. And asked me to trim them. Well, a sorry would be nice but nope. The time when they cut my dog's face, they did not mention anything, I found it when I was petting my dog at the night. Petco always sends email saying please review so I said they cut my dog's face and didn't have the courage to tell me which it's not okay. I wouldn't be happy but it's better finding it out later by my own. And I actually got a phone call from the corporate which I surprised but still after that, the grooming quality is getting worse and worse. I just had to change (stop going there). Second, customer service. They are friendly but it depends on what services. I had a question for the store event which comes up in one week. All the answer I got was I think I think I think. If you are not sure, you could say, please hold, let me check. But nope, she had attitudes like are we done yet? Why you are asking? and just want to hang up. Then why you picked up the phone?!? I don't mind hold, I just want some curtain answers. In the store, totally depending on who you meet, some of them are willing to help, but most of them are no. Just saying, it's not like I never had good experiences. I did have but for the past two years, one in ten is good and the rest is not good. read more

Super friendly staff, and a great shopping experience. What is nice about Petco is that you can bring you dog shopping with you, as long as you dog is well behaved and on a leash. I really enjoyed the shopping experience and would certainly come back to this pet store. Good selection, super friendly staff, clean store, good parking. This place is great. The staff is wonderful and the store is clean ... but none of that really matters. Petco in Mount Vernon, WA is getting five stars from me for one reason, and one reason alone ... while I was there today I got to see a Wallaroo being carried around in a Baby Bjorn by some young guy acting totally natural.. Don't buy fish here. Both times I've bought fish here they've all died within a week. This last time they took all of my 2 year old stable pond fish. I went in a week ago and got about 8 goldfish to add to my pond. They were introduced correctly into a stable and clean environment. Within 24 hours they were dying. After a couple days, they all died and even killed my other fish. I'm pissed! They had 2-3 large tanks in the store full of fish last week. Went in today and ALL of the fish were gone. Empty tanks! Gee! Wonder what happed to the several hundred they had? Now I have to clean my pond out and start from scratch cuz who knows what's in there now? I know there is no life left in it. read more

This is a typical PetCo, not much else to say. Just wanted to add that if you are traveling in an RV, plenty of room to park the RV. However, navigating the sharp left or right turn (depending which way you are going) into the access road is a little dicey in an RV, but can be done. I came here in my car. read more

We've been taking our gaggle of three dogs here for their grooming since moving to Skagit County a year ago. We are pretty picky about them being well cared for. The gang at Petco always does such a great job on their grooms and are so friendly. It is apparent that they are animal lovers which makes it much easier to drop them off for a few hours. I've always been a fan of Petco for years but this last trip was a huge disappointment. My boyfriend and I came in about 15 min before they closed to get a fish we'd been looking at. We were looking for someone to help us when this women who works there came up and rudely asked us if we needed needed help and when we asked about fish she rudely told us they don't sell fish in the last 15 minutes and then she walked away. It was really disappointing because I love Petco and have always went there. I understand if you don't sell fish in the last 15 minutes but just being rude the way she was, was completely unnecessary. read more

I enjoy going to this Petco when I happen to be off-Island. The staff are happy to be there and they really go out of their way to be helpful. The store itself is clean and tidy, but the women's bathroom (although clean) was in disrepair. However, the people who work there are what keeps me going back- seriously nice folks who just want to make you happy. So strange for a chain store, too. Management must be doing a good job for their employees to be doing such a good job. read more

I had an appointment at 2 pm 6/2/16 and I was less than impressed. My yellow lab really needed a good brushing and a bath so I told them that he didn't need his nails done (because I did them) but a good brushing was the main point of the visit. (15 min w/ the Basic Wash for $32) They suggested that I do their Deshedding Package that was $30 more and that they use some special shampoo that loosens the hair but I didn't want to do it because $60 for a bath and brush seemed too steep for me! I had done the Basic Wash before and we had great results at the Boise, Idaho location. I dropped him off at 2 pm and they told me that he would be done by 4pm. I show up a little after 4 pm and they said it will be 20 more min so I decided to walk around the store for a few. I come back and she had him up on the table and was starting to do his nails so I walked in and explained to her that I had already done them, as I had already told her, she agreed that they were very well kept up and let him off the table. They bring him out to me and with 1 pet to his back I got a chunk of hair on my hand. She assured me he got brushed and I asked if she would do it again as I didn't see much of his hair on, or around, the table. Her co-worker walked over with a palm sized rubber brush and began to brush him and clouds of hair fell off of him. He continued to brush him for another 5 min on top of her claimed 15 minutes. Then her co-worker continued to tell me about their "special shampoo" and that next time I should buy the better package. I tried to explain that I had never had this problem with the regular 15 minutes that I had paid for at previous visits. He didn't really respond but ignored my statement. I finally gave up and just went out to pay for it and left. When I got home, I brushed him for 5 minutes and got about enough hair to make up a small dog and I'm less than pleased with my results. As I see it, I paid $32 for a bath... I will not recommend this location to anyone. read more

I love this Petco! As with all chain stores, you can't expect too much but the staff here is amazing. I bring my puppy here just to walk around and say hi to the staff and other customers. They know my puppy by now. He loves visiting his friends at Petco! read more

I am very upset on my visit to Petco, so Sunday is always our family day and we were very excited to get our daughter a New pet. We look around and decided to go with a turtle. We start looking for tanks and none had any type of prices so I tell my husband "let's ask someone to help us so we know exactly what to get and how to take care of the Turtle since we've never had one" so we ask a young lady in the front and she says she doesn't know much about them so she refers us to another girl named Ashley, who is helping someone with a dog in not sure what they were doing, we didn't mind waiting till she finished so she asked "what did we want to know?" (Rudely) And the other girl offered to take over what she was doing so she can help us but refused. (Which we didn't mind waiting till she was done) so my husband asked her "We want to buy a turtle and we want to know what kind of care it need or doesn't need a special filter... just everything about the turtle" then she responds by saying "yes" (I'm assuming yes it needs a special filter) so we are just standing there awkwardly so he goes on to ask "what about tanks, non seem to have a price, how do we get a price" and she responds by saying "well you can ask one of us and we can ask the cashier" and it just got more awkward from there... not only was she rude to us she was very rude to the girl we asked for help at first right in front of the customer she was helping and even she had an awkward face... The point is she basically ruined our excitement and decided to just leave. I refuse to buy from a store that I don't feel they don't want our business. read more
